This trip to South Australia was on again off again due to the changing circumstances in the various states we had to travel through. Finally getting a green light from all 3 states we headed off early boxing day. Day 7 of our adventures took us firstly to an event, then a tree climb which has an amazing history, and now we were driving around cherry picking certain caches and counties. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.

That was a creepy walk at night, but had to get this one as it's our four year wedding anniversary today! Might need to steal this idea, hopefully a long time in the future. Cheers cobber.
Found Stan and found the prize. My grandmother is in this neighbourhood a bit closer to the tracks. It's ok she liked trains so she watches then go past all day.

I did feel a bit strange wandering around in a cemetery looking for a cache , hoping I wasn’t intruding on anyone’s privacy.
This was a quick find thankfully and I didn’t need to move from the path.

With GreyHams we set out on a new adventure, driving from Adelaide to Sydney via broken Hill and Bourke... with side trips in all directions as the caches lead us. Four days with a number of target caches along the way, although shires, oldies and virtuals were our priority with many others of interest too.
From the lush green of South Australia into the dry outback of NSW, contrast, scenic and interesting. With GreyHams trip planning we traveled along easily as he drove and navigated and chattered! Never a dull moment through the stark and barren land which was completely fascinating.
So many odd locations to be seen, as well as emus, kangaroos, birds, a desert horse and so many teeny tiny little goats! So many goats... I did love those goats! The dry and barren made way for more substantial lands as we drove closer towards the end of the trip, the trees returned, the hills and finally those little goats... Yay!
About 2500km, 29 shires, 4 virtuals, a number of oldies and some nice walks and places visited along the way. The locals and little towns memorable, the lands and rivers dry and sad but a great trip as we traveled along from cache to cache.

Aquilus1 and I have long been looking at our Project-GC maps and trying to 'finish' NSW, which is our closest real state (we both completed the ACT on our first ever finds). Of course we rarely have long term plans, the best trips just sort of happen without too much notice, but we had been thinking about this trip since halfway through the last one.
This plan was to go from Adelaide to Canberra, via the 'hard to reach' counties at the north/north-west of NSW that we had missed last time. Some research showed flights to Adelaide were cheap (well, using points) but also well timed. Arriving at the start point at 7.30am means you are away with a full days caching in front of you. What really sealed it was the one-way car hire deals from Adelaide to Sydney/Melbourne. Sure, this means we have to catch the bus from Sydney airport, but saving $800 sure has a sweet taste.
Day 1:
After landing in ADL airport we made a swift start grabbing the virtual there, I do so love an airport virtual. From there it was all about Oldies and Counties with a couple of Large caches thrown in for bonus value.... got to love a Large! Soooo many counties in Adelaide, and we grabbed as many as we could without detouring massively... we had a long way to go in 4 days after all. I did quite like the grid layout of Adelaide, it means if you encounter roads that are blocked it was easy to reroute. It was slow going in Adelaide (city caching is always slow) but we eventually made our way out and got to the highway. Almost missed Gawler as we were too busy chatting away, it would have left a large hole in our county maps
The Clare valley has such an amount of caches and a bunch of oldies, so it took a bit of time to get through as well. So, so green up this way, it was a pleasant surprise for me. The original plan was to get all the way to Broken Hill today but with so many counties and oldies we only got as far as Peterborough, in the dark amid pouring rain.... and got the last 2 rooms in the last motel in town...close call. This was 'proper' small town and we had dinner at the hotel, as it was the only place open.
Day 2:
OK, we have some time to make up as we are 3 hours down the road from where we though we would be starting this day...luckily my alarm was gentle and right on time. Wow, the countryside looks so, so different to yesterday. Now is proper outback and by the time we got to Yunta it was almost desert, really dramatic stuff, but still populated with the odd random goat. We got to Broken Hill and prioritised the highlights: the mine shaft and the big chair.... the HJ's was a fine lunch as well. From there we left and continued across the scrub of western NSW, through Wilcannia, into Cobar with goats galore in between and finally to Bourke, once again in the dark and rain. Bourke was our original destination for Day 2 and we surprised ourselves at making it this far. Again we got the last 2 rooms in the last motel in town.... and we tried 4!! Really riding our luck.
Day 3:
OK, next services are in Brewarinna which is 180km away, we have fuel for 200... so off we drive into the desert without a second thought. Yep, smart thinking! We did make it of course but it was a close run thing. Rivers out here were very sad to see... mostly just sand with water here and there.... but not much. Bogan river was non-existant, the Barwon a set of pools with nothing in between. We went through Walgett, less said the better. Through Gilgandra on a private new road ending at Mudgee. Motel had heaps of rooms for once!
Day 4:
Last day and all about getting to the airport through the blue mountains grabbing counties on the way. After dropping off the car we ran to the bus where it was waiting and managed to convince the driver to let us on, while I was buying tickets over the phone... all worked out in the end, but yet another example of our fine luck on the trip.

After being at work all morning I decided to collect some caches on the way home. With the rain being off it wasn’t very pleasant but the things you do for caching. I finished off the arvo with an FTF on black hill.

I was heading out to another target cache, but missed the exit and got stuck on the new part of expressway. Turned off as soon as I could and thought best not to waste the journey so a check was made to find nearest cache and this was it Took longer than it should have, was about to admit defeat when a final swoop of the stones found me the right one and soon added a smiley. Lovely cemetry. Tftc

I needed a trad a day for a few days for a challenge so I just chose those nearest to home. I should have looked more closely as I am definitely not a fan of this type of hide. As the previous finder said, it seems wrong even in daylight. Logbook is damp but took a signature. Thanks.

Almost gave up as if I kept looking I would be late for breakfast. But with a last minute desperate attempt I found Marg and the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC
After the second time here I finally found this one. It took me a very long time to search but in the end I was successful. It was a bit awkward to look between graves and I had problems to locate the right spot but I was rewarded with a nice made cache in the end. TFTC!!
Beautiful day for a cemetery cache. Closest to home is now done. I came here a couple of years ago but somehow missed it. This time went straight to it. TFTC
Found with Clare007 and Hevwalker after a munzee event nearby. 'Dropping' TB to be picked up and taken to the Alexandra Event. TFTC
The cemetery was quite close to Simpson park where the MunzFit event was.
So hevwalker & Jambo Chicken drove into the gates, (a bit squeezy in some places)

Not sure why I forgot to log this find... I came with 2 members of the GOTHS to check and replace the container. So yeah I found it TFTFun
The cache container had been replaced with a temporary one and the broken glass removed. A new complete hide will be installed in the near future.
Drove to work on my own rather than with the geohusband who needs to be at work by 7am. This allowed me time to stop for a cache on the way. We do enjoy a cemetery cache and have 3 of our own in the south east. This cemetery is lovely and the cache was found pretty quickly once in the right spot. Needs maintenance though TFTC
This one needs maintenance cache container is broken although contents are dry. The glass jar covering it is also broken. Can still be assembled safely but don't think it will last long in this condition.
Despise hides in these places. Container is all cracked and be careful of the broken vase
Took a lil while to find, was bait iffy about touching graves, but I found the cache. Tftc

On a bit of a Northern bike-ride cache grab, this one was first cab off the rank. 'Silk' smooth stealth, bore 'Fruit' for me in a place with lots of 'Flowers' for this well hidden cache
