Day three - Geo Toroa DunedinFinally the sun has decided to show its faceWith Queensland buddies, Snickersallan, chamad and Wollaston, BenM70, gcovernSigned log as QLD+1Thanks for creating and placing for our enjoyment
Here in the land of the king white cloud to attend the mega in Dunedin. Many thanks to all those involved in the organisation! Today we targeted some oldies and virtuals . Much better weather and lots of fun. Travelling and caching as a group Qld+1. A big hike included! Cheers . This one was a clever hide and a hard slog into GZ
DAY Seven (28/10). The nice weather has been turned on today, a very nice day and it has become a very pleasant day to cache. Our team is still playing catch up, we have just the one event for today, we will work around that and make up for lost time. The plan is to finish the rest of aeroplane and albatross, to continue on the dts and a couple as we pass. Oh and then there is the old caches and some whereigos and my favourite letterboxes and multis ... OH so much to do, there is no time for food, lucky its still daylight till 8.30pm. Thanks to the COs for all the caches we found today. It was a great day and all caches were replaced as found.
Our third and final day of the Mega caching with geofriends from Aus before we go our separate ways. Group consisted of Bluewattle, chamad, Wollaston, Willis007, kolour, Ardom, Gcoven, BenM70, and Snickersallan. Logs were signed as QLD+1.A big thank you to all the cache owners who placed this great amount of caches for our enjoyment and the benefit of the whole geocaching community.Apologies for the generic logs, as I rarely log them whilst travelling around the countryside and tend to do them once back at home.

Amazing to see the wagon ruts. I found the cache after a circuit of GZ. Given the lack of track there, I tussuck bashed straight to the next cache ??
Where Bullocks Passed (Dunedin, Otago)Dunedin MEGA Monday and day 3 of some great caching with QLD caching buddies! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. Out and about with Willis007 and other members of the group QLD+1 finding solved puzzles and multis plus other targeted caches. We decided to walk up to the oldie at the top, picking up a few traditionals on the way. Bit of a bash to this one. Logbook signed and replaced as found. Tftc
After taking a direct route (Or as direct as is possible through the brush) Fangsoki and I arrived at the search area.Although Fangsoki had found this cache previously,it still took us a while to locate the container. Now to take a direct route through the brush to find our target cache.TFTC daywalk and thank you for the interesting history of the area, (We didn't find any skeletons)
#21127 - 4:01:30 PM; Day three of the GeoToroa Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune and our better halves. After a couple of nights in Queenstown, today we are headed across to Dunedin for the Mega weekend. On arrival, we met up with some other "Aussies on Walkabout" (McLookers, feathertop, Pheltern and Wombatwandering) to collect the four local caches published in 2000, along with some others we passed along the way, including this one, before wrapping up the day at the Meet and Greet Event. Logs were signed/stamped "Aussies on Walkabout" or "AoW" on behalf of our group and then returned as found. Picked this one up as we headed onward ever upward for Flagstaff Hill and collected some nice unloved of more than 12 months since the last find here as a bonus. TFTC daywalk
Arrived in town from Queenstown and met up with the group of McLookers, Phetlern, feathertop, LuckyL10n and Wombatwandering and headed off for the 4 old Dunedin caches. This one was grabbed as headed across to the Mt Flagstaff cache...good to see the cache is still there and in good shape. Many thanks for the cache daywalk....
Found with Gazania Rigens whilst stumbling around in the flax on Flagstaff Hill, chasing around with fellow Mega attendees.Loved the creatively amusing camouflage for this one!TFTC
Found in the company of McLookers and Luckyl10n and wanderingwombat and Sol de lune.Tricky find in all the vegetation
We walked back to the path from the Flagstaff Hill oldie via this cache, which was found quickly under its funny host. All good here. TFTC!
Joint [Resus] . We wandered around at GZ for a while looking under various plants but had no luck. Then feathertop moved in one direction and we heard the familiar sound of a cache. Found with feathertop, McLookers, Sol de lune, LuckyL10n and Phetlern. Log signed Aussies on Walkabout. Thanks!
Found on our trek up Flagstaff admiring the views along the way. Log signed Aussies on Walkabout. Found with Feathertop, Wanderingwombat, Phetlern, Sol de lune and LuckyL10n.Hard to spot. Thanks for placing the cache daywalk.
I wish a bullock was nearby today. We could have used one to get to this cache We decided to use this cache to approach "Flagstaff Hill". My memory of getting to the Flagstaff Hill cache 11 years ago - was being inconvenienced by the odd flax plant and snow. Now it seems every gorse and tussock bush known to man has been crammed in the area. I led the way to this cache - being more bulldozer-sized than 1MinnieMoo. We finally arrived at GZ and found the prize. I was hoping to find a nice clear path back to the path - or the Flagstaff Hill cache. No.. none of that. Onwards "bulldozer" I enjoyed the challenge of getting to this one. I also appreciate the information in the listing. TFTC daywalk

Day 5 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo NZ adventures. We have a few days in Dunedin and today the priority goal was 4 particular old caches, and a few other old caches sprinkled through between. Of course when doing a walk such as this one, we will also grab any we pass along the way.
Initially Fangsoki had thought we’d bypass this cache but after arriving at the trig point and reading about the best approach for my main target cache, we decided this might be wise to head to this one and then across.
Well that was a bit…
I did a double take before making a grab at this one that is for sure!!
Thanks for the cache daywalk.

Cache 1210 Finding caches for my “wheel of challenges” trip, headed to Dunedin Easter Friday ️for some hidden dates caches and if I’m lucky 1 or 2 D/T caches then when I return home on Sunday I plan on attacking the power trail at the back of lake Waihola to finish the challenge of “seeking smileys” x100 for the month. Starting to make my way to GCB0 now and being as the SW approach is easiest I might as well snag this cache on the way past, a bit of a hike through the tussocks before arriving at GZ where I went round and round in circles hunting it wasn’t till I approached GZ from a different angle I where I spotted the hide easily I’m surprised I didn’t stand on it , cache is in great condition T4TC
This is such a cool cache. Thanks for giving us, *Filser1* and me, a bit of Dunedin history on our way to Flagstaff Hill this morning. Very cool camo as well.

TEMBO! and I had a task today. We are heading to the old Flagstaff Cache from 2000. Never the less we are also open for Caches on our way. So we visited "Where Bullocks passend". This was not an easy find but we found it.
Thanks to daywalk for hiding and maintaining the cache.

Parked at the bull pen. I went up the fire track most of the way to swampy doing caches on the track and on side tracks. Then came back via Flagstaff. Took a little over 4 hours.
Snared the two target caches of the day, Old School and 50% Favorite. My legs are pretty beaten up, between Old School and Walkaways of Otago - Swampy I did my fair share of bush bashing.
Popped down to the Rhododendron grove too because in my mind a 260 m vertical is just a small detour.
One of the caches found on this sort of loop walk was my 10,000th physical cache find.

This cache was one of one of the highlights of my trip. Great weather, interesting history and a good hide. A favorite point awarded. Thanks
We set out with the intention of wandering up the hill for a bit, and got bitten by the what's just around the corner/over the rise bug and ended up close to the top. We were just passing the Davis track turn off and a voice calls out hullo.
Transpires it is IereHay and her sister slogging up the hill. they provided a little insight as to how close to the summit we were so we pushed on and had our lunch there, and obviously nipped over to grab this cache which has probably one of the most interesting and well researched pages.
Great to meet you guys.
For those interested, there are similar historic bullock ruts beside Burkes Pass on the way into the Mackenzie basin

It’s a calm, sunny morning up here in Flagstaff - a joy to be wandering through the red tussocks

Safe to say this is definitely off the beaten track. H is resting in the car which is good as I imagine she wouldn’t be such a fan of getting to this one. Me, well I love a challenge, I just wish I had opted for long pants. Interesting to hear about the “mountain track”. We defiantly have it easy these days. Thanks

After finding the 2000 cache we cut directly from it across to this. Certainly a good way to go and quite fun through the grasses and across the springy moss along the way. Last log there is from a photographer that found it accidently while up in the area to photograph dear. Lots of evidence they are up this way as we followed the barely there trails and the many piles of their poop along them! Great views of the fog heavy down in the valley all around us. With the cloud above we were in a gap between the grey... very cool and great views Too.
Trip log: When cheap flights presented the opportunity to go to NZ with GreyHams, who was keen to get the 5 2000 caches and the web cam I was of course very keen to tag along. I didn't want to miss out on that... Equally as keen for those caches myself and the first chance to get the passport out in a long time and head overseas while we could. Covid Happenings of course did put the trip in doubt and a last minute effort from GreyHams to get the flights changed and it was looking like this might actually happen... until I arrived I truly didn't think it would!
The cache list was quite simple, the 5 2000 caches and the webcams. Of course we did look at others as we travelled, types, DT, not chosen which were in abundunce and caches of quality, if your cache made our list it had a quality we needed. Many thanks for your cache that helped guide us along our way.
Certainly it was a memorable time, barefoot 500 plus metres across a mud estuary of shells and crabs was more fun than it should be. As was pushing through wet thick high flax or tall wet grass across to the caches. But the most memorable would be the fog, the thickest, most relentless fog but it provided some stunning scenery at times and was just crazy.
I loved seeing all the chinese takeaways that did fish and chips, the perfect hedges and a deserved shout out to Indian Zaika for its great food! Certainly with the fog and rain it was an interesting trip and we got quite drenched at times, it hid a lot that NZ has to offer but 'it's a caching trip' after all so it ticked all the right boxes and was very enjoyable regardless. Huge thanks to GreyHams for letting me tag along while he did all the planning, booking, driving and sending in the answers for the caches... as always!

Trip log:
International travel!!...OMG it feels good. Grabbed some cheap flights and anxiously waited for some outbreak to derail the plan, but that amazingly didn't happen. Sure, I had to scramble and reroute our trip via Brisbane & Sydney as we were originally going through the plague pit...aka Melbourne, but we still made it.
Having done most of the North Island, it was good to finally have a crack at the South. 5 year 2000 caches and a webcam, thats a nice little haul. Sure, some of the year 2000 caches involved bush bashing....in the rain/fog/mist...but we got them all. We had lots of other little targets like getting all our types/sizes/DT, NZ in particular has so many 'Not Chosen' size caches, super rare back in Oz, so we made sure to get as many as possible. If you are reading this, its because this cache had a quality we were chasing.
As always, the Earthcaches and the Virtuals took us to some really cool places, the Steampunk HQ and the boulders being birthed at the beach being the highlights. My favourite cache though would have to be the one where we had to walk 500m over a mud flat, dodging shells and crabs with our bare feet.
This trip will be remembered as the 'fog trip' as we saw a lot of it, which meant we saw little else. Oh, that and how every Chinese takeaway also doubles as the fish & chip shop....its a thing!

Wow - what a History! Wasn't sure about whether to attempt this one or not, but as I was so close having completed the virtual and the 'oldie', I decided it would be a shame not to go for the 'trifecta'. I gradually worked my way towards what my phone seemed to think would be GZ, and then spotted an area nearby which I thought might be of interest, and then something else... what's that doing here? Oh it's the cache! TFTC, much easier than I anticipated (mind you, after the fiasco of my searching earlier I was owed an easy find?) Now there remains just the simple matter (?) of navigating back to the track.... TFTC. Another 2 1/2+
Find #999. I deliberately missed the caches on the way up from the Bullring so I could grab this one and then the old Flagstaff one for my 1000th find. I was surprised that the track was so visible but considering how boggy it must have gotten it’s not unsurprising when you think about it. Took a few moments to find. Tftc
Never saw the trail so bushwhacked. Got to gz and then found some ruts. Despairing another dnf then lo and behold I investigated the right place. Luckily no bullocks today to trample it. Nice one.
New Zealand is under Level 4 lockdown from today for at least a month, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am disabling all my caches for the meantime to remind people that we MUST break the chain of infection.
Covid-19 is now being spread within the community, person to person. We know that the virus will remain on surfaces like metal and plastic for up to 4 days.
We have only one chance to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading further. This is to BREAK the chain of infection by keeping each household separated completely. During this time each of us MUST keep isolated and only share with the people in our own household.
The best advice is to act as though you are infected... which you might be. We know there are cases in Dunedin... I might be infected and so might you.
If you touch a cache container, you will leave viruses on the plastic, logbook and pen. Those will remain infectious for up to 4 days. Suppose some other person finds the cache tomorrow. They are likely to pick up those viruses and will get infected.
Playground equipment is out of bounds for exactly that reason- touching surfaces can spread infection.
Each of us has to do our bit to save lives. If the Covid-19 virus spreads, a lot of us will die. Maybe your grandmother, or my friend who has just had a bone-marrow transplant.
Stay home, stay safe, let's get to the other side of the pandemic before we go geocaching again.

A lovely day which would should not be wasted. Messaged Eve07 to see if she was feeling up for a walk and after a debate in the car we decided to avenge my attempt of the bull ring flagstaff and swampy road round walk. 5 years ago I attempted it and at T for 2 area I fell down a hole and well doctors said that I would have been better off breaking it, 2 years it took to recover from that. I swore I wouldn't come back on own and Eve07 agreed.
We had a bit of a laugh but the lack of shade up here and lack of wind made it very hot hiking up these hills. Luckily we found along the bullock track some flax bushes tall enough to rest under out of the sun. By late afternoon near the pineapple track we could hear some noise, like a boombox .... but wait its the Six60 concert at the Stadium.
It was a good thing Eve07 was with me to give me a bit of a hint, I left her 10m from GZ in the shade enjoying the view as I hunted around.

Missed getting on to the bullock track! So further up realised the mistake so just cut across to the Cache area in the mist and slight drizzle. Missed the cache on the first sweep but just touched it unexpectedly as it was well camoued and covered in natural material.
Had some fun finding this cache after searching for the oldie up on top.
Lucky I knew there was a bullock trail otherwise I may have fallen in.
TFTC and the interesting history.

Time for some bush bashing on our way to one of the older caches on the South Island. Glad that it did not took too long to locate and grab the cache. TFTC
I flew in to Dunedin this morning about 9:30am today on my own for a special mission. I picked up my rental car at the airport and I'm of to collect old caches and some others for a challenge cache I’m working on.
After getting the oldie near here, I came back this way to have my 2nd attempt at finding this cache. I have spent far far too long looking for this and was a little annoyed there was no hint, but only thru persistence I was able to find the flamin' thing. But on a good note, the co-ords were pretty much spot on. I must have walked around this several times before finally seeing it. Now to get of this hill before the weather turns nasty! It was fine when I got up here, now it's not!

Made it out to the gully but wandered around a while and got stabbed a bit by gorse. Gave up eventually because my phone's GPS was jumping around a lot.
Very cool spot! Amazing that this is still here despite decades of rain and plant growth. Lots of gorse around though, not my favorite
Found on the way back from the famous oldie. Bullocks? Here? Sounds like bullshit ... It took a while to find it somewhere between tussock although the coors are good.

Found on our return road trip from Papamoa to Dunedin. Our mission this visit to the south was to find some of the old caches thus a visit to Flagstaff was required.
It was a glorious Dunedin day with fab views of the city. ROS volunteered to do the bush bash to GZ for this one and headed off into the distance. MAR could see from the distant track that it was taking a while to locate the cache but eventually ROS headed off further into the distance signaling that he had found it.
On return he claimed it was a very mean hide especially with the added camo. Another smile claimed on the mainland.
Merry Christmas and TFTC.

I think the DCC must have forgotten this road is here, judging from the lack of cycle lane next to it.
Thank you for the cache, a rather enjoyable find. Claiming as part of my 5th ramble for coord.info/GC2XBA7 Ramblers Reward Challenge.

On our 3rd day in Dunedin the aim was to get more of these old caches. We started off for Flagstaff Hill cache and looked for some other on the way there.
Oh my god, do we really have to? Yes, if we want the cache, there is obviously no other way. So we fighted for a way through the vegetation. This was really hard work! At point zero we looked around, oh previous cacher didn't find it. Maybe we should have read that before. But then suddenly apa found something, that turned out to be the cache. The coordinates were really accurate what we liked very much! The camo is great and very suitable. It therefore get's a fav point.

From previous logs I have a good guess as to what the camo is. Unfortunately I couldn't spot the cache. I figured I had to go home at some point so I've left this one for another day.
Another dunnas road trip caching up with kjr. On a mission along the pineapple track.

Lovely day for a walk on the Pineapple Track with BCD. I have never been up here before. A right Dunners stunner with just a little bit of a cool breeze. Bit of a detour off the main track and once at GZ a quick find. TFTC
Walked in from the flagstaff track. Great history. Nice to get out of the wind while searching. Tftc.
Getting to GZ was pretty straightforward. Finding the cache was a wee bit more challenging, Found it in its cosy lair, very appropriate. Thanks

Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.
One of the more interesting approaches to a cache. Karma Reprint and I went long the track until the distance started increasing then took the straight line. A bit of snow in the shoes and a cold breeze to boot but a great view all around. A bit of hunting around (the ruts are a nice place to shelter from the wind) then KR found it. Goon on that man! Cheers, apt cache name
4:18:00 PM. Bush bashing back from Flagstaff Hill we decided to attempt this one. After a good search we fluked the find. Very clever hide. Log signed. At least we didn't have to worry about snakes here. Thanks daywalk for the cache.
After finding the old cache, took the detour to find some bullocks as I made my way back to the track. Arrived at GZ, found more gorse, a spiky plant and cutty grass? Lets say my arms and legs are a bit of a mess!
As to the cache, walked around with the GPS trying to find something? was not sure what the something was, and when I found it, was not sure what it was! had an aha moment, and the cache was soon retrieved. Loved how you make up your caches
Another fun find, and the last for this Dunedin adventure. I have a deadline and need to be back at the carpark by 2pm, as we are off to the airport. Will be back, next time for the 2 nearby puzzles

I'm from Norway, escaping the cold winter and travelling around New Zealand for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my tourguide. Already back in Norway I realized that I would love Dunedin, looking at the different hiking-challenges in the area and all the old caches. Unfortunately I am getting close to the end of my travels, so I don't have as much time as I hoped for. I was originally planning to have 2 full days here, but quickly realized that it wasn't enough. I managed to squeeze in 2 more days, skipping some other plans I had, which I don't regret. I had an amazing time in Dunedin, doing lots of hiking and the weather was good all the time. Dunedin truly is a geocachers paradise.
Today was my 2nd day in Dunedin. I started slow by visiting the old caches in The Botanical Garden and Signal Hill. Then I did a circuit at Flagstaff Hill, before I finished off with a beautiful and easy walk around Sutton Salt Lake.
About this cache:
Thank you for the interesting history-lesson. It wasn't easy to find my way to gz, but not too bad either. Finding the cache was very difficult, I probably searched for 15 minutes before I found this fantastic hide. It was really funny and deserves a favouritepoint. Tftc

We had intended to find this cache going up hill to Flagstaff Hill but ended up grabbing it on the way down. The camo was rather impressive and only showed it's true colours when MCB poked it with a stick. He certainly proved his worth today being the finder of two caches that my lack of patience would have given up on. Certainly a good reason to cache in a group rather than solo.
Thanks for the cache and bringing us to this interesting spot.

An interesting cache container at a great spot. Found on our descent from Flagstaff Hill.
Thanks

More cross country from flagstaff hill and zoomed in on this one took a while to find looking for the camo that everyone talked about, then bingo.TFTC
Arrived at the parking quite early in the morning but several cars were preent already.
Took the ascending path and visited another cache before we continued with a cross-country hike to this cache - funny camo

On a caching mission in these parts with Ruby, my staffy, tagging along. After Flagstaff, we made our way across to this one and made a relativly quick find. Liked the camo. Interesting history in this area that I didn't know about until coming up here to go caching.
Thanks for the hide daywalk and for sharing the history.

Had a bit of a bash to get to this one. But sure if there was an easier way though. Great camo. TFTC
During our holiday in New Zealand we also visited Dunedin. Dunedin is the Mekka for Geocachers. What a lot of caches are here. Our main goal are some caches from 2000, and that we have achieved.
We also found this one during our hike to the one off the oldest geocaches in the world.
daywalk hartelijk dank voor het leggen en onderhouden van deze cache.
Groetjes,

It was a long caching day. Together with Lady Murazor we reached the southernmost point of our New Zealand trip finding quite a few geocaches along our way and admiring excellent views. Fortunately the weather was better than yesterday. So it was a very good start of the next year! Well, tomorrow there's a time to head back north, our stay here is not as long as we would like it to be.
When I finally located this one I said "Co za $%^!" (which translates as "What a &*@#!") It should be taken as a sign of appreciation.

Thank you for this cache and greetings from Kraków Poland!
Happy New Year 2017!

What a fascinating historical story. I enjoyed walking where bullocks passed, and finding this one. Good camo, as others have mentioned, though it is a little worse for wear externally. Still dry and fine inside.
Nice walk to flagstaff summit with fefe.adrien. A beautiful sunny afternoon just before the storm. Amazing to see the ocean at one side and Alps mountains with snow at the other side, so close ! We enjoyed the view 360° around.
Let's go to the wilderness with this one, easy to walk among with tussock grassland but gorses...
On the spot we could see immediately what is strange^^.
fefe.adrien and I signed on the logbook with our team name : Lekiprokos
Thank you for the discovery

Ninalila and I enjoy a sunny afternoon (before the storm) to go to flagstaff in order to find the old box.
At the same time we search some other boxes around.
The veiws to the South Mountains, the West Mountains and the sea were really nice.
We could see the snow on the summits of mountains around.
We had to go over the tussocks and the gorse, I hate this one.
The cache is well hidden but was really easy to find

#2212. I left the main track and following the GPS, headed off into the wilderness. The tussock grassland is not too difficult to traverse but scattered gorse bushes need to be avoided. Once at the GZ I didn't see the cache immediately. Circled around several times before I noticed something a bit odd. Sure enough there was a container hidden under the pat. Retrieved the logbook and signed. All good here. Returned cache as found and off to visit the old timer nearby. Thanks for the cache.
I wanted to get two more caches to finished off this area so leaving p&vee I headed over from Big Rock. Thought I found an easy route but didn't realize the tussock was higher than myself and another 3/4 of a metre of air below my intended step. After some time and getting really tired I wasn't going to give up - so I kept my pace up and headed towards the hill. Finally made it to GZ and was totally exhausted as I didn't allow myself to rest along the way. Luckly when I arrived (A bonus!) I was a metre away from the cache and smile appeared on my face after throwing myself onto more tussock for a rest. What a great camo! CFTC
I was on my way back from the Old School Challenge cache when I noticed this one was only about 100m from the track. Luckily (i) it was reasonably close, and (ii) the foliage wasn't as high as the Old School Challenge cache. In fact it was very manageable so off I did trudge making a beeline for the GZ. I came across the bullock track about 5m from the cache. I love the camo job though a little bit of it is wearing off. I know that bullocks are big animals but that big...[^]
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Very interesting reading the history of this area. Stopped by as I returned to the Bullring after finding thed Old School Challenge. I liked the cache cover. Gets a fav from me. Thanks for the cache daywalk
I walked up the track to the survey mark but decided to backtrack again to the shortest point to cross country - that worked out perfectly. Thanks so much for all the well researched information about the bullock trail - I learned a lot. The first of many off track adventures up Flagstaff today. A favourite for many reasons. TFTC #7919
Very damp day up here, soaked already so what's a bit more clambering through wet tussock. Huge adventure getting here and would love to have done it on a clear day so the views could have been enjoyed. Carried on from here to Flagstaff which was the ultimate goal of the morning. TFTC
Out for a run up the Pineapple Track and decided to grab this before my return. In the fog that had descended it was handy having a GPSr to speed up my return back to the track.
Nearly missed this one, had to backtrack and go cross country. Clever hide, thanks for the efforts!
Hot enough for shorts and t shirt yesterday while today was hailing and snowing at the top. Found as part of ramblers reward. My first ramble.
It was super cool to see the old roadbed clearly in this location. Thanks for bringing me here! We stopped by here to grab the old Flagstaff Hill cache. The weather was beautiful, though maybe a bit chilly, when I headed out. I grabbed four other caches was in the area and was watching some pretty good storm clouds build up to the south. Since the wind was out of the west I though I would be okay but all of a sudden the storm was heading right for me. I ended up jogging the entire way back down in terrible gusts and some light hail. Gotta make the caching exciting somehow!
What a cool cache. Only fall over 3 times to get it. Just amazing to think of what it must of been like those years ago. Thanks to daywalk for placing the cache and jrb5050 for taking me on this walk.
Wow, absolutely amazing to think that used to be a "road!" Really interesting and such an awesome walk up there Loved it, TFTC

After finding "Flagstaff Hill" we walked directly towards this cache, and we found the box after not more than a minutes search .
Thanks for the cache, and for the interesting history in the description.

Found with Dad and Grandma.
It was very windy and Dad piggybacked me back out to the track.

Mrs W.E.K.A., markhnz and hayleyhnz headed across country to this cache, into the by now strong wind, while Mr W.E.K.A., Mrs markhnz, hannahnz and Holly continued along on the track to Road Crossing. The nicely hidden cache was a quick easy find, and it was most interesting to read about the history of this road, of which we were totally unaware. TFTC
An interesting piece of history.
The cache was easy to find once we got to it.
Hayley found the terrain a bit rough and spiky, so I ended up carrying her back out to the track on my shoulders.
Nice hide.
Thanks.

down this way for a work conference that starts later on tonight, so after a morning spent with a rep in christchurch it was time to make my way up here to collect a couple of well wanted caches.
as i was walking along I tried to work on the best approach to this and being a cacher the best line was the direct line (or close enough). The cache was soon located the cache and now on to Flagstaff hill
thanks for bringing me up here on another short caching mission
