Day 18 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. Today was my final day in Townsville before heading home via Brisbane to tick off a few more counties. I spent a couple of hours topping up my TSV find numbers to just over 400 before leaving. Cache soon found (but log too wet to sign). TFTC.

After getting through the Saint and Book series in record time caching as part of Team 150, we decided to venture out on our own after lunch to fill in the afternoon and this area looked as good as any to target. A nice quick find was made. TFTC Logbook is totally saturated and I didn't have a replacement with me.
I flew up to Townsville yesterday with SnappyTomCats. I looked forward to chatting up with geo-buddies and finding some caches.
Following the Welcome to Townsville event, we decided to make the most of the lovely evening & grab a few caches not too far from our accommodation.
Covering ourselves with aerogard we entered the wooded area. There were a few cane toads out tonight. I have never seen them before. They are ugly looking critters.
I ducked under the foliage & soon had the cache in hand.

Day 2 of our Townsville Mega event weekend. Out and about with hevwalker we spent most of the day at GZ doing gadget Labs, Escape rooms and socialising!..The rest of the day we managed to do a few more AdLabs and traditional caches. Walking along the pathway, there was plenty of rustling in the foliage to the sides...yuck..cane toads...about 6 of them just in a small clearing! Found the cache but the log was saturated, stamped but only left a red and black smudge. Definately needs some CO care. TFTC
Bit of a search around ..lots of mozzie here.. heading back to the car, the day is starting to warm up.
drrnrchr and Driftingdillons teamed up for the Townsville Mega, and logs signed as Pawsome Foursome for this event.
Container full of ants and log very soggy. Managed to get a stamp on the log.
Thanks to 2N's for hiding and maintaining this cache.

There was a cane toad guarding the cache, which jumped away as we got near, unfortunately he didn’t take his mossie friends with him.
After biking both sides of the Ross River yesterday and picking up quite a few caches during our ride, we decided to take it a bit easier today. A walk up and down the strand, and a short drive out to near the port area still saw us pick up a few caches to keep our streak going. A big thank you to all the local COs for putting out all of these for us to find. Today we were challenged by some, impressed by others and found a couple of hides we hadn’t found before. We appreciate all your efforts.

Picked up my caching buddy to grab this one. I previously attempted to grab this one many months ago but got attacked by mozzies. Not today, carried the aeroguard to GZ.

We were in Townsville Australia for the day on Holland America’s Amsterdam. We saw that there were many caches along the biking/walking trail along the Ross River. So we took a taxi about 7 miles out of the city and started our geocaching walk back to the port from there.
It did not start out well, as the first cache took us through some high grass, muddy and flooded area, and to a totally mosquito-infested area by the river - and it was raining. We did not take our repellent with us, not knowing how many mosquitos there were. On top of that we had to log a DNF, after a long but unsuccessful search for the cache.
We walked the muddy trail to the second cache and the mosquitos all around that area and it was still raining. We did find the cache quickly and moved on.
The next cache finally took us up onto the paved trail, out of the woods, and a few less mosquitos. By that time we were tired of all of the mosquitos. So Marbles walked to the nearest house, knocked on the door, and asked if he could buy any mosquito repellent they might have. The owners were very nice to us. They would not sell it to us, but brought out two cans of spray and let us put as much as we wanted on ourselves. We had a nice chat with them and moved on.
The rest of the day went much better – It stopped raining, the mosquitos stopped bothering us, and all of the other caches were either on or just off the paved trail. By the end of the day we found 26 caches and only added one more DNF.
Thank you to GeocachingTownsville for 15 of the caches in the RRPT trail series, OzGeoker for 3, choppersrule for 2, and the other 6 COs for their efforts and for their caches.

Second time here. Last time, it was getting dark so I didn't find it. I spent more time today and found it. The cache was in bad condition. The lid was missing and the log book's pages all stuck together (water damage). I did my best to fix the log book, gave it a new mini ziplock bag and I put a new lid on the cache.
DNF Not without gaining a few mosquito bites, I looked but could not find. Geo-munchkins practiced their scooting, but then started having tantrums with the mozzies, so off we left quickly. Perhaps I will be back solo next time.

We looked and we searched, we read logs and the cache notes over and over again, nope nothing here for us to find.
We see by the logs that this cache is hit or miss we are certainly the miss.

I failed to find this one previously so tried to find this one again while i was staying in town. It took quite a while because of the GPS. bounce but finally sighted it. lid is missing but log is ok for now
Found with LJB54. Recommend mosquito repellent. This was our second go at this one and this visit SUCCESS rewarded us with a TB Goldhunter we retrieved and will help us it along its way.

Found, but was full of ants and spiders have made a sweet web around the hole. Good hide though after some extermination we signed the log and placed it back among the 8 legged guardians.
Looked everywhere, couldn’t find it. Plus got attacked by every mosquito in Queensland.
T4TC - After previous posters warnings i was a bit apprehensive about this one. But with a quick confirmation call. I was in and out quickly.
Fun little hide!!
Be careful of the little residents! We found a Black and yellow snake living in the nearby tree

A short walk and a bit of a search found the cache. It could only be in one area but there are plenty of hidey holes. Log signed. TFTC

I was in Townsville for a family holiday and went out for an afternoon walk by myself enjoying the scenery and the lovely weather. My Mothers family owned several businesses in this area back in the 1930's and 1940's and according to my uncle the family drunk in every pub.
My last night in Townsville and the family thought I had been patient not geocaching the whole time.... so we went on a night caching adventure just to get a few more...
A quick find
Thanks from mogni

Quick find to conclude our run into Sth Townsville today. No mozzies on a breezy winter afternoon, thanks 2N's
Found at 10:34 AM GAFF1 in the company of RocketBabe.
A bit of a tooing and froing to get to the right location and then the cache was spotted in a little nook. Hard to spot in the darkness of the hole.
Thanks 2N's.

After reading the last cachers log, I didn't hold out much hope for this cache but its still there in its hiding spot. Insect repellent is a good idea and a torch can come in very handy!! TFTC 2N's
While staying in Townsville for a few days and heading to Palmer St to grab a bite to eat we decided to take a detour and grab a couple of caches on the way
Have to add our name to the growing list of DNF's here but thanks for maintaining the hide anyway RobS72[^]
