I called by to pick up the broken elephant well over a month ago. Too many pieces to put back together so this old one has wandered off to the great elephant graveyard.
I have visit and removed the broken cache. I had intended to replace this but the weather and work have got in the way. I will be back in Nelson in the New Year and sort it then.
When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz.
This was a very sad to find here. Took us a long while searching as I had ruled out the "rubbish in the bush" turned out to be the cache. its in pieces. and the log book is wet and shrivelled. This makes no sense as the CO checked on this not so long ago.
We have reunited all the pieces and put in a black bucket we found close to GZ with a temporary logbook. Sorry for the badnews isis58. We have photos if you wanted to message me. TFTC

Found this out with Shellsadventure... it was actually 4 bits of white elephant. He might need a visit and some tlc from the CO.
Out for the day with Pomsabroad down the coast track to Rabbit Island. Seventh find of the day but got wet feet
Out for a morning cycle. Parked up and went on Safari. Spotted me an elephant and a cache. Quickly signed and replaced and popped back onto the bike and away. Thanks for the cache.
Eventually found..not sure how long it will be here for ..lots if fresh surveying being done ..new pegs in ground...co ords seem a tad out on my gps ...thanks Isis58 cool theme
Well that was interesting! GPS had me over the drain and out in paddock, but clue led me to the white elephant. The trees have had a battering and things may or may not be happening in paddock. Thanks for the cache isis58
Taybeedragon and I are in Nelson taking some stress off a later trip to Christchurch to hunt for the elusive turtle. I thought this section of the cycle way might be a could place to find the dragon that hopefully will give us some tips to finding that turtle. Well, we found that dragon, but the turtle, as expected, is proving to be a problem. I don't think it is here in Nelson.
Okay... that's an intriguing cache container.... We took the fenceline route to the cache, but as I was wearing gummies, and the creek has a stoney bottom, I took the shortcut back. At which point I discovered I have a split in my gummies! Arrrgh!!!!! Now I need new gummies The dragon took the long way back and still has dry feet. And fully working gumboots. White ones.

The Seagnoid, Toby and I are off to Nelson to hopefully find some hidden creatures along our way. Its an early start out of Blenheim just after 6am. Weather forecast is for rain this afternoon so the earlier the better. Its a bike ride along the estuary so Jack and Jill have come along for the ride. Have the Dragon bagged so now its the elusive Turtle. Will it be in Nelson?
Thought it might be the hut but no its over the ditch with lots of water. I decide to take the long route along the fence line. Would have been easier if I had read the cache info but need my glasses for that. The Seagnoid snags the White Elephant at GZ. Cool a real white elephant. Love it. Cheers.

Mr geco was with me and used his best balancing technique to Access the cache which was quickly found once he got there...I stayed on the mainland lol. Tftc
TregearP and I have completed part of this path from the other direction but hadn't got this far. Today we had a couple of hours spare and decided to attack the remaining caches from the other end.
This one was a slight detour but well worth it. A little difficulty getting to the GZ but greatly enjoyed the surprise when we got there. Have a FP.
A quick find with all in good order. Signed log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache.

A little tricky to find the right entry point but had to laugh when we got to the cache, very funny. All in good order, TFTC
Took the safe way to this, and saw a quicker, riskier way out afterwards. Yeah, nah. Took the safe way out, which meant muddy sandals for the rest of the day. All good at GZ, except outer bag not sealing properly. No probs though. TFTC Isis.
Monday was Marlborough Anniversary Day, so a good chance for myself and Jo to head over the hill for a few smilies. It has been a while since we have done some caching, so we were looking forward to this. So we loaded up the bikes with the aim of sampling some of the good taste trail in and around Richmond and Hope. That proved to be a moderately successful few hours. Then a stop for some retail therapy and a bite to eat, and with the weather looking a little more menacing we decided to do rack up the steeds and do park and grabs for the rest of the day, in whichever way they fell. Good fun, and the rain never eventuated, so all up an enjoyable trip. Thanks to all COs, and apologies for the cut and paste.

I have been parking by this cache for the past few days while doing the caches along the cycle trail so today I thought it was your turn .With gumboots on headed off had to stand on trip toes as water a bit deep ,great container this cache deserves a favorite .Tftc isis58
Well thought I made it across nice n dry.. then dropped my fone in the water !!! I've destroyed many a fones this way while treasure hunting !! Luckily I decided to buy the new waterproof s8 fone last week.. so I'm logging this cache as my fone drip dries. Tftc.
Struggled a bit to get to gz but that was just trying to take a short cut. Pleased we found this as I wondered where all the white elephants had gone.....this one is a trophy no doubt and in the best place he could be...great cache, thanks
Found on a sunny new years day bike ride from Stoke to Rabbit Island. Had to go the long way around due to high tide but worth it for a very unique cache that is luckily out of range of muggles. Gets a FP from us.
Well he. Is certainly white nice one. Tricky getting there but worth it. Log is full. Tftc
#2811. After attending a funeral in Blenheim yesterday, I decided to spend the night in Nelson and give myself a chance to make start on the very large numbers of caches in this region. By 4pm when I dropped off the rental car at the airport, I had managed to find 37 caches between Nelson and Motueka (plus one more cache in Wellington to fulfil the requirements for the "North and South Island in One Day Challenge" GC5RJFK). From where I first parked the car, the access to the cache looked rather precarious. So headed around the corner and found another access route that looked more promising. Soon found the cache but the container was a bit of a surprise. Rather an oddball cache. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here.
Braved the balancing beam to get over the creek. After a big sigh of relief a quick look around had the very cool container in hand.

Found that cache with a friend on a bicycle trip on a sunny winter day. Thank you for that cache! Danke! Greetings from Germany! Grüße aus Deutschland!
Although an elephant is my favourite animal, due to hubby wanting the training on the GPS, I am standing back and keeping my clothes clean. He avoided the mud and got the cache.
Not being the adventurous type, we opted for the safer but longer route to this and managed to keep, the feet dry in the process. TFTC!!!
Found on a bit of a geo-day but only found this one in the end! Thanks Isis58 for making the day a success.
No problems locating this cache today. Thankfully the water was low so I managed to jump the water with no issue. Thanks for the cache.
#10399. I brought my sandals expecting to have to wade, but when I got to GZ the tide was high and it looked a bit deep. I then found the fenceline route and kept my feet dry (if I had read the cache description I would have known I could keep my feet dry and could have left my sandals at home). Quick find once I got to GZ. TFTC.
TFTC. Up in this lovely part of the world for a weekend with my fab girlfriends. However that kicks off tomorrow - what could I possibly do today????
I decided to focus on a few caches around Richmond and Brightwater on this beautiful sunny day.
I signed the log 29.11.15 by mistake it was the 27.11.15.
Fun accessing this cache which I very much enjoyed.
A favourite point from me.
Thanks Isis58 for placing the cache.

Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland

Seventh day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards south. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. Driving to south and heading to Christchurch Mega event. Heading south by west coast via some nice caches!
On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Today we drove from Nelson to Greymouth. Of course we caching on the way. This was one of todays finds. TFTC!

Never thought I would ever see a white elephant, but there it was all the way from France. TFTC.
Another weekend, yay. Another trip over the hill to Nelson, yay (ish). Off to the shops to look for a new lounge suite, a bike rack and a trip to Richmond Mall, (not yay) So the deal was struck. A blend of shopping, a few caches, Tally the dog along for the trip and a visit to Tahunanui Beach to get some sand therapy. Weather promises to be good all weekend which is a bonus and means I can plan to do caches without the encumbrance of a raincoat.
Made tis a Terrain 5 by faffing around r=trying to jump across the tiny stream without wetting my town shoes (trainers were in the car) Made the find easily enough and nice came employed here near the trunk. Replaced as found then took the long (safe and dry ) way back to the car

On a geocaching holiday with tmann421 seeking out caches at the top of the South Island. Thanks to all the CO's for making this such a memorable trip.
Another good hide here.

Pleased I found this as I collect elephants (not the real ones of course!). Went via the fence line so no muddy feet. Thanks for the cache.
Got my shoes a bit muddy crossing the moor, but they scrubbed up fine afterwards, so no complaints. I initially thought this had something to do with the structure on the other side of the road, but that turned out not to be. Nice cache. Cheers and TFTC
On a lovely spring morning, biked to my cache of the day. Instead of the meandering Great Taste trail, chose the dangers of Lower Queen St, made even more dire by the current road works [xx(]. Made it to GZ without mishap. I hadn't read all of the cache description beforehand, which has had repercussions at times, so was unprepared for the mud separating me from the cache [B)]. Luckily was able to walk through it OK without losing a shoe or even getting my socks dirty.
I enjoy fossicking in second hand shops and have picked up some items which have been turned into cache containers (there is a small series of these in Lower Hutt), but none as interesting as this container. Good to get this white elephant too as found the Geraldine version a few years back.
Thanks for the hide and for day #127 of my streak.

Took Route B for this one and quickly found the cache. It's ones like this that remind me why I need to keep some tweezers with me. Roadworks currently at the junction meant I needed to time my return journey well. TFTC
Initially I chose the wrong route, but got there in the end. Found on a bit of a bike ride from Richmond to Rabbit Island, and almost Mapua (if we had made the ferry). Thanks for the hide.
Mucky to get to but what a great cache! By coincidence my last find was also by isis and both certainly earn a favourite, so thanks for that! http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif
We hopped skipped and jumped and found this cache. A fun container.TFTC.
The caffeine must have kicked in! TFTC. No 25 of 75 in a month needed for the MGSC.
Found directly. Part off the cache name clue seemed to be truncated, as was the object of concern. No gumboots required. A Great hide. TFTC. [^]
not sure how this one got a needs maintenance log because no one has made one - must be somehow due to samy!'s log. Anyway came with everything necessary to clean this up except another log and it really needed one. Cache taken away to sort out.
Good find on our first bike ride on the new cycleway nearby.
*As mentioned by "Teamteapot" in their encrypted log I also found in the same way*.
Getting to the cache site wasn't a problem as I was able to get across from the corner and tread carefully across towards the cache site, just a bit disappointed to come away with very sticky hands.

Like the container. Took a while to work out how to get across to it. Got there in the end.
[One wet foot, but worth it! TFTC ] Wasn't sure if the note written on paper and placed in the opening of the container was significant? It was saturated and it disintergrated on opening. We couldn't read it. Anyway the 'inner organs' were nice and dry.
Always in our gumboots this time of year. Great cache & remember doing the one at Geraldine. TFTC
First find of a very successful day. Managed to get across the creek with only one wet foot TFTC

Whoa! Took a bit of effort catching this elephant. Goodness knows what the passing motorists think you're up to....sadly I lost my only means of writing on this adventure so couldn't sign the log, but loved the container. Glad I had my glasses on too......
[maroon]Day 4 of our 5 day Easter caching roadtrip. Today we were heading from Nelson towards the Mini Trail near Motueka, going up one way and coming back the other.[/maroon]
The container brought a smile to our face. Nicely done. Sadly people have been using more than 1space in the logbook so its gonna fill up quicker. Thanks for the cache

Today I Went for the 100 caches in 1 day. With a very early morning and just breaking even at lunch time with 50, it looked like it was going to be 12am to 12pm. But after a move out of the city they started to speed up, and i managed to grab the last at 20:30 with 106!! Thanks everyone for the caches that they have placed, from the ones that have been planed for months to the park and grabs
Out biking and a very slight detour had me at this cache site. Big leap, quick find - loved the cache container but glad it is not sitting on my shelf!!
thank goodness GK has long spritely legs for jumping and ML has good eyes for signing the log, TFTC
Second try, we wernt too keen to jump the 1st time so came back with the super jumper of our team to do the deed! Cache was an easy find, love it!!!! An awesome hide, thanks!!
We came back past here this morning and sure enough low tide! Jumped across and soon had the cache - cute! Not sure why someone would have issues finding the log to this one - someone has signed the outside of the container!. TFTC
Tide was a bit high to go for this one! Not a problem, we're in the neighbourhood for a while. We can come back!
balance wasn't good this morning. or maybe it was all that mud was on one gumboot. and it made me lean too far left. anyhow i got wet feet. i thought cachers were supposed to sign the logsheet. not plaster their black vivid on the actual cache. quick find tftc
In town for a wee family holiday. Mr G grew up in Richmond. Wee dudes tucked up in bed, grandparents in charge. Evening run over & still some time on our hands. Time for some night car caching out Appleby way. Hit GZ hesitantly. tide was low so only a bit of water in the creek (too much to cross in runners though!)....by torchlight we saw a LOT of eels gliding around. Facinating. Squelched through the mud to GZ in my runners...eek....quickly signed the cache, then came back across the plank. Nice spot. Cheers.
Many thanks for placing and maintaing the caches, on a cache run for a few days to get to 8000 finds, and 2000 finds for the year.

Mr Geckoh walked the plank, risking life and limb in search of the White Elephant. Fortunately it was a quick find and he made it back again safely. TFTC

Great hide!! I don't know what I was expecting, but had to laugh when I saw the cache. A favourite for me. TFTC
Needed to drive to the Mussel Inn for a gig so took the opportunity to leave early and cache my way there. This was the first of a great trip with just one DNF, started out very well with a hop skip and a jump taking me right to the spot and the great container, back in the car clean and dry in a few moments. TFTC
Bit of a cruise around tonight grabbing a few caches that I hadn't had a chance to get. Easy find tonight with little traffic about and the tide out. Cheers!
Yes indeed lucky MuzzaL53 had his gumboots...we had to run around the side. Great cache container !

Found on a great days caching with KiwifruitsNZ. Not sure what made me throw a pair of gumboots in the car but they certainly came in handy on this one. Loved the cache.
