Awesome experience. Cool little trails to follow. A really great hiding spot. Enjoyed the logbook container.
This is day eight of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I took the early Bluebird ferry over to Wellington this morning and headed up the coast stopping for a cache every 10kms.
I came by, but it was raining too hard to get out of my car. I checked in to the nearby holiday park and, after a while, the rain stopped. I came back to look for the cache. As I went into the bush, I got wet from the secondary rain. I had to shake a few branches before I walked forward to avoid this.
At GZ, I got to the hinted at location and then spotted the cache. TFTC.

Staying in Foxton Beach for a couple of days. Just finished cycled around a couple of blocks of the KAS power trail. Thought we'd call in and see what this beach community was like.
One lonely skindo cache. We have now cached Himitangi Beach out.

Making our way down towards Wellington and the Mega this weekend. We left our daughter's home in Feilding early this morning and drove to Himatangi Beach. Parked at the end of the road and made our way up the path, then detoured over to the clearing. It did not take too long to zero in on GZ and we soon had the cache in hand. Noted the code and headed back to the van for breakfast. Thanks.
This one has been on the hit list for a long time, but finally had a bit of time to look for it today. It took a little bit of bush bashing, then was millling about in the general area and happened to look back, bingo!

Needing 17 more caches to get to 250 for March for qualifying for a cache in Wairarapa we headed to Foxton where we had approximately exactly that number available. The weather was lovely and so perfect for a geocaching jaunt.
We took a few attempts at the approach on this one. Finally found a way in and a couple of hunts around the perimeter and then I followed hubby down a bit. We both thought it was a bit too hard and on my way out I saw it in a jiffy. Yay! Cache number two for the day safely secured. TFTC

Found a trail to crawl along, then thankfully had a short search — given dearth of usual spots. Good coords & clue helped. Cheers skindo!
Decided to detour here, as kids we holidays here a few times, after much searching we found it, it was Natril 100th cache, tftc
Found with miow4. Took a while, but we got there. Brought back memories visiting the beach where we had stayed when we were kids
This was always going to be a bit of a caching trip in the company once again of HKCB. Having though about it and done a fair bit of planning over the past couple of weeks this was a chance for a reasonable clean out of an area that we don't normally get to. So with families in mind, rather than setting out on the Friday evening we left home at 2am on the Saturday morning to make our way south before either the heat of the day or there was too much traffic on the road.
Some stats for the weekend
- Distance Traveled = 1457 kms
- Petrol = 3 x Fills
- Time Away from Home = 42 hours
- Straight Driving Time = 6 hours
- Sleep = 4 hours
- Caches Found = 250
- DNF's = 3
So after a straight forward drive down here this was the first that we located of what was going to be a very long day, and followed by another very long day.
While I apologize that these are 'copy & paste" logs, I would just like to say thank you to all the CO's that have have put out and maintained these caches for us out of 'non-locals' to find. It was a great weekend and we traveled though some amazing countryside.
A key learning from the weekend was that a Mazda CX5 is not designed to ford rivers.
So thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache.

On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.
A really neat place, couldn't stay long at all as there were more caches to find. But looking forward to revisit at one point in time.

In himatangi for a few days so had to get the one and only local geocache. TFTC, might start tracking down the rest of the series now
Himatangi Mini Break Cache #31 also #300 overall.
Quick sprint down the road after dinner at the Cossie Club and before it got dark. Bott took us on a bit of a bush bash and found cache quite quickly. Tftc

TFTC, out for a walk at the beach after work, since it was a lovely Manawatu day after a week of wet weather. After a little bit of searching of the trails, found and recovered the trackable. Cache all good.
11.05am. Took a while to find my way in but then soon had this one.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
We visited GZ in between heavy showers...went straight to it,signed the log and re-concealed.Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC!
Wind blown sand and dirt, hunted for about 15 minutes with no luck, tried the PAF option then went back with our eyes on and success TFTC
Took the dog for a walk down this way and signed off the H in this popular series.
All good at GZ - coords were spot-on
Now where did I write down all those other codes??
Thanks for the series!

#2331. I have been up in Napier over Queens Birthday weekend attending a conference. Heading back today to Wellington with several work colleagues, two of whom helped me geocache on the way north and one who is getting her first taste of the sport. Decided to do a bit of a diversion and pick up the two remaining Skindo A-Z caches in the Manawatu. So through the gorge we went and headed west to Sanson then down to Himatangi. Found the geotrails but the cache took a wee bit longer to find as there is quite a lot of places it can be tucked away in this area. Signed the log and recorded the code. Put the container back as found. Thanks for hiding it here. Cheers GSEL
Hello NZ!

As it was a lovely sunny day and we had friends from the UK with us we headed to the beach for the afternoon. We had great fun there and obviously had to find a geocache in the area before we could head home. As this was the only one close we all set about in search for it.
We started the road side of the sand dunes and wiggled our way through them trying to find a way to the GPS location. It was harder than we thought and clambered places we decided were way higher than a terrain 1.5 so must have been the wrong location!
We gave up and headed back to the car and on the way back Mr Jamogen found one last place we could venture. Bingo! We were at the coordinates finally, and it wasn't long before I spotted the cache! We felt the hint is slightly misleading, but the GPS is bang on so it was still easy to find once in the right area!
Thanks for hiding! This marks our 500th Geocache and day 114 of our streak!

Had a touch of cabin fever so was out to grab a few caches to start 2016 - this was one of about a dozen found today so off to a good start. Parked at the road end and wandered up the track and saw a geotrail which headed off in the right direction so followed that and received a few GeoStripes for my efforts. Once out the other side the cache was quickly found - TNLNSL and left as found. Thanks for the placement skindo.
We left Hamilton yesterday and broke our slow caching journey with a night in a wee bach at Himatangi Beach before carrying on to Wellington. It was howling a gale yesterday, but today it is calm and clear, perfect for a stroll around the village.
We missed the track to GZ, but had a good climb over the sand dunes, trying to find a way in. Backtracked with success and soon found the cache all safe and dry. I left a fish.
I spotted this dragon skeleton in the dunes, I thought I would share.

Back in Palmy for work today, and we finished early, so I decided to do a detour on my way home to Wellyville. Managed to find the three northern-most level one caches of this series. This was the third. A bit of trouble getting to the right spot - I circled the area before finding a bit of a trail. I was probably on the neighbouring private land at some stage too. Found it exactly where the hint and coordinates said it would be, though it's not a location that would stand out as a typical cache location. It could easily get buried under sand and vegetation if it gets left a few months between finds. It would also be very easy for sand to get into the clip and stop the lid from sealing properly. (Just a warning to future finders!)
Signed log, recorded code, brushed the sand off my suit pants and shoes, and headed home, having completed about 90km of detour. TFTC.

The last one of the day. I was originally planning to grab this one, but then the rain started coming down heavily and I changed my plans. After lunch we started home, but the rain had eased off so I took a chance (who knows when I'd be back along this way or have the chance to take such a detour). A bit of a clamber and after a reread of the hint (and a false route given by my GPS), I finally found the cache. TFTC

Popped up and grabbed cache container. Gates up and signs saying private property, keep out. Will take container with me to Etherlord's event this Friday, can hand over then if you're in attendance, otherwise, will arrange to leave with EL for safe keeping in meantime.
I'll go and take a look this week, and see if it's still in place, and let you know.
Note to the cache owner - I think the cache is under a ton of sand and tree either destroyed or partially destroyed. The area is now sporting a gate... it may now be private??
took a special trip to find this one - only to find the area bulldosed - tried to search in the area were there is a damaged tree but if its there still its probably buried under a few feet of sand.
Oh dear, without a GPS and with all the bulldozing, I didn't know where to look!
Fast easy find on my way to place a new cache 3km down the beach from here. Looks like some work is going on here, may need to look at moving cache before it gets bulldozed. TFTC.
A Skindo cache... approached this one with trepidation - but No, an easy find. Geocache number one on my return home from NZMCA Easter rally in Foxton. TFTC

TFTC. This was the cache I was after today, justafew more left at this level. An easy find from the right approach angle!
10:52:00 AM. Home for a week to catch up with the family. Out for a look around Palmy and catch up on a few caches. They have certainly sprung up in the last last 3 years since we were last back. Grabbed this one while on our way to the beach for the day to cache. Beach wasn't so warm today. TFTCSL
The gps was saying 'go on, have a look in those spiky plants'. Not too keen on this I referred to the hint which pointed (pun intended) me away from the spiky plants. Geez, that gps can get me into a lot of trouble...but not this time!

Phone lead us straight to the GZ, but need to watch the flax looking plants, I got stuck five or six times by their points. Got the cache and found our pen missing so took a pic of the cache as proof. Can send if required. TFTC
Battled the spiky bushes, blood was drawn, got to cache to realise we had no pen. We were not keen on a repeat journey so have a photo of cache to verify the visit if required.
Cache # 1,463 - 1 of 4 of these challenge level 1 caches today, trying to clear up the western side of the region. Did with Violet Butterfly, and ended up having to carry both VB and geobaby through the spiky plants, which still managed to get me several times through my thick pants. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Found today with The Wandering Dragons. Swapped a trinket. Those spiky plants are rather scary! Thanks!

Great, another opportunity to harvest yet another "@" clue. Which we did. Moving closer!
Upon reaching GZ we made a straightforward find.
Cache in order; log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
From here on in the day just kept getting better and better!
The Turtle strikes again!

Found with quinella after climbing around dumped fill, spiked by flax things and stabbed by tree!! Tftc- I think
Got it! Was a fairly difficult cache with the nasty shape plants, but if one take ones time, one can get through them okay. No nasty flying things to cope with today and finally made my roundabout way to the cache. TFTC

An eventful cache; dropped my pen when stabbed by a sharp flax shrub and then stung by a bee as I photographed the log as proof of find. Left a Happy Feet coin.

A bit of a diversion to this one but it was one of the last level ones I didn't have so it had to be done. Some pretty spiky foliage about, pleased I spotted it early and made the necessary course corrections.

Ski do, were you feeling vengeful when you placed this cache?
A pathway to hell with plants determined to prick and maime at every step of the way. [:o]
The only reason we remained looking was the thought of the painful withdrawal without the satisfaction of a found cache!
Uplifted TB Cape Henry Lighthouse. Will send it on its way towards Cape Egmont.

A lovely sunny spring day . What better excuse for a day out geocaching further a field. Picked up Jono S and we set off towards Wellington.
Beware of the sharp pointy thorns on the many bushes leading to the cache as some are hidden and they are sharp enough to draw blood and they hurt!
Would suggest you do not take young children to search for this cache as the thorns are at eye level.
Nearly gave up on this one having both searched but went back for a last look and there it was.TFTC

[green]Does caching by bicycle ever go smoothly? Today I got buzzed by a magpie (better than a year ago, when one kept hitting me on the helmet with his wings), failed to find a cache, so luckily I had this as a backup, got spiked by the agaves aproaching this cache, lots of blood streaming down one leg, found the cache okay and dropped in a trackable (at least something went right!), buzzed by the same magpie on the way home, then it rains and I get completely drenched.
But at least my streak is intact, now at 80 days .

3 day weekend? I like the sound of that! What's even better? 3 DAYS OF CACHING!!!
Destination sorted (to Wellington and back again), the bags are packed, the travel bugs are ready to travel and the GPSr is ready to show us the way.
After a false start with the GPSr, we finally narrowed down the spot. Lucky me was the one crawling about try to find the thing. Soon in hand and signed.
#24 for the day, 64 total for the weekend with a total of 1250 kms.

While on our New Years Eve walk we went past this one too and found it promptly. TFTC and have a wonderful 2013!
