Had a fair hunt around all likely looking spots but was unable to locate this one.
Lots of highway noise, but no sign of the cache. Searched the likely looking spots but didn't have any luck.
Despite coordinates seemingly to be off decided on likely GZ and headed in. Very quick find as We came in at just the right angle and spotted the cache within seconds. TFTC
A fairly quick find after a stroll across the lush grass of the park and an encounter with a friendly dog.
Quick find with the grandkids on the team. Some pre planted easter eggs around cache area added to the excitement.
5078. A gloomy rainy day and nothing much to do around home after completing some tasks, also one of our caches needed a new logbook, so off I went geocaching on the other side of town. This was relatively difficult to find, even though the coords were accurate, with such a small container and a large number of hiding places. Thanks, Rodney.
#5110. Had a couple of hours before my flight back to WLG, so figured I had enough time to head down to Avonhead Park to look for a few caches. From past logs I thought this might be a tricky find, but luckily I spotted it quickly (whew; I didn't have time for a lengthy search). I was hoping to find a way through to Russley Rd (to reduce walking distance to the airport) but the fence is high and topped with barbed wire, so headed back to Withells Rd. TFTC.
Took Rosie for a walk in the park with Old Boots!. Initially we just looked around at random amoung the shrubs. When we failed to find it we retreated out on the grass and took a line from GZ to the nearest shrub trunk. Bingo. TFTC
No luck today, again. Must get some intel from other finders, Next time.......
Boy oh boy, this one was noisy. Especially, since all four lanes are open now. My GPSr was pointing me about 4m away from any form of tree. So we went in search of a cache. We looked at 10 tree bases before I nearly gave up and since my cachelets were getting restless I gave it one more crack and spotted the cache from a different angle! It was well hidden. This was our 3rd of 3 on our wee scooter cache trip. We went in search of a playground and was sorely disappointed as the playground we saw on the other side belonged to the play centre. Thanks for the cache.

Had no trouble with the coords. The cache was found in the first place I looked. I like that.

The cache was easily found at the logical location and becomes my first ramble for GC2XBA7 Ramblers Reward Challenge as I made a 20km round trip urban walk from the Riccarton Mall area to retrieve this cache.

Went for an evening walk with Mrs McMike2012 & 'muggle' family. Another reasonably quick find in the corner of the park. TN:LN:SL. TFTC...grantn4. #293 for us.
Certainly quite noisy today as there appears to be major resurfacing project underway. It was good to return the cache and return into a much quieter area.
Thanks

Taking care of a weeks worth of dot days and so I decided to do a little night caching so that I could take care of two days in one go by find caches on either side of midnight. Lots of evidence of people searching around the trees. It took a while to find this one by torch and I wonder what the passing cars thought. I know I looked there before, but fortunately there it was with a few minutes to spare. Cheers for the cache, grantn4.
TFTC. This was a very peaceful spot earlish on a weekend morning, there only a few vehicles using the expanded highway nearby.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks for the early morning walk.

Watch out for dogs sniffing around.
We must have spent the morning following Purdiepurdie around as log was signed the same date on several caches in the area.

Visited on a night out Geocaching with my Scouts. They had a brilliant time, and the travel bugs who were with me seemed pretty happy too!
Flew in from Nelson on an all too short stopover on my way to Melbourne. Had a bit of a leg stretch in the park on my way to the hotel. This was the second cache I tried to find here. It took a lot longer than it should have done but I got it in the end. TFTC, Biggles.
Had to have two visits to find this cache today. Was working out a geocaching event for a bunch of Scouts tomorrow night. This was one of 11 caches I went to and the only one I hadn't previously found. Was feeling a bit tired, sore & dehydrated by the time I got there and realised I wasn't putting my best effort into looking. Returned with another Scout leader later in the afternood ( & was under the pylons when thunderstorm struck) and found the cache within 30 seconds of being in the area!
604 - I'm off to find the highway noise,
and I took my dog as one of my decoys.
The needle on my compass did rotate and spin
as I tried to locate that tiny tin.
So many trees for it to be in
But eureka I've got it,
and I signed with a grin.

Another straightforward find of an appropriately named cache as we continued our wander around the park. We now see that it was disabled yesterday as it was missing. Apparently not! TFTC
had a walk around today with my dad and two of my caches are missing sorry will replace ASAP
A simple find. Don't think the cache will last long - non waterproof container in a wet environment.
Caching with Little Horrible.Yep it certainly is a very noisy Roadway, but did'nt find it where your hint said, but it is there now.TFTH
Was in the area and had time to grab a few local caches in this park. I wandered off to this cache, GPS in hand, and noticed an elderly gent following me some distance behind. I had my camera with me and took a few "snaps", and whenever I turned around he stopped following me, loking elsewhere!
Found the cache, signed the log, and started walking back. The gent also turned back but walked slow so I ended up catching him up. I said a friendly 'Gidday' and he asked if I was taking road noise readings?!
Apparently he is spearheading a campaign against the widening of the road and the associated extra road noise, which I admit was really loud. I wouldn't like living next to it.
I explained Geocaching, showed him the other cache in the bush near his home, and we said our goodbyes.
It's amazing the people you meet and the things you learn when caching. TFTC!!!!

Sunday afternoon & everything roars here - traffic, noise, cachers .... Much more peaceful to visit the quiet resting place of many nearby. Thanks.

RuruNZ did a runner on me this week so decided to collect some of the ones she has already done. Took the long way round to this one by going down the wrong road. Should have realised when I saw its location on map. However, let the dog walking muggle walk by as I was approaching gz and he continued past with his back to me I ducked in and signed quickly and walked back to car.
Not much happening during the evening & Mrs G wanted some quiet time to prepare a conference talk that she has to give.....so she encouraged an evenings adventure. Didn't have to be told twice! ha ha. In the area collecting a solved puzzle cache by the same CO....nice evening for a wander so I figured why not. Walked bee-line straight across the fields to the cache & quickly found in the first place that I looked...wandered back following my tracks in the dewey grass. No trouble with muggles ...just the odd passing car. Anyone else out and about late at night, or perhaps early in the morning, might see my dewey foot prints hither and tither & wonder what the heck...tee hee....
Discovered that this is a very popular walking area for both two and for legged muggles. Like others I took the diagonal path to start with and soon discovered that their is a path around the outside of the playing fields. Luckily the area is mostly dry after recent rain so walking on grass was ok.
Nice hide, GPS a little out due to vegetation, but soon spotted.
Standing nearby logging this and two dogs have just rushed by and into GZ area ... So be aware, just because you are out of sight doesn't mean you won't be disturbed!
Thanks

A very busy Saturday morning with lots of games of Soccer being played. Had a very pleasant walk round the park and an easy find away from the sports activites. TFTC
Great first hide there
Nice little walk in the park - a couple of 4 legged muggles after we had completed the log..
a bit chilli on the nose but all in all a good little walk

FTF! 12.06am. Great first cache grantn4, coordinates lead me straight to it, found it in the first place I looked! Speaking of highway noise, the upgrades to SH1 past here are quite exciting, can't wait for the new intersection down by the airport, a while to wait for that one though. TFTC (802)
Thanks, will drop off tbs soon

Found it lying on the ground and returned to it's "home" a few inches higher. Enjoyed the walk diagonally across that large park. Thank you.
