This cache is located at the published coordinates. There used to be a puzzle cache, for which this was the final location.
These are not the coordinates we read you have to answer the puzzle, and the puzzle we could not figure it out
Together with Birba68 we found the place were we think the Cache was, but the place was empty. No Cache no logbook.
This was too tricky for us today. We didn't have much time but the kids were very keen to give it a try. After an enthusiastic start, the youngest lost interest so him and I checked out the lovely sensory garden while the oldest kept looking. No luck and with a parking warden patrolling we thought we'd better get back to the car! We don't come to Auckland often so it'll be some time before we can give it another go.
Multiple attempts on this one - even fashioned my own TOTT but it wasnt quite right. Came back post-adjustments, armed with more determination, and finally succeeded. Definitely a fun find, TFTC!
We came here a few years ago on a reckon mission and had an idea of the tool we might need. Today we finally came back and after a few unfruitful tries we found the right spot and the cache. Signed the log and off we went. Nice idea. TFTC
#391This was a tricky one! Acquired a TOTT especially to get this.. definitely not a piece of pies
6th time lucky! Came out caked with spiders, cache returned with just as many
Hhmm.. where could it be.
Wandered around and around prodding poking cursing and stomping.
Then slunk away a good while later with a few ideas and a little deflated. Oh well.
Sensory garden was a hoot though!

Darn. Guess we needed a hint as have no idea what we are looking for except tiny

We had called here some time ago and realized that we were not going to get our hands on the cache. So it was back today with the necessary determination to do. After ABCDF had completed a search and came up empty handed I went and immediately was able to correct that. Sat and signed before returning to it's hide. Thank you for the placement.
Thought we knew what was required and spent quite some time but couldn’t locate it
A group of us from Team SEAC were out today having a crack at getting some of the caches in the Auckland Domain. The group would have been bigger, but we had some pulling out due to other commitments and illnesses, so it was a nice sized group of 8 of us going around collecting what we could.
This cache was the first one of the day, and our meeting place once we had all arrived. Today, the Domain was the home of some YMCA run, with lots of people running a circuit around the Domain and wardens stationed all over the place. Once such warden was stationed near GZ, so we felt a bit conspicuous about what we were doing. After quite a bit of searching and coming up with nothing, we decided that we just might have to come back another day and tackle this again.

A group of us from Team SEAC decided to attempt a selection of caches within the Auckland Domain. Due to other commitments and illness our final numbers were down slightly but there were still 9 of us. This was chosen as our meeting point and first attempt of the day. With some prior knowledge we had an idea were to search. We hunted for quiet a while, at the same time as muggles ran past at regular intervals. But no luck, we will be back in the future.
A group of us search with extra intel, and multiple TOTT with no luck....
Will modify the TOTT a little and be back....

I've checked this cache page many times before and I always knew it required a tool, but often I just invent one while at GZ, so thought this would be no different. On my way through the domain, I made sure to check this one out and see if this truly was a piece of pies Waited for a couple muggles to pass before I started to investigate and ahhhh, that's where the cache will be and that's the tool I'll need for next time! Sadly I couldn't fashion something up on the spot, but can't wait to come back and extract the log here
Got within .50 meters of it but gps just never ending changed . Got somewhat irritated .
Spent 20 minutes trying to get what we THOUGHT was the cache but just upset a pile of ant larvae for our troubles. Will come back and have a better look when there’s less muffles about.
It may have been a piece of pies, but it sure wasn't a piece of cake to find. I had come before without the required tools, but today capperz was prepared and I got to watch as he retrieved the cache from its hiding place. A very cool idea for a hide! TFTC
Armed with some key info required for a find here we fashioned a tool and managed to get the cache after a few checks of possible hiding places. Nice hide style and a fun cache, thanks fmz.
My time working away from my normal area is coming to an end, I have only around 3 more weeks before I get back to 'normal' and won't be travelling around so much. As part of my current job I often need to do deliveries and visits to the city and pass the lower Domain as part of that journey. I've made a few finds when passing and on breaks but have a few target caches to get before I finish. A concerted focus on a certain few remaining caches left me with four in the sights and today was the day to come and get them. I asked Lumin298 if they were keen to come along and yes was the answer. Success ensued and all 4 were found, thanks to the COs.

Over the years, we too, have visited GZ and come away with ideas of where the cache is hidden. Once it was overgrown with vines and another time someone was sheltering/sleeping there. Today though success!! So happy to finally rich this one off. Tftc!
I've had a look at this one a couple of times over the years, and (correctly) guessed where it was hidden. I hadn't, though, worked out how to access it. A previous finder have me a hint about the tool they used, and it all came together! Last night, Miss Eight and I spent the night Sleeping With Sea Monsters in the museum. We came equipped with the right tools, so early this morning, avoided dog walkers and made the find. Thanks!
Easy find first place I looked.
second visit here.
Back here with better tools ...
Very cool...thanks fmz

We have been here long before and had no luck because we did not have the right tools of the trade. This time we were here with friends who just happened to have their geobag in the boot of the car for us to borrow the right tool Third attempt and we finally turned our previous attempt into a smiley
After a brief visit previously I had an idea of what was required, so came back here today with my good caching buddy handyandyman. Well what can I say without giving to much away, but Andy made very quick work of this, certainly very handy today, TFTC
After a DNF a week or so ago with others we had an idea how to crack this cache, out with alunb and gotta say today was a team effort on equal proportions. Both came armed with what we thought was required and it proved so ...actually quit quickly. But it did take this second attempt to nab it as quick as we did, and again this was a team effort today. Cheers alun for the fun day out and FMZ for this cache! FP has been awarded
Cache was checked on the weekend, and as a result a couple of logs have been deleted as they did not match up with entries on the logsheet. Images of logsheet as at 5/12/20 attached.
PS - the whole back of the logsheet is empty, so lots of room for future finders. Enjoy!

It was about 2 years ago I DNF'd this, so time to have another go. No need to be subtle here with muggles, there is no way this can ever be muggled. But it did take quite some time for C.C to gather the cache from it's hidey hole.... why? It wasn't in that hole it was in the OTHER hole! As soon as we realised it, we had the cache in hand in seconds. A team effort with this one, we added bit of our various caching supplies to make a tool, and viola! But the pressure was on though, with the C.O watching the proceedings.
Got it second time around.
Had better tools and a let’s take on the world attitude.
Plus the CO was looking on and gonna make us log another DNF.
I guess I don’t have to add needs archive after all...

DNF on this one again today but being clear of mind I think I’ve solved this one, just going to have to come back with TOTT to complete. Can’t say previous cachers hadn’t said as much.
YES!!!!! This was a multi-visit cache, with a buddy team, and solo, with TOTT and without TOTT, with convincing ideas that were dashed and vague ideas left percolating, the stuff of dreams and sleepless nights; in sum, a cache that we were going to find Because It Was There...somewhere.
Found with Dracophyllum after sourcing further TOTT. Met up with Tuolei and Geo-dog, who rumbled our cacher status in a walk-by. Enjoyed the hunt(s) and the find and the summery afternoon. TFTreallygoodC

Found with Xanthelou while up in Auckland for a visit. After a thorough look around the structure we finally figured out where it must be but had to go and make the appropriate TOTT and come back and eventually retrieved. Great to meet Tuolei who was walking past with his geodog while we there. This cache definitely deserves the difficulty rating and also a favourite point from us. TFTC
Today I explored Auckland on foot and covered over 20 km.
I discovered a lot of beautiful places and could find a lot of cans.
Some of them I did not find.
It was a nice, long, sunny day and I want to thank all owners for this.
It was a great pleasure for me to cache here in Auckland.
Thank you and many greetings from Germany

Had a good ten minutes on this one but no luck. Trying to work on methodical approach to solving these. For now satisfying even though I have not located . Will have to be another day.

Well I'm a bit naughty. You see someone else has made an opening so I went in. That was about as lucky as I got.
Despite having the area all to myself I didn't locate the cache.
Despite having the area all to myself I didn't locate the cache.
There is no reason for me to believe the cache is not there anymore, just currently inaccessible due to the temporary fence (this log is just to get Groundspeak's algorithm off my back just because there have been a few DNFs).
Sorry, no free passes here as this is a difficult cache to find. if it were an easy park and grab I -might- have been inclined to say yes, but not this one.

Do I get a free pass to do found on this one given its fenced off and I've come all the way from Australia?
I searched for this a few years ago and failed to log my DNF. Today there is no shame in logging my DNF. There's much works activity with the cache area fenced off. In much younger days I would have climbed over or under the fence under cover of darkness.
No, this is not a DNF, I did see the cache but unable today to free it from it's confines. Will be back!
Now know what tool I need to complete. Not enough time on this trip, but I will be better prepared next time I visit...
We came to do this one back in November but while we had a TOTT to have a go at this one it wasn't quite up to the task. On the other hand we were pretty sure we knew what the hide was so it was just a matter of improvising the correct tool and having another go. Got what we needed and we did come back in February I think it was but the area was occupied with muggles using the area for a few drinks and they looked well settled.
Finally back again today with the correct TOTT and had another go and found the cache in the second place we looked. Got a red herring in the first place we looked so CITO to that item and kept at it. Found the cache as we expected so pleased that we had the right idea about the hide. Got there in the end.
Thanks for a good challenging cache, worth the effort as there aren't too many of these about. Always worth reading the attributes on the cache would be my tip, might have saved a few of these DNFs. +FP for the challenge.

My friend mentioned this cache to me recently saying it was a fun one to do. I glanced at it knowing I was coming down soon. I promptly solved the puzzle and wondered why it was a D4. I sent my friend a message asking her if I had the correct co-ords as I didn't see a geochecker. She replied, "Well done on the solve but this one is a trad. It's the hide that's the tricky bit". What a laugh. Well I thought if I can't even notice a trad vs a puzzle then I'm toast! Anyway I came up with a plan and easily found the fun hide. It's a pity CO's are getting punished for DNF's. These tricky hides really add to the game. Thanks for this cache
Mr and Mrs Jag50 had tried this once before without success. This time we came as a group of four with Aiden29 and Merlot58 and with an idea that came to us after doing something similar. So MrJag50 made sure he had his ultimate toolkit and purpose built tackle ready. Got to GZ and Merlot58 insisted on being the first to try out and play with MrJag50's tackle. A number of attempts to locate the cache were made and we thought we had finally got our piece of pie. Disappointed to discover it wasn't the pie, but rather a can of shaving foam. Now things were really getting weird. Messy too as it was real foam and got all over the ground and the seat and made it slippery. After 4 attempts we had nothing to show but tangled tackle covered in cobwebs. While Aiden29 and MrsJag50 played pat the ball (it was Wilsons: and it was only one : found here) MrJag50 took control of his own tackle. He cleaned the cobwebs off and took the plunge. First attempt and he scored with euphoria. Nice to have redeemed ourselves and knocked this one off. Another notch on the cachers belt.
I came looking for this cache over 18 months ago but the local 'resident' who had set up home at GZ made searching difficult but it gave me an inkling as to the TOTT required. Today, Jag50, Aiden29 and I were clearing some of the caches in the area and decided we would give this one another go. There were no homeless residents in sight and so while Mrs Jag and Aiden played with a tennis ball they had found Mr Jag and I set about tackling the task. I got very excited when I latched on to something in the first place I tried but it revealed itself to be a can of shaving foam. Mmmm, is that a cache in disquise? No a squirt proved that in fact it was shaving foam! Oh dear, back to the drawing board. I tried another couple of places then gave the job to Mr Jag who managed to snag the cache in the first place he tried. Thanks for the fun of retrieving this cache, fp from me
We decided to visit the Domain early on Sunday before heading to the Chinese New Year event in Mt Eden. We arrived and there were no muggles in sight. Mrs Jag found a lost tennis ball in the vines, so we decided to act as decoys playing handball while Mr Jag and Merlot58 tried their luck at retrieving the cache. At times I helped to search for possible locations. We thought we'd hit the jackpot early on put alas it was only a shaving foam can. We did thoroughly check that it wasn't the cache, which resulted in foam getting everywhere. Persistence paid off and Mr Jag finally snapped up the cache in the first place he tried.
Stopped by here on a detour on our way home north and couldn't resist the opportunity to try our luck with the cache after our unsuccessful attempt with Dodge1923 earlier. After working it out we hoped we had the right bit of help and after a bit of searching for the right spot came up trumps. Yes !!!!
Such a sneaky cache deserves a fav point. hope it doesn't get archived as we had a lot of fun working out the solution to the find. Thanks for the challenge and cache FMZ...

After looking for cache with tikitour and being unsuccessful a week earlier we couldn't stop thinking about the sneaky cache. Returned back to Auckland with the tools we thought we needed. Bingo, very successful. Yah, so exciting. Thanks for the sneaky cache. Will give it a fav.
In the domain area for lunch and had checked out local caches and thought we would have a look at this one knowing it was a challenge. We didn't find it , clearly not having the right equipment but think , only think !! we may have worked it out so will be back next time back in Auckland. hope it doesnt get archived in the meantime so haven't written a DNF....
No real clues tried all areas but only in Auckland for the day. No mugglers now.
Was in the vicinity doing a spot of shopping in Newmarket so decided to come up and take a look. No worries with homeless belongings, they were very neatly tucked into the rafters and we didn't disturb them (frankly they could give me lessons on how to fold a duvet). We had a tool with us which we thought would be ideal but in fact was not - think we know what variation is required to properly search the likely hiding spots, so we're not going to cop to a DNF - if it is done the way we think it is done, no way could it get muggled unless they were very dedicated! Have the bits to improvise a tool for this one we think and will return another day.
Visiting NZ from the central coast of AUS for a gig up at the bay of islands. Had a great day of caching yesterday where I took the opportunity to fly in a day ahead of the band muggles to do some caching around Auckland! Undertook a fair bit of homework doing a thorough recce and solving puzzles etc to set up an itinerary of approx 20 Auckland caches, plus another 6 or so up around Russell for later in the week. Up early this morning to find one or two more before the others wake up for the trip north for work.
This one was discovered near an EC I had planned for this morning's walk and so I thought I'd wonder over due to it's impressive Difficulty rating and it's 18 or so months of unloved. After a quick read of some of the recent logs I figured I had likely bitten off more than I could chew, especially before 7am ..BUT I bought my full GCing kit with me and got to work. It seems I cottoned on to what was required here from the start but that was just before uncovering a very anticlimactic (was at the time) unintentional decoy lol! With three very different in their own right but extremely vital TOTTs, I persisted in a similar spot to make AND extract the find shortly after. A very satisfying detour ..and bloody evil cache I might say!! Whaddya know, another fmz cache. I've only been here in NZ around 36hrs and yet have got the gist of this CO's hides! TFTC, fmz, and thank you everyone else for the unloved!

The cache us still there and has nothing to do with any homeless person of their belongings. You do need a tool but you don't need to know anyone (plenty have found it without assistance, including the first to find). However I will probably archive it soon because Groundspeak's new algorithm to determine if you're a good cache owner counts dnf logs as a negative thus discouraging all difficult hides and making the whole game more bland and boring. Yay groundspeak. So if you want to find this do it soon and if you don't that's cool too.
Spent quite some time looking for this one but judging by the logs the only way to find this is to have the right equipment and know the right person.
Saw this was a D4 and we like a challenge so thought we would check it out. have a feeling we know where it may be but many spots to check. homeless gear all around and overgrown we decided we didn't feel comfortable searching this area. Day two of a 4 day road trip from Hawkes Bay to Auckland and back to collect as many caches as we can. Log signed as b&p.Tftc
The garden has been recently cut back and cleaned up. One of the local men who had been there for six years said the Council took everything. CO may need to check.
