What a pleasant walk in the Botanic Gardens. Really enjoyed this cache. I was wondering what the cache would look like, making meaning of the hint. It did surprise me. Thanks for the cache!

Cool wee spot, but slippery today, TFTC.

Very enjoyable multi and fun find at the end. Cheers

26-Apr-24
A big wander around the gardens today getting a fistful of multi points (37 I think!) and finally got a decent looking final location. ON the way out, parked up and made the find, nice work! Cheers

Wow what a journey to get to this one! With Docndi & Mr Juju made the find! TFTC

Here on a tour with a cruise company. Was able to spend time in this beautiful garden. Such an amazing place. Thanks for the mini tour

This multi made for a great afternoon exploring the Botanical Gardens with the family. Started with an ice cream at the cafe, then off around the waypoints. Found a lovely new hexagonal wooden gazebo recently constructed in the rhododendron dell, could still smell the freshly sawn timber. Stopped for a snack in the dell and to work out the final location. Kids were excited to find loot in the cache. Thanks for the time spent putting this together so we could have this weekend adventure!

HOLY COW. what a voyage. My first multi cache ever, thanks for the experience! Found with emilykevans:))

25-Nov-23
Found it! That was an ordeal, but a satisfying conclusion

24-Nov-23
Waypoints need to be checked. Sid's sign was there a few weeks ago. While work is going on in Rhododendron Glen, temporary gift waypoint I = 3

24-Nov-23
All the aviary signs have been updated within the last month - so many thanks to doyouevenlint for letting us know. Sid's new sign still says says "Sid is living solo for now", but there's no speech bubble. New question for G: Reading Sid's sign, the number of letters in the word AFTER "enclosure" = G For I: While work is going on in Rhododendron Glen, temporary gift waypoint I = 3

First sorry for late log online. We enjoyed a walk around gardens while on holiday but kept final for a blank dot multi day. We had been in Mosgiel but came back to Dunedin for a few nights to enjoy another event for Wilbywarrior. This is a fantastic multi that takes you to everything of interest in the gardens. Thanks for setting up this awesome multi and a fun and appropriate cache daywalk. Plant very said but still fun. A fav from us.

Back from holiday and a fine day - so did a maintenance run for this cache. There certainly has been a rough sleeper here, but they obviously left a while ago. I put the cache back where it should be - luckily it hadn't been opened and removed the empty wine casks, plastic bags and bedding.

01-Mar-23
This was quite a mission and we certainly got to see some of the highlights of these extensive gardens. It was very hot at our final waypoint as we sat on the nearby seat doing the calculations and as we made our way to GZ, I decided to do more checking that I had things right before attempting the find. Turns out everything was in order and we made it to GZ a couple of days later. Seems that someone has made this their home! They were not in residence and we found the cache all intact but amongst some belongings of the resident. Signed the log and made a hasty retreat. TFTC

13-Jan-23
Made my way around the gardens in a single sort of loop picking up way limits for 4 different caches as I went. Given how I normally struggle away with one points multi-storey I’m surprised I didn’t get all the numbers on a muddle. Cache safe and sound after finding my way to gz. I thought if taking the short cut but went the long way

26-Dec-22
I had tried for this one a couple of days ago but came up empty-handed. After talking to the CO she gave me more specific instructions. So I left for today as I needed this cache for a multi dot-day challenge that will be published next year..

IToday I came back and searched one item that she mentioned but there was nothing there. Then I spied a second one and searched that one and using my pokey pole it came up with a different sound than from hit dirt and stones. Ah! There it is or is it. Upon further investigating, yep, this was it. So I duly signed the logbook. I then exited a different way than what I entered the GZ.

For the ffort I expended to gather the coords and searching for the cache, I'm giving it a favourite point.

Cheers for the cache.

Maintenance done.

Another after-school geocaching expedition today. Worked our way around the Gardens, found the clues, checked the checksum and located the final nice stroll back to the car and the down to the final but which time we were all tired so a quick call to the CO confirmed we were in the right spot and elaborated on the nature of the hint object. With that added knowledge we were all happy to locate the cache and swooped some swag. TFTC and the enjoyable afternoon. PS Sid’s sign has changed but the clue still works

08-Feb-22
Not sure of the date but definitely went down and logged it recently.
Had difficulty getting myself to the final cordinates but after a chat with some fellow cachers at an event it wasnt a problem at all. So if you arent a local, try from the road

16-Nov-21
A fine day to wander around the gardens trying the three multis. Had issue at gz as what looked suspicious was in full view of a sleepy muggle. Decided to avoid it. Plugged the numbers into gos as better than the phone and found the sad looking hint item and the prize. A nice walk and a nice place to finish deserves a fave.

Found during second visit this place, discovered really fast. I found here really nice geothing but I didn't have anything to put instead of it so to be fair I left it for next people coming.

Out and about today for some caching. Had our family xmas a few days ago before we left home so today was just us. Decided to hit central Dunedin today as figured there would be less people around. The only people we did seem to hit was a couple of Chinese tour groups.

Well, that took a while, didn't realise there were so many waypoints when we started it plus we were also doing another multi and the adventure lab. Anyway eventually rounded up all the information and got the checksum to work. Headed off to the calculated final and for a moment we weren't sure if we were in the right spot but a recheck of figures confirmed it. Had a good hunt around and didn't find anything, then hunted some more and only found the debris of locals drinking etc down there. Finally a hunt in a slightly different spot yielded the cache. Log signed quickly and we made our way back to the car before getting too wet. tftc

New Zealand is under Level 4 lockdown from today for at least a month, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I am disabling all my caches for the meantime to remind people that we MUST break the chain of infection.

Covid-19 is now being spread within the community, person to person. We know that the virus will remain on surfaces like metal and plastic for up to 4 days.

We have only one chance to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading further. This is to BREAK the chain of infection by keeping each household separated completely. During this time each of us MUST keep isolated and only share with the people in our own household.

The best advice is to act as though you are infected... which you might be. We know there are cases in Dunedin... I might be infected and so might you.

If you touch a cache container, you will leave viruses on the plastic, logbook and pen. Those will remain infectious for up to 4 days. Suppose some other person finds the cache tomorrow. They are likely to pick up those viruses and will get infected.

Playground equipment is out of bounds for exactly that reason- touching surfaces can spread infection.

Each of us has to do our bit to save lives. If the Covid-19 virus spreads, a lot of us will die. Maybe your grandmother, or my friend who has just had a bone-marrow transplant.

Stay home, stay safe, let's get to the other side of the pandemic before we go geocaching again.

Round the world trip Smile Made it to New Zealand and will be traveling all around the Islands. On my way along the eastcoast I’ll be exploring Dunedin.
Today: Botanical Garden. I love taking pictures of plants and flowers... So I started in the upper garden and did the cementery in between. Collected some numbers of this one also. Unfortunately I couldnt find the first two Multi Caches - I was very disapointed by spending so much time without a find Sad

This one I continued after a coffee break in the cafe. The numbers seemed to be correct so I went for the final. I didnt trust the result at first and counted everything again. But yes.. its probably right. Been circeling the area and had no idea about the hint - until I saw it. Nice one and finally a find! Fav point from me.
After 15K steps with my knee (many surgerys) it was a long hard day and I will have a cold drink now Smile

Thanks for bringing up this cache!

Vielen Dank fürs legen und pflegen und beste Grüße aus Leipzig!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

17-Jan-20
Achieved this find over a couple of days, as spent a very enjoyable few hours collecting the information from the gardens, with the muggle indulging my need to find obscure signs here and there!

Lost confidence after a cursory search at final gz, as felt a bit exposed being a non local. Decided to abandon the hunt and go out for dinner instead!

Later that evening the C.O. kindly confirmed that my coords. were correct, and provided reassurance that I'd been on the right track. So I returned with the muggle and resumed the search, barely 4m from where I'd already been. Chuckled when I saw the hint item and I think that the muggle was even more relieved that I wouldn't get the grumps through a DNF!

Thank you daywalk for placing & maintaining this cache and helping me with my search.

Gardens are looking great. But need some rain.

31-Oct-19
I had attempted this one previously but the check sum didn’t work! So back today to redo and my maths gave me a good result.
After a quick search I had the log signed. Tftc

29-Sep-19
New container and new camouflage in place. From a note in the logbook, it seems the cache was found by children and the container rolled away and was unretrievable. All good to go.

02-Sep-19
Thought I'd just stroll past the final on the way home from work, since it was such a beautiful day.. Oh, there's a swap lying on the grass. Oh dear, the 'camouflage is gone and there's only a brick on the cache.... the logbook is there although a bit the worse for wear, and so is the top of the cache container ... BUT oh bother, the bottom half of the cache container is gone. No-one has mentioned a problem, so when did this happen?

So, cache removed for maintenance. May be a few weeks since it would be nice to arrange the proper camouflage again.

This person hasn't signed the logbook -
Corajboo Premium Member [Caches Found] 20 Found it 24/Aug/2019

But Lyrla86 DID sign the logbook on 9 March 2019 - think they were with Mogelias17.

I am always surprised when a Multi works out for me !
I had collected a lot of the WP info in previous trips to Dunedin & finished collecting it yesterday. Calculated F & the access WP both looked fairly sensible and today I found the cache.
I hadn’t walked around some of these parts of the Gardens for 40 years - lots on memories.
Thanks for the journey and the cache, daywalk. Another FP from me.

I made a start on this multi while I was at the gardens last Sunday. Today I had some work to do but it was such a lovely morning that I thought I would come and complete it before spending the rest of the day in front of a computer. I really enjoyed this multi and the various trails that I walked to the various parts of the gardens to gather the data. No problem with the find either - a lovely peaceful spot today. A lovely autumn day and beautiful sunshine so time for a stroll around the gardens. Got the numbers needed and a likely place for the final so off I go. Cache located after a bit of toing and froing and glad the resident spider was nowhere to be seen...must have been out enjoying the sunshine too! A very enjoyable cache to find thank you daywalk

09-Mar-19
We came here twice until we finally found the cache. Ouer first attemp was right and answering all the questions wasn't hard. However by the time we finished it was getting dark and very chilly. The GPS signal was confusing and we weren't sure whe the cache was supposed to be.
So we came back the next time and approached the cache from the other side starting at the parking spot close to it. This way it was way easier and we soon found the cache.
Spider is still leaving there, so we just signed the log book and made sure to not disturb it any further.

16-Feb-19
This was quite the adventure, partly due to my own missteps and poor planning. Eventually I found the way to the final and found the cache, feeling validated at last! TFTC

Beautiful walk through the Botanic garden.
The final was a bit difficult to get to but a nice scenery was showing up.

Today I arranged to go for a walk with a muggle friend, and decided to make it more interesting by taking her on this journey through the Gardens. Comments like "I haven't been there since my wedding photos were taken" showed that it was high time she did...so off we went, looking for this, counting that, and generally walking in circles. Deciding that wet feet weren't the go and agreeing that we collectively had more than a "skerrick of common sense" we used the suggested access to the final, which she found. The resident spider is still there- the first mention of this arachnid in the logs is January, let's track its progress and see how long it lives....

Managed to make this cache much harder than it needed to be. Collected all the information but somehow got sums all wrong and ended up in the middle of a pathway outside the info centre which made no sense with logs. Checked sum and one over so revisited most likely errors (is it a fish, is it a dolphin???) couldn’t find my error so revisited all waypoints, all numbers correct I can’t add them. Got GZ finally - wasn’t sure how to work the hint and web didn’t help - I need simple - so went with simple - did a drive by and yes had cracked it. Ignoring signs always makes me hesitate with geobubs but carried on - thought the spider was going to be some clever camo, nope it’s a real spider living in the cache. Had lost pen so did best scrawl with damp cache pen - didn’t explore cache further due to said spider. Didn’t need to be this much work but kept us entertained. TFTC#80

05-Feb-18
Had a wonderful walk around the gardens but underestimated the time it would take. Low on stamina, I guesstimated I and took a break. Later the same day I tried for a final and got very frightened by the resident squatter of the cache. A good jaunt! Tftc

30-Jan-18
Found after a pleasant walk round the gardens gathering the required information. It was however a very hot day (around 30 degrees!) so we repaired to the cafe for a drink and a cooldown before heading for GZ. Thanks to the very helpful hint we soon found the way in and headed for the cache which we found quickly. It’s lucky someone told us there are no dangerous animals in New Zealand as we were confronted by a rather large spider! We quickly signed the log and replaced the cache leaving the spider to her slumbers. Thanks for an excellent adventure which merits a favourite .. Greetings from England

On parental leave we used the time for some stops to visit interesting places. This was one of them Smile Thank you for leading us to this location.

I like multis as they bring you around a place, and this one was fairly comprehensive for the Botanic Gardens. The final location was rather surprising as anticipated, and left me wondering whether it was actually part of the Gardens.

Anyway, I took the logical way to the garden, though the danger sign at the access point was some cause for concern (it is not). I got to GZ wondering whether I will be having a protracted search in the overgrown mess. Turns out it was a fairly straightforward find, and a happy log-signing in the shade. Thanks for the lovely Multi!

After a false start or two I got it all sorted out and worked out how to approach it. I decided to leave it be as there was a possibility that it might come in handy for a challenge and today it helped with a couple of them. The main one was the monthly challenge near christchurch airport where I needed four different types of caches. I already had done a multi but that was recently overwritten by a puzzle one. As I got close to where I thought that it would be I found the GPSr pointing over the water so I backtracked and headed that way. I was a bit puzzled at first and then realised that I was heading to the icon co-ordinates as I hadn't changed to the waypoint mode after checking on the hint. All dry within.

Enjoyed the walk! Stopped and did another around the aviary in the middle. Had to double back on one i messed up. Hadn't been to the geozone before so that was nice. A good way to spend a sunny afternoon tftc!

Really enjoyed exploring the gardens. So many different features. Final stage was all fine. TFTC

We really enjoyed collecting all of the information for this multi as it took us to all of the interesting sites in the beautiful gardens. When we calculated the position of the final we were not sure we had it correct but pressed on and found our way to GZ where the container was soon spotted

Yippee!! Happy to find this one. Out on St. Patrick's Day with helper D tonight! Gorgeous spot!! Tftc!!

28-Feb-17
Today was our second day in Dunedin. In every town we visited in the last years we visited the botanic garden. So it was nice to do it with a cache. The questions were easy to answer. But we needed some time to figure out the way to ground zero. Thank you for this nice cache in this beautiful garden.

03-Feb-17
Enjoyed reading all the information boards and stopped for coffee to work out the final co-ordinates. Once I'd realised I was in the wrong location and taken a different route the GPS led me straight to it. TFTC

We really enjoyed walking around this beautiful botanical garden and every stop on the way to final Smile Final was a bit tricky as we first approached from wrong direction, but with the help from hint, we found a better way to approach it and were successful in the end Smile

20-Aug-16
I had heaps of trouble with this one. Not reading the clues correctly. Must have walked round three times. Finally got it.

13-Jun-16
Grabbed the numbers over the last month, but must have had one wrong as I kept going to the wrong place. Soon figured out my mistake and headed to the cache this morning! Never even been there before! Cute wee hint object too! Big Grin

01-Jun-16
Emboldened by CO's kind words and patience, the first (official) day of winter seemed the right time to find this one! Went straight to the spot, and really enjoyed the hide, as well as the multi itself - as ever, cheers daywalk! Worthy of a tick Smile

15-May-16
This was a nice one! Enjoyed the leisurely morning stroll through the gardens. Were a bit stumped first how to reach the final, but then found the access. Thanks for putting in the effort for the cache!

28-Apr-16
Not a DNF...More like a DNA (Did Not Attempt). Have been sitting on the final co-ords for this for absolutely eons, and after badgering the CO (and having my suspicions graciously confirmed), it seemed like today was the day to make it a daywalk trifecta (see other logs) - sadly, a Danger sign nearby, plus the lethally warm and inviting early Autumn sun put a dampener on Mr Rex's efforts...will try again in due time.

06-Apr-16
Great day for a leisurely stroll through my childhood playground. TFTC

Checked the gardens - all growing nicely and cache waiting for next gardeners to find it.

We had a long walk through the garden and we got a feeling that we missed a big part of it. This garden is huge! We gave food to the ducks and it felt kind of Hitchcock's Birds.
All waypoints were found without problems and we found a good path to the final.
Thanks for well-built multi, greetings from Finland!

Another wander round with Gadget after a hard day at work. Been to the Gardens a few times. but went some places today that I had never seen. New favourite place is the Mediterranean Garden. TFTC

05-Jan-16
It was a great walk around the gardens tonight with Sirbennis going to all the locations to get the info for the final. There are so many places that I have not been before so was fun as well as interesting. We took the hard way to the GZ but kept our feet dry so that was good as my Geocaching shoes are my work shoes as well so TFTC ☺

Checked today. 'Le Fils du Dieu' has claimed a find online (logged online 14 Dec 2015, at the same time as they claimed online finds for Northern Cemetery Heritage, Dunedin Views, Royal Oak, Butt it's Muddy and Upper Gardens). Disappointing to see that 'Le Fils du Dieu' has not signed the logbook.

While visiting the beautiful Botanic Garden we answered the questions of this cache. We had no problems to find the final. Thank you for the nice walk, the information and the cache!

18-Sep-15
Yay! Sorted, finally! We have started collecting the clues several times before, but something always intervened! I think this morning when we set off with determination to complete the whole multi, I only vaguely remembered on number... The very first item was impossible to determine in the dark, so we had to go around the others (and a couple for the other multi, we'll see how that will go...) and return to the starting point. I forgot to add a number, so the checksum did not make sense initially, but we soon realised the mistake. However, it has dawned on us in the meantime, and we had to leave the final for later amongst worries about finding a park. We returned in the afternoon after a blizzard that happened in the meantime and the rain afterwards - we were very lucky to have an enjoyable walk to the final during the five minutes of clear sunny skies!! I am impressed how well the cache has lasted given the events earlier this year... Thanks heaps, very enjoyable adventure!!!

We enjoyed the walk through the garden and we found all the solutions. To get to the final needed a coffebreak nearby. We spoted the hint and soon we found the box. For the walk and the final a favorite point. Thanks

Found the waypoints and determined the final location some time ago but did not have time to take either of the two routes from where I was to where i needed to be. Took advantage of the good weather to ride down to the Botanic gardens area to grab this one along with a few others around there, but the weather started to clag in as I was signing the log, so I hightailed it for home to get the washing in before it rained.

Many thanks for a great cache and visiting several interesting spots along the way.

Visited yesterday to do some "gardening" and found the hide hint had been stolen - blooming lovely for someone! Luckily the cache itself wasn't found. Put a new hide hint in place today and refreshed swaps.
