Went to have a look. The tree is *not* fenced off. Fences on two sides, but it you walk down the cement path, there is easy access.

No problem that I can see

24-Aug-24
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

11-Aug-24
The tree is now fenced off and you cannot get closer than 5 metres to the base of the tree where the cache was. Thank you.

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. With only light rain forecast we decided to take the GeoBikes back into the City and attempt the caches and AdLabs along Anzac Parade. With a quick stop at Duntroon to collect some previously missed caches. Unbeknownst to us out of towners the CBD was a bit of a traffic nightmare due to road closures for the Canberra Marathon. [B)] It took forever to move the last 1km.Once on the bikes things went a bit smoother. Mr Felix tackled mostly the AdLabs whilst Mrs Felix tackled the intercache and Wherigo. Before joining forces again and visiting the war memorial for the 3rd time this week to gather yet more information. The rain tried to get us but held off other than a couple of very light sprinkles. Looking forward to coming back here on 25th April 2024. RazzTFTC Pacmania Cool

My family and I have headed down from Brisbane to Canberra for the Easter break to visit relatives living here. The lure of a Mega event in town at the same time was just a coincidence, honestly .So far during our visit here I have spent most of my time on family related activities, with the odd session of geocaching thrown in. Yesterday I had the full day to myself to spend geocaching, with my wife having to do some work remotely and my daughter catching up on an assignment. Today the leave pass had been rescinded, with a family trip planned mid morning to the Australian War Memorial. Still, I decided to get up early before everyone else and squeeze in a walk around the lower slopes of Black Mountain.Back with the family and it was now time for our visit to the War Memorial. Ive been here a number of times - pretty well every time we come to Canberra - and particularly come to pay our respects to my cousin who is commemorated on one of the plaques in the Hall of Honour. At the end of our visit, while my wife and daughter enjoyed a cup of coffee in the cafe, I ducked around to GZ for another look for this cache. I had attempted it some years ago, visiting all the required waypoints and then went searching for the final, but had no luck at my calculated coordinates. I assumed I had made an error in my numbers but did not have time that day to go back and check. While walking towards GZ I read the cache page again and some updated information in the logs was quite useful and I was able to use that to relocate myself to a position not far from my projected coordinates. Obviously I had indeed got one of my figures slightly wrong. This time there were no problems at the new location, the cache was quickly spotted, and the logbook signed. Happy to bring closure to this cache at long last. TFTC

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Pacmania! The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 5. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. ????This is the Geobash boomerang trip, why boomerang? Whizzed past this area last week on the way home from South Australia and here I am back again. ??This cache, why???eventQuite a few people said they didn't expect to see me back for the Mega here and neither did I once I'd returned to Brisbane last week. Some investigations on the car and a final decision on Wednesday night and the speedy turnaround on unpacking, washing and repacking the car saw me leaving Brisbane on Thursday lunch time and arriving in Canberra on Friday morning. Phew!??Has been great catching up with everyone again and enjoying the activities and the wedding. Today I'm here as part of a tour and afterwards we went and found some caches and ad labs. We signed logs as AWM4.TFTC??

Day 6 of our Capital Geobash mega-holiday. After flying our car-flag at Mt Ainslie this morning, we headed back down the mountain and spent the majority of the rest of the day walking up and down Anzac Avenue, then a visit to the Australian War Memorial. We had gathered most of the information required on our previous mega trip in 2019, so it was an easy task to finally finish this one off today. The monuments around the grounds are all very important. TFTC Pacmania.

Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We found this cache as a group in a Geotour. Log signed as AWM3.

Geobash Easter Mega - Day #2 (Good Friday 29/3)For day two, my main focus was the finding the mega site ALs and attending my second of three (pre-registered) tours. This made three tours total so far. I started the day at the mega site and I found the challenge caches around the perimeter of the mega site before heading in for the ALs I ended up finding most of them before heading off to todays tour. Todays tour was at the Australian War Memorial. Another great tour to attend as I once again learnt lots and saw some of the newly updated (to me at least) exhibits. After a late lunch I headed back to the mega site to find the last of the ALs. Once they were complete, I headed off to find some solved WIGs before heading back to the motel. I also found two others which has been on the to-find-list for far too long. Now time to get some sleep for my really busy day tomorrow. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTEs & TFTCs Big GrinSigned as AWM2. After the inside part of the tour, we headed out to find the nearby caches. This was one of those caches. Once at GZ a quick find was had. Then it was signed and then we headed off to the next one. Thanks for adding to today's adventure. Big Grin

We did the walk of the grounds after participating in the tour inside the memorial. Really enjoyed the gardens, especially the trees. Even though the air was thick with smoke it was still lovely and peaceful and reflective. Three out of the thirteen waypoints are currently unavailable because of the construction works, but thanks to our helpful guide we were able to answer the questions. The log was signed as AWM2 for our group to save space. Many thanks for this multi in this special place.

Day 2 of my magnificent mega caching experience in Canberra and surrounds.Today I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, Burns345, neva2old & I (signing as WA6) focussed more on the central Canberra area with a couple of tours booked at Parliament House & the Australian War Memorial, was fantastic to see these places and meet caches from all over the place too.The evening was spent on another mega tour at Mt Stranger.Once again a great variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks Pacmania for placing War Monuments for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 15:05 on 28/3/2024.This is find number 8385 for me.

Found with Smittengranny on a morning out. Tftc

I was out with barb2e and Isopeda today. This is at least the 3rd time that I have tried for this cache. At first, Sam(sung) was taking me to a completely different location from where I had looked previously. I have no idea where those coordinates came from as when I checked, I had others recorded which took us to where I had looked before. Except that this time, Isopeda was with us and managed to direct us towards a slightly different place where the cache was quickly found. Log has been signed and cache returned to its hidey hole. TFTC Pacmania I feel so good to finally have a smilie for this cache.

19-Aug-23
Redemption. Came here once before with no luck, but clearly didn’t look hard enough at the time.

Managed to work out the final coordinates a while ago obviously, after having no trouble collecting the waypoint info.

Glad to see that the final hide is still safe and sound. Thanks for the adventure Pacmania Smile Always a pleasure to find a lonely cache!

We (the pants people) pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Wow hard to find. Signed dsd or darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys to save space in the logbook. Thanks for the cache and the Adventure.

17-May-23
I had worked this one out at home as it looks like some WPs are currently unavailable. I think we had the right co-ords, but with no check sum or geochecker, it's possible we were in the wrong place. Certainly the terrain was a bit more challenging than 1 1/2, but we did find a tree with large rock near its base. We did not find the cache.

30-Jul-22
At the end I was able to collect all numbers except for WP 1, 11 and 13. But those numbers can be found through some thorough internet research - so this cache is solvable. I have the final coordinates now and will visit the final position in the next days.
Thanks!

30-Jul-22
Several way points are inaccessible, like WP 13 (see picture). Perhaps the owner should provide the information by alternative means.

10-Mar-22
Attempted this one, but the works at the grounds made several points inaccessible.

09-May-21
Thought it a good idea to knock over a multi this afternoon. Enjoyed the mini tour of the grounds of the War Memorial. The only slight hiccup was a roped off area around the pine at WP1. Not wanting to encroach the barrier yet unable to read the plaque, I resorted to google to obtain the required data. From one monument to the next and ultimately on to the GZ. Took 5 minutes or so to locate the cache, but all in good condition. Logged and replaced as found. Thanks for preparing this multi!

29-Apr-21
Wonderful way to explore the surrounds of the Australian War Memorial and learn about the conflicts.
Thanks

25-Feb-21
Lots of searching so much so that we spent nearly an hour hunting. Grrrrrr.. Then after lots of chook scratching it was finally retrieved from a little deeper than would be expected. It has been returned in the exact same location but appropriate to the D/T rating ie limited chook scratching.

Had a wonderful time going from monument to monument admiring the skills of those who constructed and/or sculptured these works of art. And the magnificent gardens! It was a little spoilt at the end as we 'played' in the dirt for up to 10m out from GZ while it was at GZ all the time. TFTC Pacmania.

25-Feb-21
I've had a final GZ for this one for quite some time built up over several trips to Capital City but it was missing most times I've had a chance to finish it off. With the nearby adventure lab/mystery here as my #1 priority this afternoon, I figured meh, why not. Unbelievably, there it was at 16:45 and it turns out that I was only a few hours after the previous finder. Big Grin

A very informative journey.

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks (at last) Pacmania.

Had a wander around the war memorial today to try and make a start on some of the multi caches that start here.

I managed to have this one completely finished in around half an hour and then I went to GZ to pick up the final box.

While waiting for the flash mob event it was only prudent we made use of the time and work on this multi. I certainly wouldn't have made the effort to visit the monuments without this multi cache.
We sat near the cafe and worked out the calculations for where GZ was and soon wandered off with a handful of other teams to find it.
Thanks for an interesting multi Pacmania

Day 11 Mega trip
While attending the Clear Waters Mega we headed to an event at the War Memorial. While waiting for the start we wandered around this wonderful memorial enjoying the waypoints highlighting war monuments. Found with Tassie Trekkers, a goose, a rat, Gullivers Travels54 and a couple of NSW cachers we met near GZ. Deserves a favourite.

We have arrived at Queanbeyan for the Clear Waters Mega event and found some caches with the Tassie crew and this was one of them.

We would not have visited all of these monuments if it was not for this cache. A straight forward multi and an easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition, and adding to our favourites.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

We were sitting in a car park and saw someone put a container back, and wondered what cache that was. Did some research and thought this must be the one. Set off to all the waypoints with Wazza9 & Tronador, soon had the right GZ went over and found it, signed log and replaced. Thanks to Pacamania.

While at the War memorial for the flash mob, it seemed like a good opportunity to find all of the waypoint information. It took a little to get into the right swing, but eventually had all the numbers. Plugged them into the formula, and took a walk to another part of the grounds, where the hint proved very useful..

TNLN - Thanks Pacmania!

After Nana Nel spotted someone replace this I scrambled over to confirm it was indeed a cache..but which one. No id. so we did a little research and decided it must be this one. We walked around and collected all the info. and soon returned from the right direction and signed the logbook. Last cache for me before heading home.

A lovely walk around the outside gardens of the War Memorial visiting a variety of monuments gathering information as we went. We took a few minutes to sit down in the shade to calculate the GZ coordinates before setting off for the final hide. A fun multi that was able to be completed on site earning a favourite point from us. TFTC

A great morning of caching in Canberra, before heading out to Bungendore to finish of a powertrail. Even managed to squeeze in a parkrun at Mt Ainslie as well. Started a little fresh, but soon turned into a perfect caching day. All caches were found quick and easy, thanks to all cache owners for putting them out there! Great tour of the garden!

Was out a few nights earlier with The Matetrix, worked our way through to WP11. Back again for the final few and hopefully a quick number crunch and find. Worked out what looked to be a good set of coordinates, but bugger me, nothing there. Spent 20 minutes looking around and around without success. In doing so, grabbed the attention of a wandering security guard, who while hadn't heard of geocaching, was happy enough with my explanation about it, and left me to continue my search.

Sun was setting, time was running out, and dinner would soon be on the table. Low and behold, there it was, a good 10m away from where I was focusing my search, just laying out exposed on the dirt. All good though, container in fine condition and the logbook still inside. A quick log, and rehide, hopefully in a more secure but still true to the hint location. TNLNSL TFTC

Interesting journey around the war memorial with Baxsin. Didn't have any difficulty collecting the information, other than trying to stay out of the very hot sun. Sat in a nice patch of shade to figure out the final co-ordinates. On arriving at GZ, found the container lying in the open a few metres away from where GPS was directing us. Rehid in what we considered to be a reasonable spot based on co-ords and clue.

This is my second time here, first time was after the bench it was under was removed but before the CO was aware. This time I came and the cache was snugly in its new home, with only the top exposed.

Thanks for replacing this cache, it's a very cool one highlighting a large number of the perhaps lesser visited monuments

Tonight with dty73 we had plans to head out for a few caches. Had been a while since we last went out for some night time caching and a chance to catch up. Also has the bonus of the closest parking, quiet streets and no muggles!

Had previously did the work on this one only to get to the end and find the cache was missing, actually, it seemed the whole hide was missing! A great opportunity to add in that extra monument and a new hide location, but well - we had done the work previously and didn't really feel like extra work tonight! Smile

So, knowing the old GZ and with the hint we just searched a location that fitted and what do you know... there it was!!! It was well hidden of course but found it we did and our monuments tour is now complete! Thanks for the cache Pacmania.

Aquilus1 and I haven't had a night cache run in while, so we decided it was about time we did that.

We had started this cache some time ago only to find that GZ was there, but the cache and the hide were missing.

Knowing where GZ was and armed with the hint, we went back to have a look and see if we could find it. We searched the area, starting right where we needed to be then slowly spreading out. We both felt we were heading the wrong way and came back to where we thought when Aquilus1 shouted "found it". Sneaky hide really. The hint is spot on, but we just didn't look properly the first time.

Nice multi and a good spot for a cache. Tftc Pacmania!!!

TFTC from the Kayakviking! Great walk around the grounds. Very poignant with music playing as part of Poppy Display for ANZACs in ground.

#3357 A flying visit to Canberra today, first stop to check out the incredible collection at the War Memorial. A truly moving experience. Before we entered the building we completed this our first cache in the ACT Smile. The geohounds joined us for this historic moment Smile for about 8 of the waypoints before returning to the geocar. The ever diligent Mrs BGF ensured accurate recording of the required info (as we didn't want to stuff this one up!). We found the multi a great way to explore each of the external monuments dotted around the War Memorial.

After visiting all 13 waypoints! we had a likely set of numbers and made our way to the muggle free gz area for a nice quick find. A fantastic multi and a great way to start our visit to Canberra. TFTC Pacmania, a fave from us.
