A quick find this afternoon once we rolled into Collingwood. Had the place to ourselves, and parked at the lower area and walked up. Found in first place looked, a nice cemetery in that old school way of giving the departed some high ground to look back over the sea to where they come from. At least, that is how an old history teacher explained it to us way back when. TFTC Biggles.Easter Sunday, and we had loose plans while heading out toward Collingwood. On the way, we wanted to do the Aorere Goldfields loop walk up to Druggan Dam, an Ad Lab out at Collingwood, visit the Mussel Inn in the afternoon, and pop over to Wharariki Beach. We achieved all of these except the last one, as that was a bit of a bridge too far and we had run out of time. There will be another day. But all up we got a good handful of caches and visited some places neither of us had been to before. And that is what geocaching is about, so that is a success. Thanks all COs. Some photos from our day added.

I remember finding this one years ago and that it was big enough for a TB, as I was here for the multi that starts at the cemetary and as I have a few TBs to get rid of I thought I'd leave one here as it looks like the cache is still found regularly. Checked the condition of the log book at the same time, still nice and dry with plenty of space to last a few more years.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.

We were caching our way around Nelson on Sunday some new caches appeared over this way. We looked at the distances involved and decided that today was not the day, but that if they were still unfound tomorrow we would head on over here. And so we did. A long drive, but worth it for the scenery alone.

One of those new caches was back here near this historical cemetery. So naturally we also collected this cache while we were here.

The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ

Thanks to BigglesNZ for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

Found with SJT_NZ on our way up to park and walk into the gold fields. Sadly the weather turned out to be too wet. We drove in the access road a fair way, but it was hosing down and we were worried that at the only place we could park, that we might not get out later on. Another time. Managed to grab this one though. All in good order, and thanks for the cache.

Day 11 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Cemetery caches quite intrigue us - it's interesting look g at the dates and causes of deaths, particularly in these older cemeteries. Would be interesting to know more about these boys - died within days of each other - accident or illness? I'd like to think that they were the adventurous type and would enjoy all the visits they are getting while we are on our adventures. Retrieved from the side with a bit of a stretch.
Thanks for the cache BigglesNZ

Such a lot of history here.

Day 19 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Moved on from Pakawau in Golden Bay today via Collingwood (Adventure Lab time) to Takaka and on to Port Tarakohe for the night. Picked up a number of caches along the way despite quite a bit of rain at times.

Detoured to here on our way out of Collingwood. Perhaps a little higher than the hint suggests, but still a reasonably quick find. Life could be harsh in those days! #4215. TFTC.

With a group of Westies (rustynz, rebel98, gorby, FMZ and boney bruce) on a caching adventure in the South Island Big Grin

We were gathering some information for a nearby multi, and collected this one too!

Just after we arrived the rain at last caught up with us, so umbrellas are up. Very interesting location, full of history. Thanks BigglesNZ for bringing us here.

25-Jun-21
We flew down from Auckland to Nelson for another session upon the PWGT caches and other caches that appeal. This is our last trip for the series and will complete it in the 4 days we have allowed ourselves. On this trip there is myself, rustynz, FMZ, Rebel98 and Bony-Bruce (FMZ’s mascot) starting in Nelson and heading north as far as Abel Tasman and then way south of Fox Glacier. 1500km of driving in our trusty rental.

Crappy weather here today, mind you, it's our fault.... we did choose to come down in mid-winter. The cache here was found by Rebel98 while us others were busy sorting the elongated PWGT multi, that took forever in the pouring rain. Thank you Mr Biggles sir!

04-Apr-21
An Easter weekend and I decided to try and aim to complete the PWGT3 Geotour caches - which I did manage to achieve.

Stopped between geotour caches to do a bit of sightseeing and of course to grab some caches. It was a pleasant walk around here and I was excited to be back here after 10 years. As I pulled up here I discovered my phone was dead ... not just battery dead but actually fried motherboard dead.... Agh.

My little meltdown in the car was obviously not noticed by the geocachers ivxss_xx. I grabbed my gps out of the boot and the geotour caches were loaded but no others. Luckily having watched the others with the container I knew where t go to get this one

======== NZ Mega 2020 ========

NZ Mega 2020 is definitely happening, but has been postponed until 2021. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

Hunting for the GeoTour, we arrived in Collingwood.
George and John are still here. I mean, where would they go, right?
Found and replaced, then, before proceeding up to the viewpoint, saw another cacher arrive but not get out of their car yet.

As we were in the area collecting the PWGT cache we thought we had better nab this one too. Had to wait for some unusual chap who was reading all the headstones to move far enough away for us to be able to make the find without him seeing. Cache quickly in hand, signed and tucked back away for the next cacher. TFTC

Found while doing PWGT cool old headstones and old tree..I would enjoy hearing some stories if it could talk thanks BigglesNZ

A surprise call from Taybee NZ wanting to do the PWGT series inspired us to come to Tasman for a 3 day weekend with Zara and Toby. We explored some awesome spots in Collingwood, Takaka, Kaiteriteri, Riwaka, Wakefield, Nelson and Cable Bay. Thanks for al the COs who helped this happen.
