Had a hunt of the first way point device and its gone just lots of rubbish also the final has been smashed so its time to archive this one
I had previously found the required equipment but I had a battery issue at the time, so left for another day. Well many months (could be a year or two) and finally back. Looked in where I found previously and not there. Had a bit of a look round in case been moved but no lick. Had a quick look at the webpage and saw the two most recent logs being didn't find it either. The last finder also didn't find the required apparatus but found the cache anyway. So not being deterred by the absence of the required tool I set out to find the cache anyway and surprised myself by locating relatively quickly. Thanks for the cache. Not found as intended but found anyway. Will pu needs maintenance log through also.
On a day of kiwi-nomad finds, couldn't find this one. Confess I didn't look too hard though
We were on a bike ride this morning, with the specific goal of finding a few caches. We had heard caches put out by kiwi-nomad were the ones to go for!!! Wanting to find a few caches near 'home', we decided to follow this biking trail as far as we could before we had to head back. Unfortunately, we were unable to find stage one for this cache. We might have to go back and try again!
Out with Clevett50 this morning we had a hunt around but couldn’t find the initial location however with out Geocaching experience we fluke on the location of the final so signed the log but feel like we cheated in that we missed and we’re disappointed to not find the first step which we thought sounded like fun
I had been here with another cacher, that was about a year ago. We had a heap of kids with us that day which did not really make for an easy solve as everyone had an opinion about how it should work. So on that occasion we put it back and said we would return.
I was passing again today as I was visiting some of the underpasses to gather numbers for a multi that I need to work on. So while I was in the area I thought I would have another look at this one.
It was high tide and the sun had come out from behind the clouds. I was feeling pretty blessed to be wandering around this area.
I sat quietly on the seat and surprised myself by finding the numbers, it turned out to be a lot easier than we were making it last time.
I soon had the numbers sorted and tried to decide where I would have to go to find the cache. I could see something in the water that had the potential to be created by the CO. I sat and enjoyed the views and the sunshine while I waited for the tide to go out far enough to investigate the something - turned out the something was a nothing to do with geocaching.
I had a bit of a nosey around the area and it appears with the amount of empty alcohol bottles this must be a drinking place for people - thankfully he/she/they were not there while I was. Shame they don't know about cleaning up after themselves.
Anyway a short time later I had the cache in hand, I signed the log and returned it as I found it. Thank you for another clever cache and of course thank you for the smilie. Another favourite point coming your way for this one.

A slow and frustrating find. Enjoyed it!
Took a bit to fire it up and struggled to get one digit to do it's thing, eventually worked.
Cheers!

Check out cache today on my walk and final is still in the same place safe and sound.
Awesome cache which took some time to crack and find but well worthwhile thanks
Love the field puzzle, but for the dragon and I it didn't come off.
Firstly we found the instructions incorrect - the match is with the unlit LED, not with the lit LED, and on top of that we could not find the cache. Just in case we were interpreting it incorrectly, we swapped the coordinate parts around, but that got to a location too close to another cache. So we did have it right, but eventually we gave up hunting. Maybe next time.

Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. One of our missions was to hunt out as many Kiwinomad caches as possible owing to have been so impressed on previous Nelson visits. This was another great cache needing some effort to discover the way in. Loved it. An FP from us.
Found with chrisb34. Yet another clever cache. Thank you very much! Have a favourite
Joint find with the help of SAFCman, who was home from Auckland. Together we eventually figured it out and suddenly, there was the cache!! Thanks kiwi-nomad. Definitely worth a fav!!
Had the opportunity for a visit to Nelson for 2 days with Mrs Yeetrees as she was going to attend a embroidery workshop for 2 days, we decided that we would fly in late Friday night and stay the full weekend. Having booked this trip back in February we werent sure what the weather was going to be like but we decided that we would chance it. Managed to find accommodation at the Monaco Hotel & Resort as it was very central to where we wanted to be. Mrs Yeetrees decided that she would like to come caching in the end with me instead of attending the workshops as there wasnt anything to her liking. This was day 2 of our travels around the Nelson region.
After finding GC1399R - MIDDLE WICKET (Nelson/Marlborough) we decided that we would make our way back to this cache that we tried to find yesterday, as we were armed with additional information after reading the cache page and deciding that we would give it another try.
The walk to GZ was quiet enjoyable as we made our way to GZ and it really didnt take too long to get there in the end. Arriving at GZ we managed to retrieve the container and then was able to retrieve the required information after doing a bit of maintenance with the extra tools that I had purchased and we soon were given some numbers that we required.
After a bit of trial and error we so managed to get some co-ordinates that made sense and soon realised where the cache was going to be, oh that was so clever indeed, managed to retrieve the cache, signed the log and then replace it back as found.
Thanks for the very clever and well constructed cache, definitely deserves a favourite point and definitely recommended to be done, TFTC TNLNSL (12561)

After finding GC6NE1Z - Monaco View Hotel (Nelson), this was the next cache that we had on our list to find today, as we made our way towards GZ we noticed that there were starting to be more and more muggles making their way along the walkway. But as luck would have it they didnt seem to take any interest as to what we were doing.
Finally arriving near GZ we managed to sneak away from the path without being noticed and made our way to GZ, once there we managed to find our way to GZ without being noticed. Once at GZ we managed to find the first part of the cache without any issues and then retrieved the required equipment before settling down and trying to get the required information.
We tried for over 30 minutes without any luck and decided to call it quits, and decided that a visit to a local electrical supplier may be required, we decided that we will be back.

Found the switch box easily enough. Sat down and stated working our way through the options. Didn't seem to be much happening to begin with and the sunshine wasn't helping, but after all the rain lately nobody's going to complain about the sun. Anyway, eventually got the spark and the co-ords, so headed off in the direction the GPS pointed. Of course it was wrong, but it wasn't the co-ords, it was the +/- factor in the GPS. Headed back to the first place (gps was saying 4-8m) and found the log to sign. tftc very enjoyable
Needed to have a couple of bites with this one. TregearP and I visited last weekend and got answers for 5 of the 6 required coordinates. We had several tries but I suspect some corrosion on the screws and poor (i.e. bright) light may not have assisted.
We took our answers away and tried a bit of trial and error with Google Earth which suggested that, if our other 5 were right, then there was only one sensible solution which worked.
Given the solution wasn't too far away from our location, headed out again, but after what we thought was a good search, a DNF.
We had the opportunity to talk to a couple of locals at this weekends International Day of Geocaching Event and asked if our final coordinates were close? An affirmative answer meant we were back out this afternoon and this time looked harder and more closely.
How did we miss that??? Well we did. Anyway, today it was a quick find. All in good order, another FP, and thanks so much for the really enjoyable cache.

Have enjoyed a number of kn caches in our time in Nelson, we were well prepared with batteries but it took a wee while for the little lights to shine on some options. This would have taken less time if we hadn't fallen for some numptie errors such as getting ourselves in a place of better light, much harder to see leds in bright sunshine! First coordes didn't seem to be an option so checked again and came up with a possible. Revisit for a good search of the area and after a little clarity at the IGD event went back for a third visit and the smilie. A great cache thanks so much.
Found with capperz, richardinho.nz and jojo74.
Earlier in the week capperz mentioned he was planning a trip to Nelson with richarinho.nz and joj74, and knowing I was home alone this weekend, asked if I wanted to tag along. Of course, I said yes and as gratitude for the invite, offered my wheels as transport. Everyone really knows that capperz' car is a gas guzzler and my fuel bill would probably be the same as a quarter share of his.
The plan of attack was to attend the Pirate Event in Blenheim, the head across the Hill and do a few caches around the airport before heading to the Nelson Pirate Event. Afterwards it was off to Rabbit Island to do the eastern end of that.
All up I got 30 caches today, which leaves me 15 off my 2000 milestone... woo hoo.
Depending on the space available logs were signed in full, or Cz, Rh, KM, and JJ or CRKJ. with Cz or C missing on those he had already found.
After attending BigglesNZ Pirate event at the Honest Lawyer (is that an oxymoron, a bit like Intelligence Officer in the Defence Force), we headed along this track which is a tribute to Kiwi-nomad's cache building skills. I already had a couple of these and capperz had a couple more, but richrdinho.nz and jojo74 only had one, so there was something for everyone.
This cache was the main reason capperz dragged us along this trail, as he had a previous go at it but as he is technically challenged, failed. Having dragged the technology from its hidey-hole, jojo74 was randomly trying different combinations. Seeing she was getting nowhere, I had a read of the instructions to try and work out what to do, while capperz and richardin.ho tried the empirical method more commonly known as blind-finding.
I had worked out what needed to be done and instructed jojo74, and we had the south coordinates solved when the other method came up with the cache. I won't say anything more, but I can imagine the cO having a wry smile across his face when he reads the found logs on this one. It's obvious to see why this cache had 32 favourite points... I say had, because it's got 33 now.

A return visit here after a previous trip yielded nothing but heartache. With a qualified engineer and brains trust of ricardinho and Jojo I felt confident that translating instructions to actions would yield some success. After a few faff abouts the instructions were read one more time and the cache revealed itself to all concerned. Another awesome k-n cache, easily deserving it's accompanying F P.
Good to have a chat earlier today too k-n. T F T C
Today is the official first day of the Northern Hemispheres Summer souvenir-fest and we start with some geo-bling by attending an event; how about two? So a plan was hatched by several Marlborough interlopers to come raiding over the seven seas (Whangamoa Hill) and find a few caches mostly by bike. Raiding party was Kiwimykl, Ricardinho.nz and Jojo74, a Motley Crue. Nelson donned it's fine Winter coat and a beautiful days weather was enjoyed.
A trip around the airport by fair means (on foot) and foul (bike!! oops) a catch up at the Honest Lawyer, then a quick b n g (bike and grab) along the trail before a late afternoon attempt on the East of Rabbit Island. Not a huge numbers day, but some great caches, good company throughout and a some wonderful views were enough to slake the geo-thirst.

First time at this cache, although Capperz had been here before. The instructions left some room for interpretation, but after a few minutes we had some workable coordinates for one direction, and the rest of the puzzle fell into place quickly after that. Another well deserved FP, thanks K-N.
Saturday was day one of a two day caching weekend in Nelson. Capperz has proposed the idea a few weeks back, and myself and Jojo signed in. Kiwimykl was also recruited and kindly supplied the transport, and a hit list of locations was compiled. For us it didn't really matter what we targeted as there is so much unchartered territory this side of the hill for us, but our collective aims were around the airport perimeter and the Nelson side of Rabbit Island with a few cycle-access favourite point hoovers in the middle. Just as well I had a few FPs in the bank. Before that though there was an event in Blenheim at a local cafe, then another for the same reason at the Honest Lawyer with the Nelson crew around lunch. All logs signed with variations on the theme of Jo, Ric, Km and Capperz, and thanks to all the COs, it was a great day

A class act very well done although have to admit it was my second attempt but got there in the end . Certainly deserves a fav which I will give (when i get one ) .
Thanks so much for a great cache.

Well I was not expecting this one. Cool idea and well executed, Took a wee whle to tease out the final coords, but did that and made a quick find. Cheers and a fav point from me. Cheers.
Exploring around Richmond, Stoke and Nelson. There are a few caches around here!!
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

found it during mz short holiday in New Zealand. This day was just like made for geocaching so I took a bike and gps and went to looking around Nelson. This cache was just on the way. I came there and quickly solved right place to get the cache. Nice one. Thank you for the cache.
Good Find on a Christmas Day walk.
Mr Samy! did the working out while Mrs Samy! laughed to herself when she found the cache without any help, right where we had been.

Today, I cycled up the great taste trail with my brother & mother to find a heap of geocaches. My father met us while having lunch so my younger brother could drive home & I could bike home. I got the co-ordinates last week as I solved the puzzle to sparky, but I entered the south & east co-ordinates in opposite places, so after giving up from looking under flax bushes, dad found it quickly. I'm surprised I didn't find it last time. find #173
SPOILERS ALERT I've tried to minimise hints and giveaways: Well thats new. I'm biking along the bike track and My phone is playing up and wont give me my location to find caches so I go "Thats a good place for a cache" so I check all the usual spots and stand up and find the cache. Great hide. I will have to complete the Multi Sometime soon (TFTC)
What a clever little device! Despite it being another hot day, we jumped on our bikes with the sole purpose of solving this one. We had great fun experimenting with various combinations of switches and leads - and sitting in the shade certainly helped us see the light! Batteries still in working order too. Log signed and we peddled home with big smiles. TFTC.
Today is Kiwi-nomad day !
In the past we have done a few caches of Kiwi-nomad and yesterday in Blenheim we were reminded of how good his caches are. Today we aimed to pick up a few more in The Stoke area. We don't have bikes so we were on foot.
We visited this cache two years ago and though to had worked out the permutations as being 10x10x10x10 = 10,000. As it was getting dark we had to put the container back. For two years I have waited for another crack at this cache and today was the day. What a way to finish off Kiwi-nomad day.
This gets a favourite from us and we will try to get to the other Kiwi-nomad caches before we leave for home.

With a little help from eder-ents er mastered this sparkly one. Did need a bit of trying. Batteries are still working. Thanks
Many cache owners go to great lengths to hide their container and make the effort to open more than unusual. I think Kiwi-Nomad has really excelled...we gave up 3 times but a nagging little voice in our heads said..... " keep trying"..., and winner! we got there...thank you and well done, of our 600 or so from across the globe this one is up there with the best we have discovered...got to be a favourite.
I was with paddle chick awhile ago when this cache came up as a ftf as I wasn't registered then I couldn't claim it.So today I went out to give it ago Tftc Kiwi-Nomad a very clever cache .
My father was a sparky, so it should be in my genes. But today my connections were not doing me justice. Took a long time scratching with wire ends on screws heads before I finally saw the light which was a bit challenging in the sunlight. I also got confused with the description - instructions 3 and 4 it made more sense to me to substitute the word "on" with "off". However finally got coords for the final. A very clever hide and a fun cache, so much more worthwhile than those boring "park&grabs". Fav from me. Thankfully the batteries supplied were alive and well.
Had looked at the web page for this cache previously and decided that I should not attempt it solo, instead have a joint assault with StreetWalker as I'm not too good at following technical instructions. That turned out to be a good call because my contribution today was to find both WP1 and final, and to insert the batteries correctly while StreetWalker did the hard work of getting the "experiment" to work. And I wrote down the numbers as he called them out . Pleased we were in a secluded spot at the time, else passers by would be wondering what we were up to.
Thanks for the hard work in setting up this cache and for day #281 of my streak.

#9072. Troodles had printed the instructions for this one (probably just as well). It took a bit of trial and error to get the first three numbers, but the second three came more easily as we knew what we were doing. Good to see a field puzzle of this type that has proved to be durable! TFTC.
Had a bit of trouble searching for the first stage and in a complete stroke of luck stumbled across the final!!!
Nonetheless I worked backwards and found the first stage to complete it as intended - otherwise I would have missed out on the best bit of this one!
Thanks!

6658. Our last full day in Nelson and a long drive home tomorrow so decided to take it easy, not go too far or do much geocaching. Ended up doing some biking and walking and found twelve caches. This was cache number eight for the day and easily the best! A quick and easy find in a safe spot after a short bike ride from a good parking place. Loved the puzzle - guess Rodney's BSc including Physics was useful after all! the final coordinates were a little off but the actual cache was where we expected it to be. all in all very clever. Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
A walk, a cache find, a challenge, a search - found it! To be honest, it certainly didn't happen that fast...what a great cache, definitely a favourite. TFTC
Wow and double wow. KN you never cease to amaze!!!! It took a while to get the hang of just what was needed - - - partly because we didn't persist long enough to start with. The brightness of the day didn't help. Finally got some numbers, then it was just a matter of completing the trek to GZ and signing the log. Thanks for the work you put into this super cache . A definite favourite from me .
What a fantastic cache
Thank you so much for this one my absolute favourite so far
Kids gad great fun

Needed a lunchtime walk today and felt this was get-able before the threatened rain arrived.
I already had most of the coord from a previous visit, but my deductions of the missing digits had proved fruitless, so with an overcast sky I was optimistic I might 'see the light' this time.
Sure enough one of the two sets of figures was correct, but I saw what I had done wrong before as I ended up with a different set of figures for the second set.
I plugged the figures in and went round in circles for a bit, looking in a few very un-kiwi-nomad places before the rain started to set in. Before calling it quits I looked in one last possible place and to my relief turned up the cache.
A fun cache - recommended

Hi Tony, Sorry I missed your email get so many these days it hard to keep up, I see you found the lost "Sit A While" cache I tried to find it a while ago but gave up so put out Sparky to replace it. And seeing you found it thought it was worth another look, it sure has changed around their, the tide is slowly taking it all back, so I rescued the jeep TB its a bit big to fit in sparky so will find a new home for it.
absolute gold mate found it while still trying to figure out the lights but we finished it anyway, iv got my 9 out of 10 to day 1 more to try!
Excellent! But we're also a bit confused... We did everything right and found the FINAL but the log within was titled "Sit A While" and hadn't been signed for 2 years. [?] We were a bit confused but enormously grateful for the find. Definitely a favourite and a mystery. Dropped a trackable too.
Used some sand paper first to clean the contacts, but even then it took quite a while to find all LEDs. Got there without too many problems and the cache was a quick find. TFTC

I was already on my way here on my first visit to Nelson when I read that one requires the batteries. So I came back this time and was astonished by what I found. The construction definitely is a cool one. It might need a little maintenance. Due to the corrosion we had some troubles getting the leds light even with the right connections.
Great to see that KN is absolutely not afraid of putting a lot of effort into making his extraordinary caches! Thank you so much KN

Only one word to describe this one. BRILLANT. Being a sparky myself loved the puzzle. Havent had much luck with multis lately so am very satisfied to have solved this one. Awesome gets a favorite from me. TFTC
Found the first piece but writing on GPS too small to follow. Will print at home and like McArthur - return
Great I've passed the Sparky test so does this mean I can go on to bigger and better things? Your batteries are still fine, got into the groove but surprised where the coordinates suggested. So went through the process again - which proved that I wouldn't pass the first time. I knew this would be getting a favourite before I even started. Another magic and memorable cache. TFTC #5444
Half way there!!! LOVE THIS!! Just need to go complete it and do the final stage!!! Even tho we haven't finished it yet just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work you do on making your caches- they really are amazing!
Multi #5 for the day. I don't know what caused that! Ms M was keen for an evening walk so I talked her into an evening bike ride instead. I've been saving this one up just for this opportunity. Most enjoyable. Picked up the container and then we spread out on the thoughtfully provided seat to work out what to do. Took us a bit of bumbling about but we finally got the hang of it. Then off to GZ to make the find. All in all a good bit of fun, so worth a fave as I always knew it would be and then an enjoyable ride home before the rain arrived.

12779... Nicely done, took a few iterations before we sussed out the circuitry, loved the location of GZ, gets a fave from us, many thanks for a clever cache.
Makka pakka 2 went on a bike ride to day looking for caches along the motor way and back home along the old railway thanks for the caches we found on our way it made for a nice day out
A local CO asked me last week if I was planning anything special for find number 7500 to which I replied probably not. Just another number and not an even a 1,000th or a prime. However, as my daily steaking progressed and 7500 approached I realised that purely by chance the milestone would also be day 100 of our streak. No choice with coincidences like that but to seek out something "special" . And so this cache seemed the logical choice.
We biked to gz after dinner. 3 of the KE team plus a muggle friend of the youngest Explorer who had been caching before in Wellington with her Grandad. She had never seen a cache like this before though. We found the box and grabbed a nearby seat to read the instructions and set about figuring out the cool multi. Memories of Binary Battery (the original) started haunting Mr KE almost immediately. Took us a few attempts but coordinates soon in hand and we set off to make the find. Found the cache at the final in the first place I checked and then let the kids search for it too. Nice wee hiding spot. An obvious +1 from us.
Thanks kiwi-nomad for a fun and memorable cache.

I can only imagine what it would have looked like to a muggle if they happened to find me (or any other cacher) working away on this one in the dark (as I was)! Fortunately that didn't happen, and after working out what I was meant to do and more importantly which lights I was meant to be watching the puzzle fell into place. Rather sadly I got a broken connection between the brain and the hand and managed to transpose the numbers for B and C putting me about 20m north of where I should have been in a very undesirable location. Given that no other logs had mentioned mud or water I soon realised I'd got something wrong so it was back to the device and a quick rework had me on the right track. Like others before I found the final co-ords were a little out however a bit of caching logic had me looking in the right spot for a quick find. A great cache in all respects and thanks so much for the fun. Another Favourite from me.
Quick bike ride after dinner to make the most of the longer day-light saving evening. Found with Ducksarse Dave. No trouble sorting out the co-ordinates but trickier to find.
Another clever cache which Gorgeous Goose and I worked on together. . GPS did lead us on a goose chase but cache finally found and signed before it got too dark to bike home again.
A very pleasant afternoon for a bike ride so I dusted off the old road bike and headed out to find a couple of KN caches. This was the second one I came to. Found the initial object quick enough then it was time to puzzle out the workings of this devious device. I tried to interpret the instructions as best I could but it really took a bit of trial and error before the thinking light and the led light both came on. Once I'd sorted all the numbers it was a quick walk to the final cache. Overshot GZ by a few metres but there weren't too many decent hiding places to search. A really really clever cache. TFTC, Biggles.
lucky this ones not close to the airport. may have needed the bomb squad to do the workings. all in all a lot of fun deserves the favourite . tftc
A painful game so glad to have a seat.. Very well done. Coordz were out but found cache safely. Thanks
Day 2 of life after the streak.
Wow, amazing!! K-N you have really out done yourself!!
Thanks for a brilliant cache.

Reading the cache page just left me all confused so it wasn't till we got to GZ and saw the "workings" and put them to the test that it all fell into place. What fun this CO must have producing these ingenious things for us to scratch our heads about. New co-ords were entered then to the final GZ to sign the log. TFTC.
It was decided to go one step at the time after reading the instructions. A good decision it proved to be. What fun to get the final coords! The maximum time allocated between appointments and work was just right. The temp wasn't that high but no wind chill and a bright sun made it a nice walk to GZ and gave us a prize to boot. A fav as per usual. TFTC
What a great cache. Really enjoyed doing this had me thinking for abit then had the aha moment
Wow. Had 2kids along for the hide and took all our powers of cleverness to decipher this one. Being a little electrically challenged meant we were there for some time, but eventually we got some numbers and then the prize. Thanks Mr KN for your tenacity, ingenuity and electricity.
Found with B with the couzies along for the ride. Loved the puzzle solving, and the hide was a nice ending too. I heard Brocko met K.N himslef, ooh I was so jelly! TFTC. Faved it also
The listing was enlightening when spotted last night, so we planned a suitable bike ride for the morning so we could see if we would see what we thought we might see. No panic as we easily found the waypoint and the neat (not chaotic) contents. Close to our thoughts but better..... although the quality should not have been a surprise really.
Sobad made the connections and Mrs saw the light(s). Mrs entered the new coordinates and SoBad made the find.
A nice orderly team visit. Which of course means.... No chaos, panic and disorder SO your work is not done. We have favourite points to spare so are very very happy with that thought.
Second to find this morning after bumandworker. We see their log asks if the CO had more fun than they did . We think that honours are shared equally here for us.
Thanks... a favourite (of course).
Edit. Just spotted the placement date. Long time ago but a good time for it to be released.

Just thinking about heading to bed when the email came through. How could I resist a cache named Sparky, I was given that nickname years ago when I blew up 2 telephones at work with static electricity Arrived at coordinates to find the torch lights of hunterxhunters working on the box. Joined in and soon had new coordinates and then the log. Signed at 11.47 pm. Joint FTF Definitely worth a favourite TFTC

A little confused at first but we got the hang of it. Very genius multi idea, half way through solving when Paddlechick arrived, so joint first to find. Cache was in first place we looked. TFTC!
