A GR8 adventure with seven other GR8 geo-mates, during our King’s Birthday Long Weekend Geocaching Retreat, as we drive the Mid North Coast Wander. Such beautiful country up here. What an effort to keep this series going for us to enjoy. Thank you to all involved.

Day Two of the MNCW series with the team from Sydney (signed as GR8). Roads started out a bit rougher, but landscape is amazing and varied with plenty of that “country smell”
GPS throwing me to wrong side of road. High and dry so safe from recent floods! TFTC!
We started the “Mid North Coast Wander” series few months ago (47 caches found). This long weekend was the perfect timing to finish it.
This series was a bit challenging because of the 200 caches but it gave us a lot of fun and we really enjoyed it. Thanks to the owner for this amazing job. You bring us through Coorabakh NP and Lansdowne State Forest and all these lookout and interesting points. Then we crossed the road to drive along the coast and enjoyed all the view points!
We found 147 caches and 6 DNF mostly because of muggler on this busy long wkd. All the coordinates were very accurate and with the hint it was easy to find all of them.
At GZ quick found. We signed the log book and then replaced as found.

We have been told about this Mid North Coast Wander and so having arrived in Harrington last night we set off on the trail today. It was a beautiful sunny day and we very much enjoyed the drive and the scenery. We got to see a few Wallabys and a good number of bird species. It was also exceedingly windy - in fact the sound of the wind through the tall trees especially at the high points was so loud we had to shout at each other to be heard! Many thanks to the CO for having provided us with the opportunity to enjoy another great day out geocaching. We soon located this one once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Down in this neck of the woods to make an assault on the MNC Wander. Log signed as Team BADJ to save space.
We begin our assualt on this series, nice quick find and we signed as BADJ. TFTC - sorry for the generic logs.
A different container in a different type of hide spot, but you didn't fool us - well not this time anyway.
What a wonderful series this is that takes you from cache to cache through beautiful coastal and mountain scenery. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time finding these geocaches and finding many wonderful scenes, wildlife, birds, and peaceful country roads. We've cached today as Team BADJ for Bobbiesgirl, Aussie Liahona, DiamonJs and JooJoo57, to mostly save log space for the many geocachers who will come to the area.
Many thanks to the Mid North Coast Mob. Sorry for the generic logs for the most part, but it's a lot of caches to log even though we weren't able to finish the series due to log trucks advising us to go no further. Hopefully we'll be able to find more of the caches and finish the series at another time.
Cheers and happy caching!

Down in the area to have a try at the MNC Wander Series. Signed the log as Team BADJ. Thank you for putting out this trail - it certainly showed us many aspects of the mid North Coast area. Apologies for the generic logs.
We drove the MNCW again, and found this cache with my Dad and little brother...

Find #1950
This would be our fifth bite from the MNCW cherry. We did a hybrid route from others we've done through Coorabahk, to fill in the gaps we left on previous trips, and camped at Diamond Head overnight. Beautiful, hot weather and no logging trucks or road closures helped us only to leave one stretch to do later. Thanks to the Mid North Coast Mob for their continued efforts on this great trail.
The GPS bounced us all over here, eventually found on the northern side of the road....

We started this series back to front from our earlier base in Wauchope, and now that we have moved on to stay in the Kendall Showgrounds we decided that it was time to start at the beginning. A scenic drive is a great way to explore bits of the countryside we wouldn't otherwise have visited, and it's great to pick up caches as we go.
This one had Mrs SKI being a bit more adventurous. Parked a bit precariously, but got away with it and we're back on our way.

Found it on a drizzly Wednesday while in the area and hoping to finish this series. From caches 1 to 12 I didn't see another car. And sometime past that I picked up a leech (unknowingly), still bleeding after 4 hours. Thanks to all the people who set this series up and maintain it so well. A quick find thanks to the hint. TFTC
A glance at the heatwave in the weather report led us to driving up the coast and enjoying some time in the air conditioned car! Roughly 50 caches today and not a single DNF. Thanks to all COs.
Decided to test the work Camry out and drive the entire forest circuit. Not my smartest effort but the trusty steed did well. Enjoyed the views along the way too.
A quick find. I swear an entire convoy of 4wds drove past in the two seconds I was out of the car! It's like being on the M1 out here! So much for country serenity. TNLN TFTC

3 1/2 years after doing the coastal portion I though it was time I finished the mountain section of this Mid North Coast Wander.
Some neat hides, great views and areas to explore.
Some pretty rough tracks in places and even the odd mud hole to contend with.

TFTC, I will use a generic log for this series and go into more detail at the final mystery cache. Attempting this long and looks like amazing series in stages and in no particular order. Should be fun.
Finally a muggle free cache. Nice quick find so we could head off to the next one. Our aim is to reach 500 finds this trip, fingers crossed!

Really would like to thank all who were involved with the planning and execution of this trail. I'm fairly sure at least 4 local caching families were lost never to be seen again whilst doing the initial trial runs. Great job really well executed and maintained
**looked everywhere for this one today. Looked at hint and looked in several holes/areas behind big tree roots. Nothing seen. The red rock is very crumbly**

Thanks for the cache.
Found this one today with Gazkersh and Tilly. We were looking on the wrong side of the road at first (GPSr had run out of battery and iPhones are no fun in the forest) eventually found the cache but needed to dodge our fair share of leeches to get to it. Signed log (not sure if the leeches signed or not) and returned cache. I got some AMAZING photos nearby. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us to this pretty spot MNCM!
Today was a day to put in an all out effort to find may more of this series. It was a successful run and we were able to add many more smileys to the map. TFTC.
We started ut on the wrong side of the road, but then found it neatly hidden away as described. Thanks for a great hide and forest dive.

12:50 The most recent East Coast Low dumped flooding rains over the last couple of days, accompanied by high winds. This meant that the planned day out caching on the MNCW (and to check some of the caches we'd laid out on this great trail) was in jeopardy. But, no, the day stayed pleasantly dry and mostly sunny so we had a nice cruise around. The creeks were all busy though. Thanks to all the local cachers who laid out this trail. TFTC
Meandered out to continue our wander through the forest after a delicious Sunday breakfast. It was an amazing thing to see the beautiful rainforest lush and wet after all this rain! Roadside waterfalls were in abundance and our leech tally now stands at 7 (Mrs Bear must taste good). Again, thank you so much for helping us see this beautiful part of the world.
Such a picturesque little place! Mrs Bear got covered in red mud retrieving this one!

It was the 3rd day of our holiday in Port Macquarie and with the forecast being for a cold, wet and windy day, we thought it would be spent visiting some nearby wineries and boutique breweries. We awoke however to a beautiful sunny morning, so instantly our plans for the day changed to tackle the Mid North Coast Wander power trail. We managed to average about 10 finds per hour with a total of 70 found for the day ... looks like we will have a few more days ahead of us to complete the series We had an enjoyable day out with some interesting finds and places to see.

Found by Mary & David, in company with baby&Mrs gopher, at 1330. What a day of wonderful scenery, great caches, and breathtaking views. This one gets a favourite for the sound of the water, the beauty of the rocks and ferns, and the cool greenness. Learning about birds from baby&Mrs gopher too. Our thanks to Mid North Coast Mob.

39 for the day - TFTC - Great day for a drive in the bush for a great series of caches
Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
Camped at Coopernook Forest with a late night last night it was not an early start for us this morning. Finally on the road after 10.30 to do some more touring of Coopernook Forest and today we also visited the Coorabakh National Park
We really enjoyed the day and found this section to be the most scenic (for a whole day) than the other parts that we have tackled here this week.
Loved the waterfalls, and caves, the big trees and ferns. Some amazing vistas and lookouts, even with high cloud cover this morning.

With a few days free up my sleeve after a very busy schedule at work I thought I'd be a nice grandson and drive up to visit my grandparents. It just happens that they are nearby the Mid North Coast power trail which I had been eyeing off for a while. So the decision was made to make my way north and attempt my first large power trail.
After being told by my grandparents that they hadn't had any rain (decent amount) for a long time I was glad to escape the Central Coast where rain and storms had become a constant. I set out for an early start on day one to attempt to get as many caches as possible. I woke up to a cloudy morning which by the time I got to the first in the series had turned into rain.
The rain continued throughout the 2 days and included some strong winds, some brutal down pours and sections of very close lightning! Needless to say the weather made attempting this series quite difficult at times! I soldiered on throughout day 1 on my own in my van (2wd) along the dirt tracks through deep puddles and small rivers created by the rain. Some sections of the track were dubious but I continued along as reversing to go back was going to be difficult.
On day 1 I managed to get the first 89 of the trail before I had to call it a day. The wet weather made everything slower!! Getting in and out of the van, opening caches, writing logs, sealing bags all needed extra time and care in the terrible conditions. Thankfully the hides became somewhat predictable and finding them wasn't too difficult. Although every now and then I was fooled by some red herrings left in certain places. Well played!
There were 2 fallen trees blocking my way which took me some time to move out of the way. I got bogged in one section where there was no phone reception and was km's away from the nearest help. I hadn't seen a single other vehicle the whole day so I had to get myself out of the mess but digging with my hands and slowly moving cm by cm over 2 hours before finally getting myself out. There were sections where I only had 15m of vision due to thick cloud and mist combined with pouring rain. Unfortunately a lot of the look outs didn't provide much of a view due to the conditions, but there were sections when it cleared up for a little while and there were some magnificent sites of mist rolling throughout the valleys.
On day 2 an early start was had again and the bad weather also continued. I headed out to where I finished the evening before and as the rain came down I made my way along the trail. I cleaned up all the bush sections before making my way to Harrington to begin on the coastal section. Unfortunately the weather was still terrible and searching for caches in the pouring rain along the coast where people are present isn't as easy as doing it in a secluded bush setting! I decided to pull the pin at about 1pm and leave the rest of the trail for another time. It now gives me an excuse to come back!!
Thanks for the efforts on the trail! I greatly appreciated the time and care put into it. Most caches were absolutely fine, a small minority had a bit of water damage but in all it is a very well maintained trail! I only had 1 DNF which would appear to be muggled (other logs suggest so also). I'll be back soon!
I signed most logs with my shortened name WTF which was given to me by local geocachers (affectionately I hope!)
