I had been out at a gathering at Piha at a house very close to this cache until around 1AM this morning... and when it was time to go home I thought that I would check to see if there were any caches around nearby up for grabs that I could find in order to maintain my daily streak. So that is how I came to be looking for this one. So in the dark and the rain I parked as close as I could, and thanks to your hint I soon had the cache in hand. The log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next finder. So thank you once again G--2 for taking the time to set up all of your caches. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC

After peeking at the beach wandered over to grab the cache. Nobody around so made a nice quick find. TFTC

Waves were kicking off today! Log book completely destroyed so replaced with CD cover as only thing I had on me. Thanks

Quite day out here at piha which gave me a chance opportunity to ha e a proper look for this cache instead of eye balling the area from a far. Once up close it all became clear and ot was in my hand. Sorry if you are looking for it just now but i left area to sign. Coming back now. Log book is non-existent but smudged my name into a corner and providing a picture. Cache needa some TLC.

Even with 3 pairs of eyes we couldn't find it. Knowing that digging for a cache is not according to the GC rules I decided to stop my activities after reading the last logs. Nevertheless thanks for showing the place.

Made plans to come out here early with Merlot58 and Jag50, before the scorching heat built up. We stopped by this one so I could find it. Lots of sand around, and a bit of digging later, I had the cache in hand.

Didn't have a pen so couldn't sign.

We were having lunch at the said club today right after we arrived at the beach. After lunch, I headed out energised to work out and perform some excavation work. The sand really does get very deep here! When I was there, the sand had reached up to nearly to top of the pole, had to dig down by about 20+ cm before hitting oil... I mean, the cache. TFTC!

I had a quick rummage for this one last night on leaving the surf club. No luck, but it was dark and St Pat's day! Back this morning before it grew busy and found it straight away. A very innocuous container! Thank you.

Nice quick find between muggles walking by to the beach. Piha is a wonderful beach which you should try and visit whilst on North Island. TFTC

Walking along the beach below the Surf Rescue station I had been unsure how easy this one would be, but when approaching from the other direction things looked a bit different. Still had to wait for a few passing Muggles before making the find. Thanks.

During our holidays in NZ we discovered a lot of interesting places and caches. This is one of them.

Cache in situ. No problems finding it but does need a new log.

We searched, we sifted, we dug and turned up nothing. Just when I decided that this cache was missing and went to leave I decided to dig one more time and VOILA!! Found at last. The log is damp and ripped but signable. Replaced cache according to hint with vegetation over the top. TFTC

First caching session of the year. Decided to head to Piha to find a few caches. This was an interesting search, due to the very high muggle factor, and Mother Nature's relocation of natural camo. Finally cache in hand. Log has seen better days, very fragile. TFTC Happy New year

The cache should have been an easy find given the hint. I suspect some muggles have been at work.

Ist reality show to follow lifeguards........ we beg to differ. What about Baywatch? LOL. Ok we never lowered ourselves to watch that rubbish - that is what kiwi is saying but do we believe him! Lovely winters day with some chunky, powerful surf rolling in. Plenty of keen surfers out in the water. One came back with his board in two pieces. Nice quick find. TFTC

On our journey to New Zealand, xhead and I travelled to the South and the North Island and to Stewart Island. We had a lot of fun hiking in these great landscapes, viewing a lot of interesting animals and nice peoples. Sometimes a little treasure likes this Cache was crossing our way. Thank you very much for hiding this Cache in this amazing place.

Akirey and I visited in April and May New Zealand. First we decided to look around on the South Island including Steward Island then we went to the North Island.
All the time we enjoyed our trip. We saw a lot of sweet animals, amazing landscapes and met many nice people.

Also we searched for some caches. This one was one of them.

Picked up after a visit to Lion Rock. Not too many muggles around - most were down on the beach enjoying the sun, sand and surf. tftc

After visiting Lion Rock and chilling at the Beach we took a break for watch the surf-dudes on their board ridung the waves.

Last cache of our two week trip to New Zealand! Found it with Meaganamillion (well, she found it...but I helped)!
It was crawling with bugs and all the bags are ripped. Might be time for a little maintenance.

Tomorrow we leave Auckland for Mt Maunganui, so it was our last chance to head out to Piha, a first visit for me and a second after many years for StreetWalker. We thought a weekday would be a quieter option than a weekend day, and so it was. What a beautiful part of the country. Many thanks to the COs for taking us to some interesting places.
The flags were very close together today - so it would be quite difficult to stay within the flags while swimming etc. TFTC.

Lots of muggle activity around the cars, so I took a minute to look around the beach before returning. The coast was clear, literally, so I was able to grab and replace the cache. TFTC.

We did find the cache very quickly but had to wait a bit before muggles left the GZ to put it back. We love Piha Beach,

A day out at Piha today - nearly 6 years since I was out here last - whew how time flies. Time to find a few more caches this time. After a hilly walk it was nice and flat round here. No problems finding this cache either. TFTC, Biggles.

Found this one successfully after a yummy fish & chips lunch at Ades before venturing on to our beach walk. Tftc G--2.

Steed and son drove up from Hamlton to deliver our old car to its new owner, and, of course they had to collect a couple of souvenirs while they were here.
Luckily there was a large empty ute parked between GZ and the muggles in their car, so steed was able to quickly grab this one. Thanks G-2.

A lovely day for the beach so lots of people around today but managed to find this one in between muggles walking to and from the beach. the log book is full but managed to squeeze my initials on it

The weather was not that nice so had a window of opportunity to grab this while there was no one around. Came back to beach when the weather improved and the wind8w had definately closed.

Quick find at GZ, few creepy crawlies in the cache, but got to the log without freaking myself out. TFTC

Mike-miss found this one on our behalf today, no-one had to be rescued from this cache, had to wait out nearby beach watchers though but that was OK. Very pleasant day here today with 4 other cachers who were hellbent on having fun and finding some random caches here and there.

A trip into town for mrs capperz so a couple of trips in and around the city. Some yee-ha at Piha and being domain man at the Domain were the side orders for today and ended up at Mission Bay for fish and chips aside the beach. 10 caches today, all crackers and all appreciated. Some new stuff seen, as always and an appreciation of the beauty of someone elses play ground.
After a nice walk along the beach realized some caches were noit on for today due to the tide so grabbed a couple of others instead

This was the next one to do, but a group of muggles seemed to be watching me from the clubrooms. So I parked the car and walked to the chicle cache. When I got back it looked like I could now go and find the cache, as the group had moved on. Only 3 cars in the car park, the sun is getting lower in the sky, the wind has got a little stronger, but the rain is staying away. The beach is looking magical, we are staying for the weekend, so before everyone arrives, I decided to cache a little, and soak up the beauty of the place. Thanks for the hide, the rock is looking good!

After a very very rainy saturday, the weather forecast looked better for today. I decided to come early in the Waitakere Ranges for walking and geo-caching !
Target of the day = go down along Buck Taylor track and come back to the car through Walker ridge track. I had to shortcut this trip due to flooded track near see level. Let's see it a good opportunity to visit Karekare and Piha !

Took a nice stroll along the beach to get to this one. Was surprised to see a lot of surfers in the sea. A quick find for us and nice hide. Simple but effective camo.

Found while being observed 3 m away by a woman in the carpark, who was sitting in her car waiting for here partner to have a surf. She had no idea what we were really up to.

Found it during my trip from south of South Island to north of South Island.

this was a quick find and we managed to log it without mugglers being aware of us

Took a few attempts but got there in the end. One of my favorite places in the world

Our first day in NZ on our hols and in my favourite part of the north island, so what better than a spot of caching to start the holiday off.

We sadly stuck out on the first cache we went looking for how ever this did not disappoint. My daughter found the cache straight away but dismissed it thinking the cache was hidden under it, as this was the first cache she had found of this style she was quite taken back when I showed her what it was. Sadly she was a little disappointed as she much prefers the type that contain treasure.
