This year we have a long winter holiday where we are travelling in the Pacific. We are doing sightseeing and geocaching. Now we will spend a six week period in Australia where we will drive from Melbourne to Murray Bridge and then via Grampions to Canberra, Sidney and Brisbane.

We are now staying in Halls Gap and are traveling around in the Grampies for hiking, look at water-falls and nice views. Today one of the places we visited was the Balconies and on our GPS we had this cache visible so we a detour to log it. Logbook is totally wet but there was an other paper in the box that we signed. Unfortanly we did not have anything to replace the wet logbook with.

Thanks for the cache. Greetings from two Swedish cachers.

This one hadn't downloaded to my pocket query since it was offline, but bienvenu had it and after searching together for a bit we found it at 11:40am after checking out the Balconies. The log book was very wet, but a secondary log sheet was dry enough to use.

A very enjoyable walk with a truly spectacular view. TFTC

Log is really wet and impossible to write on so I put a new smallish piece of paper in that I had on me but needs attention.

Must admit, the trolls are pretty cool! They're a new addition since our last visit here. Quite a bit of muggle activity for this hour of the day. Admired the rock formations while the elder of thecoxcrew juniors snuck in and retrieved the cache. Log signed, cache returned, job done - hopefully without any passers by wondering what we were doing! TNLNSL. TFTC.

Wow. I had the WHOLE extended family on this walk (6 adults, 5 kids (under 10 yo) and we loved it. What about all those "trolls"??! We built a few ourselves and admired the handy work of others. Pf course the view was spectacular and the hunt was fun, with my GPS adding to the drama as it had us walking in circles. Big Grin

Nice little cache, in great condition and still with some decent swaps. What a great experience all round. Thanks heaps!!

Will add some pics tonight (if I remember)

Back in the Grampians after 12 years. On my first trip to Australia I drove to the Grampians for some walking, but I wanted to see the Great Ocean Road in the same weekend, so I did not spent a lot of time to really enjoy the forests.

Today its more relaxing, the weather is great and the Grampians still look great too!

Great views, I remember this spot from the last time, nice to enjoy the view again.

Today was a beautiful day for hiking in the Grampians, and we set off rather early to beat the heat.
We started with the climb to The Pinnacle from Halls Gap and went down to the Wonderland car park.
We also visited McKenzie Falls ánd Reeds Lookout and The Balconies.
A day full of magnificent sites!
Many thanks to all the cache owners for showing us around,

Found on a day of driving - from Ballarat to Mt Gambier. Thought we'd better check out the Grampians with at least a drive through. This walk was just about right to fit into our day - and it had a very rewarding view at the end. Co-ords were a bit off so we got a bit prickly. Thanks for bringing us here.

28-Jan-13
My legs were starting to get weary by the time I got here as we had just been to Mckenzie falls and walked all those steps so the gradual slopes of this walk were much appreciated. Plenty of sightseers today but a bit of a bush bash is not too strange so managed to find the cache without much attention. We too took the prickly approach but found a much clearer way out. These Grampian caches can be harsh on bare legs!! TFTC

Doing a few of the short walks around Halls Gap. We came up here as kids 20 odd years ago, the rails were not around the balcony and the attraction was to stand in the jaws and have your photo taken. Loved the cairne forrest along the walk to the Balcony, was very hot today with lashings of flies!! The cache was about 15 m out for me today, but by the time I had signed the log my gps was reading 3m. Thanks for puting a cache here.

What great mountain ranges. We are just passing through today, but certainly worth for The Arkaroo to come back for a climb! We have parked and split into two groups. First RockSandra and I hopped across the rocks at the crest, then we thought, it may be a bit of a length in time to get to GZ, getting back the sandals and a quick walk with speed 7km/h. Five minutes find, and a few scratches, we headed to the lookout and the overhanging rocks. Nix wie runter und drauf! Barefoot again .... hmm, too many metal sharps for my taste of national parks, really dangerous to get cut your skin! I see, Melbourne lawyers were here, fencing off some area, leaving this mess!

Looks as town-mate has been already here from Stanwell Park, Thomas Mitchell! I live not even 50m from his residence, just above at Railway Crescent and I own two caches on Mount Mitchell, one with divine views as well! Nevertheless, the british did not all good ... agriculture insteat of virgin forests .... and overwiting the nice place names, as here on Gariwerd. Thanks for the history lecture, and the views, TFTCM!

Back in the rocks after a NY's eve foray out from the Gap to gather in locusts and other delectables for the feasting ahead. Managed to find this one as part of the expedition. Gotta love the hills.
Cache found, log signed, and then returned safely, just as found. All in order.

Taking advantage of the avaliable time, we teamed up with Stray Cougar for two days of caching in the Grampians.
Had a lot of fun and pushed our cache finds over 2500!
We arrived with about 1 hour to sunset and sat at he balconies watching the sunset.
Thanks for the cache and the timeless moments as the sun set.

Just wonderful, sitting on top of a rock and watching the sun going down behind the Ranges.

I could not believe it. I arrived and found the cache! Yep. Opened it up and saw a blank log. Yessssssssssssssssssss! An unexpected FTF. I didn't realize this was up for grabs so it was a very pleasing moment shared with no one SurprisedSurprisedSurprisedSurprised

In the excitement, I removed a frog TB to take to my good mate Freddo. You guessed it, I left it on the ground at GZ. Sorry Red FaceRed Face I snapped a pic of GZ as I left and on the high rez shot, you can see the frog TB on the ground. Can the next person please look for this and rescue little froggy??

Awesome spot and lookout,.

Promise I did not leave a plastic dinosaur! Thanks to jantoshys and clear skies from TeamAstro.
