Driving further from Blenheim via Nelson to Golden Bay & the Spit we took a loop via highway 1 to 63 and number 6, a nice tour through the country and so many caches. We stopped here and there with our muggle friends who were patient and just enjoyed our smiles when we found a cacheLike this one Tftc
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. No problems locating the container, adding our ink to the log, and placing it back as found since there weren't any muggles in sight. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
Yikes slightly scary area - carcasses of deer and some unpleasant graffiti along with rubbish. No signal to look at clue but geo eyes showed us the way . We're going to stop for A brew but skiddaddled out of there. Tyftc
It was a bit rainy today, but I needed some finds for my calendar loops.
The area is a rubbish dump with lots of mattresses and other junk. The cache is just far enough away to be safe, TFTC.

Heading up to Brightwater, Motueka for the night, then Kaiteretere South, then a highway drive up to the Spit for Vodafone. On the way up I saw this on the Montana, and figured it would be a good enough spot to stretch my legs a bit.
TFTC bumandworker, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 2 today, making this find #3864

Find number 2. Quick find, I added some new RITR paper in this one, and it’s good to go. Found a bit precariously placed, is more secure now. TFTC B&W. The pergola is still standing.
Driving home to Blenheim, and of course we are still taking the SH63 route (although SH6 is open in a few hours), so it’s over the Spooners I go.
The main goal was the Ad Lab at Coronation Forest, but I get there and the road is closed.
A quick decision needed then on whether or not I break the rules and plough on regardless, or heed them and find something else to do.
It’s the latter, and I decide to head out to Glenhope and back home on an exaggerated loop that takes me past a few caches I have yet to find.
Good fun, good weather (mostly) and great success as Borat would say. Thanks all COs.

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock them off on this trip.
Did some tlc on container as it was in a bit of a state.

Day 16 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Travelled from Murchison to Motueka today. We had intended doing so yesterday but the route was cut off due to the recent heavy rain and subsequent flooding. We got through okay despite a slip being cleared in one place and seeing plenty of evidence of recent flooding, plus very high rivers still.
Took a while to find this one. The coords on my iPhone were all over the place. Back to the van to fetch my Garmin and to enlist Mrs tbird’s assistance. Still took another moment or two to locate, but the Garmin did seem to make a difference! #4178. TFTC.

Always keep meaning to get this one as drive past but either someone here or wrong side of road or something. Parked up and a muggle? car came thru park as was getting out of car. They Looked at gazebo but then took off leaving me to locate cache. Tftc

Found a Small cache out in the open and shattered around.
The logbook has multiple logs in January and February 2020, but our offline cache details only two on 25 January 2020?
But it was close to GZ so we assume it's the cache.
We rehided it at GZ TFTC
Perhaps the owner can check on this one, the FTF was Rangi at 24 December 2010

It took a bit of a search. We stayed another night at Greymouth. Look out my friend Ethness is in town. We are back to DoubleTrouble. We are driving from Greymouth to Nelson today. Thanks bumandworker for placing this geocache it is find 8254 for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, bumandworker, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

NBokkie and I are going on holiday to New Zealand for 3 weeks. In Auckland we rent a camper. We start on the North island and driving to the south to make the crossing to the South island. Here we make a round and then take the boat back to the North Island. A long trip, but a very beautiful one! We do and see a lot on our way............
In addition to being a tourist, we are also going to cache along the way. The virtuals and earth caches are often on tourism places. If we have a long day of traveling, we stop for some caches.
It were great weeks!

It was raining too much on the west coast so i headed up to Nelson to restock and move into the warm weather. While up here i hiked around a lot of the hills. I can see why people love mountain biking around this area. And i picked up a lot of caches along the way. Thanks for placing them.
Had to park road side as the rest area was closed...walked in and found ...thanks BW
We had to park on the road as the rest area is closed, presumably because of the fire risk. No trouble with the find. Thanks for the cache bumandworker

I had parked my snail shell up in Murchison yesterday and noticed that there were a few caches on a back road to St Arnaud that I hadn't travelled.
This one was 9m away from my GZ.

Today we made a trip to Lake Rotoroa. Very nice landscape, unfortunately also some rain was on the way. At the lake etaws could be bathed until the biting flies annoyed us a bit. The way back to Nelson was Cacher time again. Several simple and nice caches were on the way, sorry for the standard log. It becomes more individual again when the www is more stable on the road. Now we'll make a ratatouille.

"Rough" is certainly the correct word to describe the track here. I had a bit of trouble finding this cache as my GPSr was very indecisive. I wasn't sure about the hint; to me, it seemed to relate more to how to replace the cache than how to find it.
Found with VikingNav today while exploring the area during our drive from Westport to Nelson. Thanks for the fun cache! >^..^

#8690. On our way back to Nelson after a day trip to the West Coast on a rainy day. Stopped off the Kohatu-Kawatiri Highway in Tapawera to have a break at this rest area. It was certainly rather rough. GZ was pretty quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

She looked around and went to where I had searched twice and quickly came up with the cache. Wives can be so maddening! - Zeke & George of Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA
A short distance from our last cache to this one, a quick stop among the trees and soon we had the cache in hand.
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun but no luck today. Sigh. Thanks for placing the cache.
And so my happy streak came to an end here.
My GPS was a bit bouncy and in my mind there was only ever one likely hiding place, but I found nothing there.
Good to see the pergola is still standing though!

Today was the day we wanted to crank up some numbers so we went caching for 'park and Grabs'. It was a lovely day and we started in Wakefield before heading south and then back north. This was cache No 48. Thanks to all the cache owners who made this a special day.
NZDi and I had planned a two day caching weekend with the original idea to cache from Blenheim to At Arnaud to Kawatiri Junction to Nelson on Friday, then cache around Nelson on Saturday. We decided this would be too ambitious and scaled it back and start from Kawatiri Junction and this was the fourteenth cache of the day.
Throughout the weekend our logs were signed Kiwimykl + NZDi or KM + ND or variations of the two with or without the date depending on the size of the space available and / or the particular logging requirements of the CO.
Once again having overshot the first entrance, we took the next and came back along the rough track to GZ. This CO really needs to get a new GPS because rarely are his coords accurate, but I guess we all know that by now and compensate for it. Another cache where my cache repair kit got a workout and a new log c/w plastic bag was put to use. A previous logger said they were scared to sneeze on the log, unfortunately, I think a subsequent logger did. I don't mind doing the odd bit of log maintenance for this CO, given the amount of enjoyment (and sometimes frustration) he has provided us.

A plan was hatched to try and grab a number of caches, in excess of 120 if possible. I had already found a load between Renwick and St Arnaud but consulting the map around St Arnaud area showed some semi power trail drive by caching opportunities. Fellow Manawatu cacher the Seagnoid was asked if he was interested and a resounding yes was the answer. So the car was fuelled up at very early o'clock and provisions for munching were also loaded. An 0630 start was the plan and the day came to its conclusion around 2130 after approx. 15 hours of driving and caching.
Outcome was a very successful figure in excess of 130 caches which constitutes best day ever (for both of us), best week, month and year too. Over 500kms driven today and man I feel tired but need to make a start logging the finds, and DNFs. Thanks to all the C Os involved in making our day such a great one. Nearly all caches were well maintained, interesting and accurately plotted. There were bellbirds, beech trees, pies and water, sealed roads, gravel tracks, no sandflies (thankfully), rivers and bridges and creeks and bridges and streams and bridges and much conversation about all things caching
A great day out in good company and all made possible by the efforts of the hiders.

[green] Capperz called me up saying he wanted to get his ruby Busy Cacher badge, and try for 120 caches in a day. I said YES PLEASEE!!, as I too had tried this once before but only achieved 103 before night defeated me and Edvern in Auckland last year. A successful day, with over 130 caches found in 14.5 hours and 500km. Also tiring - I went to bed as soon as I got home, despite it not being dark yet (yes, we could have cached some more, but the next objective is 180 caches, and there was no way we would have achieved that!). Alas, I had to leave all the planning to Capperz, and he produced a great little plan, listing all the target caches (and more) with which way to turn at next intersection after a cache - a great way to plan a back road travel.
The day was cool, cloudy, with a little drizzle. Perfect caching weather - the weather kept most of the muggles away from the muggle areas.
Thanks to all the COs for a great day out exploring the back roads of the Marlborough region!
Logs signed as CS or occasionally as CapSeag.

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am and made our way to Nelson today. We drove heaps, laughed heaps, found heaps of caches and poke our noses here and there. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 9.30pm for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We took the Lewis Pass route on the way up, and encountered all kinds of silly weather, including snow and hail. We did consider turning around and following the highway, but it ended up being ok – we just had to drop a few caches as there was no way of getting there in the knee high snow…
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Consec caching day # 699

This rest stop doesn't get much love from the PTB so had to drive very carefully around the potholes. The Oregon was not much use under the trees, but fortunately StreetWalker's GPSr is more reliable and he soon found the cache. TFTC.
#7454. Good to pull well off the main road (even if the drive through the rest stop was rough). Nicely hidden. TFTC.
-and one more visit from Denmark- here we had a lunchbreak and almost smashed the car by going down the gravel path.
During our visit in beautiful New Zealand, we have naturally sought some caches. There were many memorable impressions on our trip and showed us some caches the New Zealand off the beaten path. You have a wonderful country! We thank all Ownern for the cache and send best regards from Denmark, Thyde2.
