A day off work and what else is there to do.... yep, go caching in an area I've never really gotten into and to do some site seeing on the way around
Ok so this is a little embarrassing.
looks like I had an old GPX on the GPS.
My aim was this series and while I did manage to find most of them it was not until tonight when I got to logging the days finds that I realised that they had been archived. Oh well it was a fun and long day in the bush, with a lot of archived finds.

Found It.......It was decided to head up to Ballarat to do some shopping and caching today. So after our retail therapy we set off up to Learmonth to see if we could tidy up the caches in the area so with a plan in place we set off. After pulling up we wandered over to GZ and the search started and soon after the cache was located and with the log signed we continued on our way. Thanks sully1 for the cache
Had been in Ballarat for a couple of days with family, had time on my way home to pick up a couple of smileys in this series, this one I was nearly muggled out as a quad bike was not far from GZ,thankfully he moved on.TFTC
Next one along and kenare had found this one as well. She was no help either as she had forgotten where it was and reckoned she was slightly under the weather when she found it. Got it and we were off. Tftc
TFTC! Had a bit of trouble with sign posting on google maps..Beautiful spot. Thanks for bringing us here
The day started with an early morning drive up the road from Geelong with Ausfox; and Neville_devil for the nearby by Tree Planting CITO after which we decided to try and make as many smileys as possible in the general area of Enfield.
Thank you sully for smiley

Tonight we were heading off to Enfield for a BBQ with friends so a quick cache or two was in order! A quick find here. Many thanks for the cache.
Continuing on from last week, i had some spare hours this afternoon so headed straight out to find some more caches in this series.
Nice and peaceful out here this afternoon, a lovely place for a cache. Plenty of cows to keep an eye on this one!

Road into this cache was in good condition after all the rain etc. Found cache O.K. Good co ords. TFTH
With no other plans for today, we decided to go for a drive and find some geocaches !! I've had my eye on these hides for quite a while now. So along with my trusty navigator, we packed the car and hit the highway. It was a pleasant drive up from Geelong. The clouds looked menacing, but luckily we stayed dry all day. What a scenic part of the world this state forest is. The tracks ranged from dry and flat gravel, to water filled mud holes !! We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and we can't wait to return to grab the rest of the hides in the area. TFTC sully1

It was a quickee this one, we both spotted a likely place for the hide, and we both hip and shoulder each other... But I was the winner...
After tackling a nearby cache we thought we would continue and made our way to this one, decided to park the car and walk so we could enjoy the walk, geokid went on the search as we got close and located the cache with some help, signed and replaced as we found it, TFTC
Tftc! Little handy find with geobro n geokid. Lots of fun splashing through the big puddles on our way here
After finding a few dead ends around this area, trying to get to other caches, I finally found meself driving past this one
It seemed that the road it was located on was the escape route back to the forest I sought too [^]
A poke around found me the cache
So thank you for the caches,
All the finds I'm getting
Thank you ..... hang on !!
Bl@@dy song is back in me head again
But " ABBA dabba doo " I found me a cache

Out caching with Fergzert this onewas the second for the day and was a lot quicker to find TFTC and a great series.
Find number 2 of the day out caching with LionJRB. The GeoTriton was loving the mud along these roads. This cache was quickly found signed and hidden. TFTC Sully1
Have just spent the last few hours having for 4WD fun, nice quick cache on my way back to flat roads. Thanks
I get the feeling that you really enjoyed placing these caches Sully1 and I was very impressed with the variety of hides.
Unfortunately it was getting close to the end of the day and Tag-along was soon to be home. I had to abort the last few finds but will be back to complete the series soon.
It is a nice tribute to the people who give back to the game so that we can all continue to enjoy it.
Not too sure who this person is. Before my time and has helped me to get a smiley face.

We both spotted the obvious at the same time and Shamus1 bolted off through the undergrowth to beat me to the find.. grrr!
This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.
I found making our way through the Enfield State Forest to be the highlight of the day and my Prado handled it very nicely. We couldn't believe it when some more caches were published in here the next day so we immediately began planning our next Ballarat Smackdown trip.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Another one found in the bush. No trouble here. TFTC.

This was, cache # 88 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. we had a quick find as we enjoyed our drive trough this area. My thanks to sully1 for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

After a couple of DNF's it was good to actually find one at last! My first of this series today.

Our second "thanks to" cache of the day. Good day for 4x4 in the bush. tftc sully1
The elder geo-kid has obtained his license (you should all be afraid) and had taken the geo-falcon, leaving me with the "good car", henceforth known as the Geo-Astra. So the rough tracks were taken much more slowly than I would usually travel.
Cache was easy enough once I found the spot.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Thanks to CanClan as it appears I've found both of their available caches. Although the name doesn't really ring any bells
After finding my namesake cache i decided to continue the search, after overshooting the location and reversing into a branch ( so thats what the spare on the rear of the 4WD is for !) I made a quick find, and a swap.

Another in the 'Thanks to........' series found. Thanks for the cache sully1 which was located today while out and about in the Enfield State Park.
In a hurry so of course kept taking all the wrong turns! Nice to have the use of a 4x4 even if only for a short time. Thanks for the series Sully1.
Nice series and tribute to some people who have contributed to our game - tftc Sulli1 and CanClan

An easier find than the previous one. Thanks for bringing us here, Sully1. We enjoyed exploring this region today through this series. Thanks to CanClan for providing caches around Ballarat and adding to our enjoyment of the game.
The ageing Bushfire and the suscoe team decided to visit the Enfield Forest and look for all the "Thanks to caches" and others that have been placed in this lovely area.
The suscoe team worked out the route and planned our method of attack and all Bushfire did was to provide the wheels.
This was our 16th cache for the day and the good weather is starting to disappear and getting cooler.
Spotted something as soon as we arrived but did not check it out straight away but should have. A tight fit but we succeeded, log was signed in a hurry as we wanted to find all 21 caches that we had on our list. thanks.

First of the "Thanks to' series for me- an interesting way to discover the Enfield SF. TFTC.
I came down here with featherdown this morning to find the caches in this series. You have obviously given a lot of thought to your hides and the variety of cache hides today kept us on our toes. It is a long time since I have been into the Enfield Forest and during our time here we did not see another car until we exited the park near Scarsdale. We did not unfortunately have time for flyjabirus cache today as it was a tad off route.
Overall we had a great time, gathered in 15 caches and headed back to Ballarat for lunch before the weather changed for the worse.
Thanks for these sully1

Found by Mary & David at 1700. Easy to make a connection with CanClan, who we met years ago at an ingenious hide on a bridge near Castlemaine about five years ago. On the way to the cache, we passed a large woolshed, numerous farm gates, and fence wire everywhere. In short, many things metallic. Our thanks to sully1.
Found with tigersden, highrod and smegheads. The start of a short caching afternoon between events. TFTC
A group find with smegheads, highrod and kinkell1. We wanted to do some 4x4 caches in the area and this was a perfect day forit, the weather was cold and sultry, perfect for a drive in the bush. TNLN SL TFTC
