We werent on a caching run and were really just filling in time. When you have got time you have no excuse not to have a red hot crack.Mrs Woodyrothwell didnt start caching with me but these days always looks forward to it. She doesnt do any planning or puzzle solving, but tell her there is a cache to be found and she cant leave it. I cant begin to tell you how much time weve wasted on DNFs where the cache wasnt there. She is a tenacious beeyarch and wasnt leaving until this one was found. She was also the one to clear the cobwebs. tftc

Yeah nah. On a hot day it feels like snake territory. Had a look both sides but couldnt find it. Didnt feel safe walking underneath the bridge. Too much long grass and rocks for snakes. Great trail though.

Doing a maintenance bike ride around the Rail Trail Triangle from Everton Station. Checked all caches and fixed the ones that had problems.

After such a string of DNFs we diverted slightly to check this one. All safe and cosy and exactly where it should be.

THE LATE TO THE WANGARATTA MEGA TOUR. [:o)]
We were booked for November 21. [^] Didn't Happen. Twisted
Booking transferred to February 22. Razz covid Twisted
Booking transferred to May 2022. Cool Yah - made it albeit a tad late. Cool

DAY 4: Off to do the Ned Kelly Helmet series. and anything else we may be passingRazz
The Fab Four of Bushfire, Blackadders, brisal5 and 6himemoa2 set off for a days of Geocaching adventures. Razz Plan A was to do NKH and then off towards Everton and Beechworth for some Randolph the Rats caches [^] So to save space in logs we signed BBB6 or 3B6 with a team stamp for the date or similar and unless there was something different or exciting happening these logs are all generic.

Expecting trouble here as two DNF's was very surprised to make a quick find. Smile Go figure! [?]

***Thanks BettyBoo3747 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

16-Jan-22
Attending the Wangaratta Mega weekend with the ladies of FurfacesLL, we collected heaps of caches and saw many scenic views along the way. Today we were back on the bike trail, we had a mix of heat, rain, humidity, mozzies and flies.

Picking up where we left off on Friday and it was time to continue our travels. It was a great day out on the trail with lots of laughter along the way.

Thanks to the CO for the cache placement for us to all enjoy. Thanks to the FFLL ladies for a fun filled trip away Big Grin

Day 4 of the Wangaratta Mega with Rapidlywild.

Today we decided to head early to try and beat the heat and call into Beechworth first to do one of the labs there and then it was back onto the trail with the bikes.

Back on the trail and thankfully when we started it was still cool, but it looked like it would be a very warm one.

All caches were found along the journey unless otherwise mentioned.
Great trail and glad we took the time out to make the journey.

Thanks for the hide and maintaining BettyBoo3747

Out riding the Rail Trails with PamJ today.
Thanks for all the work put into placing these, and keeping them maintained,
We had a nice day weather wise, but decided to go back to Melbourne tonight as it looks like we're in for a deluge over the next few days.
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for helping us to have a great day.

Spent a wonderful day around Wangaratta ion the bike trails with geo-hubby gmj3191, then had lunch in Beechworth and then back to Wangaratta via Woolshed Falls and Eldorado. But this was our last day due the expected major rain event.
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for contributing the adventure..

We looked where we would hide it … perfect spot but not there.
Spent quite some time up under and around. Too elusive for us today and the rain is not helping our perseverance today.

Today I bicycled the M2M from Wangaratta to Everton. A great ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a pretty good strike rate overall, but there was the odd inevitable DNF along the way as well. Thanks to everyone for all the cache placements, and also thanks to Nigel for the bicycle hire and shuttle service.

After looking at the previous logs and seeing the DNF logs I was pleased to find this one. Didn't take all that long either. Nice one.

Cheers and TFTC

As a non-bike rider, I have been slowly working through the rail trails around Beechworth by walking them (and there are plenty more to do). Like the HSS Basketball, the “Everton Triangle” has attracted my eye as it offered the opportunity to walk a route and not have to walk back the same path (and then get caches the whole way). Didn’t realise the last leg was actually a road, but in the time I walked this I saw one bike rider so was all good. Wasn’t too busy – saw three bikes and a dog walker getting the 3 HSS at the start, 5 bikes from there to Everton and no-one on the leg between Everton and Diffey Road. The geohound enjoyed the walk – in the end we did the 9 (or so) kilometres in just under 2.5 hours. In this time I got 23 finds and 1 DNF (which may be there) and help me achieve my first 50 cache day. Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for putting these caches out. Plenty of good birds calling as well – I have listed a few at individual caches.

Crossed the road to get this one (last one in this stretch anyway). After the last bridge I learnt my lesson. Take the time work out the most likely location and start there. So what could have been a particularly tricky find was found relatively quickly. Helped that there was a bit of a geotrail forming and limited options. Was held in there VERY tightly (to the point I was worried about it breaking) but safely extracted and signed. headed back up Diffey Road from here

Decided to do some more of the rail trails with the geo kids. Geo wife and geo daughter went one way and geo son and I went another.

First find along the trail for geo son and I for the day. Took a bit of searching but soon worked out its hiding spot

Hunting for hidden creatures today... getting closer to finding the world turtle! Eldest kid & older pup + mum took on the top trail while dad & youngest kid & younger pup took on the other side of the triangle & we met back at the station. Kids pokemoning & hatching eggs as we walked. We are sure we’ve looked for this one before as very familiar. Thinking the wasps scared us off last time. Quick find today by hubby. Tftc BettyBoo3747

12-Jun-18
Today is the 9th of June long weekend of 2018 and I managed to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years to find a heap of the Rail Trail caches with Joolay, Kitty Katch, Strangetrousers and several others. We signed the logbook as a group under the name Capital Crunches to save space on the logs. We had several DNFs along the way but most of the caches were easy and quick finds. Spotted two rabbits, millions of birds and heaps of farm animals. It was amazing, Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with so many caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache. I have included my Geocaching poem within my log for you and anyone else to read. I hope you all enjoy the poem and geocaching as much as I do.

I found this cache was sadly a DNF. I hate to leave an area with a DNF. We looked but could not find it anywhere.

On the third day of caching in this area. Strangetrousers and I collected about 20 caches including a multi, puzzles, an Earthcache and Traditionals before heading back to Canberra and real life (Sadly).

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today the 9th June 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After almost 3000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

We tried and looked and realised we had a long way to travel and no time to look any more. Sad we could not find this.

10-Jun-18
Day 2 of our MMRT trail ride weekend at Beechworth/Wanagaratta.Today I was joined by Kittykatch, Joolay, CBRChic, Geosnag1 and DarkSideDan. So we resumed where we left off yesterday at Everton and managed a much better rythym today, broken only by the occasional difficult find or DNF. I think we rode about 35 Km in total, but it wasn't too bad being mostly long flat stretches. We spotted lots of cows, sheep, some horses and a few goats along the way. Not a few cyclists also passed us also. We even came across a family of first time geocachers and gave them a few hints.

Didn't find this one.

Thanks anyway BettyBoo3747

Geofamily trip to Victoria... Cool! Cool
Mrs Moneydork, Moneydork, sushilord and I left Friday morning for a 4 day jaunt over the border to find a cache or two Cool
Two nights in Wangaratta and then a night in Bendigo left me with 10 DNFs Sad and 205 cache finds Smile one of which was a FTF SurprisedSmile
Day 2 around Wangaratta and our expected long day of riding was cut short by a malfunctioning pushbike Sad That meant only 100 Smile finds today with 4 DNFs Sad

I saw part of this rail trail when in Victoria doing the Lake Eildon Geo Tour and thought how cool it would be to ride it Cool
So I was stoked to be here and actually riding on it and finding caches Big Grin[^]
Sadly the ride was concluded earlier than anticipated due to mechanical failure Sad so we ended up walking and driving to some of the caches we had thought to ride to Surprised
Still the area is great with some great views, some interesting sights and of course caches and smileys Smile

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.

8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.

It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.

On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.

A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

Smile Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) Surprised, mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on Razz, realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got to close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. Big Grin My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]

Thanks to BettyBoo3747 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

We laugh at your 1.5*T. We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.

A short walk from the road to this one. It's amazing how deep the creek is but there is no water in it, as dry as a bone. I toted the big camera with me but I didn't see any birds either, maybe as there is no water to drink here. It will soon be all lush and green again a water in the creek. # 1123 - On our way home again, Triciac2 and I, from the Melbourne Mega.

We want to pick up a few more caches, but they need to be reasonable easy ones along the road side as we've had quite a work-out the past few days. Wink

Although, while visiting a muggle friend of Triciac2's in Everton, we go in search for a few nearby and the friend is coming along. For a muggle she's GOOD. She finds 2/6 caches, and Triciac2 and I do the same each: 2/6! Good team work. Smile

Easy find for me in this case and again a very impressed Muggle Friend...

This was close enough to my last find to 'justify' travelling in the wrong direction for a look. Wink As I pulled up at the nearest parking spot though, I spotted the familiar red cycling tops of our good bushwalking friends L & G at the junction deciding which way to go to Beechworth - the country lane or the rail trail (they ended up choosing the lane). After a bit of a laugh, particularly at the fact that this was the second time they had bumped into one of our bushwalking caching teams this weekend while on a ride and under similar circumstances each time, we all headed off on our chosen pursuits.

Following the short walk to GZ, it was down to the task at hand. Things were not looking good for a moment or two and after trying a couple of likely spots, I swapped sides and voila, I finally had the stash in hand at 11:15.

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks again BettyBoo3747.
