On holiday with my sisters and in need of a multi so this was a nice side trip to make on our way to Clyde. No trouble with any waypoints though we did need to scrape the ice off the sign to get the required information. Didn't actually need to follow the note in the hint to access the cache so was relieved not to get grubby! Many thanks for creating a multi in this interesting area, Guzzi Riders! And no wasps. Phew! #10424
We gathered the necessary numbers from the two interesting locations, then off to the final very close by. The hint was a bit ominous, but wasn't strictly necessary, as we spotted the cache quickly. However, as others have said, there is small (paper?) wasp nest about a metre from the cache. However we managed to retrieve and replace the cache safely. TFTC
#7352Today is our last full day in NZ for this trip, so we decided to head up into the clouds up to the Remarkables, then head out to the Cromwell area. Had an awesome day doing some roadsides, along with a few walks as well!A nice quick multi and a quick find at GZ, a fair few wasps under the structure but we got out before they spotted us! TNLN SLTFTC
#7352Day 7 of our NZ trip, we have a spare day starting up the Remarkables, then chasing cool caches around Cromwell Its been a great day! That was a fun little multi. Watch out for wasps at GZTFTC!!
Thanks Guzzi Riders for the cache. Its #1802 for us. We found your cache onTuesday 14 November 2023. Well thats some magnet! Finally found after a bit of crawling around. CO should check logs vs e-logs as the logbook is very bare and doesnt match what people say they are doing
Coordinates all sorted & then started searching…. very cold today and not keen on following the hint but made the find after a few minutes TFTC
We enjoyed a visit to this old gold mining area a few years back. Forgotten most of it, so it was nice to have a reason to return. We enjoyed the multi, once we'd got to grips with it. We soon found the cache, but had to be very careful retrieving it as there was a small & very active wasp nest a bit close for comfort. Thanks for placing this multi & have a favourite point for the work of setting it up.
Found it!
Took about 15 mins to complete in the horrible heat today! It’s been mostly cold for the last couple of weeks since we’ve been in Otago and then hit 30 degrees today Boiling!!
Quick to find once coordinates had been solved l, didn’t have to lay down to grab it thankfully

A trip back up to my old stomping ground and how I miss this area.
I love the harsh ruged landscape and a time when hard work was just a way to survive and the odd lucky person made it rich .
Would love to have seen te bucks work as all the historic mining equipment interests me and how they made it with out a computer and fancy cnc machines
Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!

Out on a trip down memory lane for DSI and a first time visit for AnnieLin. We had a lot of fun and laughter and slips along with learning more about our local area history. Great day had by all Had to pluck a few biddy bids from tops

After a big roadie up north was a bit weary so stayed at the DOC lindis pass historic hotel..a pleasant spot overnight. Took off this morning and detoured to this. A previous visit I couldn't find. Got it today, just a slight adjustment of where to look. Loved the sturdy container and good hide tftc
Out with grandaughter, Redco5, for a nice walk to Hooker Lake and nearby kocations.
I looked for this one ages ago but did it this time.
Cheers for the cache.

Mr P and I went into the pouring wet to gather the info and managed to find the final in the downpour. T4tc (FP)
In Cromwell for Christmas and since I have been wanting to come here for a long time Gadget169 said right let's go for a wee drive and a geo adventure. Very cool place to visit TFTC
Found with Hevic on a long weekend trip through Central and Northern Otago. I will admit to using geosenses on this one rather than solving the waypoints (and we got it fairly quickly), but we were quite hungry and were more focused on food. Still, a find is a find and we learned a lot about the area in the process. We were both impressed at the container. Cheers!
Almost didn't find this one. Thought I had miscalculated. Figured it wasn't where my coordinates said because it would make more sense to be where I actually found it. Got a bit dirty and scratched up, though.
Quick found after finishing my job nearby. Maybe I should visit eye doctor - I cannot find dark green tag for a long time.
Gathered all the info & got to GZ. Relieved to spot it fairly quickly. Enjoyed this multi. TFTC
Did some counting and than spotted the cache quickly. Nice place.
After getting back in my car, I was suddenly surrounded by sheep.

Located this one during a cache raid of the Mainland. We initially mucked up the calculations but we finally obtained some numbers that looked ok and soon after we had the cache in hand. Thanks for sharing the local history TFTC.
Interesting pieces of heritage and soon had the cache in hand. Hands and knees rather than lying on the back. TFTC
Easy spot but harder to get. Started my career working with gold. Should have a good day around here.
Found with StreetWalker on day #4 of our extended Easter break. Today we are travelling from Clyde to Cromwell then onto the old gold fields of Logantown, then back to Clyde.
Really interesting info boards and we had a walk on the dredge, where there was another board. Once a wee hiccup was rectified, where a number was added instead of subtracted, we got some much better looking co-ords for the next stage . Final quickly calculated and SW made the find. All in all an enjoyable multi. TFTC.

#1217 - Forth cache of the day today on a caching outing. Not sure why I struggled so much with this cache as it seems like others found it so easily.
Did not understand any of the digits on the tag instructions however I managed to guess where Waypoint 2 was.
Once again knowing the East coordinates of GZ I was able to deduce where GZ was and find the cache without finding F and G.
Tftc, some great history.

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
We decided we would head to Cromwell to see an old friend, so once we did that we came here to do a bit of exploring.
Love the snippets of history here. Two for the price of one.
The cache was a quick find, signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Great day out in central Otago caching, many thanks to all the caches owner's. - Bitsprayer
11.40: On the way from Wanaka to Naseby. Although a lot numbers have to be collected we were able to complete this little multi cache in short time. Only the getting of the box took a moment and required at least a little artistic effort[xx(]. Anyway, a very recommendable cache when you want to know a few sketches of Bendigo's history. The explanations to the bucket ladder are very interesting, too.
Weather: overcast, a few drops of drizzle inbetween, 15°C;
Wheelchair: in general no problem, help for access required, of course;
State: all good, dry.
IN & OUT: nothing.

I spent ages lying round trying to find this one. Gave it more the once over before giving up and poked my head up and there it magically was. I obviously made it a lot more difficult than necessary! I was so relieved because it was such an interesting place. Thanks for bringing me here Guzzi Riders. TFTC # 12,537
Came down to Alexandra for a wee Easter family holiday. After a fantastic busy few days we're now heading for Fairlie to spend the night (via Bendigo) before home to Christchurch.
What cool history. Thanks. Loved it. Took a bit of a search to find the final. Whilst searching we noticed a couple over at WP2...didnt think much of it (just through that they were reading the info)...on eventually making the find and sign we headed back to the car.....and the couple called out "cachers"...ha ha ha...coolies. Thanks for the multi and a cool bit of history....

Am having a tidy up of local caches and had not logged this one but kind of remembered doing it. Re-visited today on the way to Thomsons gorge and lo and behold I had written in the book on 17 April 2016.

The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size.
Have nne up in Bendigo before to collect the virtual but this time I had a little more time so could work on the couple I left behind last time. Still an amazing place to visit and I know that both HKCB & iammrwalker were duely impressed with the location also

Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 3: With time now a bit against us for what we originally had planned for the West Coast a decision was made to catch up a bit of time and bee line it down the coast from Greymouth to Jackson's Bay. This meant a 6 1/2 drive through the night as we rotated drivers every hour or so while the other two got some sleep. This plan worked great as it set us up for another great day of caching. Today's mission involved caching from Jackson's Bay through to Cromwell and then up to Aoraki (Mt Cook). Today also made us appreciate the stunning beauty of the South Island.
Time to get some numbers around Cromwell! Headed up this road to visit the Virtual but couldn't pass by a multi, thou we made a bit of a hash of it and made it take way longer than it should off.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.
We did our sums and headed to GZ, it took us a while to find the cache which C&D found in a spot some what embarrassingly I had already searched without success.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you Guzzi Ridersfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

After 6 days, I'm beginning to feel quite comfortable in New Zealand. There is so much to remind me of home - mountains, glaciers, and the seashore. It's getting close to the end of a three month adventure, mostly away from home. micaparamedic arrived at my place in Washington State toward the end of July and we immediately headed down to Oregon to find some old caches for his Jasmer challenge. From there we headed up north to The Yukon and Northwest Territories in Canada for a few weeks.
We attended the mega APE event in Washington, and the same day headed down to camp on a farm in Oregon where we were directly in the path of a total solar eclipse. Back at my place, we took a few day trips before heading to Australia where we spend almost a month doing many things on my bucket list including walking around Uluru and seeing the Sydney Harbour. Now we're spending a few weeks in New Zealand before once again going our separate ways. What a trip!
We stopped here for two reasons - first to get a multi-cache in New Zealand, and second because micaparamedic is from Bendigo, Australia. It was interesting to learn about the connections between the two locations.
Thanks for getting us started on finding all the local caches.

Had so much fun with this little multi. Stopped at the old bakery did my maths and I was wrong but good that I had a good idea where the second way point was. At the second WP took me a while to find the missing pieces but in the end I had the cache in the hand. So happy.
After a semester abroad in New Zealand, I travel around the country with MMXX now. There are plenty of amazing spots to discover.
Thanks for placing a geocache here and sorry that I keep my logs short.

I always enjoy a multi cache. James Lawrence who built the bakery was my Nana's grandfather who also built bakeries in other local mining areas. I was also part of the polytechnic group that stabilised the ruins back in 2009. I wonder if (at the time of building) he would think other generations would visit that spot. So I took a photo of his great, great grand daughter and his even greater grandson & daughter.
Awesome multi cache. Been here a few times but never stopped to look at the bake house. Awesome use of VAMS tags
Interesting buildings at the location around the cache.

Greetings from Canada. What an awesome area to visit. We came for the virtual up the hill and stopped for this one in the way back. No problem finding the cache using the hint. My only complaint are the prickly wild rose bushes and rabbit poop at gz
Great cache thanks. So much history around here and a great afternoon on a curcuit of geocaches.
Met other geocaches we went on to play some cat and mouse with. Enjoy geocaching!

Went to check cache as there had been some dnf. Cache all good and still where it should be. Dropped off Travel GPS tracking tag.
Looked and looked for this cache for a second time with vz1pp, only thing found was a packet of silica crystals that may have been in the cache.
Well have an opp on my shoulder about 4 weeks ago and still got about 4 weeks to go before I'm back at work so I thought I would come visit some friends in Cromwell for a few days so was a great opportunity to get a few caches. This was a one to do had me a bit lost a one point but I got it sorted. There are a few more find close by but will come back for them another time. TFTC ☺
Good multi and an easy find. Really enjoyed reading all the boards in a great place which has been developed somewhat since last time we were here.
Last time I was in the area years ago and always wanted to come back and explore, so Granville86a and I included this in our weekend geocaching trip, a little bit of figuring out and cache was in hand, TFTC!!
Found with Chosen1978. Our first find before heading up over the bendigo. Got all the answers and cache soon located. great spot.
We really enjoyed this one even if we got a bit confused getting to the final but once there and the clue really helped TFTC and have a fav point
A nice little multi this where we were a bit confused with the clues but spotted the final and the clue helped us find the cache TFTC
Nutted out co-ordinates, finally found it. Thanks for the chance to come up here.
Found with help from mr&mrs Pipedream.always imteresting to see goldfield caches.Tftc.
Travelling on New Zealand's roads, Geocaches like this one are always a good reason to leave our camper, walk for a bit and get some air. For this reason, we have really enjoyed looking for heaps of interesting Caches, sometimes in places that we wouldn't have found by ourselves. On our way we've met lots of friendly and welcoming people and the landscapes were breathtaking
If we then find the Geocache, like this one, that makes our awesome holiday here even better.
We would like to thank all owners of the Geocaches we found for their effort and for showing us those interesting spots.

PS: This one gets a favourite point, due to the fact that it is not a Multi and we learned something.

We started off at the second waypoint, found the info and then it was time to get dusty... really only a couple of places it could be, and Mr D picked up a dropped pencil so it is here, but these old eyes find it hard to see black things. Okay, a pretty large and obvious black thing too. Then we played on the dredge ladder and checked out the bakery. A worthwhile stop, thank you!

Did the calculations and eventually found ourselves in a likely spot for a cache. After a bit of gymnastics the cache was in hand.
Thanks for making us stop and really look around. Gathered the info, then off to lie around looking for the final. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Gathered the info from the first waypoint quickly then onto the second waypoint, although we spotted the likely hiding place we still took the time to read the info and work the co-ords out (debsnz made a basic error and would have had us 500m away!). I soon spotted her error and got the correct co-ords - although these had us nearer the other end to where we actually found it. Thanks for all the work in placing this multi - it made us stop and take notice of something we probably would have driven past . Found with debsnz
Was riding past on the motorcycle and checked to see that the cache was all good.
Driven past here a number of time great to read about the dredges toils in the area. TFTC
