Still in town after the Mega, and a couple of caches here and there. This was a nice quick find while out for a short bike ride along here this afternoon, TFTC
Another quick easy find here today, thanks ...Down here for the Dunedin Mega with Net61 and Jag50.
Down for the MEGA with Supernannny and Net61 collecting some caches on the way. With 3 sets of eyes it wasnt long before we spotted this decent sized cache. TFTC
Whilst cycling to Port Chalmers in February I DNF'd this cache. Since then the CO has moved the cache to a more readily available place. Nice quick find this morning. TFTC daywalk
Day 10 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc. We arrived in Dunedin yesterday and today we hired bikes to ride the Otago Vine including a ferry ride across the bay.We managed to collect a lot of the puzzles we had prepared for and I think we only had a couple of DNFs. It rained, the sun shone, the wind blew, it was calm - the whole gamut really. Thanks for contributing to the fun daywalk
Day ten of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. We have at last arrived in Dunedin. We spent today riding the Otago Vine clockwise, collecting caches as we came across them.Stopped at Port Chalmers for lunch then caught the ferry to Portobello.Mostly a nice day except for a bit of rain just out of Portobello (but we soon dried off).A quick find of a good sized cache. Recorded our clue, but I suspect we might have missed a few others. Thanks, Robmc.
Coordinates changed from:S 45 52.215 E 170 32.267Coordinates changed to:S 45 52.227 E 170 32.286Distance from original: 108.8 feet or 33.1 meters.Checked today - a lovely sunny spring day immediately after the wettest days Dunedin has endured for over a century. A homeless person was camping in the same patch of trees and left their tent and bedding there but, judging from the mouldy pillows etc, abandoned the camp some time ago. However they put their stash of canned goods right on top of the cache....! Fortunately the cache was still underneath, completely hidden. Since the area has changed so much in the last 12 years - it's definitely not 1.5 terrain now that the trees have grown - we have moved the cache to a much nicer spot nearby. New hint: Approach from sea side. Middle of broadleaf.
There are certain places that only geocaching prompts you to explore. This one is a good example. Interesting location. Thanks for the cache!
During our cruise from New Zealand, via Australia, Tasmania, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Mystery Island, Fiji, Bora Bora, Moorea, Tahiti, Raiatea, Maui, Kauai, Oahu and Hawaii Island we also passed by here and found this cache.T4tc and best regardsJoskaranch
A bit of a scramble through the bush to find this one, but pleased to be able to tick it off. Well hidden and in good dry condition. Thanks
Very secretive. Will be honest, i did feel a bit sketchy walking down on by the train tracks so best hazard a wander through the bush instead. Thanks!
Was out getting another cache & some groceries & thought I would go for a short work along track to try & find this one. Quick find for me today. Good hint
On a cyclocache ride from Andersons Bay to Port Chalmers and back. Well, I never actually found a way in which wouldn't involve the loss of blood so I had to cycle away.
Replacement logbook and pen. Looking through the old logbook, it's nice to see that many children have found the cache and signed the logbook correctly with their name and the date!Unfortunately Dutch-Kiwis hasn't signed anywhere in the logbook and hasn't provided any "alternative proof of find" such as a photo of them holding the cache. Plus, it would be easy to unscrew this cache container even with cold hands...? Dutch_KiwisPremium MemberProfile photo for Dutch_Kiwis[Caches Found] 6273Found it Found it14/Jan/2024The big mission of today day was to break my record of most finds in 1 day. I started in the morning from Larnach Castle, after spending the night there. Unfortunately, the weather was really bad for part of the day but I persisted nonetheless, going on a geocaching hunt through the wind and rain, on my bike! After going down Highcliff Road into the city, I spent a lot of time in the city centre, ticking off all adventure labs there. Then through the botanical gardens and onto the steepest street in the world, which I managed to ride all the way up in 3 'stints' . To finish off I grabbed some more tradies at the waterfront and just before midnight I called it a night. I'm not sure if I broke the record yet, since I'm only logging all finds at the moment .Btw, sorry to all CO's, I did not manage to actually sign all logs, since my fingers were sometimes so cold, I had no strength to open some tight containers. Rest assured, I actually found all containers and enjoyed the full day hunt a lot! Also sorry for this generic log for all caches, making it a little bit easier for myself, since I found so many. All finds were relatively easy, mostly because of the hints, thanks for that. All DNF's were either taking too much time so I had to move on, or were very probably missing. Many thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining! FP's rewarded for the ones I especially enjoyed!
GeohoundandI had already found this cache but she brought me along for a walk this evening, and the suddenly dragged me into the undergrowth. A quick and easy find of the cache, and then we were startled by Kiwirail going past.
Beautiful Sunday Afternoon Family walk. Sent the kids into the bush to find the geocache... Very overgrown and log book has fallen apart a bit. Thanks for the awesome adventure, of that one time we were in a bush and got the kids first Travel Bug!
Found with MacBayMeri - a lovely walk along here, away from the passing traffic. Not sure what the passing muggle thought we were up to, emerging from the bush. TFTC.
For some reason, MrMagoo72 and I didn't read the hint when we went in search of this one, but nevertheless we found our way in and our GPS led us to the right spot. Interesting how these areas are quite open, once you get in. Didn't take long to find the cache container, nestled in its spot. Fortunately the container was large enough for me to leave a TB for another cacher to move on. TFTC.
A reasonably quick find with a muggle friend once I found a way in. A cooler day on the bike trail today. The cache is still in good condition. TFTH

This was a cool cache to find and a really nice footpath that I hope to come back and explore more. TFTC
Checking on way past - picked up trackable.
Photos attached to show that Lions.v.Lambs (and sock puppet account whitemoose) signed logbook (on first page, undated) before 16 June 2021. We've discovered that user habitually lies about the date a cache was found in their online log and this cache was no exception - they logged online 6 Oct 2021, returned and signed the logbook a second time with this date.
Signing the logbook = finding the cache. You can not "unfind" a cache. A return visit and a second signing of the logbook is not a cache find - it is just a return visit.

Deleting the online log by Lions.v.Lambs that was falsely dated as a find 6 Oct 2021.
They are welcome to log an online find with the correct find date.

Not the first time I've been looking around here for caches. Some archived caches on the PQ got a look in and after several years progress on the cycle way and grounds have seen all traces removed now. A previous visit was waylaid by the Marine Science vessel berthed at the Uni shed so that held my attention that day on another walk from our parking spot at the Uni to St Leonards checking out the VC lodge. Accommodation by appointment seems interesting. They're still stuck in CHCH. A noice big pot was found after all the newbies didn't go far enough and while there was some water in the cache the pie dry logbook got popped in a new glad baggy. Supra suspicionem, checked over the logbook at all the caching peeps who have signed the logbook but not recorded their visits online. Swapped some swag and added an extra cardboard Otago Uni pen I have a few of. Code had been jotted down for the Mega final, luckily this code was what it should be and not the Elephant mix up that I corrected earlier. Poured the water off and popped the bagged goods back in cache and stowed the pot back under cover. Oooh rattle rattle a train just went past. Three hour return walk from Roseneath and the GZ can be easily spotted from the road. Thankyou for this cache HR. Have another fav courtesy of my luvly sponsor for maintaining your caches. RTP 325pt

Visited to drop off the New Zealand State Highways TB beside not only SH88 - where it hasn’t been before - and also the Main Trunk Line, the railway equivalent of a NZ state highway. Safe travel little bug.
Found it after searching around a bit, tricky but easy once you figure out how to get in there
Picked this up at the start of the bike trail this morning
Lovely day for ride. Took awhile to find my way to the hint items. But easy find once there.
Thanks Daywalk for another cache on another one of my adventures

Visiting Dunedin for the weekend as one of the kids has their final degree exhibition. This afternoon attended the GIFF to meet up with some local cachers. Afterwards borrowed a bike and cycled out to Sawyers Bay where we are staying. Great to be on two wheel and collecting some smiley. Located this one fairly quickly. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the cache.

No caching during Covid-19 alert levels Level 3 & 4.
This includes virtual waypoints - we need to stay home except for essential outings.
Working together, we can beat delta and keep our community safe.

Satnav couldn't find the start so had to go back to basics.
Quick find. Now off to the final I hope.

Found while staying an extra few nights in Dunedin waiting for the weather to settle down
Worked out the clue and had the cache in hand right under the noses of the unsuspecting locals. Love it when they totally ignore you. Cache is all good. TFTC
On a three week trip to the lower South Island with tmann421 hunting caches.
Enjoyed the trip around and the challenge of the finds.

Another good cache found with woolwood9.
We fairly soon had the container located. SL: **tm/ww NZ**
*Thanks for putting this cache out for us to visit*
Quite a bush bash to get to cache!

Quite a bush bash to get to cache!
The bush has grown up so much it took us a while to find a way in. Once in we worked our war through until we reached GZ where we made a quick find. It was a lot easier returning to the path - we just followed the light. tftc

Found and rreplaced missing lid - the important part because it has the codeword! Cache rather the worse for wear but willl keep ot going as part of the series. Picked up some rubbish but proper cito needed.
An enjoyable stroll to find the cache. No problems there. After reading the cache page it seems I'm wearing my helmet incorrectly. TFTC
I have already nabbed four in this series but realised I had only 1 clue for the final. Luckily the one I had was the toughest to get. Went back the other 3 to get their clues before heading onto this to sign off. Tftc
New Zealand is under Level 4 lockdown from today for at least a month, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am disabling all my caches for the meantime to remind people that we MUST break the chain of infection.
Covid-19 is now being spread within the community, person to person. We know that the virus will remain on surfaces like metal and plastic for up to 4 days.
We have only one chance to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading further. This is to BREAK the chain of infection by keeping each household separated completely. During this time each of us MUST keep isolated and only share with the people in our own household.
The best advice is to act as though you are infected... which you might be. We know there are cases in Dunedin... I might be infected and so might you.
If you touch a cache container, you will leave viruses on the plastic, logbook and pen. Those will remain infectious for up to 4 days. Suppose some other person finds the cache tomorrow. They are likely to pick up those viruses and will get infected.
Playground equipment is out of bounds for exactly that reason- touching surfaces can spread infection.
Each of us has to do our bit to save lives. If the Covid-19 virus spreads, a lot of us will die. Maybe your grandmother, or my friend who has just had a bone-marrow transplant.
Stay home, stay safe, let's get to the other side of the pandemic before we go geocaching again.

After locating a suitable entry-point, the well-protected cache was aptly discovered. THe nearby equipment certainly looks, euhmm, interesting.
THank you for the cache.
