We don't usually do guard rail caches but we had a strong urge not to ride by today... Fabulous day on the Rimutaka Rail Trail today. Cache is all good. TFTC
I had spent a bit of time around here trying to find just where Kaitoke railway station was, and got nowhere. I knew it was close and I was wondering if I could ask the CO to archive this cache so I could put Lost Stations of the Hutt: Kaitoke here.
However today Barefootguru, TwigNZ and I went for a walk along the railline, principally to get a multicache along there. That done, we were heading out, and I asked if we could explore down Station Road, usually a giveaway as to where the station was. Well, I found it. The station master's house still stands although it has been heavily modified and doesn't look much like its origins anymore. The station building itself is gone and replaced with a much more modern house. But the main thing is it looks like I can squeeze the railway station cache in without too much trouble, without needing to ask the CO to archive this cache. Yay! And one land owner happy for people to come here, but I do still need to come back to talk to the other owners.
So many thanks for the cache, and the reminder to check out the nearby road.

super quick find and a nice location to start a trail of a few more caches ️ thank you !
Tftc, nice diversion along the old highway, spent a lot of time here while building the new one.
Quick stop while in the area. With all the resident spiders it was a different form of searching the web
One of just three caches I located this morning on returning over the hill from Greytown to home on the Kāpiti Coast. The rain was rather continuous and not really conducive for caching! Pleased that this was a quick find because the rain was really quite heavy at this stage. #5258. TFTC.
A quick check while passing this afternoon. Certainly wasn’t where it was supposed to be. Left a replacement.
Part 2, Day 9. Part 2 is meeting my husband at Wellington and going on a car trip around the lower North Island. We stayed at Greytown last night, will head to Wellington and fly back home to Christchurch this evening. I will be looking for your caches and a few others. Thank you boxhill for this cache.
Part 1 was a girls trip with graciesgpsfun, Ethness, Jude_E and me.
======== NZ Mega 2021 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2021 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, October 2021.

In Petone for a ten pin bowling tournament, park and grab after doing a adventure lab and some caches in Rivendell area. Thanks boxhill for the cache.
With the prospect of a nice long weekend available, I decided to spend a day or two over in the Wairarapa chasing archived Skindo puzzle caches and any other caches I would be passing right by including this one.
It is rare these days for me to head over the Rimutaka Hill, so I thought it would be a great chance for me to stop and try to get the few easy access caches on this trip. There was no-one else about on this road so I was able to park up and grab this cache without any issues at all. Everything is fine with the log etc which was signed before replacing everything exactly as found and heading back to the car.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, and Happy New Year to you.

Well hidden, found by Mrs RedEcho whilst I was looking on the other side of the road! TFTC.
Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, boxhill, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

NLBokkie and I are going on holiday to New Zealand for 3 weeks. In Auckland we rent a camper. We start on the North island and driving to the south to make the crossing to the South island. Here we make a round and then take the boat back to the North Island. A long trip, but a very beautiful one! We do and see a lot on our way.........…
In addition to being a tourist, we are also going to cache along the way. The virtuals and earth caches are often on tourism places. If we have a long day of traveling, we stop for some caches.
It were great weeks!

# 1607 A quick park and grab with the family. All nice and dry inside due to nice cosy nature of the hide. Cheers boxhill for another easy park and grab to keep my streak alive.... only 91 days to go... phew...
8016. A quick park and grab on the way from Carterton to Wellington. Thanks. Rodney and Iris.
Can you please stop stopping on my property this is private property and I'm sick of people walking around it thanks
WENZ is New Zealand's 5th Mega Event ever and for months I have been anticipating in attending it. It is the first Mega Event that I have ever attended and sadly I could only come for one day, so early on Saturday morning my father and I got in the car and drove our way towards Upper Hutt for a hectic day of geocaching. In the end it was a spectacular day where we managed to found 67 geocaches somehow throughout the whole day, see a lot of new faces, catch up with friends and just have an altogether amazing time.
We had just been to the Trentham Park CITO and were now slowly making our way towards the Kaitoke Driveby Event and were picking up a few geocaches along the way, this was one of the ones we manged to quickly pick up.
My father stopped the car a little out from the GZ since there didn't seem to be any spaces to park too close-by and I walked my way down closer to the geocache. The hunt didn't take too long since the geocache was pretty easy to find and so soon I had the logbook in my hands and signed. TFTC, great little geocache to find while driving past!

Out on a MEGA day pass attempting to find enough caches to make the MEGA Event my 12k find.
Having briefly attended the nearby Kaitoke event and had a chin wag it was time to find a few more hides.
Second to last cache for the day. The Flash Mob Event will be my last.
A quick find and sign here.

Up for the Mega for the week, had a great day in the Upper Hunt area and a quick trip over the hill,. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
We decided we would travel to WENZMEGA via the Wairarapa and return via the Akatarawas, caching along the way, but in a reasonably leisurely, pick and choose kind of way.
We had a beautiful day for our southward travels through the Wairarapa and over the Rimutakas.
Travelling was fairly easy until we began the ascent of the Rimutakas and found ourselves joining a continuous queue of vehicles travelling in both directions for the whole of the crossing. Turns out an accident earlier had caused delays and the consequent backlog of traffic took a while to sort out. We curtailed plans for any caches that would have necessitated trying to cross the traffic.
It was good to leave the busy road for a short time and travel to this cache along the quiet old highway.
All was good here - no problems. TFTC

Oops, I somehow looked straight past this one and left it for someone else to find. - - Had I taken a moment to read the description I wouldn't have made that mistake, but then you have to share the finds around eh ! TFTC .
We are very grateful for that urge. We alkso had an itch that was still requiring scratching so in the end it all came together quite well. TFTC # 12,834
Day two of my mini break, or extended drive to Wellington to attend a full day meeting on Monday. Woke up in my cute cottage accommodation bright and early and after a bit of breakfast, and a plot of a plan, I was back on the road. Today's weather was not quite a forthcoming as yesterday's springlike goodness, but more of a mixed bag - dodging showers, howling gales, getting soaked and then driving around the corner to find that another section had had no rain at all. New Zealand weather - got to love it! No special wildlife to mention either.
Heading over the hill to Wellington now - weather is atrocious but I've got good wet weather gear and there's time for a couple more caches. Another quick find here. TFTC

Log is full but there's a little room for a few more names around the edges of the sheet
The Loop Road is much quieter than in the days when SH2 went through here All those corners, no places to pass, Sunday evening frustration! Happy memories TFTC
A quick trip up the incline track today placing out some promotional cards for the WENZ 2018 event. Check out the details on the [WENZ Webstite](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/).
A quick find and all in good condition - TFTC.

Quick find after riding the Rimutaka incline, hadn't ridden the trail for 15 years so really interesting to see the changes and first weekend in many where the Stumpies got out on the trails. TFTC all in good order.
