thought I knew exactly where this was going to be but no luck for me here today - found a very big slug under the hint object but not the cache
Down for the Wellington Mega with KirsTim & yorkshirekiwi83 and vistra for the weekend, picking up caches in the area along the way. Lots of fun had and some cool sights to see. We especially enjoyed finding these caches in the Dry Creek area today, what a beautiful area! Many thanks to all the cache owners for the great maintenance and their caches!
Spent the long weekend down in Wellington and the surrounding region with Vamber, KirsTim and vistra, we were there for the Mega event and we picked up some caches along the way. We decided to focus on the Dry Creek loop walk and found all the caches, having a wonderful if not strenuous outing the way we approached it. TFTC's
I flew down to Wellington just for the day today to attend the WENZ Mega Event and I joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83, Vamber and KirsTim for a day's caching, which was focussed primarily on caches in the Hutt Valley area - signing all logs as KKKTTS. We decided that a walk was in order, so headed to Dry Creek and did the loop walk there - which was an enjoyable outing, where we managed to find all caches! Another quick find on our way up the hill. TFTC!
Didn't feel too much like a champion, more like a tired old man.
Still, the worst behind us (we hoped) we found the cache & soldiered on.
Thanks

Today I'm out exploring the Dry Creek Loop trail which I found featured on the NZ Mega homepage. A nice walk and a quick find.

In the area for the Mega and decided to do the Dry Creek cache walk. Thanks for all the placements around here.
Gut is pretty busted now.

It was a gut buster but by this time the grade was reasonable and I had a bit of breath back All dry in here TFTC
#5379. Well the One Day International cricket wasn't going that well today (we later lost the game). I decided it was time to head out and get some exercise rather than being a couch potato. So headed up to Haywards and Dry Creek to do this loop in the afternoon. Bit of a steep grunt up this trail. The cache however was a nice quick and easy find. Thanks for hiding it here CaligulaNZ.
Walked the loop in the clockwise direction today as recommended. It is certainly steeper on this side.
I had a good long look at the map and picked this as my cache for today. It is a bit miserable in the Hutt Valley this afternoon. Even so, Dexter the Border Collie was keen to get out there and have a look.
We came up the steep way and had a look for "Whistling Wires" on the way past. Then it was a short jog across to GZ.
It took a few minutes to locate the cache. It is in good condition. All nice and dry inside.
Thank you

Yeah that WAS a gutbuster all right, and this cache created a great excuse to pause and take a breather. Took a bit to find this one as I missed it the first time I looked (Don't know how that happened.

Nice quick find during a run around the Dry Creek loop track. Pretty quiet on the trail, probably due to the poor weather over the past couple of days. Cache in good condition, thanks for bringing me here!
I thought I was heading for the 3rd hide in a row of the same type when I saw the structure looming. However GPS took me elsewhere - directly to the cache with no searching. That doesn't hapen very often. Coords must be spot on. Couldn't figure out the meaning of the title unless it's what happens when you come up the hill. I was on the way down so gut remained intact. TFTC.
Found on a late afternoon / early evening mountain bike ride around the Dry Creek Loop with a diversion off to Boulder Hill on the way.
Another quick find as daylight was fading just before 7 pm.

Must apologise, I started to write over packwalkers log. I could just see indentations where they tried to sign log before pen ran out, so signed line below.
Hoping it's down hill from here?!?!
1 hr 55 mins from the carpark in a clockwise direction

My pen ran out of ink, so while I still signed, it's hard to see as it's just indents... Photo of log book included as proof of find. Tftc
It was my aim to find 30 caches today, and I had spent the morning up on Mt Climie looking for the new caches at the far end of the ridge. So by midday I only had three of the 30. I then made good progress with the caches I hadn't yet found on the Climie access road and in Tunnel Gully; I got up to 22 by around 3.30, but I needed to find the final 8 quickly so I could be home by 5.30 at the latest.
I'm not really into park and grabs, so I stopped at Dry Creek on the way home - I had seen about a dozen caches on the map on a loop track here and I was hopeful I could get eight of them, even though I knew nothing about the walk. I dumped all my gear - hat and water - surely it's cooling down by 4pm, right? - and only took my GPSr and a pen with me.
Well, with a combination of walking and running (still in my boots from Mt Climie) I completed the loop and found my eight and no more. I couldn't have gone any further though - the car was reporting it was still 28 degrees at 5.30 (cooling down? Nope!) and I was getting more than a tad dehydrated. Very grateful to reach the carpark and complete the goal. I made it home only ten minutes late (and that was due to traffic on the motorway!).
Thankfully all the caches I found were quick finds. This was no. 8 of 8 - the final of the walk for me and the final of the day. Straight back to the car after this! TFTC!

Found it quick n easy as good hint. Cache in good order. GLAD to have this one, TFTC.
After telling the family we would take the easy way, I was wrong and took the track anti clockwise, although it was a hard slog, we found this one pretty quick
Spotted a few possible hint objects around and spent too long searching at the wrong ones, got it in the end TFTC
Spotted the hint object quickly so no problems finding cache. Not so much gut buster as knee buster coming this way. TFTC!
'Dry Creek - Gutbuster' almost went to the great cache hide in the sky. Transpower have been clearing the land around the nearby pylon and creating an access way (see pic). They were working on the site when I went up there yesterday and there was no way to get at the cache. However I had a chat with one of the workmen and he said they disappear for lunch at about noon. So I came back today and passed them going down in their ute as I was heading up. I'll check next time I'm up and see if they've left the (hint) in place and that the cache still exists. TFTC!
sweet and another one bites rhe dust. a quick play with another dog for dobby and off to the next one.
Early start this morning to walk the Dry Creek Loop before I needed to be home to paint the house. Whole area bathed in thick fog this morning and no views anywhere. Quickly found without any problems. Wondered why it was called gutbuster as taken clockwise loop. As descended from cache became very aware of why called so. I think I chose the right direction. This was find number eight of nine on the loop today. Thanks for the cache.
After the slog up to the whistling wires, this felt almost sedate! I want my money back though, the Gut is still there! Mel0n of course has no such issues....TFTC No 2023.
This wasn't so much a gutbuster for us as a knee buster as we were on the clockwise loop. Sure the downhill was tough but don't think we'd have been brave enough to go uphill! Great way to finish the day and I think we'll feel it tomorrow MSP did mention several times that this was a very long way we were walking- seems 12km when looking on the maps when back at home. Thanks for the many caches to get us around
Getting towards the end of the Dry Creek Loop Track today as we had opted to take the clockwise route for various reasons. This was cache number 8 on the loop and what a lot of CaligulaNZ caches there have been . As with the others today I didn't have any difficulties finding it (no need to resort to Mrs B's eagle eyes while I am floundering away in the wrong place today ). TFTC
Couldn't work out the name of this one. Then once signed off and headed away I soon realised why. Pleased I took the clockwise route. TFTC
Id inveni! Thought I'd throw in at least a bit of Latin for you, o Imperator! TFTC
Quick find while completing the Dry Creek Loop track today. Really glad we opted for the easier clockwise option today' Sure would have been a gut buster! Cache in good order. TFTC CaligulaNZ
found second time around. Must have had eyes closed first time as I checked all around where it was. easy find apart from the hundreds of cicadas. very noisy!
Second of the evening, on my way to see if I get my first FTF. It is a good climb alright!!!
Did cache-maintenance run today.
Cache was still there in place, but vegetation cover had been severely depleted. I could actually see the cache as i approached it, but all is good.

On a walk from Dry Creek up onto Boulder Hill which was thwarted because of lambing. TFTC
Found and logged the cache while doing the loop track on a sunny warm "winter"day! TFTC
Find #1534. Decided I needed a walk and this loop has been on my list. Thought it might be a bit wet after recent rain, so donned the boots. So glad I did as I tackled the MUD (there was a warning sign at the carpark). By this point the MUD was very apparent. Could mostly walk along the track edge in the grass but it did slow down progress. Approaching this cache I could see I was on the wrong side so had to negotiate a way across the MUD to the post. SL TFTC
Quick find at GZ but getting here was half the fun.
MUD MUD and you guessed it more MUD.
Holy Jesus, this was a crazy ride(or should be push/carry) on MTB.
Had to give up on other caches in area due to track condition so will have to come back in drier conditions.
Definately made for an exciting ride.
Roll on Summer.

We found the gut-buster section OK, but then we were walking in the clockwise direction .
Thanks for the cache placements in the area, we picked up 5 in total on our walk.

#5024. We were on our way down (had we been coming up I suspect our guts would have been somewhat busted by the time we got to GZ. As it was we arrived reasonable fresh. Cache was quickly found, and the "Smarting around the world" trackable was left behind. Thanks for the cache; we are enjoying the loop.
I didn't read this cache's description until it was too late. I was committed to the anti-clockwise route. However, as far as gutbusters go, I thought this one was fairly mild. Having said that, I was pretty weary by the time I finished the loop.
I had no problems finding the cache which is in a good spot.

Found on the way back from Friendly Dog Corner. So I did it in both directions. TFTC
Stopped by while walking the loop track with the kids. The track was pretty sheltered from the blustery winds today, so a very pleasant walk. With the kdis in tow, this was a bit slower than my usual caching pace, so the 8.7km loop took 2hrs 50min at a fairly leisurely pace with a few stops to admire the views along the way. We did this clockwise, so it wasn't really a gutbuster for us.

After finding GC3XZXW - Whistling Wires (Wellington), it was time to head off to GC3W5T3 - Dry Creek - Gutbuster (Wellington) which is the 2nd of 5 caches that I had planned to get today.
Heading to this cache I soon realised why it was named so, but I am sure that going clockwise is a lot easier than anti as it seemed a lot easier than it did the last time I walked this circuit.
The walk to GZ was very pleasant this afternoon as there was a slight breeze, so it was just enough to take away the heat and keep the body from getting too hot. Was quite surprise that it didn't take as long as I thought that it would take me to get to GZ and I was soon there before I realised it. Arriving at GZ I soon spotted the hint object and managed to find the cache in the first spot that I looked, signed and returned the cache back as found, thanks for placing the cache here and thanks for bringing me back to this lovely walkway again, TFTC TNLNSL (4896), now what is the next cache on my list.

Out for a walk today and decided to do this loop. Yet another great circuit we hadn't uncovered yet. Did the walk anti-clockwise - climb not too bad. Nicely hidden cache and good co-ords. TFTC
Found as one of three on a loopy time around the dry creek. We did clockwise, wimpy eh! Fine afternoon, good walking, and successful caching.
Straightforward find, all in order, signed the log, and re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC, found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Not such a gutbuster if you come the other way round like we did. Amazing how muggles so often appear at GZs, even when you're in the middle of no-where.

Needed a walk this morning after being inside for most of the week so came here for a bit of a breather. I don't think I have been up here since the 1980s so it was pleasant to return and see how things have changed. Walked up the steep way as it was the shortest, not really any problem. Nice views up here this morning although I was forced to put on some wet-weather gear when a shower came through as I was walking up the track. Fortunately it didn't last long. The cache was a quick find thanks to good accurate coordinates and an obvious spot for its placement. Went on from here to the next cache higher up the track, and then returned the way I came. Time taken was slightly over an hour for both caches and back to the car, shame I didn't bring my bike as it would have been even quicker. Signed log, TFTC!
As I said in the last log, all you people out there how don't cache in the rain (Like I do) will never get FTF,STF or TFT. So start Caching in the rain everybody!
STF for me (again!)
STF for me (again!)
FTF 0748hrs . I had intended to take a walk up Mt Climie this morning but the combination of weather patterns and a couple of new caches pointed me this way instead. I took the steeper approach, which had me at the gz in just over 20min. Good coordinates and an obvious location meant the cache was soon in hand then it was on to the next one.
