StreetWalkerNZ and I left Nuriootpa by 7:30am to head back to the Anna Tommy series which we had started on Friday. This wasn't too far from where we ended up in the series, and as I am always keen to find a large sized cache, this was added to the list. The road was pretty degraded, I suppose all the rain yesterday had made it worse. TFTC.
The weather was okay for a bike ride so the plan was to drive to Gawler, collect a few caches on the way, then ride the Meat Trail and look for a few of the caches along there. Its a good thing I took my gravel bike because I underestimated the degree of ruts and sandy sections along the Meat Trail - and that only made the ride even more fun...at times collecting caches broke the flow and rhythm of the ride so I didn't stop to look for all caches. Great ride, although the plan to grab a bite to eat at the Wasleys Hotel didn't work out as they dont open the kitchen for lunch - but the person behind the bar was extremely friendly and a beer and pack of barbecue chips sufficed. By the end of the ride I had looked for 21 caches and found 20. Oddest location was pet cemetery. TFTC
Left home early for a day's caching in the Gawler to Bolivar area to see if I could achieve a Personal Best month. Most caches were in good condition, but there were some on the Gawler to Port Adelaide trail that needed maintenance that I didn't have with me. TFTC
Today out and about on 194 of 274 days to get my daily cacher Emerald Using my Garmin Etrex 22X and MacBook Air!Thanks for the cacheTFTC
Out adventuring with Jamesta18 today which ended into the night.Quick maintenance run TFTC
Nice large size, nice large found. All good here, wonder what the road's like in the wet season. After starting the day doing the first 10 in the PATOGs I found 3 more at the Gawler end before attempting to reconstruct Anna, or Tommy. Good to be caching over this way again. I will put specific cache-related comments as I post. I seemed to mostly sign in just behind NZ cacher bullertrout. I also signed alongside some geo-stamps which took up 4 or 5 lines. Sad to see so much fly-tipping on the quieter back roads, some wasn't even dumped off the road but on it. A nice day to be out and about though. The last full day in town after my original plans to stay til Monday were changed. I had some admin stuff to tidy up before I could think about doing anything for myself so those were attended to via some messaging to and from NZ. I headed out for a walk along the cycleway besides the Expressway and managed a first few PATOG caches, esp nice now the weather has dropped to a much more palatable 19 -25 degrees for the daytime, yay. Following that it was back for some more work stuff before heading out to Gawler to head around the delightful Anna Tommy series of caches (and collateral extras). I was lucky that a recently made acquaintance was able to help me with the series of solves, thanks sooooo much for that. Then it was time to cache in the richness and make the finds, I was not disappointed. And so South Australia, so long and thanks for all the cache(s). I think this March will be my most bountiful month since I started caching, not bad considering I missed out on 3 days, by choice, and today is only 20th of the month. Alas my NZ pickings are slim so back to a more sedentary pace of finds. One last time, thanks to all the COs whose finds make this game so awesome.
Thanks for the cache. Signed dsd or darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys or ABG
**Today**The last morning in Adelaide with DSD! We had one last chance to pick up what we can, before slowly heading out of the city and into Gawler, and finally Lyndoch where we would stay the night to prep for the On your Bike series the following day! What a fantastic day this was! Had an incredible opportunity to meet weredunn4 who generously spent his morning ferrying passengers back & forth to Adventure Island! One thing I have noticed from the Adelaide community is how friendly they all are and opening their arms to welcome us interstate travellers! Easily one of the best highlights of this trip, getting a boat ride and then walking along the sand dunes for a variety of T5 cache types. Thank you! We then slowly made our way north to Gawler, ticking off some more cache finds, before eventually reaching the famous town itself with a couple of the best caches SA / Australia has to offer! We then made an unexpected detour via Nuriootpa for groceries, as we were left shocked & stranded by how early the grocery stores close!? But for some reason they stay open several hours longer just in this town! Hmm. This gave us a chance to visit the Geostuff Headquarters cache which we would have otherwise missed, but unfortunately the store was closed at this time! Thanks to all the COs -**This Cache:**Very easy to get too in a small 2WD car! Didnt even see that comment until after finding this cache, which is lucky because we may have just not chosen to drive out here if we did! The road isnt bad at all! Upon arrival the large container was quickly foundTFTC
Plans were made to attend the SA mega although our plans changed as both of our team couldn't go due to other commitments. So with that being sorted we booked everything and only made it a short visit to SA this time. Flew into SA this morning with Rapidlywild and being neither one of us is a fan of city caching we headed out to do this Anna Tommy series that we have had solved for quiet awhile now. Feeling back at home on the dirt roads although a bit of a rougher ride not being in a 4WD but our hire car still did the trick. Another cache found along our journey. No issues with the hide here. Thanks for the hide jamesta18 and thanks for a fun short stint away caching Rapidlywild.
Plans were in place with FurfacesLL #1 to attend the SA single day mega. So bookings for flights, accommodation and car hire were made and off we went. Flew in this morning and our first target for today was the Anna Tommy series. Have had this series solved for quite a while now, however we never seem to be in this area to do them. We made sure that changed today. We made our way around the dirt roads, getting our hire car very dirty, but hey, its SA, plenty of dirt roads. We collected other caches around as we made our way through the Anna Tommy series. No issues here, signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache placement jamesta18 and thanks to FFLL for another awesome couple days of caching away from home. Looking forward to the next trip.
One of those cache titles that brings back memories and makes you want to drop in, to check out the cache. As a kid the two things I remembered about the series, the song (and the alternate version) and the Leyland Bros T'shirt clad lady jumping out of the water. For those that are interested (in the song not the lady), the alternate version started with, 'Travel all over the countryside... Ask the Leylands, ask the Leylands Drive you nearly to suicide . . .'Adding a Fav Point for the childhood memories, well done jamesta18!! Signing as part of the BOLD07 experiment.
Continuing with the South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. There is so much to do and in such close proximity. Today it was leaving Adelaide and venturing north through Gamber and then a little east to grab caches in Waikerie to start the onslaught on the bike series of caches and locals. There is always time for one more cache and that seemed to be the theme for the road trip today. We left the airport and started our trip. Some great variety of caches today and some fun along the way. We got to see a huge moon a rising with some awesome pics. Thanks to all the COs for the hides and caches we found today, awesome caches. Caches were signed BOLD 7
GC3MJPA Ask The Leyland BrothersDown in Adelaide from Brisbane for the leap year mega. After arriving today we headed north east to our accommodation in Waikerie grabbing caches along the way.Signed as BOLD 7 to save space in the log. TFTC jamesta18
How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. Our geonick for the trip is BOLD7 which is guaranteed to save the log paper for the 7 individual members of the team. As we make our way around sadly there wont be time for the usual individual logs and therefore just the old generic log will have to do. With little extra notes here and there if needed. Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday.
A quick find here. thanks for hiding and maintaining. Signed with BOLD7.Happy caching.
With our group BOLD7 entertaining ourselves as we head north to expire the country. Fab day collecting all sorts including some well preserved oldies. Thanks to the SA cachers for awesome variety of caches.
I had driven from Flagstaff Hill to Wasleys for a FTF and endured the nightmare that is South Road to be out here.I decided to go get a few other caches in the area before heading home. This included the pirate project caches of Gawler, as it was about time that I got around to finding them.I swung by here to get this cache on the way into Gawler. The road had a "dry weather road only" sign at the entrance. The conditions seemed ok but I decided not to risk it in my car. So, I walked 750 metres one way to GZ.I was in no rush. Although I definitely could've driven. It was a nice walk though, so I just took it all in.Once at GZ, the sound of bees was looming all around. The bees were quite high up amongst the flowers at the top of the tree. So, I was able to search without worrying about them.A nice quick find here today. The cache is in good condition. Thanks jamesta18 for this traditional cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3924 on the 1st of February 2024.

TFTC. Had a bit of dirt and broken plastic inside. So I cleaned it and added some more toys.
Up from Adelaide again, hoping to finish off the Anna Tommy series and pick up one or two other caches around the place too.
It’s going to be a bloody hot one so in for an early start to get in before the heat of the day hits.

I remember as a kid sitting down with the family to watch the Leyland Brothers. The places they used to visit and talk about, I found it really interesting and I think it planted the seed for me to get out and explore our amazing country as I get older.
Heading north to celebrate a special persons birthday later today.

Here mainly for the nearby 2002 cache, this one is only a short walk away, and I’m always fond of large caches.
I grew up with the Leyland Bros on the TV in the background, can’t say I was a fan. I did get to go to their Uluru replica near Karuah in NSW, but I think the financial problems had already well set in by the time I got there.

Great find we think it fell from where it was meant to be so put it back where we thought it would have been
I used to love watching the Leyland Brothers shows as a kid including the "Off The Beaten Track" shows in the 70's
They sure showed us lots of our Wonderful Country
This cache was found on a back track that the Leylands often tackled dry or wet lol Nothing stopped them [^]
It was dry enough today, for my Rice-Burner, Toyota Corolla to handle no problemo [^]
A quick find of a nice sized cache that has 1 Favourite Point short of awarding 10 points in the Memory-Lane Souvenir game so here is it's 10th Fave...... not just for that reason, but for the fact i loved the Leyland Brothers and the nice cache size with goodies inside for the kids [^]

This cache was found on a trip to the Gawler area with FeatherWaite today. Our main aim was to complete the ‘Anna Tommy’ puzzle series, but we also took the opportunity to target some other selected puzzles and multis, and grabbed a few traditionals that we passed along the way.
We had a good day weather wise. Despite the threat of rain, it held off all day for us. We were a bit surprised at just how busy some of the back roads were, with a constant stream of passing traffic. A couple of local farmers also stopped for a chat and to see what we were up to. Apparently there has been quite a lot of theft and illegal dumping out this way of late.
This was one of the opportunistic finds as we passed. The cache and log sheet were in reasonable condition.
All in all it was a very productive and enjoyable day out with around 60 finds in total and no DNFs.
Thanks jamesta18 for the cache.

The 3 of us had been to Broken Hill over the Easter Weekend. With only a few caches in town we had decided to head back to Adelaide on Easter Sunday to avoid any crazy Easter Monday traffic. We did all the caches in Broken Hill and found it a great place to visit, lots of history and the caches we did find were really good.
It seemed like a very long drive to Broken Hill on Good Friday we punctuated the drive with a few geocaches. We kept several on the other side of the highway for the drive home.
There were a kazillion dead roos by the side of the road, they are desperate for some rain and good. The stench of dead kangas was pretty pungent.
So the long drive commenced and interestingly it didn't seem so far on the way home and we were back home by 5pm.
I am trying to improve my 'large' stats so this one was added to the drive home. Quick leap out and grab before continuing on to Adelaide. Contents have definitely seen better days. TFTC jamesta18!

It was time to pick up a couple more caches in the Mallala district before heading out through Gawler and on to our next camping destination, with ilook4geo. The caches on the list were all quite quickly found and paperwork duties were soon done at each site, before we moved on.
Thank you to jamesta18 for adding to our caching fun while we travel around SA.

I'm just old enough to remember weekend screenings of this series on (I think) Channel 9 in Melbourne. I was young enough such that I could still sing you intro sequence such was the plasticity/sponge-like ability of my brain at the time.
So when I saw this cache come up in the filter for large-sized caches I just had to travel the countryside to ask the cache all about the Leylands
Cache found without a problem.

Found on a caching day in the Gawler/Willaston area with Bunky. The road was dry, so we had no trouble driving to GZ. We pulled up in a convenient parking spot about 40m from GZ. Bunky pointed to a black bucket out in the open near a pile of dumped rubbish and said he'd found it. "No, that's not it" I said, "it's just someone's rubbish. The cache is 35 metres away on the other side of the road." We searched the likely hiding spot around a fallen tree, but didn't find anything. Thinking the cache might've been muggled, we went back to the car to head to the next cache, but decided to have a look at that bucket first. Indeed, it was the cache! What was it doing out here? Maybe the last finder forgot to put it back? Worried that the cache might get cleaned up with the nearby rubbish, we moved it to the spot indicated by the GPS and placed it behind a tree.
On my "I should get this one done" list and with a disgraced Geopup on board I set off before the sun was up to do a few to sooth the savage beast. Geopup was wanting to ummm play with a little female Geopup so what better way to make the world ok than by getting a smiley, right,?! so as the sun came up I sang THAT song to this lovely cache !
Owl's normal caching companions were off on a frolic of their own, so she decided to edge herself closer to her mega milestone with some power trails. And other caches in between as they showed up on the map. This was attempted on the homeward run. Without the song!
How on earth does one read the cache name and not sing it? a major part of my childhood was watching the Leyland brothers and planning to go to all the spots lol. TFTC
