I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

Hi girvan

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Regards

Not found for over 2 years with multiple DNFs. No response to suggested maintenance. Think it’s time to archive.

06-Jun-20
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

01-Jun-20
Nope, nothing. Given that the last find was over two years ago, this one is overdue for a CO check.

30-May-20
Dnf. Not so lucky day today. I have two photos of this place - I would like to know where is it?

07-Jan-20
didn't find 7/1/20. Got the co-ordinates. Searched and searched but no luck here today.

05-Jul-19
Gutted. We'd hoped to be the ones to find this 2 years later! No sight of it even with the correct coordinates and reading the previous logs. Dont think this is here anymore

A long day with lots of driving in the northeast of North Island. I visited the memorial, though thanks to the spoiler photo I had already calculated the final location. The cache was quickly in my hands but the logbook was all mushy.

Thank you for the cache!

--------

Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. Having circled most of the South Island in two weeks I sailed across the Cook Strait and zigzagged around the North Island, from Wellington to the west coast and Hamilton, then past Rotorua and Taupo to the east coast and back to Auckland and Northland.

Find #2778. First full day in Gisborne, early morning start, crescent moon still in the sky. Gisborne seems to have a number of these obelisk types monuments. Gathered the clues and found the cache up by the car park. Hint two became evident. Log very wet, impossible to separate the pages, so scratched a log on the inside back page. Thanks for the cache, the only find today (three dnf’s!).

18-Sep-17
Easy multi and final quickly found. Hint helped.

29-Jan-17
In Gisborne camping and decided to go for a run/geocache. With the help of a mate we found this one fairly quickly but enjoyed the hunt.

On a stroll from towne,
and past the Captain Cook National Monument hidden away in the port areas,
this cache took a bit of climbing to get too Razz

Me daily exercise quotient was about to be met and bettered !!! Big Grin
Up I strolled,
upwards ever upwards Razz
Then just to finish off the stroll to the monument,
a good little descent Smile

Numbers crunched I wandered off back up the hill,
then down a hill to reach GZ.
And at GZ a likely spot to find a cache presented itself.
Only it didn't hide a cache ?? [:o]

The clue "If" !!
Use the clue [:o]
Thanks Obi Wan [^]
It dawned on me that something I had wandered past might just have a cache on it Red Face

Yep !!

TFTC and memorable stroll [^]
Great views too Big Grin

As I so often do, I managed to muck up an answer for a multi cache. I returned a day later to discover my error and got back on track. I was puzzled by one of the hints but had to chuckle when everything eventually fell into place.

In Gisborne for a wedding and had a half day to explore - and find caches!

Enjoyed visiting this monument - as had recently seen it in The Dark Horse - and solving the clues.

The cache find was s quick one. Loved the hint.

Despite growing up locally, this was our first visit to the Freezing Works Memorial, great views. An interesting historical cache. Enjoyed the solve and the final was nicely hidden, many thanks for a well set up multi.

We have logged this cache as part of 12-12-12: A Challenge? http://coord.info/GC42CNY

Was a bit concerned about the the second hint when I read it 150m away from the monument, however it didn't cause too much trouble. Got the GZ and spotting the cache straightaway. I have a cache in Wellington where the final is in a similar position. I found out the hard way the signs aren't magnetic!
Thanks for bringing me up the monument as I can see it from where I'm typing this. TFTM

Found in the pouring rain. TFTC.

Nicely put together and a very straight forward multi. A good view from the monument of the marina and Lonestar where we had a meal the other night. Saw the monument that evening and it was all lit up looking great. Interesting to note the dirty muddy brown colour of the river in direct contrast to the clean blue water in the marina right next to it. TFTC

A pleasant stroll down to the monument, to gather the information, followed by a steep climb back in the 31 degree heat, where the cache was a quick easy find, although a little difficult to extract. TFTC

Really enjoyed this one. I was thinking... "What on earth does the number of vertical poles have to do with this?" And then some moments later... "Ah, I see".
Very good, gets a Fav point. TFTC Girvan.
