Headed out for a morning hike yesterday. Started at Mahers rd and headed along the rail trail for about 5km until I headed up Mahers Hill for a workout in the heat. Lucky there was cloud cover. Amazing views from the top and then back down the hill to complete the circuit. Covered about 15km in total. Loved it. TFTC

22-Jan-18
At larst its a little cooler and with the cloud cover it made for a great day to be out and about so what better way to do it than another boarder crossing with a multi and mystery to add to the growing collection of smilies. This was #10 of 18 finds consisting of 1 Multi, 1 Mystery and 16 Traditionals.

Thanks The Trail Crew for putting this cache in place and maintaing it for us to find today.

Grand Cache count = 751 total consisting of 711 Traditionals, 22 Multi, 9 Mystery, 4 Earth, 2 Virtual and 3 Event.

So a plan was hatched and a weekend caching on the HCRT was organised by StrangeTrousers in attendance were – StrangeTrousers, LuckyL10n, Geosnag1 and myself all on your trusty dirt bikes for the first day. It was a beautiful day to be out on the trail. Start point was “North Bandy” and we finished up with a stunning sunset at “all Aboard”. What a brilliant way to spend a long weekend on our bikes caching with some of most beautiful water views I have seen in quite a while. Loved the caches and containers that kept us guessing throughout the day. Off to bed to get up and continue the adventure.

All logs signed as “LSGC” being LuckyL10n, StrangeTrousers, Geosnag1 and CBRChic.

#7387 - 16:02; A plan was hatched a few weeks back with StrangeTrousers and CBRCHIC to tackle the High Country Rail Trail (HCRT) from Wodonga to Tallangatta this weekend. They had gone ahead last night with Geosnag1 to do a park run this morning while I took a leisurely trip caching my way along the Barton Highway and on down the Hume to Albury this morning to join them. After a bite to eat in Albury, we made it south of the border to Wodonga and the HCRT this afternoon. After dropping the geomobile at our estimated finishing spot near All Aboard in readiness, it was back to North Bandy and the bikes. It was a fun ride along the trail where we enjoyed some idyllic country scenery in the early stages, some old abandoned railway platforms and finally some lake views as we headed east. Apologies for the largely generic logs. We found all of the caches we were after today, often resorting to the cache name for guidance when we got a little stuck. Most were in good condition, although some had seen better days. TFTC The Trail Crew Smile

#3091 18 of 36 today.

Out with CBRChic, LuckyL10n & Geosnag1. We've been planning this trip for a while and finally we've got it together and hit the trail. Today was a fantastic day's caching out along the HCRT starting at "North Bandy" and finishing up just after sunset at "All Aboard". The scenery was amazing, particularly out along the Hume dam with the sun slowly setting behind us. CC took some pictures that I'm sure she will include in her logs. I particularly enjoyed the remaining little station platforms on the way. I had my doubts we could find all the caches planned before it got dark, but we did comfortably in the end. No DNFs (yay). We came close once, but I had my eye in today. I hope it's still working tomorrow,

What a great series. We spotted the series and that resulted in us driving from the southern highlands down across the border for 3 days of caching. With two young geokids we had to split up the series and manage what we could each day in hot weather. The occasional dip in the lake to cool off then off again.

We managed to find almost every one and the titles were often very helpful. TFTS.

Like many others writing a generic log is not great but to be honest we have hit that many caches it is tricky to remember every individual one!

Back to logging a few more of these after a couple of days break.
Covering the HCRT over 2 days on our trip from Canberra to Albury we had a wonderful time riding around the lake. There are spectacular views all the way and the lake was so full after a wet spring.
A few DNFs over the course of the trip, and some tired caches, but all in all a really wonderful adventure and some beautiful birdlife and animals along the way.

Thanks The Trail Crew for placing this series.

#1776 This cache was a soon found on this very rainy day, and looks like it ain't stopping soon. Area was a little slippery.

I came from Canberra to spend 2 days caching along this High Country Rail Trail by push bike. It was a great experience. Loved the old train stations, views of Lake Hume, the variety and styles of caches, overflowing rivers and floodplains and wonderful rolling green hillsides. I found a total of 89 caches.

A long weekend and another trip with the geo 'rents and geobro'. What a cool way to spend Easter Cool
Headed for Albury for 2 nights and then Bendigo for 1 night and we took each day as the caches came. A turn here, a turn there, a dirt track here and there and miles and miles of bitumen [^]
LOL, I've just seen one of geobro's cache logs and it reads very much like mine SurprisedWink
Although he forgot to mention that he not so kindly shared his viral germs with geomum and I! [xx(]
Today (day 2) I found 76 caches Smile and had 4 DNFs Sad

We did note that it was a shame that so many of the log books were either full or in a sad state.
I'm sorry but I didn't have spare logs with me to have been able to refresh them. Sad

Without our pushbikes and not having a horse, we were left doing these caches on Shank's Pony Wink
We managed to find a few of this series in this pretty area with great views before geobro decided that he was starving and he neded food ....one day he will learn to bring snacks with him Wink
So we left the rest and headed off to find breakfast and lunch Smile
Most of these were easy finds with just a few sneaky, tricky cache hides thrown in and they all added to the enjoyment of our day Cool

We're off on a four day geofamily (Geodad: moneydork, Geomum:Tounga, Geosis: locus cache and geobro: ME) road trip adventure heading to Albury and Bendigo. A lot of miles were covered, many sights seen, lots of laughs, mirth and merriment during the trip. Oh, we found a few caches along the way as well.

Another find on the HCRT. I've dropped 'Wonders or Wanders?' TB into the cache.

Thanks for the cache The Trail Crew.

Locuscache, Sushilord, Mrs Dork (Tounga) and I decided to explore Victoria and during the Easter long weekend.
We enjoyed visiting Lake Hume but only didn't a few of the series as we were caching by car rather than by bicycle. We intend to return and complete the series, ideally by bicycle sometime in the future, TFTC.

TFTC. The weather was overcast and pleasant for a bike ride / cache run from Huon Reserve. Had only planned a trip to Ludlow but got carried away. I cached to Ludlow then road to Bonegilla and then cached on the way back. Unless noted all caches were pretty straightforward finds and in good order. GPS coordinates were all spot on.

#1780 Today being a rare cooler day we brushed the cobwebs off the geobikes and hit the rail trail starting at Bandiana and turning around at Huon doing every second cache along the way. In total we racked up about 44kms and 51 caches and hopefully rode off some Christmas pudding.

This was the 38th find, and after a couple of fit muggle joggers passed by we completed the easy find here. Tftc and series Trail Crew.

Found on our journey back from the Mega in Stanthorpe. We hoped to avoid some nasty weather and put a dent in the HCRT series even if we couldn't complete it this trip.

After we set up camp at Ebden we headed out to make a start. It was a chilly windy afternoon and we only managed a few kilometers on the bikes before it was time to head home for a warming glass of red.

What a glorious day for a spot of caching along the rail trail. I decided I would need a bike to tackle some of these caches and recently had bought a mountain bike so off I went. From Ebden Station to Bandiana Station I located seven caches and I have to say my back side was rather sore by the time I had returned to Ebden Station. Thanks for the Cache The Trail Crew Smile

28-Mar-15
I had recently purchsed a new bike so this trail was going to be its test today as I set off from Bandiana with this series in mind. In the end I went as far as the other side of Sandy Creek bridge and had a ball. I think I found 61 caches in this series without a DNF plus a few other assorted caches on the way. I moved my car along to some of the reserves to save a long ride back and that plan worked perfectly. The caches are in great order after all this time. No reptiles were found apart from the ones you are aware of .
A very quick find shortly after emerging from the tunnel.
Thanks trail crew for this series and I will have to return to do the remaining 45 another day..

Down to Albury for less than happy reasons, but today I had spare time and really really needed to 'clear my head'. Now, normally I am not a huge fan of powertrails, but I wanted some numbers for a goal, I needed the exercise, and the Sandy Creek bridge looked cool - and the day turned out to be overcast and not too hot for most of my walk. Perfect. So I walked 25kms. Picked up 55 Smiles and actually enjoyed myself. Interesting placements, great containers, a couple of DNFs (you get that), and the views ... oh wow the views. Spectacular. I can highly recommend this trail (and have already back home). Top stuff.

GPSr bounced me to the wrong side of the path, but I quickly corrected.

Thanks for placing this cache, The Trail Crew. Found in good condition.

Second of the 'avoid temptation' pair and the last of this wonderful series for me today. It had me going for a few moments as the structure seemed to be playing havoc with Upoj but a squiz at the hint focussed my attention and I finally had my 'turnaround' find in hand at 13:10.

Spent the day in Albury area today caching while the missus worked nearby. With bike in the car I decided to tackle the rail trail in the short time I had 0 by car and bike.

Quiet the warm day and no sunscreen and little water- glad I didn't attempt the whole trail in one day!

Really enjoyed the section I did today and each of the hides were in interesting areas and were able to be spotted and signed quickly. Thanks Trail crew for a fantastic power trail!

Headed to Albury this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild and specimenX.

Today was the day to attack the HCRT trail, not starting out as early as we should have this was going to be interesting to see if we would actually completely finish it. SpecimenX and myself on the bikes and Rapidlywild in the geomobile.

This trail was indeed a lovely ride with some great company and chatter to take our minds off some slight inclines along the way but we were also rewarded with some really stunning views.
The torches have now been deployed to travel by and search for the caches.
Another one ticked off on our journey, logging duties performed and then on our way again.

Well the weekend was upon us and the planned Geomission with specimenX and FurfacesLL in Albury/Wodonga was here Big Grin

We had been planning this weekend for sometime now and had been busy solving puzzles in preparation for the weekend. We spent the weekend doing the HCRT trail, some of the HSS series and some surrounding areas.

Officially day 1 of the attack on Albury/Wodonga area. Today we had plans to attack the HCRT Trail via pushbike and collect some random ones along the way also.

FurfacesLL and specimenX went off on the pushies while I went off in the geomobile to meet them at certain locations and continue the trail on foot. Logging duties completed and on we went.

Thanks for the cache The Trail Crew Smile

we attempted to finish the trail today we took two cars and broke the trail down in sections to break up some walking but unfortunately it was getting dark and the rain scared us away but we had a good adventure with plenty of good hides some easy some tricky and plenty of good views of the weir and surrounding areas. With every cache we attempted we found although one could not be logged as there was no way I was going to retrieve it im not one for heights and creepy crawlies but anyway thanks to the trail crew we had a very good day.
