I had a another cursory look here again today. Trying to. Check out the 3 DNF's. From previous visit but it looks like all 3 are missing/or now replaced, but as with other CO' s have allowed I have logged this with a photo .

Enjoyed a walk along the beach after dinner in the cool of the evening just before it got dark. Climbed the dune to GZ. Description and hint left a fairly wide search area and I spent a fair bit of time scratching around in case of cache-drift.
In the end I had to agree with previous DNFers that the area has been significantly altered and the cache is no longer to be found where it should be. Owner maintenance looks necessary now, or perhaps it should be archived. There's plenty of scope for a new cache further along the beach as encouragement to discover this beautiful place.

Another beautiful day here at castle Point... the water here has lost its summer warmth. But it is still quite nice in the water with the lovely waves. Three girls on snow/sand riders were sliding down the dune.. and later a
I noticed a family go past with some large pieces of cardboard. To do the same thing no doubt.
BUT there is no cache here. We all searched amongst the flax etc. but did not find any cache. I think this needs maintence...

great dune... only found rotten flax where it should have been:-( great spot though. fun running down.
No joy today. Very overgrown with plenty of pines and flax to search. Great spot though!
Went for a walk along the beach until we were below the cache and realized it was on top of the hill. There are attempts to re-vegetate the sand hill so climbing up wouldn't have been a good look. Maybe next time.
Everything was super overgrown. Lots of dead pines and flaxes. Struggled to look around the area. Good location though
Last cache for the day. Quick find once we figured how to get to GZ.
Awesome views.
Left a pet rock -an orca. TFTC

My 52nd cache! Bit of a struggle getting there - great location, well chosen - but 3yr old son was so excited to find it, it was all worth it. Thank you.
Shared this location with my kids. Only 2nd one we have found. Kids very excited. Max 7 & Olive 9. The Young Family "youngwhite" ANZAC day 2014
Hmmm worked a few muscles that hadn't been worked so hard for a while. Great view even on a windy day. Got the fright of our lives as we were walking along the beach. Had heads down following gps plotter, when a seal rose up in front of us hissing and teeth barred. Not sure which of us jumped back the farthest. Thought we were about to be attacked by a mad dog. Luckily the seal took off for the water. Once the hysterical laughter subsided, we collected our hearts from our boots and carried on. One eye always on the look out for further unsuspecting locals.

When I looked down the beach and saw the sand dune, I thought "Oh, *&^%@". And it was as hard to climb as it looked. I was still struggling up the dune when StreetWalker struck gold. The trip down was super fast .

#5581. We had lunch in the carpark overlooking the beach. We could see the climb that lay ahead (in hindsight, perhaps it would have been better to tackle it without a full stomach). The nor' wester was strong, blowing lots of spray off breaking waves. We knew we'd be in for a sandblasting as we walked along the beach. There was a trail of steps leading up the dune in about the right place, so I followed that. The dune face was interesting; a layer of dry sand on top and a layer of hard wet sand underneath. It was a decent workout climbing the dune, and the cache was located after a short search. TFTC.

#3850. Went up the dune from the beach to GZ. Good exercise. Great views from GZ. Took a bit longer to find the cache than it should. Missed it on the first pass. After no luck widening the search area, returned to near the first spot searched, and there it was. The return trip to the beach was a lot quicker!
Unfortunately, RTW Butterfly TB was not in the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC.

Quick early morning jaunt with Richargr before breakfast at the caravan. Little Blue Hen and Mrs R ran off down the dune like demented teenagers. We went back and got the bacon and eggs ready. TFTCSL
10am and the sand is burning hot already!
Cache condition: good

GPS led us straight to the cache. Found with a friend. Took a random rock, and replaced it with a pukeko painted rock - it was the start to an awesomely long day.

You have to come here and play on the dune sand bank. It's awesome. Kids loved it! TFTC
Decided to finish our days caching with a grunt up the sand dune! Thanks for the cache CampbellWgtn.
Stayed the campsite nearby (don't bother staying there - very expensive and owners are extremely rude). Quick find. Did with Mycro Man on the way to and back from camping at Castlepoint
Last cache on a weekend visit to this amazing place! Someone else had found it the same day
Took a little while to locate this one, but there seemed only one likely spot after reading the clue and sure enough it was there - even though our gps wanted us to be quite some distance further away. Sand was very hot underfoot today. TFTC
What a dune !
Lost my GPS, after not securing it properly to the belt clip, under the sand 33 meters from the cache.
Luckily my wife, strugeling up the dune saw one corner sticking out of the moving sand.TFTC

What a great dune. The kids played on it while we older Daggs found the cache. GPS had me looking around, but clue was spot on. TFTC
Busy afternoon on the beach. Followed sand for part of the way then ascended an easy route.
Nice spot looking down on the muggles. Not the first here today!

Found in the middle of a sand dune climbing and rolling afternoon. Many nearby items fit the hint but we soon found it.
Left behind a compass TB that came from the west coast of the South Island and we left on the east coast of the North Island. Tftc

Nice break at a friend's caravan in castlepoint so couldn't resist a couple of caches with AKGLB Kids loved the sliding dunes.T4TCSL
Awesome place along the beach and sand dunes was a blast! Found with danielle:-) and lillianavess. TFTC
Found with Tramper Ted, our last find in Castlepoint after a very enjoyable weekend spent here - what a spectacular destination this is - in any weather! We walked along the beach, then puffed our way upwards to GZ. With three of us hunting it was found efficiently, we then walked out the easier route through the motor camp. TFTC.
Ducked along the beach at high tide, then up the sand dunes to find this one with Edvern. Then found a quicker way back to the car. Great expansive views of the coastline. TFTC
Found after dark towards the end of a day's expedition to the Wairarapa to clean up a few unfound caches. It was a bit difficult to work out the best access in the dark - I drove along the road with a powerful torch but couldn't spot any tracks so I resorted to walking along the beach and climbing up the sand dune in three-steps-forwards-two-steps-backwards fashion. Once close to GZ I couldn't initially spot a likely place, there were a lot of remains of chopped-down pine trees. However after about 10 minutes I zeroed in on a likely location and after a bit of burrowing around was rewarded shortly afterwards with a cache. The return trip was much easier, a track led down into the nearby motor camp and I then walked along the beach from that to the car. A most enjoyable cache and I liked the little extra challenge posed by doing it at night. Signed log, TFTC!
One of our favorite places in the world. Great cache, fantastic view and a whole lot of fun getting down again.

I saw this cache listed last week, but I haven't been able to get out here. I was surprised to see it still hadn't been found this morning. I chose a great day to head out here, extremely windy and pouring with rain. On reaching the coast I found a group of schoolchildren sliding down the sand dunes (yes in the rain), so I walked through the motor camp to reach the cache. A quick find due to spot-on coordinates, unfortunately there was no view here today. TFTC CampbellWgtn
