I decided to head to Ashburton and beyond to find a few caches this morning. Cache found as per the hint but the container is a lot smaller than described in the listing. TFTC, Biggles.
A beautiful autumn afternoon so we left the car up the road at the Hall and walked to GZ. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Day 3 and last day in Ashburton. After watching the All Black's World Cup match against Italy it was time to head out and seek some of my unfounds West of SH1. It hadn't been my intention to try for this cache as I knew that the ford would likely be unpassable even in my 4WD due to the recent rain. But after visiting the Elmer Fud cache and seeing it was so close I decided to go looksee. Amazing I found I was able to drive to within 18m of GZ and that the cache was nowhere near the river. The replacement container was located safe and dry under the original burnt one.

Out caching with mum for the day. It was meant to be the baby expo this weekend, and I was meant to have a stall there, but thanks covid, it was postponed again... so mum & I went caching instead.
Found a few together, though I was so pregnancy tired I was probably holding us up in terms of how many we could- have found!
Thanks though to all the COs for the caches Nice to tick off some more from the map.

Gz required an Indiana Jones approach due to the line put up by the farmer... I a wondering what happened to the original, metal too hot, or some chemical spill?? Certainly munted as... TFTC!!
Doing some Anzac Day hunting with ianfrnz and darkangel while driving out on the river. Found the sistema like the previous logs - had a rough life! Pill bottle found and fine condition for now.
Found, kind of with Busy paws, we found a burnt cache, plastic had melted but was at some time a sistema container. We replaced with a small pill bottle, have left original container in situ. Nice spot, haven't been along here before. TFTC.
Found (well, sort of) with Geomum007. The container had been totally burnt, just a bit of blue plastic sistema showing and some burnt paper. We took the liberty of replacing this with a small cylinder for now., and a repalcement log duly signed. Geomum007 will show photo with her log.. TFTH, it's a good spot.
Found with nissan 65. Flew in yesterday from sydney for a short holiday. Hoping to see as much as i can on the south island and pick up caches along the way . Thanku for the cache.
Found the cache but some loser has lit it on fire and melted it. Will require a replacement
After spending the weekend in Ashburton, it was time to head back to Christchurch - via the scenic route and several caches of course.
We approached from the west and after finding the cache (which was in excellent condition), we decided against the river crossing - too much fast flowing water, so had to travel quite a few extra kms to get to the other side. TFTC.

#14491. This cache was soon spotted, and the necessary info for its mate in the other side was noted. There was a good flow in the river, and it was an easy decision to do a U turn and take the scenic route to the other side. TFTC.
That hill comming up out of the river bed is not designed for minis... apart from mine that is cheers
Was looking forward to this and it's sister cache The Other Side on our trip around the countryside about Ashburton. This was an easy find once I got the GPS pointing in the right direction. Now to the other side.
There are some nice dusty roads around here down to the river.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
One of a handful of night caches today on the way back to Ashburton. A quick find. TFTC
Quick find after I got the right place, a combination of me misreading my GPS and it not settling meant originally I was looking at something more than 20m away! Actual coordinates are spot on though. Exactly what I was expecting for the associated mystery cache nearby. TFTC (1980)
Another nice cache to find easy location and was right in front me when we parked . A bit of a chilly day today but was great to see a nice area of country side. Tftc
Out on a 'mad mission' with TG to help me finish off Thompsons Track. We headed out early on a hot summers evening avoiding road blocks due to scrub fires. We came with some replacement caches for the trail too. We drove almost 250km had some rain, got a FTF driving from Ashburton 50kms away, solved a puzzle with phone batteries failing, collected those annoying seeds that poke into your ankles through your socks. Drove down some random roads.
I did 'the other side' some time ago and wasn't going to cross the river then so I left it. Quick find tonight.
Thanks for the cache.

Out and about on a lovely summers evening caching adventure with TheWanglers - tidying up the Thomsons Track series for TW. That done we diverted towards Ashburton to start collecting a few more. Quick find and sign; getting on dark. No water in the river so onwards to "The other side" via the direct route!
Cheers.
Cheers.
The littlest Bairdy was on top of the cache but couldn't see for looking. Another quick P&G find. TFTC. I think the *hint hasn't done the job it was supposed to for some time...
Day 7 of GCs 31 days of August challenge and I am still going strong.
Plan A was to go out while boys were at soccer trails and husband would look after junior but with all plans some of them don't work out the war we want them to. Mr KN was unable to get away from on time and actually only arrived after we had already been waiting for a while.
So it was on to Plan B which was after tea in the dark again. We had grabbed the nearby cache on a previous day but didn't have enough time to do this one also I think I was under the impression it was on the other side. Luckily I gave it a closer look online so approached from the correct direction.
Came out with middle son tonight and we were very impressed with how clear the sky was, the milky way was straight overhead. Such a beautiful night, we could clearly hear the wind in the nearby trees.
We continued along the road and yes there was water there. As it was dark it was hard to see how deep it was so although I may have proceeded if it had been daytime I didn't tonight. The river bank area certainly looked interesting from what I could see with my headlights so we will have to visit again during the day time.
Thanks for setting up this cache and it's twin which I hope to visit some time soon.

#92 of 105 for the day (& a couple of DNFs). It'll take a while to log this lot! The plan was to do the Thompson's Track series (we got all 80) plus enough others to beat Bo&bronnie's best in a day. Well we got this side but the other side had us foiled this time. TFTC
No worries with the road today, my Corolla rental handled it all no trouble. TNLN SL TFTC
Found on the way home on a sunny day, tree down over the stopbank and fe but no trouble finding the cache
Thanks
Thanks
Nearly missed this one as it was obscured on my map by a smillie across the river. Pulled up behind the organist once again. TFTC
Found without crossing the river. Fear we may have copied the instuctions for "The other side " down wrong or else it has been washed away when the river rose. TFTC
Another cache to add to our swag as we continue to see how many we can do in a day!
No trouble securing the cache - an easy find.

Quick find and although I now have the info for the other side there is no time for it today.
187 of 270 for a day stretching from Danseys to Thompson's Track

Found as part of the Gangsters- The Rats, Farmer Frentzen and Big Matt and Shell- as part of our NZ Mega Event Tour 2012.
Big Matt was right about this one- our car was not going through to the other side today . TFTC!

Day two of Sully1's and my New Zealand trip from Christchurch to Dunedin.
Today was only as far as Oamaru, and the weather, once it warmed up, was superb.
A couple of heavy showers throughout the day made it feel like home in Victoria.
Thanks again Nimrod, the other side was a bit of a challenge for the hire car

Found during 'The Gangsters' trip to New Zealand, being Big Matt, The Rats, steeba and myself.
The river was in full flow today and definitely no chance of taking the Juvy Lucy mobile across the other side.
Thanks N!mrod for the cache.

Found with bogonghazy on day 2 of our short assault of the SI, whilst here for NZ Mega. We cached from Christchurch to Oamaru today, and only a few short showers throughout the day, which didn't deter us from continuing on with a numbers run. Thanks to the CO for placing this cache and for bringing us here.
Found this cache as part of the Gangster's Aussie assault on the first NZ Mega with Big Matt, FarmerFrenzten and steeba.
We chose the right way to access this and luckily we did. Our rental wouldnt have made it across this fast flowing river.
Thanks

Our 6202nd overall find.
Found on the "Gangsters" NZ Mega 2012 trip with steeba, The Rats and FarmerFrentzen. We were in a hire car and normally they go anywhere but not this time. We had to turn around.
Thanks N!mrod for the cache.

I'd been to the church just down the road and dropped by here - the google maps suggest one can just drive across here - but lots of water flowing today. TFTC.
A quick easy find on this side. We’ve decided where The Other Side is, but it will have to wait until another day. TFTC
Indeed this side, not too hard. Water a bit deep for the other side! TNLN Thanks
#92 of 100 on a caching day out with Kiwi Moose. Other side another time. Way too much water for the mighty Caldina Had great weather, a great time and there were not too many other people about. Thanks for the day out.
The search for a crossing continues I see. Glad for maps as I could confirm I was on the right side this time. Stunner of a day.
Thank you for placing this cache.

TFTC. Initially I attempted to approach this from the wrong location and so drove around and found the correct approach.
4490. Had a bit of time to spare in the Rakaia/Ashburton area today while visiting some earthquake refugee friends so did a few geocaches during the day. Did several in this area by mountain bike to save petrol - and the car - but decided that this one would be a park and grab. Thanks, Rodney & Iris.
Parked on the other side and strode through the crossing in our gumboots. Quick find.
Dropping coin - Braden River Historical Society coin we were sent from overseas. Thought a Braiding river cache would be appropriate
