I think the cache really has gone this time. It's had a pretty good run, time to move on.
Wow, this is cool.
Would never have found without the hint, but there it was - in plain view like the CO says, but well camoed. A great sculpture, thanks for bringing me here, probably wouldn’t come down this road otherwise and fitting for my 2000th find in total (although I am logging out of order, that is what it is) so a FP as well. Thanks Sidewaze.
International Geocaching Day today, and with a couple of events on in the top of the south I decided today will be a trip to Nelson, since it seeems I have not been there for yonks.
So a quick catch up with the Boomtown Massive over an eggs bene early doors at the local event, then a drive to Nelson. With an upcoming trip south, I decided I will target a few Nelson caches to fill in holes in the D/T and Hidden Month matrices. This will help clarify what I need to do down there. Sandwiched in between was the Nelson event of course; and a few lesser goals and plan Bs.
As it panned out, it was a reasonably successful day. Caught up with the ephemeral Capperz, who was flitting around the place also, but had managed to ditch the whanau at a mall for long enough to go for a drive up Aniseed Valley road and get a few. Then we went our own ways, and it was some cache maintenance and a drive toward Mapua to get a few just before there, before making the way slowly back down a less busy road. A 20+ day and good fun. Logs signed ricardinho, ric.nz or RP where space is limited. Thanks to all the COs.

Paddle chick and I had been to look for this cache before today we got lucky it did take a while to find finally paddle chick spotted it I can finally mark this one off. Thanks for this cache Sidewaze
Tregearp and I first looked for this one about two years ago. Both GPSrs agreed with coordinates and we set about searching. So many options. One of the weird things was the constant low whistle which as a vent hole in the sculpture to let the air pressure balance as the temperature changed - a tad disconcerting.
No luck though, and over the intervening time we've been back several times with the GPSrs always taking us back to the same location.
At a CITO held by the CO was asked a couple of questions which confirmed what we thought we were looking for, and that it had been recently checked.
Back again - and this time Tregearp had an idea for an alternate was of thinking about the hint. A quick look and there it was. About 8m from our initial search location, so given the GZ within the expected margin of error - but we obviously hadn't checked this area carefully enough.
All in good order. Thanks again Sidewaze for another cache - nice to have this one ticked off.

More than THREE times we visited this structure and what was worse was we had a very good idea of exactly what we were looking for, I'd mentioned to SJT on a the last occasion it would be worth having a look in that area, today went there first and there the little beggar was. All in good nick, TFTC.
Something very weird happens here, people can't find this so I disable it. When I check it's sitting there in plain sight - - - exactly where the hint says. So, if you've DNF'd this one in the past, have another go. Remember, there's no shame in reading the hint and that should narrow down the places you need to look .
No luck today.
Wen to the nearby restaurant for lunch, then failed to find this cache... Again.

I have decided, that since there is more than enough local caches for me to complete my calendar project I would try for the Ten Multis in Ten Days Challenge in Paremata, just north of Wellington. But there are not enough multis left in Blenheim, but it can work if I come to Nelson for a couple of weekends. So here I am, with Taybeedragon, Zara and Toby in tow. On a puzzle-only weekend. Well, puzzles, and just one multi per day. The multi done, and with my GPS loaded with nothing but solved puzzles, we set off.
Well, it's supposed to be a puzzle day, but I have run out of solved puzzles before we ran out of daylight. So we are finishing off with finishing off Mapua.
The number of DNFs here is interesting, given that the dragon found it without GPS or hint, and while I was still just generally walking around amiring the place. Would be awesome as a summer meeting place! Should hold a geocaching event here.
Anyway, I love this sculpture. I don't award a favourite on a cache that cannot fit even a path tag unless it is really special, so this cache misses out. Misses out on missing out. Yes, a favourite, it gets!

The Seagnoid has finding his solved puzzles and an odd multi on the radar for the weekend - in Nelson. Yes!! Zara and I arrived on Thursday, with The Seagnoid and Toby completing the team Friday night. With the multi out of the way its on to puzzles thanks to The Seagnoid solving abilities and thanks to the COs for the extra mind boggling effort.
The Seagnoid had only loaded puzzles for the weekend. But we are running out and are near Mapua so its over to the trusty Cell Phone. Mapua sorted so time to go home.
Hay - that structure is amazing - got to stop - sometimes the driver over rules the navigator. Having a good look around this and wondering how it got here. Would have loved to see that - this is so humongous. I am on the inside and something catches my eye - hey found it - while the Seagnoid is looking up his techy thing. Who needs a GPS! sometimes! Cheers

Paddle chick and I were caching we stopped at this unusual sculpture, we searched for ages but couldn't find what we were looking for. Thanks Sidewaze will have to come back another time .[:(!]
this was a good one to find as the sculpture provided shelter from the rain. we abandoned search after looking on the sculpture & we were pretty sure we didn't have to shift under numerous rocks. I'll have to leave it for an another day.
No luck today.
A nice place to stop though. Need to troll the logs to see if I can get a better idea of the hide. Cheers.

Yay! My third visit here, enjoying the surprise of the sculpture each time. The first fail I put down to inexperience, the second I thought I knew what I was looking for but went away emptyhanded - but sun was bright that day, casting cool shadows. Today was my moutere mission of patience, turning some dnfs yellow. 3 of 5 so far.
Thanks for brining me out here to see this huge artwork in an unlikely spot I probably wouldn't have found otherwise.

Another calm and beautiful winters day, another day stuck in the office conserving my leave in advance of an overseas trip back to the UK, Aussie, Dubai and Singapore coming up next month. Cannot afford to take a days leave as they're all precious. But wait, mrs capperz is off work on Wednesday and with nightowl19 braving the snow at St Arnaud this week there's a chance for a day out, no ties, no rush to be back home. So, options were looked at and destinations mooted, and Mapua and Ruby Bay was the intended destination.
This was, of course, tied in with one or 2 caches on the way there, and back, which would/could highlight the beauty of the area at this time of year. Managed to find a total of 13 solved puzzles so made a dent in that list and move me ever more towards the magic total of 500 for that cache type. Added in an offset Multi, and a opportunistic 4 traditionals and all in all a good day out was had, with lashings of pizza for dinner.
Caching by phone again and a chance to show mrs capperz these impressive artwork/structures. Took ages and my G Z and the clue had me too far down the filed. Headed inside and upwards and with prompting from mrs c the cache soon revealed itself to me, yay. Have a few of these myself and they blend in really well in these sort of environments

We have driven past a few times but today I stopped and took the time to really appreciate this - and to get the cache of course - tftc
Visiting from Pennsylvania, USA with redsoxbean. We loved driving around and exploring the area. TFTC ^_^
Caching with Loth and Draak during a visit from the USA. We had a great stay and found many fun caches.
At last. After 3 tries we found it. Reading the other posts I think there are 2 here. I am pretty sure I found the old one.
Found it *2 (bonus points?)
First i found the new one, logged it and as i moved off, i happened to spot a very familiar cache container type, and thought i may as well pick it up, bingo it was the old one. Did not know there was an old one to be found
After that off to wine tasting.
Found ridding the GTT

When I do return and find this one it will be guaranteed an F P. Wonderful shock as I rounded the corner and saw the art. Under and around but nothing found at Hint place, I think
A quiet spot to stop and admire the unusual sculpture. Spent a bit of time looking in the wrong places until we found it. TFTC
New cache container, new log, slightly different place, slightly different hint. Should be much easier to find now .
Beautiful lunch and tasting at Mahana but a disappointing DNF. Off to Neudorf...
Could have been anywhere, but lucky to just spot it as we were giving up.TFTC.
Great spot for a cache - remember visiting here a few years ago

Seems a random spot for such an interesting sculpture, but I suppose the rusty, or maybe I should say weathered look is in keeping with many of the rural sights around here.
Had to watch your head when inside it, especially when retrieving the cache. Quick find in the first spot I looked.
The building next door was also interesting with its turf roof. Thanks for bringing me here, well worth a cache. TFTC.

#8411. Really didn't expect to see a big sculpture like this in a rural location. Thanks for the info in the cache page; there was precious little to be found at GZ. TFTC.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
This is hilarious!
This was my art teacher in high school when I was at Auckland Girls! Every Friday she wasn't at school as she was off somewhere making scultpures. She seemed to like me - possibly because my mum is hungarian) and always told me I should continue with art - I didn't like art so much really - I did it for the crafts, not so much the painting stuff. But funny!!
Nice to see a piece of art done by her then!

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

It's amazing what you find in the middle of the countryside. Had never been this way before and so was really surprised to come over the brow of the hill and see the magnificent sculpture appear.
After having looked around the sculpture I almost forgot to look for and sign the log.
Lovely spot. Thanks.

Sixth cache today. Amazing what you find in the most unexpected places. TFTC
Found I had not logged this one when checking my old GPS visits. Definately a favourite at the time. TFTC
Called at the adjacent vineyard to have a look at some of their sculptures and do what you usually do at vineyards, and noticed that there was a cache here. Went for a walk down the drive and had a good close-up look at the impressive Yantra, then found the cache after a few minutes' checking likely locations. Signed log, TFTC and for bringing me here.
I'm sure I've found this one before but looking back throuh the logs proved me wrong sorted now TFTC
Interesting place to visit. Had my nieces with me who attend the school a stones throw away so they knew the structure well and showed me how it can be a slide. TFTC
Terrific surprise! Who put that there?
Thanks for the stop, the fun, the art! I agree. Should be a cache at every sculpture!

What a huge piece of art and in such an out of the way place that we would never would have seen otherwise. I hunted and hunted and then was not sure how hint related. Chelzea again had her senses turned on and found it. Thanks for bringing us here.
We thought we would stop by and grab this one on our way home.Have beenpast this a few times before and have also done the 10k walk Mahana a couple of years ago.TFtc
Actually, the magnet was not used in the original hide, so don't worry that it's not there any more.
Well we enjoyed seeing this huge sculpture which we had never seen before. We found the cache after reading the previous log as it is no longer magnetic but in the same region. Thanks for taking us to another interesting place.
[maroon]Day 4 of our 5 day Easter caching roadtrip. Today we were heading from Nelson towards the Mini Trail near Motueka, going up one way and coming back the other.[/maroon]
Wow! Now that's a life sized sculpture. We peeked on Google Earth aswell and didnt expect it to be this big. Water in cache and waterproof log was wet so we dried both. There no magnet on the container so I wonder if its where you originally put it? Thanks for the cache

How random!! Had a look on google maps but when i actually got there it was WAY bigger than I thought. Very interesting indeed. Never been this way before, an easy find and sign. TFTC
Today I Went for the 100 caches in 1 day. With a very early morning and just breaking even at lunch time with 50, it looked like it was going to be 12am to 12pm. But after a move out of the city they started to speed up, and i managed to grab the last at 20:30 with 106!! Thanks everyone for the caches that they have placed, from the ones that have been planed for months to the park and grabs
Like many this was a return cache visit for me, this one was much faster than the last! Very quiet at 6pm on a Monday, had the place to myself. Thanks for a great cache.
This is a great spot for a cache, and was a definite hit with our 5 and 7 year old granddaughters today. The shade of the sculpture was very welcome to us too. Took plenty of photos to show their mum and dad when we got home. With the help of the clue the cache was a nice easy find, and the girls enjoyed being able to find and retrieve the cache. Thanks, a favourite.
I will have to revisit this spot when my friend comes over. The winery just too luring.
TFTC. What an enormus object to come upon as I drove the back roads today. I enjoyed walking not only around but also through this art work.
A favorite vote from me.

A visit to this area to enjoy some Jazz and noticed a nearby cache at this well known spot. Nice hide and not too difficult when it could have been. TFTC
I wondered when we visited the winery for lunch last Christmas how long it would be before a cache turned up here. Not long as it turns out. TFTC

Wow, that is a very impressive sculpture. Every structure like this is deserving of a cache and we were very grateful that this cache wasn't a rust covered nano. TFTC
