Worked out co-ords easily and was happy with hiding spot except there were a few cans & cups there as well...removed these and disposed of appropriately, but as there was sport on in the park yesterday afternoon there were way too many muggles for us to continue

This afternoon we have arrived in Charters Towers as we head east from the Gulf of Carpentaria. We did a town tour and learnt of the part Jupiter played in the establishment of this town then went up to Tower Hill where the views of the area excellent.

Our motel is only 200m from so I was able to walk over and explore this beautiful park where I heard and spotted lots of birds feeding before sunset.
I found the required info and hoping it was correct in the fading light headed over to look for the cache. Spot on - a quick find!
The only multi for the trip.

We really enjoyed visiting the monuments and history in this park. That seems like a lot of gold to find!
After doing the sums, we soon had some good numbers and took a walk across the park.
It seems like there must have been some rain here recently as it was quite wet underfoot.
Nearby, in the park a local community growers market was setting up.
Log signed.

This was my second visit to GZ in 2 days. Yesterday spent sometime looking without success. This morning ventured back and surprisingly quickly found. I put it down to tiredness the previous day as I looked for it late in the afternoon. TFTC

22-Apr-22
We decided to start caching a little bit earlier than usual - best decision ever as it started showering later in the morning and then it just rained all afternoon.
We completed the tribe series as well as many other interesting caches north of Charters Towers.
Thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.

After the MEGA events in Townsville, we headed towards Charters Towers where a variety of different cache types are waiting for us!

Multis are not our speciality, but this one worked well for us.

Two attempts at this one for Ghostgums and I today. First was muggled out, but the second give us plenty of time to scratch around for a cache. Sadly, no joy for us.

16-Apr-22
Found with the MEGATRONS crew while we were in town for the CITO on MEGA day.
It was a quick little jaunt to town to grab a few, get in, and get back to find some saintly finds before the trivia night.

Cheers CachedinNQ for this one as well

Day 3 of my Townsville Mega adventure with SnappyTomCats.
Following the formalities of the opening ceremony, group photo & trip through the GPS Maze we headed off to Charters Towers for a bit of sightseeing & grab a few caches while there.
We wandered over to where the prospector was & found the information, calculated the co-ordinates, met some locals & had a bit of a chat to them before grabbing the cache.

MEGA Trip - day 3

Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) for an early CITO at Charters Towers and to find as many types as we could in the day.

After the CITO, we enjoyed a tour around Charters Towers by visiting various caches. Enjoyed collecting the info for this multi and the short stroll to GZ to add our names to the log.

and having a crack at cache diversity in a day ...
looking for a multi, and having struck out in town
ventured over here for a look.

Wandered over and got some numbers
off to the next stage and quickly found the prize
thanks for all the caches Cachedin NQ, and the diversity too.

Day 3 of our Townsville Mega event weekend. Out early with hevwalker for a walk along the river doing an adlab and a couple of caches before going to GZ to the official opening and a quick run through the Maze. Then we headed of to Charters Towers to do touristy stuff and find a few caches. An interesting Multi! TFTC

First time into Charters Towers so interesting look around. Good to see Big Matt at the CITO who came around with us for a variety of caches on the hill

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,572. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This one we actually missed yesterday, but the CO mentioned to us that it was definitely still in place, so we tried again today - Yay ! Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks Cachedin NQ !!

Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.

Today I was lucky enough to be out and about so I targeted this cache.

Multis are usually not my thing, so it wasn't surprising to me to find a lot in my found database that hadn't been logged.

Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Thanks Cachedin NQ (F=3050 H=115) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Having a great time making our way to the Townsville Mega with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37.
We have made it this far and have a couple of days up our sleeves so decided to set up camp for a couple of days and wash off some of the dust. It was an interesting sensation to not be rumbling along the road with the dust in our face, eyes . . . . .
This is likely to be our last day in this town but we are going to find a few more before leaving. Once the necessary work was done, we made the find with no problems.
Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.

Nearly forgot to log this find. Sorry that there is so much time lapsed but I am slowly catching up on all the logging I need to complete. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

Like many other southerners, Sol de lune and I are caching our way to and around Townsville. Arrived in Charters Towers and had a crack at this multi, but it proved elusive for us today Sad

No luck for us here today. The ants sort of told us we where in the right, however after what we though was a good search, we had to admit defeat.

Thanks anyway...

**This Cache:**

Luckily for me the CO had only checked on this cache the day before my find! Big Grin
So they did all the hard work for me, digging the cache out of it's hiding spot and making it easier to find! Thanks for that!

I started at WP1 and decided to just walk to the cache, would of taken just as long to drive I would think!

Thanks, good to find another multi!

**Today:**

Day 5 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event! Big Grin

Today was laid back, I had made excellent time and only needed to get from Pentland - Townsville! I spent almost the entire day in Charters Towers! I initially only had a couple of caches planned, but I fell in love with the caching and town itself and ended up spending all the time I could until I had to be in Townsville to meet someone at the airport!

Wow, caching in Charters Towers was just fantastic, super high quality hides and a very cool town with lots to see. It was a highlight of my trip!

Staying in Charters Towers so headed out to grab some caches in the area. After gathering the information needed I sorted the numbers and headed for GZ. I had to leave without checking as kids were playing nearby but when I returned they had gone. After a short search the cache was in hand.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Day 18 of my trip north from Adelaide.

Today was spent caching and sightseeing around Charters Towers. I had picked out the multis, puzzles, wherigos and traditional caches that I was keen to do and picked up a few other opportunistic traditional caches along the way. I also completed the new Lab caches in town.

All in all it was as a very pleasant day, with a cool morning and a relatively mild day, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. In all I managed to find 7 puzzles, 9 multis, 3 wherigos, 13 traditionals and an earthcache for a total of 33 caches for the day (plus the Lab caches). I only had one DNF.

A nice simple, straightforward multi and find.

Thanks Cachedin NQ for the cache.

I had planned to do this one as my first multi cache in January when I visited last. Due to the rudeness and selfishness of the bats, I was unable to do it then Wink. I came to CT to grab another mystery cache, I decided that I might as well give it a crack after visiting the facilities. I knew that I would not get Corona Virus here, because no one likes multi - caches ( I am becoming a fan myself - I don't understand why they don't like them Smile ). I solved fairly quickly avoided the plover in the middle of the oval and decided to go the long way around. I can't get a break with these plovers. Thanks for the cache guys (Cachedin NQ)

15-Jan-20
Council have cleaned up the trees after the bats moved on and opened the park yesterday. Couldn't check on the cache as there was a vehicle parked next to it, lets assume it is good to go!

Council have closed Centenary (and Lissner) Parks due to bats and potential tree damage.

After the very nice GIFF event today we wanted to find some caches in town. Came here first, cause the sun was still quite hot and the park nice and coolish.

I should give this a favourite point as it is one of the few Multi’s in Charters Towers that doesn’t seem to require you to use half the tank of gas to complete it. A pleasant walk in a pretty cool little park at a current perfect temperature. Informative little park and a few statues nearby of the moment that saw this bit of dirt turned it the town it is today, almost 148 years later. Thanks for the cache and history lesson.

27-Sep-19
Another fun little multi. We needed one more cache before doing our usual ec for every 100th find. Glad we chose this one and enjoyed learning more about the history in and around CT.

We are back in Charters Towers for a cleanup and stock up after our trip to Cape York. Too busy to get more than a couple of caches on this visit. I will return though. I was happy to be able to nab this one before moving on.

TFTC. We are camped at Macrossan Park for a few days before heading into Townsville. We needed to come into town for shopping and gas, so we took the opportunity to cache as well. A nice quick simple multi. An even better around 11 months of unloved to boot.

26-May-19
And we're back in a new location with updated the calculations.

05-May-19
Stopped by this one with the intention of retrieving and relocating but couldnt find it. The council have added some pavement and chair nearby and done some pruning. The undergrowth has been cut back but this hide was a bit of a problem and found less often. Rethink, rejig the calcs and rehide shortly.

When we arrived at GZ monument no one around and then out of nowhere a person appeared, another geocacher who had already solved this one. Having solved the questions we made it to GZ (2) and with a little help from Geo local completed the task.
This is a nice town with very friendly Geo people so will be back to complete the other caches.

If we'd read the listing more exactly, perhaps we would have found the cache.
But so we just found a nice park with a nice made memoriam to former times, and the final fig, but searched there probably at wrong height.
Anyway, thanks for showing this place,

Staying a few nights in Charters Towers this morning we visited the library to learn about the archives section to hopefully trace some family history here from the Pioneer days.

We're still meandering across northern Australia after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. Now in Charters Towers, I had the day to myself, so I planned a route that would see me find a mixture of traditional, multi and mystery caches.
It turned out to be a huge day as I visited over 30 sites but only about 14 of them were caches, the rest were gathering information for the multis.
A lovely park and a very relaxing wander through it gathering information and finding the cache.
Retrieving the log was a little tricky but I have added my name, often signing as SG as I so often do in small caches to save space.
Thanks again Cachedin NQ.

Being part of the GC Pirate game and so far from home we were happy to come across a town that had a few caches in it. As multi's are worth more tokens in the game this week we decided to concentrate mainly on those so a nice early start was had and we saw lots of Charters Towers on our tour.

It didn't take too long to collect the required information at wpt1 while also learning a little of the history of this town and we then saw where the cache was hidden and though "Oh Bugger, this could be an all day job" We decided to read previous logs and saw the CO's note and thought "you bewdy" and followed the instructions and were rewarded with a nice easy cache find the log book of which now contains our name.

Many thanks again Cached NQ for the cache.
