Well we found Monty a long time ago but looks like the cache is missing. Good while it lasted.
I clamboured up and down the rock face today. I looked high and I looked low. I sought, but I did not find Monty. I was however impressed with the number of xanathorea in the gully.
saw a couple snakes just chilling there so i dipped i couldn’t see it anywhere and it was very steep and dangerous to get there.
No sign of this one today.
Maybe it was a dumb choice in the dark and rain, but
Sebastbat helped not find it LOL.
We did find a broken plastic container, but we also found what may have been someone's lunch,
tuna tin, matchbox... Lots of rocks, But nothing under those which might have been desks,
or any others we searched for that matter.
We went down, then up, then down again, then up and down every rock we could find.
Where the bloody hell is the cache ! ! !
Thanks for the challenge firesafe ,
will place on the watch list and return asap.

2nd attempt, first one we were not prepared for the steep terrain, this time with the right shoes and tools aka teenage sons we managed a smilie. Tftc
TFTC - This was the second time around for this cache.
Found the cache hiding as the clue predicted.
I cannot work out why I didn't find it on my first visit bearing in mind it was in the middle of summer and very hot that day.
This cache is not for the faint hearted, and shouldn't be attempted after and during any rain.

Looked everywhere .. cause the GPS was all over the place. I am sure it is there somewhere.
Today I spent a couple of hours picking up a few solved mysteries and nearby Traditionals in the Northern suburbs. The sun was shining - perfect weather for geocaching.
This was a fun cache. A little bit of a scramble but a quick find in the end. I was a little worried about snakes but thankfully none were spotted today.
Thanks for the cache.

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Needed the cache for the day and this one was on the way to work with a slight detour so made the trip. Parked in the nearby street and started the trek to GZ. Scrambling down the slope to the creek bed was fun and finally reached GZ. So many hiding places and after a minute or 2 started thinking where the bloody hell IS Monty???? GPS was pointing me in one direction but instincts were telling me the opposite. Finally trusted the instincts and soon found the cache. Signed log and replaced and then as always found the short way out. Smile on the face and Smiley on the map. Gratias Pro Cache
Certainly not one for a Rat and an old Snake. We found monty so have many others, why then will the owner not come and get him??. The long way down but the short way back. Thanks for the cache and our excersise for the month.
Found after playing Burke and Wills in the creek bed.
Took the long way in but the short way out. TFTC

Having heard the antics of the Frog, Starman and Funguy, with reinforcements by a Dragon, Kangaroo and a Fireguy it was very rewarding to finally locate the cache that immortalises the episode. Thanks Firesafe!
Out and about on a Sunday arvo, went for a walk down the gully and spotted the cavemans desk. Had to walk backup as not a good idea to wear thongs. Went crackdown with the old man and retrieved the hidden treasure.

Came down here on my bike from the north end, chained it to a tree and went for a hike up the hill to GZ. Quick find, have to be careful when climbing on the rocks. Fun cache, thanks!
After climbing and climbing we found it
BEWARE OF FOXES WE SAW 2
VERY VERY NICE HIDING SPOT

After almost giving up on this one, we checked the clue. With in a couple of minutes of searching with a different mindset, we were able to find it.
Wouldn't want to do this one on a damp day.

Came from across the other side of the ( luckily dry ) creek and scrambled up to begin the search. With lots of potential spots, we ended up looking at the clue. Found what looked to be a nice desk but the cache ended up being on top of it.

I don't think anyone ever knows where Monty is. Sometimes I wonder if even he does...
Getting from he to Freddo HQ on a bus would not be easy (or quick) to do. Is that why it took you guys so long to find him in his own house?!

Clue was useless, awesome cache, long grass and prickels didn't help one bit. Thanks. Found with JarradMan
A bit of a tricky one to find this one, need to be sure of your footing getting this one, would not do this in wet weather

after much clambering over the terrain we managed to find this one. Didn't find any frogs but we did find a mountain goat, not just one goat but three. It seemed they were laughing at us as we were trying to get up the hill to the next cache. They were certainly more suited for the landscape that we were but we eventually got out. Cheers. MODU.
Well there's an event that needed a commemorative cache
Just goes to show, if you lose something, don't panic, it will probably turn up somewhere
Which, as I looked out over the abyss, had me wondering ..... "Where the Bloody Hell is the cache ?!?!?!" [:o]
You could get lost down there !!
I edged closer to GZ.
The occasional rock would roll out from under me feet and clatter over the rocks.
Hanging on for dear life, I spied a suspicious looking rock and scrambled over to question it.
It quickly confessed that it was hiding a cache and handed it over

PS: Don't call out the search parties ... I'm sitting at home with a cold beer

Home for us is Perth's Northern Suburbs but we have recently embarked on a trip around Australia with our Cat and Caravan.
Now touring SA after attending Oz Mega we headed out today to hit a few local caches.
Mr Felix headed off to find this cache. He found the cache but no sign of a Frog, Starman, Funguy, Dragon, Kangaroo or a Fireguy. No Police either.
Sounds like we missed all the fun! [:o)]

Having been here a while ago, I was prepared to look for some time but to my surprise the prize was quickly found. However, not without some climbing effort. Thanks firesafe.
Tricky to find but good way to kill a bit of time. recommend wearing sturdy shoes for searching and a whole lot of patience
Well I spent 20 minutes searching, but came up empty handed. Saw many good spots, but none that were perfect
Now, I have a further story to add to the CO's but that can wait until I find this blighter.

I've heard this story, so it was great to do the cache.
I approached from above, using the direct route (the Moneydork technique).

**late log** You know how when you clean out the garage or are packing to shift houses you find something you didn't realise you had been missing and you think "that's where that has been"? Yeah well that happens to me when I clean out hard drives after finalisation of my Australian citizenship. I do remember the caching trips, though, and in this case it was a weekend of caching after receiving a phone call from Moneydork asking what we have planned. When I say nothing, he says "yes you do" and the weekend is spent caching. Your cache was one in the area we chose to cache. I actually remember when this happened and how my heart sunk to learn the concern was for the frog. I was relieved to learn his love for a good glass of red won out over the temptation to be a missing person. Thanks, firesafe.
Rock hopping is fun! A fairly simple find thanks to accurate coords and a good signal today. [email protected] TNLN TFTC
Found this one with Cache ISM while out on a night time cache hunt. A fun little climb at night. TFTC
Scrambled up from the creekbed using phone for light. Not exactly smooth sailing but we managed to locate Monty in the end. My 150th cache! Cheers firesafe.
Since daylight saving meant that I still had daylight even after leaving work at 6pm, I decided to put that extra light to good use and have another try at this cache.
So glad that I changed from my work jeans into my caching jeans before coming here
Anyone who knows my non existant head for heights knows that I wasn't having fun here at all but.....I needed a cache for the day and this one was close by.
I saw something from my initial vantage point but couldn't reach it, so then I forgot and looked in several other spots before again glimpsing something that appeared just a tad out of place...
Sure enough, it was what I should have looked at the first time!
So eventually locus cache occurred, the log was signed and I did a Freddo and returned home for a nice glass of red wine....
I needed it after that search!

Left work and wanted to get my daily locus cache smiley ...except this time all I got was a DNF!
I parked and wandered then found myself in a cool spot...except that cool spot was waaaaay down and we all know that what goes down must come up!
Even the sun went down tonight, while I was still down and so coming up was a 'dodge the rocks and holes in the dark' event
Tricky hide apparently, so I will be back... and unlike a certain Frog, I think I will make sure my phone is charged and that someone knows where I am

Kizarae and I spent a good half hour climbing up, down and sideways to no avail. Found what looked like it should've been GZ guarded by either a snake or a lizard who we didn't feel like bothering, so we've decided to come back another day.
Wow what an awesome place for a cache! One of the most difficult terrains Mohuja and I have tackled so far - loved it!
Couldnt find Monty but i did find the cache after a good 15 minute search on a wet slippery day. nice location! fav point from me.
We eventually found this one after searching around for a while sith a bad sat lock. Spotted the desk and sat down to complete the paperwork.

A good day for a walk, so off to find caches. On first attempt, I thought this was going to be a DNF, but came back to it on return of walk and found straight away.
Found this one after approaching it from the more difficult side where I had to make my way across the empty creek bed. Dropped my GPSr on the way back but managed to back track and find it.
Thanks for the cache firesafe.

Found on Good Friday walk. This is an area close to home but never explored. Nice caveman area. Thanks for bringing me to this part of the prehistoric world. TFTC.
I came past this one the other day and realised that with the kids in tow it was not one I could do with the little people, so I put the call out to see who wanted to come with me while I was kids free for an hour and it ended up being me and a bee, I found the cache pretty quickly in the end, it helped that I was in the company of a previous finder.
Cache container was cracked on the bottom, sorry I did not have a replacement, it should stay fairly dry though where it is.
Thanks firesafe for the cache and laugh at the story behind the cache.

I walked down to the creek bed and then climbed back up to GZ. I didn't find Monty or even his skeleton. I did stumble upon a small ration pack of goodies in which i left my mark. I hope that Monty turns up. Thanks for the fun.
Came the bottom way, nice walk. Easy find by the geokids. We did not loose our Monty (he is our pet Spoodle)
With a bit of time this afternoon I thought I should see what all the fuss was about. My route in was probably about as treacherous as I could have made it without actually coming from the other side of the valley/gorge/ravine. Spying some likely caveman desks I thought it shouldn't take too long, but I was wrong. Then after a few minutes of scrambling about, I found it in the spot I hadn't looked at yet.
I found the easy way out, which was much better than my way in. Thanks all for an adventurous cache.

Had a laugh when I read the description. So when the cache was recommended by another newbie cacher webtan into earlier in the day retraced our steps to try this one.....well frustration was building, so many many many options.... Found the rope which a great help and not at all. Eventually found by my geobuddy, but more by good luck and persistence than skill I suspect.
Took nothing but time and patience. Left a pathtag and fav point Signed log Thanks for the cache

This was well worth the challenge and far being luck as my fellow geobuddy describes the find,I believe it to be skill, she said she would never have found it.TFTC
Gotcha!
After 3 easy finds already today with the geokids I thought a slightly more difficult one was called for. Only 2 1/2 stars. Shouldn't be too bad, I thought.
Well...
So many hidey holes, so many rocks, so little plastic...
Just as I was about to call it a day, Ah HA! There you are you little sneak.
Wasn't that hard after all.

having a look at the terrain stars I wondered if my 2 year old would be up for the adventure and i found he was fine. we took it easy and hand in hand to log this cache. He found a walking stick and some rope that kept him ammused while i put the cache back. My boy's first 3 star terrain. with kids the high terrain stars are harder to get but the boy did so well. tftcsl I dont think a 5 star is ready for him yet lol

On the night in question, I received the call to arms...
Unfortunately I was at hospital with geokid1 with broken arm!
A bit later, when that was dealt with, I made the call to find out where the search was taking place, only to be told it was at Monty's house! Because that is where he was!
Damn frog
All jokes aside, it is great that the geocaching community can band together the way it does, at a drop of a hat!
Whether it be to fix a cache, organise an event, or to find a Monty!
Glad you good mate
As far as this cache is concerned, I needed help myself, despite pretty good coords

Hadn't planned to do this one, but it came up close to where I parked the car whilst doing part of the 'Para-' series.
Had to work hard for a find on this one ... do my mountain goat bit ... pictures myself falling down this gorge and no one knowing I was down here ... but fortunately the feet were sure today, and I had it in hand.
Took a little bear soccer figure and left a car.
SL and mountain hiked out of here.

Hahahahaha! These logs are some of the best I've seen to date!
What an epic adventure!!
I can understand now, how the crew were worried about the welfare of the Frog in this terrain!
Let me tell you, if you've got any sense, it makes No Sense to attempt this cache from the Nonsense side of the creek
Like we did
"It's only 500m, let's go for a walk" said the Kat. Hahaha!
Geo-friend wanted some caching adventures on her first day of caching... So that's what she got
We came. We climbed. We scaled. We signed. We walked up the dry creek, climbed the steepest part of the bank to get back, and although Melly copped a beesting to the arm, and ALMOST copped another on the back of the leg, I do think she'll be back for more!!!!
What an adventure!
As Mel said, "pack a lunch, take lots of water, make a day of it"
I was nice enough to take her home, too
No lost amphibians today
Now... Time for a red??

Well you can't find one cache in this gorge without finding this one as well. To get the true effect do both caches well after dark with weak torches and on a dewy night.
As Astro told me the sorry tale of the events that unfolded here I realised that almost with uncanny coincidence that an almost identical scene occurred to me on a bushwalk some 30 years ago on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
In both cases the story involved buses and the police and both had similar happy endings. In the summer of 1981 I was on a bushwalk with my club and one of the party inexplicably went missing. He was a mildly retarded man in his early 50's and we were immediately very concerned for his welfare as the area had a number of small sea cliffs and thick bush which could trap the unwary. After 2 hours we called for help and reinforcements and soon after the police became involved in what became a very tense few hours. Eventually the police had the bright idea of ringing the guy's home where it emerged that he had arrived at some 40 minutes ago having made his way through the suburbs on a series of buses.
Talk about dejavu

Our adventure cache of the day !
Love the terrain - just the sort of place I'd expect a Z cache .
Scamperd around here for quite some time, not looking for a broken body, but for the cache [B)]. It was only when I stood several metres back, that it spotted the hiding spot
Took GC. LNSL.
Thanks Firesafe (we're all glad that Monty's OK as well) .

Well that was a great lunch time walk. Had been checking on my cache (ooh, there's a hint), and after nearing my geomobile found it was only 90m to find Monty, so decided to walk. Nearing I found I had to cross the gorge, but the other side didn't look to back.
Crossed over and after doing the easy bit found I had a 10m to go a climb out[B)]
Made it out and then found I had more climbing to do (alone). Was about to call it quits when I finally glimpsed it. That sure is a little desk
Knowing the terrain back down and across and up I decided just to continue up and follow the roads back to the car.
Felt stuffed after the journey, and I bet the others did last week too.
I'll also offer 4 reasons why you didn't locate Monty.
1. He became disorientated and wandered off after spotting the driveway which looked like a technicolour yawn.
2. He became distracted and started looking for more after spotting an Aussie Icon.
3. He became disorientated and wandered off after being hit on the head by a golf ball (as I had to avoid council workers driving balls off the top of the hills whilst I was walking at lunch)
4. You were looking on the wrong side of the creek! (ooh, there's another hint).
Dropped off a coin and a favourite point, for the fun I had today, and the joy my nearby cache keeps seem to keep giving
Perhaps Astro should pick up some of those "Lost Children" tags that they hand out at the Royal Show for Monty
TFTC Firesafe
Cheers

We were lucky enough to find a place to park the caravan very close to our favourite frog's place and so Bruce was able to join Mr Clear Skies and the Frog himself for their Tuesday night out amongst the caches. We had a most enjoyable night and this was one of the caches we targetted and found.

There I was, about 2 minutes away from home, after attending Skippy's birthday event at Roonka. The phone rings, and I answer to find that it's Astro. "Hey mate, have you got the final coordinates for (puzzle cache name omitted to try and protect it's location)? We've lost Freddo and we think he might be there." Okay I thought, this is a novel approach to social engineering a puzzle solution. However, I didn't actually have the solution, and it turned out that Astro was being serious. So I offered to help the search, turned the car around, and headed off to where they'd parked.
Anyway, the search had built up a lot of momentum toward the end, to the point where it was starting to approach dusk, and emergency services were contacted. Of course the most likely thing to happen at that point was for Freddo to ring and ask where Astro & Four-fun had gotten to. All's well that ends well. And I got to see the Mr Astro's cool facade start to crack, just a little .
I think there's probably several morals to this story, but I'll leave it to better minds to work out what they are... Although one I'm certain of is that the easiest way to find a cache is to be there when it's placed!
TNLN - Thanks firesafe!

I'm here. For some reason Astro tied a rope to my hand when I told him my phone was in the car.
[Scene, picture gorge with high terrain and rocks in places]

[both] " bloody hell........"
30 mins later: [both] "Where the bloody hell is Monty?"
