Continuing on this afternoon down these tracks to gather some caches. We like a quick & easy multi. Quick find. TFTC
Caching with my 2 favs Bogonghazy and Geo dog in the St Arnaud area. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing the geocache
Our second full day at St Arnaud so with no real plans we tackled a few challenge caches, ad labs, fire track series plus many others. Impressed with all caches found today. Love the area and know now our visit here will be too short.Got our numbers and headed onwards.Arrived at GZ and soon had the cache in hand - all good here.TFTC Tyred n Cranky#9545
Spending a few days in St Arnaud catching up on finding caches that I had not found on previous visits. This was a simple multi to tackle and the cache, in good condition, was a quick find. Thank you for placing this cache which enabled me to see this Water Treatment Plant.
A simple, but very nicely placed multi, which took us to a very important part of town here. The water treatment works on top of the list for keeping any town or City in top-notch condition. Nice to highlight it here; it is much smaller than many in the big cities, of course. It was in a short walk for us to GZ, where we have added our name to the log. Thanks Tyred n Cranky Domsky
**05/11/2023, 16:08:00****Find #5605****Multi Find #462**Day number two of our third trip to St. Arnaud. This morning's task was to finish the Eucy drive series but first a few other local caches. The weather was fine but the wind was perishingly cold early on.**Thank-you to Tyred n Cranky for placing this geocache**
*Found on the 5 Nov 2023 @ 4:08pm.**Cache find # 15337.* Out and about with biggles1024 for the weekend in St Arnaud. After completing the Eucy drive earlier on and a couple of other small series, it was time to clean up the odds and bods in the area that we hadn't been to on previous visits, this cache was one of them.I thought that I had already done this one, obviously not so today we did, the cache was found without any trouble.**Thanks to Tyred n Cranky for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
Went for a drive today to do routine maintenance on the caches in this area.
After coming down the hill on the other side of the road, I was over this side to grab the caches along the trail here. First one was this multi and once the final co-ords found, it was off to GZ where the cache was soon in hand. Log signed and I was off to the next one.
Thanks for this one Tyred n Cranky....cache all good.

TFTC! Didn’t have pen on me as I found it on my walk, took a picture of current logbook as proof.
Three Day Melbourne Dash
Day Two: St. Arnaud to Melbourne.
Weather: hot, hot, hot!
Todays multi. It looked like that there had been some recent tree surgery at WP1, but the required information is still there. A short walk to the final and as easy find. Is this sewage treatment here? It doesn’t smell at all. I love the two wind socks, and the “no bathing” sign at the settling pond.
Thanks for the multi Tyred&Cranky.

I wanted to find a multi today to help fill my calendar of Multis in a year, so every opportunity I get I take it. This was an easy find once the final coordinates had been located. It was great to be out in the St Arnaud bush again. There were lots of Paper Everlasting Daisies out in flower at their peak or just past making a high carpet of golden yellow.
We spent a about 10 days on the road with aqau caching around St Arnaud, Ballarat and Daylesford areas.

Heading back to camp I realised I was only 1 cache away from my 700th so back out of town we drove to pick up this quick mult on out last night in StArnaud before we head home.

Our Ford ranger caused a mass evacuation here as it went into bong bong bong overload. Fair dinkum, how many bong bong bongs do you need to drive a Ute successfully? I wish I new where the wire was cause I’d chop it.

Find #2796 for me. Found at 8:23am before FUF009's 10th geobirthday celebration in Saint Arnaud. This was a nice, straightforward little multi which was perfect for me this morning, as I didn't have much time to find many caches before meeting up with surefoot24, bunadoorian and Grub62 for breakfast at 9:30. Looking at the date it was hidden, this must have been one of your earlier cache hides, making it extra special. Thanks so much for placing and maintaining this cache for so long Tyred n Cranky!

Hey thanks for showing me where this facility is. It's always good to see how towns run, and this is nicely hidden in the bush. And what a nice, quick multi... thank you
Found during a beautiful day trip to the area.
It sure is nice to be able to travel around geocaching again.
A nice spot here.

Today we again spent the day caching with ian&penny and explored a variety of caches. Some were favourites but most were great in some way. Many thanks to all the owners for their hides. TFTC
#4099 Rolled up to the starting coords, Mr BGF thought he could decipher the numbers without leaving the vehicle. Nup, eyesight not quite that good! We then travelled the perimeter of the impressive facility before pouncing on the cache. Come to think of it we didn’t try the local water supply during our long weekend stay as we brought in a heap with us on our camper, but we trust it is a good drop . TFTC Tyred n Cranky.
Out after the mega event. Day 81 of our trip. Caching along the way. A total of 13 for the day and 2354 for the trip. TFTC
Day 6 Leaving St Arnaud area B and B to St Arnaud Campground
The tent is now up and we have had tea. So it's time for just a few more caches. So far today we have done the pipe series, black range road series, the bush wander series and the fire track series plus some stray trads and a couple of multis and puzzles as we passed.
The idea was to leave the B and B then head to Beckwood Nature Park for the challenge trail there and spend the night camping. It turns out i got " side tracked " and cleared every trail in St Arnuad forest out instead. Plus a good number of stray caches on route. It would have been more but i staked a tyre around dusk.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

#16754. Monday in St Arnaud. Day 1 Post Mega. Robmc and I have an extra day to cruise around and collect caches we have missed in the past. My poor Subaru had a definite dirt road, rock hopping kind of day. I am not used to that sort of driving so was glad to get back on the bitumen eventually. Found a few of the caches that were required for the bingo sheet - alas too late for that!
Out to gather just a couple of the outlying caches we have missed in previous trips. Like the way we got the coordinates for GZ here. Blends in very well. A quick find and sign of the cache and now off to the other side of the airport we go.
Always a pleasure to cache in and around St Arnaud.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

After all the official stuff has been done, and most of the cachers have gone, Bettyboo3747 and I still had one more day to go. We spent some time bouncing around the dirt tracks in the local parks, and collecting the few we have previously missed.
This is one we have missed for several years, not sure why.
Good to see where our drinking water comes from.
Thanks, Robmc.

The GPS told us the first wp was somewhere else, but lucky geodad spotted what we needed with his caching eyes. The GZ was a hop, skip and jump away. This facility does appear to be in the middle of nowhere.

Our last day in St Arnuad as we head out in the morning to melb to fly back to Tassie, so it was grab a few of the local caches we had overlooked and a couple of series's we had heard good things about.
This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.
The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.
For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

Found on day four of my St. Arnaud Mega event adventure and after knocking off all of the lab caches on offer, it was time to go grab some physical ones!
Stopped by this one whilst doing the FBT trail-it would be rude if I didn't! Anyway, did the quick sums and made the quick find shortly after. Interesting to learn that this is the place that treats the town's water!
Thanks for the hide, Tyred n Cranky

We always enjoy a Multi-cache and so we stopped off to undertake this one. We soon found the co-ordinates at the waypoint given and then with our GPS updated accordingly we walked on towards Ground Zero where the cache was quickly located. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe ??????
I've had such a great time with these several series of caches in the bush over the past few days. Today, I got up at the crack of dawn to attempt just a few more caches before I have to leave St Arnaud. Once again, I found myself sprinkling several favorite points around the area. Saw this one along the road as I was rolling through the FBT series and couldn't resist giving it a shot. TFTC!
Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.
We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.
Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. Once we did a loop through Stuart Mill, we did a final drive around the town vicinity finding caches, including this one. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

Back together with Tassie Trekkers to have a farewell dinner but we swung by here first to work out and find this multi. After being ‘treated’ here we treated ourselves to a raucous night at the pub (not that we knew so many other geocachers were going to be there until we walked in).
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for so many caches
When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

Day 2 - We headed out after breakfast for what we knew would be a great days caching. After the GIFF Event we continued on caching. The drive around the area was a lot of fun today. We only had time to complete one full series out this way so we picked the FB series. Quick find at GZ of this bonus Multi along the way. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky !!

This was the last cache for me on this bushwalk and in St. Arnaud in general. A nice stroll from Old Convent and back
At St Arnaud for the Mega and staying at The Convent. This morning I got up early to do a few of the FBT series while I waited for a weekly phone call from my son. Traveling alone I found seven caches in an hour in the morning and another four in a spare half-an-hour in the afternoon.
THis cache was in the middle of my journey so was found and logged.
Thank you Tyred n Cranky for this cache.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.
FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.
Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).
On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache Tyred n Cranky!
A nice and easy multi, cache was found all in good order
This morning woke up and set off to find some more caches and clean up the last few in the town, stopped by this cache for a quick find
What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.
Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.
Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.
Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.
Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.
Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.
Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

Multis are not my strong point!! I like ones like this though, the good ones that I can’t possibly stuff up!! Tftc
Out on a caching blitz with Kristysadventures during the St Arnaud mega. Great weekend - TFTC. I like the way the coordinates were hidden!
We overshot the mark to start with but the gps settled down and we found the directions of what we had to do. A neat find. Tftc
Got the required numbers and made the short walk to GZ where the log was signed. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for adding to a great weekend.
Im here in St Arnaud for the Mega event. After a full on day on the challenge and star trails, I stopped by here to grab an extra couple of caches to beat my personal best for caches found in a day. Previous best was 147 but now it is 150.
Thanks for the cache Tyred n Cranky.

St Arnaud Day 2
We are camped in the overflow section near the club while attending the Mega Event.
We have been travelling around the town & countryside searching for caches. This town has the most amazing & inventive caches that we have found in any area. The locals should be proud of what they have placed here.
Many of the puzzles which we had spent many hours pondering over, we had solve before leaving home.
Thankyou for placing this cache Tyred n Cranky

Here in St Arnaud for the Mega event we had a great day caching and exploring the roads less travelled.
A straight forward multi, cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Following GPSr this was close to the FBT series and did throw me off course a bit, not reading the cache notes while out on trail, was looking for what I thought was part of the series, then saw what was needed, and went in direction required, Thanks for this diversion, Tyred n Cranky
**This Cache:**
This multi looked like a nice and quick one to grab before we had to head back to the mega site to pick up ZQX and slowly start working our way towards today's CITO.
The information was found quickly, appreciate the effort you have gone into making a lot of your waypoints long-lasting and never needing maintenance, great idea!
We then drove around to the GZ and made a quick find
Thanks!
**Today:**
Day 3 of the St. Arnaud mega with DSD and ZQX!
Today's main goal was to complete all of the lab caches, swap pathtags, complete our registration, hit some of the traditional trails, some more letterbox's and of course the two events + CITO. We also ticked off a few more solved puzzles that were on the list! A 12 hour day between the first and last find!
Thanks again to all the CO's for your efforts

Stayed at St Arnaud for Mega week and Found your cache today. Tyred n Cranky, thank you so much for placing it.
Got a message from the lovely COs of this cache to say that WP1 had gone missing and they had placed a new one with new coordinates. So we went out in Friday to try our luck again. Found WP1 and the GZ coordinates easily enough but unfortunately there were some muggle workmen near GZ so we had to wait for the weekend to come back and find the prize.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for the cache and the great maintenance.

Did some caching this morning with ilook4geo in the lead up to the day's target series. Found what we wanted and had an assortment of different caches to log on as found. Some were individuals, some were part of a series, but each was a success story. Both names were noted on each log found and all were returned to position before we moved on to the next one.
This was a nice quick and easy off set multi. with good co-ords.
Thanks to Tyred n Cranky for placing this cache.

Doing some caching around St Arnauds in a pre Mega visit with goingplaces2. There are just so many caches to be found, so we are working to a list and enjoying finding some very interesting and fun caches. Thanks to each CO for adding to the caching game.
Nice quick multi. Cache has a fair bit of water but log dry. Signed and returned. Swapped some swaps for the kids. TFTC
Went for a drive doing some maintenance around town.
For this cache we have replaced the container seeing how the original one was always getting damp from condensation.

A quick multi on a camping trip away with the bestfriend and our 5 kids. Off to explore the area and some of the geocachers placed. TFTC!
The long weekend approached and as I was up here for the event in January and I noticed all of the caches up here and was told by numerous cachers that there are some high quality caches to be found so I decided to spend the weekend up this way.
After completing the Fire Break trail and bouncing the GeoMitzi around the tracks it was time to change tracks and tackle the LT series on the loop track.
Called into this one before starting the trail.
Would be hard to do if workers were around.
Thanks Tyred n CrankyTFTC.

TFTC. We decided to stay in St Arnaud after the 10 months to the Mega Event. There are so many quality caches in the area it is worthwhile to spend a few days. Today we teamed up with Bushfire to compete the rest of the BM caches as well as some of the FBT caches that he had not done. He also generously stopped at caches he had found and we had not. A great day out with 45 finds.
We were close by the Water Treatment Works so it really was a no brained to complete this multi before continuing our adventures.

Here for the '10 Months to the Saint Arnaud Event', event this afternoon. We decided to get an early start and find some cool caches, after the event we were able to keep on caching long into the afternoon. I dropped some rare pathtags in some random caches today. We were a little unsure if this one would be here with all of the work going on around GZ. Thanks for the cache Tyred n Cranky.

Day 11 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats.
We had set up digs in Bealiba for our three night stay. [8)]
Today our target was to cache our way to St. Arnaud and do the Bush Wander and Out & About series. Off course there would always be a few others whilst passing. [8)]
Still time to grab a few more before dinner so we started with this one. That is a very big SPOR!

A great long weekend in St Arnaud with JSando and the Jaktembo family of four.
We stayed in comfort at the motel, while Jaktembo bought their caravan and stayed at the caravan park, which turned out to be a great base for us all. Yummy bbq breaky under the gazebo at the start of the day, then kicking back beside the van with spagbol for dinner before heading out for a night cache or two.
We arrived Friday night, and did a couple on the way into town. Saturday was spent riding bikes through some trails, then after a feed heading out on foot.
We completed our first AR cache and Jaktembo did their first night cache. Sunday was walking and drive-bys. Monday, more drive bys before we left Jaktembo to it and headed home.
