Accio 11:52:59Cache is very accessible still. Best approach is to exit the exit and walk along the road and just take a seat to watch the world going past. I have certainly been to less safe places (but I guess I'm no child anymore - despite what T4mmmy says sometimes).There are a million Hobbit quotes that are suitable for cachers - my favourite is probably Bilbo's : " *It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door. You step into the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.* " ... so apt for an aged, fat and unhappy middle aged man swept off his feet a bit over a decade ago with the promise of " * **Going on an adventure!** * " - and now I would say I am younger, fitter, healthier and oh so much happier.And as for the experience that can be had here (at a cost) - as a fan, a BIIIIIIIG fan - simply stunned. Took literally a thousand photos, and days later am still dreaming of and reliving what I saw and felt being there immersed in one vision of what it looked like and was. (I love both the books (all of them, even the obscure ones) and all the films, even the cartoon one - sue me). We were told it was too dangerous to go out on the road. Luckily we’re not the average tourist.

Visiting from Ohio, USA and came out this way for the Hobbiton tour. Despite the rain I had a great time. This hobbit geocache was icing on the cake. +FP

This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we visited Hobbiton and after this we were searching for the Multi **There And Back Again**

Thank to the Hints and the good coordinates the little box was found quickly!
After signing the logbook there is a new smile on our geocaching map!

Catching up on Drafts from my trip abroad!Before heading to Victoria, Australia, for a Mega-Event, I was able to spend some time on New Zealand's North Island. I stayed in Auckland, and on my last day, I decided to get outside of the metro area and explore some of the countryside.As a huge Hobbit & Lord of the Rings fan, checking out Hobbiton was at the top of my list of things to do. Knowing that this cache was just recently featured as Geocache of the Week made the trip all the more enticing!Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Both the cache and the experience overall lived up to my high expectations. This was a memory I will never forget! Thanks so much to the CO, steveshunting, for helping make it all possible. What a wonderful day! The LOTR tour was amazing! And then a cache. Visiting from Canada.

Today we drove from Auckland to Rotorua, but we are big fans of Peter Jackson and Tolkien books, so we stopped at Hobbitin. for me, it was a meaningful 2-hour tour including the trip. It is very well organized. The guide was great, but I didn't understand much of her English, she tied it all up with dramatic movements...Thanks for kes, greetings from the Czech Republic from Bilovec. Cache is ok and we are happy to add FP.
Dnes jsme jeli cestou z Aucklandu do Rotoruy, samo že jsme velkými fandy Petra Jacksona a knih od Tolkiena a tak jsme se zastavili v Hobitine. za mne to byly smysluplné 2 hodiny prohlidky i s cestou.Je to hodně dobře zorganizovane. Průvodkyně byla skvělá , její angličtině jsem však moc nerozuměl, vše to vyvazila dramatickými pohyby...Diky za kes zdravíme z České republiky z Bilovca. Keš je ok a rádi přidáme FP.

On holiday in the North Island and a visit to Hobbiton was a must. This place is sooo busy, but everything was super well organised and the actual tour of the movie set was fantastic. However, getting this cache is a little more tricky. There are many signs saying that you can't walk out of the entrance way and we were really worried someone was going to stop us. But with a bus parked in front of the staff, and our heads down, we just heading out and made our way to GZ. We were very happy to soon find the cache so it was a quick scribble of our names and then back to the cafe and then off on our tour. Gets a fav point for the location

spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my ?? The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. On holiday in New Zealand for 5 weeks with my husband (fahola) and our 3 boys.

It was a great experience for the whole family to visit Hobbiton. We have seen all the movies. Perfectly finished with a mug of "mead" at The Green Dragon.

Goodness it certainly is a long time since I was captivated by reading "The Hobbit!"

Anyway I had heard there are now two caches here relating to Hobbiton so I thought I would drive by.

Have never been here before...and didn't do the tour ...but I was astonished by the volume of people visiting...and all the buses ..and the shop and café.

It wasn't very easy to park and hunt on such a busy day.
But I was determined , and managed a fairly quick find just where one would expect.

we finally had a bit more luck with the weather and I'm happy that I was able to look for this suitable cache in this extremely beautiful place.

the only problem is the Hobbiton staff making sure you don't walk in that one direction. You have to come up with something!

Being enormous LOTR fans (we rewatch the movies every Christmas), coming here was an absolute Must Do on our trip to New Zealand. We made the quick find of the adorably hidden cache, traded trackables and headed off to visit The Green Dragon for a proper pint. TFTC!

Really sweet cache, but the staff really didn’t want us going out to look for it, given the bus traffic. Luckily, we were there at the end of the day which made it easier.

Took a while but we were determined to find this one. Thule Guy and I had a great day at Hobbiton and wanted to be able to log this. Loved the hide and it took a little help from a local but we did it! TFTC

Found with trayc.g on day 6 of our family holiday. Today is the day we head to The Shires Rest for a tour of Hobbiton. Can’t wait!

Yay we have finally made it to Hobbbiton! Of course this cache was top of our list today and after being told off by the tour guide for walking near the buses we made our way over to GZ. Took me a little bit to discover this cute hide but only because I hadn’t gone far enough up the road. Lots of TB’s in here but only discovered them here today as I’ve found lots on my travels this week which is really good to see as sometimes I can go on a trip and not even find one! TFTC FP

So my daughter has finished high school, done the graduation and all. She did not want to go to schoolies, so we decided to spend a week in New Zealand.
Cache 7 for the trip.
So having said a little prayer for fine weather at Hobbiton, the good lord delivered. two and a half hours of fine weather (may get a sunburn today).
This was the key reason I came to New Zealand. I had never been to Hobbiton before and am a huge Tolkien fan.
Did the tour, tour included lunch, and then need to grab this cache to make it a perfect day.
Okay, parked the car not far from GZ and went for a walk.
Found what I was looking for. Grabbed this one as the rain re-started. So a little wet when back in the car. Cache is in good order though.

A long way there and when we've toured a bit more of Hobbiton and NZ a long way back again to Bath in the UK.
Allowed out of the carpark but only because it was hammering down with rain. Found the lovely hide and dropped in 4 TB's all brought from the UK.

Apologies to the CO.I found this cache a while ago but stopped caching for a while due to the pandemic, and this find was left as a draft on my app.TFTC

It was so hot and the grass overgrown so I didn't persist. The staff at Hobbiton/Shire's Rest would not let me go and look for it while I was waiting for my tour due to the heavy traffic flow and poor road visibility there. Fair enough, good professionalism there.

So cool. Have been to quite a few of the movie locations about the county.

Was initially confused as thought this was a multi cache - didn't help that reception is very patchy. Got to gz and luckily no one was going past, took a little bit before finding. Awesome themed cache, thank you!

It was literally a case of "there and back again" with this one as we had a quick but unsuccessful look before doing the Hobbit Tour and returned afterwards for a better look.
It was a quick find the second time when our GPS settled down and we realised we hadn't gone quite far enough up the road.

Went to Matamata with NZPatoto to look at motorhomes and decided to grab a couple of caches on the way home. Found by NZPatoto. 3rd for the day. Thanks for the cache.

I was in Matamata today with Nahkins. We decided to this cache on way home. Had coffee and slice at the Shire Cafe and then went for a walk admiring the view. I came across this one quite easily. With no tourist wasn't many muggles about. The view is spectacular. TFTC.

I can see why this cache has so many FPs, nice design and at an interesting and (sometimes) busy place. Parked in the main car park and headed to GZ and soon added my name. Then back to the car to grab the 5 trackables I have with me and dropped them in for future travels - so it was There and back again for me.

We're off on a mini-break to the Bay of Plenty, specifically Rotorua and a visit that we had to cancel due to the last Auckland lock-down trapping us in the region. Away Friday morning and a weekend in 'Vegas' before heading back home on Monday. Nothing massive caching-wise, a few PWGTs, some Virtuals and a couple for solved puzzles was on the list and that was about it for finds really. As they say, quality over quantity (sometimes). The weather played ball and was generally good and it was good to be back in Sulphur-town after about 6 years since last visit. Thanks to all COs for their contributions.
