Out with some of the grandies for a walk on their lst day of school holidays. This was a lovely shady spot for a bite to eat and a cache. Cheers
We really enjoyed the walk on top of Takaka Hill! Has a great mountain feeling, with the rocky areas but also nice foresty areas. Plus the beautiful views, so lovely here!Yep, quick find here, tftc!
I followed my GPSr to one spot, but then used my Geosense to get to the right spot. TFTC.

In Nelson for some relative's birthdays. Working remotely most of the week, but took today off to cache. My eldest grandson and I went for a drive to Takaka and back (from Stoke) to grab a few challenges, do some walks, and top up my 1.5/1.5 find numbers. 38 caches all up including 5 labs. An enjoyable walk visiting the caches along the way. Cache easily found. TFTC.

A quick find with Tregearp on our first time on the loop track. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks b&w for the cache.
Suffrage Day seemed the perfect day to take my new hiking boots out for their first outdoor run, I'd been softening them up around the house for the week. SJT_NZ suggested the Takaka Hill Walkway as we hadn't been over the hill for a while. A nice wander around the loops picking up a few caches on the way. Thanks b&w for the cache.
Out walking the Takaka Hill Walkway today grabbing a few caches. Nice quick find. Thanks for the cache.
Found during our visit. Logbook too wet to sign. Tiggerbird sent photo of wet logbook. Thanks for the cache
Very cold today. Pleased with myself for getting the very old one on the rocky hill too. Keeps you warm, walking uphill. January? Like UK January!!
We did the nice walk on day without sunshine. But we enjoyed geocaching. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Hamburg Germany
A quick find here. Some walkers ahead of us who would soon disappear from sight as we searched for caches. TFTC Bum.
Next and last stop for the weekend is the Takaka walkway. This is an enjoyable walk for the most part. Some good changes of vegetation and track, the only downside being the intrusion of gorse on some parts. But other than that, all good. We finished this and headed back to Blenheim with 80+ cache finds under our belts and 50+km of track left behind our boots. A good weekend. Thanks all COs.

Before the push up the hill to transmitters a quick stop here. There were 3 other walkers ahead, but not concerned with us. T F T C b&w
Day 2 began nice and early. A tin of beans for brekky and a cup of tea and on the road around 0700, a lie-in compared to yesterday. Started off at Milnethorpe and pretty much cleared the lot in 3 hours. Then to Pupu springs for the Virtual and finished off at Takaka Hill, after a diversion to Abel Tasman lookout. Phew, quite a day and still back in time for mrs capperz to get home.
A long weekend trip to Takaka with mrs capperz away too meant an early start on Saturday, over the hill(s) and a night at the backpackers before another full on day Sunday and home in time for takeaway pizza. A few caches to pump the numbers along, some great scenery and good company with ricardinho.nz in the co-pilots chair. Over 80 caches found and some awesome photos taken and a 30km plus day on Sat, followed by a 20km plus day on Sunday.

After the miserable weather yesterday we were pleased to see a bit of sunshine, so what better way to spend the afternoon than wandering around on the top of the Takaka hill.
I read about the cow in the newspaper several months ago, so it was a great opportunity to get a photo while it is still there.
There was a young family returning from the bush walk as we arrived and they were the only people we saw all afternoon.
This was a lovely wee spot, the cache was lying out in the open and the container was full of water. The logbook is absolutely saturated, I did manage to put our name in it but decided to leave a new piece of write in the rain paper. The cache is now tucked under the hint item and hopefully will stay there until the next finder turns up.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

We saw goats on the walk here
Cache was found but the log was too wet to sign.
What a nice area!

Nice place to hide a cache. Logbook soaking wet. Still managed to write our name with special pencil.
Had to have a good hunt for this one! It was rather soggy when I finally located. Notebook was still sign-able although it's soaked through. Sorry, I didn't have any spares with me to replace it with so left it as is, could possibly do with a visit though.
TFTC! A friend took me walking, and I took her caching!

Nine days to do some caching for the price of four leave days - who could complain about that! I found a quirky place to stay near Motueka, and decided to base myself there to cache in the wider area. I had a few on my hit list, and ended up finding a great variety of different caches on the trip.
Day seven - the weather was promised to be a bit less stable compared to the previous days, so I picked a shorter walk just in case. Except for a few occasions of spitting, I remained dry!

I must've looked in every wrong place first, while one of the easier hint spots proved successful. A great spot to cool down. Log quite wet - just signable.
Thanks very much!

For too long we have wanted to walk this track but there has always been something to stop us getting our ducks in a row. Today we had no such problems so off we go.
This was a surprise and relief to get to this spot in such a landscape so we were in no hurry to leave it although that wasn't the excuse for taking a while to find the cache. I had already looked where hazedarus eventually found it, my excuse has to be the extra winter cover it was wearing. The log book is wet but we managed to sign our names.
Thank you bumandworker.

The Takaka Hill Walk has been on our to-do list for so long that in the end it was added to our bucket list We checked the weather for yesterday and it was awful but for today it was forecast a beauty and it was. After a bush walk and a rather challenging off track find we were happy to get into a rhythm. GZ proved a little oasis indeed. As we found earlier it was a bit harder to wake the cache from its winter sleep. All good though and returned as found. Thank you bumandworker
One of the geocaches that we did during a trip to New Zealand as part of our Lions Tour Holiday. TFTC.
Was using the phone to find this one and just as the chime went to say I was near, the phone started ringing. Lovely clear reception in this area. Found quickly but container was full of water. Emptied it out and dried everything. Log book damp but usable.
nice shade spot very cold out of the sun though, lots of hiding places to look, luckly know one else around
Was a nice break on the way up - enjoyable shade in a pretty spot - Stretch0 soon had cache in hand signed log and went to leave when Stretch0 ducked back as found he was minus his sunglasses when we were out in the sun again Thanks for the cache
The track seemed easier today than previous time but with the sun beating down on us it was great to get in the shade and find his one, Was a quick fine ad we were a little reluctant to leave the shade but there was still more ground to cover so it onwards we went, TFTC
Found it on our way up to the top. There are Powelliphanta snails here as well so be careful where you place your feet. TFTC
Found this Cache on the way to the Tataka Hill Summit. Thanks.

I think last time we were here a group of muggles were resting at GZ. Couldn't blame them it was so hot. Not today. Snow on the peaks and they feel awfully close. NINO TFTC
Today is Go-Find-A-Souvenir day! But rather than head to either of the available earth caches in Blenheim, TaybeeDragon and I decided to to visit the great green fields of Nelson and Takaka and turn a small patch of it yellow.
Earth cache done, and we are continuing the walk around the the loop, plotting it as I go. On our way back to the car now, with a quick stop here for a quickie. (now, now, guys!)

Its Souvenir Hunt Earth Cache Day- Road trip to Takaka via St Arnaud! Hey What! Lets Go.
Collected the info for the earth cache and continue the walkway.
This is an amazing walkway with lots of different terrain and special features. Cheers

We have been on a road trip trough New Zealand for 25 days. We went for a walk on the Takaka Hill Walkway. Of course we looked for some geocaches. This has been one of them.
Thanks for the cache

This spot did indeed prove to be an oasis of coolness and shade on a blisteringly hot day. I tucked into my lunch, and dawdled for a while, but no birdsong today. Thanks for placing this cache.
I was working in Riwaka this morning and had planned on completing some tidal caches round Marahau and beyond however the tides were less than favourable so another visit to this walkway became Plan B. A great choice to on such a lovely afternoon. Thought I saw something but no it was solid and attached but very luckily I spied a bit of that familiar blue as I retreated. Also saw the Tomo Marchwood must've been referring to but decided you wouldn't place it too close to there otherwise you might have to come to my rescue. Very lucky find. TFTC #7502
On our way to the Bay for the weekend.
We found time in the misty drizzle to go for a walk and clean up this park once again.
Worked our way out of the bush and onto the tops. Wondered where a "flat" bit would finally eventuate and there it was as advertised.
Searched for a short while avoiding a big Tomo and finally made the find.

We had walked the other half of the loop track last year, but decided to leave this section for another visit. Today was a lovely day for a walk to pick up the remainder of the caches in the area.
StreetWalker took the opportunity of a stop to slip into something more comfortable - he had started out wearing track pants but with the day warming up, he changed into shorts. By the time he had finished, I had found the cache. Been a while between visits, and tipped a little water out of the container. Luckily the bag had been resealed by the previous finder and the log book was just a little damp, but still easily signable. Also rescued a TB which hadn't been logged into the cache.
No sign of the goats today, but further on, where the track overlooks Takaka valley, it smelt as though they were nearby! TFTC.

#9275. When we left the car park it was empty. From the previous cache I saw a some other cars arrived, and it sounded like a party of muggles was catching up with us. They were far enough behind that we completed logging and got under way before they hove into view. TFTC.
Cache in good condition excellent day out mid winter with clear sky and no one around. Could you ask for more?
Bei unserm Neuseeland Urlaub auch hier vorbei gekommen... Gesucht und gefunden! Tolle Gegend hier...!!!
Danke fürs verstecken und herführen!

Had a lovely walk to the top of the hill to see the view, and enjoyed a five-minute rest in this oasis among the rocks. While we were there we spotted this (protected) carnivorous snail. TFTC
Found on a day's exploration around the region, letting the geocaches lead me to all the interesting places. I went for a walk up this track to find a few of the caches on the way back to Nelson in the afternoon. Found quickly - signed log, TFTC
The Cretan Runners took a walk around Takaka Hill and picked up some caches as we went. We really enjoyed the walk and the diverse landscape and terrain in this area. Thanks to the cache owners who have placed these caches for us to enjoy. This one was the first of the day. It's a steep climb out of the car park and it was a warm day but we found this one quickly. TFTC.
Out doing the loop walk with Kiwi Grandad today. Glad the coordinates for this one were right as there was a big tomo not too far away. Impressive array and a good walk. Thanks bumandworker for placing this cache.
What a lovely little copse. From the stumps and dead wood in some places, I assume there was much more of it around here in the past. Great to have a couple of reasons for repeating this walk. TFTC.
This was a welcome patch of shade on a very hot afternoon. No goats around today. #698 TFTC
What an awesome spot. Sneaked right up on a big billy then right up on nanny and kid at GZ. Thanks.
These were probly the reason I came up the hill today. Needing to get plenty of caches this month for my masters I couldnt let bad weather get in the way. Got to cache site without trouble even if the weather was trying to slow me down. Heard goats bleting to each other. Didnt see them till heading to the next cache =)
FTF Carpark was empty at the start of the walkway so after one FTF already this morning I was feeling pretty good about this one. Feeling a bit unfit though as I haven't managed many walks recently. There were about 3 goats in the clearing just past the cache when I approached but they quickly ran off. A short search revealed the cache. I heard 'something' approaching and I first thought 'more goats' but as I was signing the log, Mr Magpiy came into view with a hearty 'hello Biggles'. TFTC, Biggles.
Carpark empty when we arrived as well so the 2 previous loggers had already been and gone. A familiar track, but one we are always happy to walk and a cache is a nice bonus. The last 2 trips to this area we ended up wet...cloudy but we stayed dry today. And SoBad found the cache while Mrs followed the GPS doing a circuit of GZ. Picked up the trackable as well. Thanks.
