Yes a definate lovely view for sure, hidden away never would have known it was here! tftc
Revisit by mrs, first time here for mr, no wagging tails today. So nice to look at where the water is coming from and going, and work out what the loop is. Very serene.
We found these 3 caches during our stay in Manapouri and we enjoyed getting into this area and see the view on the river.

Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
Today we're heading back from Lake Gunn, that point was as far as we could head north to Milford. Road was closed for repairs after recent heavy rains. Now, we have just had lunch back at Sandfly Cafe (we visited earlier) and now we are gradually heading back to Te Anau.
I parked the car up and we 3 walked along the track which had lots of overhanging branches and long grass which pretty much saturated my bottom half inc my shoes. There was a round fireplace used for some campers I suppose, then Aiden spotted the stump then the cache. Not a bad spot to camp!

Gorby contacted me on Monday asking if I wanted to join him and Rebel98 on a trip to Queenstown for a long weekend. As I already had a week off in between jobs I was free to join them. We travelled from Queenstown to Te Anau, up the Milford Rd as far as we could, over to Cromwell before returning to Queenstown. Many adventures were had and many wonderful gems discovered. We signed with a variation of our own names or R. A. G.
We decided to head up the Milford Rd until we couldn't go any further and then make our way back. After stopping in Te Anau for lunch we headed south to find the caches along the river. We weren't sure how far we'd get our SVU but Rebel98 engaged his 4WD abilities and made it.
We walked along the little-used trail, as because of all the overhanging branches and long grass my pants were well drenched by the time we made it to GZ. We were then surprised to find a fire-pit close to the cache, which was quickly located.

Found it with MrsC on our NZ travels, from the UK. Quick find, thanks. On a walk from Te Anau. Good view of the river.
Found with mr c on our travels from the UK thank you. Rather than heading off on the Kepler track we first went to this cache and were rewarded with excellent views.
Found this on one a walk without a dog
Thanks for the cache Greetings from the Netherlands

A quick and easy find. A lovely spot to put a tent up, if you were allowed. Cheers
Easter holidays, and a road trip to Milford Sound. Today we drove from Invercargill to Te Anau with a magic sunny and calm autumns day
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more[^]. Today I decided to go a drive to the south down Manapouri way from Te Anau today.
I took my dog, Colorado, for a walk down here[:o)]. When I went off looking for this one I told to stay, which he did perfectly and didn't chase a passing SUV.
Cheers for the cache.

Going to stay in Te Anau for a couple of nights, so we had a bit of time to explore. This looked like a nice little walk, all caches found easily and in good condition.

I was taking a break in Te Anau for a couple of days, in between hiking the Rakiura and Kepler Tracks. I spent today doing a few short walks and finding a few caches in the greater Te Anau area. I parked the car near cache #1 and went for a waking finding all caches in this series. TFTC!
On a quick holiday in Te Anau, haven't been this way for many years. Thanks for the caches and I look forward to coming back again soon. Apologies for the generic logging.
I loved the cache, and it was actually a really good day out with valleysend tftc
Over shot this at first so drove on to 3 and got this on my Way back no problem with this one tftc
We came for a nice walk, no four legged friends this time, with CO and friend. They would be driveable, but the walk was much nicer TFTC!!

It took a wee while to sort out which track to use for this cache, but once there, it was a fairly quick find. TFTC
Took the path to this as my mother was with me. Decided 3 was a bit too far for her but thanks for these caches
Such a beautiful outlook from here thanks for bringing me to the spectacular location from Australia
Day 3 of our south of south NZ caching blitz being shown around by kiwigeoswarmi and granville86a. Great to have the local knowledge to find these spots. Might have had to leave the pooch at home but that doesnt mean we miss out on the dog walk. Great spot. Tftc
Found alongside Hevic, silvachief, and jaycie on our Fiordland trip. We took a somewhat indirect route to this one, but we were glad to have emerged at the spot we did when we finally signed and sealed the elusive cache. The downhill ramble back to the car gave silvachief and I an excuse to have an impromptu sprinting race - which I won handily - and exhaust us just a little further. Cheers!
#4117. Day 5 of the southern adventure. Have flown south to attend a conference at Te Anau over Queens Birthday weekend and after spending two days listening to talks and meeting people, it was time to get out and find some caches. After a trip up north, it was back to the Te Anau area and a few caches before heading south to Invercargill. Drove past this one on the way to MFDW3. But stopped on way back. Did quite a meandering track following the GPS through the forest before coming out into a clearing and spotted the hiding place immediately. Signed the log and replaced where found. Thanks for the cache KiwiGeoswami.
Quick stop on our way from Te Anau via Manapouri back to Queenstown. Thank you for the cache. Greetings from Frankfurt, Germany.
Drove along a newish widened track off the road to the bottom of hill below the GZ by the river. The new cycle trail skirted the riverside here to disappear along the bush line. The climb to the GZ wasn't too bad but looks like someone tried to drive to the top and got stuck, what a mess of hippo trails they left in the black mud, it really spoilt the clean green bush area. Cache was a very wet one drawn from hide and the bags trying to keep it together were doubly dirty and wet. I SL while the little woman cleaned the seals and changed the bags. I grabbed the rubbish swag too big for the cache and rehid at the place. tftc
A hidden area with dirt trails, likely known to locals only. Apparently a filming location for LotR, the area flanks a dramatic bend in the river.
The banks are sheer in places with significant under-cutting by the river. The water is clear, revealing a bed of smooth pebbles, shallow enough at times to cause fascinating diversions in flow.
We went in to the GZ through the forest and found an easier way out. Thanks for the LotR reveal, and the cache too!

Its a 3 week expedition, with The Seagnoid and Zara, round the South Island. Rakiura Walkway, my objective, is bagged, so its homeward bound the long way round. Its day 16 of our journey, Manapouri to Te Anau via Milford.
Left Zara here and walked the rest of the way. Did not want to get stuck. Great sand house here. Snagged and tagged another one. Cheers

Today, on a mostly rainy and foggy day, we have made a trip from Te Anau to Milford Sound. Along the way there were 3 earth caches from which one was fenced off. We also went for the earth cache on Milford Sound. Back to Te Anau, we saw the sun for the first time today and we therefore decided to do the small Balloon Loop trail.
Our big thanks to all COs for bringing us to these nice places.
*Quickly found after finding the right route to GZ.*

On my way to Manapouri I stopped here to get these two caches. Congratulations to your dog: (s)he has very good taste. It's a nice spot by the river indeed.
Thanks for showing the place and greetings from Austria.

Thanks for the walk. Downhill, uphill, wet feet. Thanks. Now to find car without hills.
Found with Chosen1978 on our way to Te Anau from Manapouri. River in all its glory today after rain. Thanks Edith for the cache.

fefe.adrien and I spent few days between Te Anau and Manapouri, such lovely places !
We stopped here in order to find the Waiau River aka the "Anduin River" of the LOTR.
Even with the movie, this river is so beautiful ! We enjoyed a lot to find these caches along the edge.
Really nice discovery and walk, TFTC
We signed on the logbook with our team name : lekiprokos

I started out on what I thought was a path along the river, but two steps I was up to my ankles in sludge. I was prepared to give up on this one, but then Wifey found the correct (and dry) path and we were back on track. Thanks.
