We did not locate this cache - however whilst searching for it we did locate what appears may have been the lid of the cache. The caretaker of this historic heritage listed building approached us and asked us to please inform you that they would like this cache moved out of this building as people have been damaging the building looking for it. If you could please attend to this it would be a great relief to the caretakers.

Fascinating piece of history, thanks for bringing us to this part of Heathcote. Were driving through on our way home from Melb, and couldn't resist stopping for a few cache finds. TFTC
Found with Eminor93. We stopped in Heathcote for a while on our way back home and found a few caches that the town had to offer. This one was a quick find without using the hint. Thanks for the cache.
It is a lovely old building and on such a hot day featherdown and I were the only visitors to this historic site.
Obeyed the GPS and my interpretation of the clue and bingo I had the cache in hand. Not a moment too soon as it was nudging 40 degrees me think
Thanks Daisies of the Galaxy.

One of only a couple that I bothered with today as I was generally sheltering in the air conned car. Nice to visit this site
Thanks
Thanks
When I first came pon this i thought it may have been a powder magazine, but not so It certainly stems from the same era with brilliant stonework TFTC a sneaky little one too Dasies of the Galaxy
Found this sneaky little hide while down on a mine site visit in the area. I was showing a friend how to Geocache and this was a great introduction. Great history here as well. TFTC Daisies of the Galaxy.
After riding along the rail trail we rode through the school grounds and were surprised to find this historic building so close to the school. What a great "naughty corner" for the naughty students
Thanks for bringing us to this interesting spot.
Thanks for bringing us to this interesting spot.
Our search was interrupted by the lovely Robyn who lives in the house next to the gaol. She kindly let us into the gaol to see the inside. Interesting exhibition of artifacts related to the town. She knew there was a geocache there but not the exact location. So we all looked together and 5 year old geogirl found it. Love these geocaches as we have driven thru healthcote for years but never would have found this spot. TFTC
Mrs and Doc had a rare couple of days alone so we got to do some caching without interruption and this nice little cache gave us an opportunity to brush up some very interesting local history. Nice easy cache. TFTC.
This one had us looking for a while. Nice old building right at the school grounds. Eventually found the very sneaky hide when it fell into my hand. TFTC
My second cache for the day on my Giro d'Heathcote this morning
I found the way into the Gaol, thanks to a well hidden sign post
Funny spot, surrounded by houses and the primary skool,
but nobody was bothered by me being there
The cache was a nice easy find after soaking up the history of the place [^]

The neighbours were having a bbq, so we parked the ute to give us some searching protection, then just as we jumped out another ute pulled up. They either thought we were muggles and so left without searching, or just made a wrong turn, either way we were on our own and made the find quickly. Its weird to think of towns like this having large populations in the gold rush days... thanks for the history lesson and the cache.
Found while out with some geo buddies lapping up the sun and enjoying a day caching in Heathcote! Didn't give a toot to get a tour of the jail today, had other business to do! TFTC
The horse feeder seemed like the obvious spot and B1 made every attempt to find it there.
Look up,
Look down.
Look around
Until B2 said
"Here it is"
B1 went away a little bruised.

This is a very good spot for a cache. I had a peep through the door and it looked very interesting inside . I was surprised because I thought it would have been empty. The cache was easy to find but we had great difficulty getting the log out because it had been pushed in too far. We managed in the end. Thanks Dasies.
Mmmm Election day. What better way to hide from it than to drive 5 hours across the countryside, logging a few caches and camping for the night in the back of beyond.
This was my third find for the trip, heading from Wangaratta to Beaufort - already a third of the way there and a nice chance to break up the trip.
This is a great spot - I took a moment to have a look around before locating the cache.
TFTC!

Found this afternoon, did not even know this gaol was here even though my family have been visiting heathcote for many years. nice easy find as it was exposed, sl and replaced more hidden from sight. tftc.
Nice walk to tucked away little area. Quick grab and sign but had a tricky time of it rolling the bit of paper up tightly enough again! Tftc
Found 13:35, after a brief search, in the company of Muzza.
TNLN, thanks Dasies of the Galaxy.

Another nice and quick find with Biggles Bear. Thanks for showing us this piece of the past, and for the cache.
Have replaced with one new cache container and log, will see how this goes and hopefully it won't go missing again, will upgrade the hint to make it a little quicker to find.
Hi, went searching for this in every clue place on the hints section. However, dumb me didn't read the cache properly stating it is undergoing maintenance. No wonder we couldn't find it.
Appears to have done a runner, will attend to asap. Sorry to those who DNF
We looked but this little tourist attraction was open today and the custodian was very attentive so our ability to look was limited to cursory squints now and then between informative stories. Interesting history but no cache for us. Oh well, next time.
This one eluded us today. looked around a lot but the fading light meant we just couldn't get our hands on it.
A nice walk from where we parked the caravan and the PPPT caches. Mr downer found this rather quickly TFTC
Geohusband couldn't find it where GPS was indicating, so he decided to do a circuit of the building. I was spot on & found the sneaky hide, took it to the car SL and changed batteries in now flat GPS. He returned to car, got in drivers side and said he gives up and we would move on due to failing light.
Indicated he would have to wait for me to return cache - mmm - if looks could kill TFTC DoG

Travelling North to Echuca for the Anzac Day Event with Bettyboo3747.
Just around the corner from walking the PPPT trail. We thought we could cut across the paddocks (with the kanga bouncers), but there seemed to be a school in the way. We walked around.
Interesting history of the Jail and the adjacent residence.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 3134. Travelling to Moama today with Robmc and collecting caches on the way. We wandered around Heathcote and collected quite a few this morning. This was definitely a sneaky little hide and even when I saw it and put my fingers on it, it did not want to let go of its hiding spot. Such a shame so many old buildings were destroyed in the past but at least there are a couple left here. TFTC
Checked tonight while going to look for a couple of new trads on the O'Keefe Rail Trail, Good as gold.
Never would have known it was here if not for the cache. Good thing it was the school holidays otherwise this would have been tough! TFTC
Up from Dandenong visting a friend at Pyalond thought we would get some caches. The jail was not open so there were no muggles around .Looked in the spot three time before finding the cache . thanx again Dasies of the Galaxy for all the caching fun
I think this one has gone, the lady from the museum came and chatted and had seen it but it was not there now.
More a case of couldn't look. We strolled up to the historic jail to search for the cache but there was a tour about to take place and the very kind ladies thought we were there to join in, so into the jail we went. Can't imagine 30 men in those cells, would have been standing room only!
We thought we might get a chance after the tour but when we continued to lurk about they thought we wanted a tour of the old house as well. Had to plead lack of time on our journey to Station Pier to catch the boat back to Tassie. So obviously we'll have to come back another time when we're in the neighbourhood. TFTC anyway

Todays caching run is enroute to Bendigo via the Northern Highway and Lake Eppalock with Square_pegs. We started the day before sunrise with a crisp clear day and swung past here to find the cache. Ah, there it is I had it hand quite quickly. That Jail would have been hot in summer. Thanks Dasies of the Galaxy.
That is one little jail! I imagine it wouldn't have been a very pleasant place to be locked up in. Being a Saturday, there was not a soul in sight, and abl973 walked straight up to it. Thanks for the cache.
Sorry about the late logging on this cache, I lost my cache notes, and with the help of blacklegend, now know which finds I made.
Found on a day out caching with Blacklegend and Sportacuss. TFTC and the experience.
We got the full tour here by someone who knew my pop.

Found with Poynts95 and Sportacuss on the way to Melbourne via Heathcote. Love old buildings like this, and we were lucky to get a tour as well. TFTC.
A couple of young muggles led me to the jail. Who knows we may have a new caching team. TFTC
Nice easy find. Love caching for this arson. Didn't even realise heathcote had a gaol. Tftc
Took us a little while to find the right way in but the micro eye was in and the hide was soon located. Looks like an area with lots of potential TFTC
A quick find today but I forgot the pen..! but not so quick as a had to jog back to the car.
Found with Aveen on a caching run through Heathcote and surrounds.
A great hide in great condition
Thanks DotG

Found with stooy. It was good to see the old school where my dad attended. And all so the jail. Havent been here in a long time thank you.
1976th cache found by WazzaAndWenches. Log signed at 18:08Hrs.
A quick trip to Melbourne for an appointment gave us the chance to find just two caches along the way.
Geodaughter had her caching eyes turned full-on today and spotted the cache from the car. An intersting area that is well worth a return visit to explore further.
Thank you again Dasies of the Galaxy.

Took us a while to find this one! It pays to stand back and view from a distance! Another great cache, thanks.
Stopped for coffee and to stretch our legs. Another cunning cache. TFTC. Richard and Hazel. UK.
Stopped for a coffee on way back to Melbourne when we decided to look for this one.
Interesting building. There has obviously been many other buildings in the precinct in the past - lots of old foundations around.
Easy find. SL.
Thanks Dasies of the alaxy

Found at 2.20pm. The 2nd of 2 only from Heathcote today. I'm travelling through and just grabbing a couple of quickies.
This gaol is brilliant, I read the info board and had a closer look at the gaol.
There is a similar historic gaol at Inglewood, where I have hidden a cache. Comparing the two gaol, Heathcote's is well maintained, locked and is used. Inglewood's is not maintained, unlocked and is not used. TNLN. TFTC.

Parked car east in the bus stop area, being a school holidays. Headed up to GZ and found quickly and logged ... TFTC Another amazing historical building preserved for all to see.
This was our first ever cache and we found it! As it was our first time we weren't sure what we were looking for, but once we took our time there it was.
We live in Heathcote and were so stoked to know that there were little surprises all through our town that we'd never known about.
Thanks so much for piquing our interest!

The revised coords did the trick because the needle took us right up to GZ where an easy find was made. Fortunately the kids at the school behind it must have been in class because there was no one around when we made the find. Interesting old building that is still in use or undergoing some renos by the look of it. TFTC Dasies.
Leaving Bendigo and going home via a more scenic route we don't often travel on we hoped to pick up a few caches on the way. We found that the hardest part of this cache was finding the way in to the area as Nuvi kept giving us bum steers, once this was sorted out we headed off to gz. Once there Diane found the well concealed cache whilst we were still waiting for the GPSr to settle. At the same time we heard the nearby school bell ring so we quickly added our name to the log and returned the cache to it’s hidey hole in case there was an influx of kids. It’s a shame that the area was shut today as it looked as though it may have been an interesting old building to have a look through.
Thanks once more for the cache.
Thanks once more for the cache.
Filling in time before heading to Echuca. A quick easy find today. An interesting story on the information board near GZ. Thanks for the cache.

Found by Roma and Max.
We had problems with the numbers here and couldn't get our receiver to agree with your description so we followed your advice to find the cunningly hidden little container.
Another building typical of the history of this lovely country town.
Thanks once more D of the G.
