Could not find this one.

Teamed up with Etherlord and Ether Master from the Etherlord Clan and TwigNZ, for a raid in Skindo land. We arranged to meet in Masterton, swapped into one car and headed south. The aim was to get the 5 PWGTs south of here, and to collect Skindo's achived caches, especially puzzles, along the way. although we did get a few others as we were "just passing".
But time conspired against us. Or maybe it was skindo himself, as we only got 50 caches, and only as far south as Greytown. We have made a tentative plan to be back in a couple of months to to come back and work this area again.
All logs signed as TECATS - TwigNZ, Etherlord Clan and the Seagnoid.

Having been over here in the Wairarapa only a few weeks ago, I wasn't expecting to be here again so soon. But the chance to have a whole day out caching with friends was too good to miss. Between us we hatched a plan to get as many archived Skindo caches as we could, and any others we were going to be driving right past. My main roles today were as driver and searcher, whilst happily leaving the navigation to the others who were able to use their GPSRs and programs other than the official app to see the caches I couldn't.

My apologies for the generic logging, but anything notable will be commented upon. For convenience all logsheets today were signed TECATS (for TwigNZ, Etherlord Cland and The Seagnoid) regardless of whether any 1 of us may have already have found a cache on a previous trip.

This archived Trad was not one I had been previously aware of, but luckily for me the others knew of it and we were able to conduct a brief search to find it. The obvious GZ was searched but no cache was found, and we decided not to throw a replacement down for it.

I'm not able to maintain this cache.

Nice easy find. Didn't know that this walkway existed. Cache us very wet inside. May need a new box or seal.

Quick find and handy parking, ta! I think the container has seen better days, was a nice puddle at the bottom -but the new waterproof log is great so no issues logging in pen. Happy to get my first legit code, hope I can string a few together soon. Thanks skindo!

I was in Carterton for work and because it was a beautiful sunny day, I wanted to find a few geocaches before it got hectic at work. I picked a couple that were a quick walk and set off to find them.

This one was my first find for the day, I came to ground zero looking for the object mentioned in the hint. After leaning around I spotted the object, with the geocache sitting right beside it. I had to run around a group of trees to be able to get to it but eventually reached it. TFTC! This is my first find of the A-Z challenge and hopefully not my last.

22-Sep-18
A quick find and another code collected. TFTC

16-Sep-18
Over at the Clareville hockey turf for a U15 mini tournament and have some spare time before the second game to grab a few nearby caches. Headed in to Carterton to grab a few things from the supermarket and decided to give this one a go as there are still a number of codes that we haven't yet collected. A quick find at GZ, however the cache was quite wet inside and had to dry the waterproof paper before we could sign. Tipped out the worst of the water and replaced as found. TFTC skindo.

Quick find, thanks

05-May-18
Quick find while waiting for fish and chips haha

While markhnz was competing in a cycle race, we walked along the road to this cache, which was a quick easy find. As Adelle Nancekivell said, the log was sodden, so we replaced it with a small waterproof sheet. TFTC

Exploring some quiet corners of Carterton. All good with this one now, thanks skindo and to the previous visitor.

10-Sep-17
Found quickly as container was exposed on the grass, lid off and contents muggled. No log sheet to be found, so I put the container back together and hid it in a location that matches the hint.

02-Jul-17
Easy find but stealth required as muggles nearby.

05-Feb-17
After a lovely afternoon at the pool we were delighted to have a cache to find. Unfortunately it was placed under a dripping pipe, open, its contents spread on the ground and its log wet. We've placed it back where the clue indicated and will message the CO.
Thank you for the cache.

15-Jan-17
Yeah the Co ordinates are out. But you can find it OK with a bit of common sense.

06-Jan-17
It was family road trip day to the Wairarapa so of course I had to pick up a few geocaches on the way.

I wanted to take a slight detour to grab this one as we were passing through. GPS had me a wee bit out and I found the hint object without trouble, but no cache. I spotted it close by in the open so after completing the paperwork I replaced back where it should be with some leaf cover. The kids got a wave from the train driver as it was passing the crossing while I was hunting. TFTC

12-Dec-16

27-May-16
saturated.

26-May-16
Oh dear this was full of water! i emptied it but the log is totally saturated, likewise the handmade key ring and tag that was in it. I replaced upside down as then at least the water doe not pond in the container but urgent maintainence is required here. Thank you for the cache and another smiley face.

27-Apr-16
A couple of muggles watching the passing train delayed me a little, but coordinates and hint made for a quick find.

#1492. Every once in a while there is a day of madness. Today was that day. To complete an Auckland based challenge cache (GC3QY6Q), I needed to visit 50 caches in a single calendar day. But I couldn't use any power trails. Each cache had to be at least 1 km apart. So I spent several nights planning out a route around the Wairarapa that would allow me to achieve this target plus enough spares to cover for the DNF's. I managed to get around all 50 caches (only needing to use a torch for the last one) and was home by 10pm. Apologies for this generic log. This was cache No.44 of the day. Yes another in the skindo A-Z series bites the dust. Quick find thanks to a good hint. Signed log and returned cache as found. TFTC

01-Nov-15
No TB here today. Log is pretty wet and may need love soon.

Final count today is 43. Wb-jnr and I headed off on a half day to the Wairarapa after doing some chores around home. We ended up being just under nine hours cache to cache, however escaped trouble when we got home by stopping for a bottle of wine. I was cautioned that it worked this time but not to expect it to work every time Sad

We had a great day and loved the significant differences between this and some of our recent full day caching adventures whilst in Ireland earlier this month. We always enjoy local caching with the following (which have been contrary to some of our Ireland experiences):
- Almost all of the caches we attempted were actually there! Couldn't believe how many in Ireland needed maintenance or at the very least checking. Some days we planned on getting 40 which should have been easy, however came home with only half as many smilies. I think the best day was 24!
- The co-ords are pretty accurate. If you get to Ireland, expect some of the coords to be 20m out - frequently.
- On a couple of caches here I found some prickly stuff. The amount of caches in Ireland where you wish you had leather gloves and sleeves was incredible. Not to mention even a gentle brush against the nettle causes a stinging sensation for a couple of hours - just in time for another brush Sad

All in all, a really lovely day caching back near home. Beautiful weather and a great day of caching company with my son. Thanks to all the cache owners Smile

After a brief stop in the middle of Carterton I headed out to search for the finals of some more mystery caches I'd solved a while ago. This one was on my way, so stopped for a quick find. #1305 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours. Glad to have found another of the A-Z caches as my last couple of attempts have been unsuccessful. VERY slowly chipping away at this series. TFTC!

I had been working my way through Greytown caches over a couple of weekends, but decided that although I wanted to do some more I would go for a change of scene as well, and chose Carterton where I had never cached before.

I arrived by train and as this was only a short distance from the station I decided to make this the first port of call- glad I did as my next cache was a DNF and if I had started with that it would have been a bit disappointing!

Coast was clear enough when I arrived though I had to pick my moment because of a few passing muggles with or without canine friends enjoying a stroll in the lovely weather. However just as I grabbed the cache an older lady walking a dog came by and I couldn't really continue to hang around the exact GZ without looking dodgy. So forced with the risk of having to take the cache for a walk in the opposite direction I ended up instead having a lovely little chat with her (with me holding the cache inconspicuously as I didn't have time to hide it in my bag!) then returning the cache once she and her companion went on her way.

TFTC.

That’s one more find for me! Thanks so much for hiding this geocache.

Day 3 of our long-weekend of caching the Wairarapa. Hoping to bowl over a few puzzles and pick up some others on the way.

Managed to wangle most of a weekend in the Wairarapa. Knew it was coming up for a while so had put in a bit of an effort solving some puzzles. Had a great couple of days and wound up with about 300 finds. Hardly scratched the surface really - I'll be back!

We have used this pool in past years and didn't take much notice of the fact that a public path ends in the carpark. Easy find. TFTC.
