Found during three weeks away with e.gregory1 on a trip along WA's Great Central Road and a caching circuit of the WA Goldfields. We travelled North on the Stuart Highway and out to Kings Canyon to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From there we headed in a south-westerly direction along the Great Central Road with a number of detours along the way, including Surveyor Generals Corner and Empress Spring. Then it was down to Laverton and Leonora before turning South to Menzies and Kalgoorlie. A few days were spent on a circuit back up to Lake Carey and around to Queen Victoria Spring before returning to Kalgoorlie, then out to Coolgardie, Kambalda and Norseman, and heading for home along the Eyre Highway. The WA Goldfields is a fascinating region of incredible scenery and history that we experienced over a number of days while touring the area. Very nice to claim a find on this old cache. Thanks for the cache Jane, Cameron, Ian & Monty!
Found on another enjoyable trip with FeatherWaite over 3-weeks through South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. This time the plan was to head up to Kings Canyon, across to the WA border via Uluru and Kata-Tjuta, then down the Great Central Road, with a few side-trips along the way before eventually getting to the Goldfields and then home via Queen Victoria Springs and the Eyre Highway.
We had some mixed weather to start, with a few overnight showers initially, but mostly warm and sunny days. Some of the nights were cold though!
After refuelling and restocking in Kalgoorlie, we decided to do a quick circuit out to Lake Carey, then down to Queen Victoria Spring and then back to Kalgoorlie via the Trans Line Access Road in time for the event later in the week. It was ambitious, but we had the required permit to transit through the Cundeelee Reserve and managed to cover the 800 kilometres within the 3 days we’d allowed finding all the caches along the way, including two first to finds.
In August last year I came out to Bulong hoping to get to this old cache, but unfortunately it was too wet at the time. Today I returned and had no difficulty getting to GZ from Bulong. We soon found the cache, and the container and contents are in excellent condition. No maintenance is required.
Thanks Wal for the cache. A favourite point for keeping this old cache alive.

Hi there Wal - finally a chance to get out into the real country for a break from the city. Today was the trip from Southern Cross to Kalgoorlie and then on to Queen Victoria Spring via Cundelee tomorrow. We found this cache at 0430pm after a short search - and the container and log are as noted in the Fieldnotes below. TN, LN, SL. Thanks to Wal for this cache - the 2nd of 8 finds for the day.
FieldNotes: The cache and log were both found in good condition.

We replace the container with a new clear Sistema.

We tried for this one late yesterday arvo but all the fence lines and no entry signs deterred us. We camped on the shores of Lake Yindarlgoorlda near the battery site.
This morning we took the northwest track from Bulong (from the bend at the end of the Bulong Rd straight. It was a bit rugged in places but we made it to 180m from GZ.
The walk to the top was scenic, albeit a bit fresh and we saw some sandalwoods on the ridge too.
Great cache. One of the oldest 100 active caches in WA.
Wal, I found Cameron's Cache today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Travelling the back roads of Kalgoorlie with richlink, using geocaches as our guide. We encountered lots of red tracks, corrugations and flies along the way.
Thanks, Jane, Cameron, Ian & Monty.

Out and about with ILT caching rural and red dirt tracks - our preferred caching. We decided to attack this one from the Bulong Road end and navigated to around 150 mts from gz. Cache found in good order Thanks for enticing us to your cache.
This one took some getting to, awesome drive and an amazing view, the wind in the trees sounds awesome
Staying in Kal for a couple of days & taking some roads less travelled, this was another cache that was put on our to-do list... We had quite the adventure getting to this one, after heading bush from off Bulong Road & somewhere along the way turned to the left following a maze of tracks up & down & along some rocky creek beds
Eventually got within around 250m so we decided to park up, have a bit of a picnic before heading up the hill to the cache... Once at the top the cache location was quickly discovered Sadly in this harsh climate, it looks like the container has completely disintegrated... We gathered the remains of the plastic container & placed the newly purchased container in its spot. Hopefully it will serve its purpose for a few more years to come [^]
TFTC Jane, Cameron, Ian & Monty [^] Loved this one... Its matches our caching style perfectly!

No log book or container just a few badly worn toys. Found where it would have been.
Unfortunately the box was nowhere to be seen and didn’t have a box to replace it. but all the paper was still there. Nice view none the less.
This one has been atacked by animals toys have bites out of them and box in a million pieces
I have made it a bit of a mission of late to chase down some of the older caches in WA, and attempt to complete my Jasmer Challenge.
This cache is one of the ones that I needed to grab to fill in a date period.
We made a trip to Kalgoorlie for Christmas to see the family and I made sure we popped out to Bulong for a day to grab all the caches.
This one was the purpose for the trip, it fills another gap in my Jasmer Challenge. A great find here.
TFTC Wal.

Well I tried this cache a few times. I only have the iPhone so the co-ords are no use. I've been lost, ran out of daylight and received dirty looks from presumed property owners, but I finally logged it. Waypoints. Lots of waypoints. That was the key. Tftc but glad to see the back of it.
epic drive in on a beaut spring day.
enjoyed the walk up the hill & the awesome views near GZ.
Disappointed to find the container & the terrain rating on this cache.
I suppose that's what we get went the CO is AWOL since 2008.

The container has disintergrated. We placed the log in a Chinese food container (sorry that's all we had) but the rest of the goodies wouldn't fit. Needs a more substantial replacement.
Attacked this cache from Bulong Road, the track wasn't too bad although the last kilometre was quite rocky and steep in places. Only had to walk the last 200 metres.

TFTC! Found during a 6-Day trip from Perth to Kalgoorlie, Esperance and back to Perth via many back roads and country towns. We found a huge number of caches, clocking up nearly 3000km for the entire trip.
The highlights of the trip have been picking up a bunch of old caches in Kalgoorlie and the surrounding towns, placed by some of Western Australia's first geocachers.
We ventured as far north as Leonora in search of our prizes even visiting a large number of ghost towns along the golden outback trail, some of the most amazing places I've seen in my life, see the pics if you want to know more.
During our trips out from Kal we think we visited nearly every gravesite or headstone in the region with the number of caches in and around cemeteries!
We completed a large amount of cache maintenance around the Kal area, with a large number of the older caches suffering with cracked lids, smashed containers, wet logs and alike. We planned to help about a dozen caches with new containers and ran out after the first couple of days. So if you're in the area please help out as best you can.
We also picked up a number of caches in Esperance placed by some of the newest cachers in the state, who seem to have so much passion and energy.
We ventured out to Cape Le Grande and picked up a few of the caches there, not quite being game enough to grab the views of hellfire cache but we grabbed all of the others we paid for our walking that night!
We even had time to place a couple of caches in my Country Cache series so please look out for them on your travels. Thanks to the locals who have kindly agreed to maintain them.
Thanks to all of the Cache owners for placing the caches that we found, hopefully you can place a few more for our next trip
Thanks
Needed this cache for a challenge were completing on caches placed my month/year, this one fills in an empty spot in the grid. Was very happy to finally collect it.
Started driving in from around 5.4km away as the crow flies and it was slow going for us as some of the rocks don't really agree with standard road tyres so we kept it slow and steady.
Cache located quite easily and whilst it is still in good condition the container is starting to show signs of plastic stress and it would be great if the next finder could bring along a suitable container to replace it with to ensure the longevity of the cache in its current format.

Went on a trip from Perth to Kalgoorlie down to Esperance and then back to Perth. Spent 6 days finding, hiding and even maintaining caches along the way.
The majority of caches were found easily and in good condition even some archived ones.
Took a few travel bugs and placed along the way.

Favourite point for this cache due to the long drive in and great location at the end.

Didn't have many caches left to find within a 100km radius of Kalgoorlie (3 to be exact) but after receiving some bad news we needed to go someplace quiet. A perfect spot to reflect on the beauty of the land we live in and to take some deep breaths.
TFTC Wal. This one, while an unremarkable bush cache to most, will have a place in my heart forever.

Wow!! The cache hadn't been found for nearly eight months, and then suddenly it is found twice in two days.
What an amazing game we play. Thanks again Wal [^]

Found after headed down a number of different tracks from Bulong. Some of our party did a bit of prospecting for gold while we hunted a different kind of treasure
Thanks for the hide bit of adventure getting to this beautiful spot. Tried to get in from the water towers but failed. Even through there is ment to be a road there as indicated on our maps. So as suggested by previous cachers we took the good road across from the homestead with the wagon wheels. We were soon on our way flying down the road ticking down the ks to the cache. A left turn along a 'Fence line' track marked on the map lead us close to the cache. Great views up here had a good look around at the interesting rocks at the top of the hill. Interesting to see a log book all the way from 2002.
After a bit of trial and error with various tracks we eventually made our way to GZ
As mentioned in previous logs the cache container was completely cactus although the contents are still dry. We had nothing near as big as this one but replaced it with a plastic fruit container. We squeezed in all the contents except one small stubby holder which we will add to another cache in the near furture.
(Photo of old container uploaded)
Many thanks for an excellent adventure Wal [^]

A short walk up the hill that probably has the best views around here [?], had me at the easy find.
The container is cracked at the top and needs replacing. Apart from putting in a calling card, I made no swaps. But I did remove the disposable camera that was in there when I discovered that all the film had been used. I’ll get it developed, and post here any that turned out (providing they’re safe, of course ). Cheers
Update 24 Sep 13.
I took the camera in to be developed but unfortunately the film had been completely exposed at some time and the roll was completely blank.

Nice views and an easy hike up to the top. Probably need to replace the container as it has developed a crack around the top from sun exposure.
Nice drive to get into this cache. Unfortunately we did a tyre on the way out! Was an easy find, but the container may need replacing soon as some of the plastic has cracked. TFTC, TNLN.
Had a good go at getting to this one, but had to abandon the task as the track got a little tricky for the 2wd car.... Will come back and have another crack with the real car!!! ??
Finally after a couple of wrong turns we got it, was a nice day for a drive in the bush

Found the cache. The track is very overgrown in areas and new fencelines dont add to the drive.
Definately only suitable for four wheel drives and it gets reasonably isolated so pack enough water for the trip.
The view is reasonable, however if you are after a view two towers has far more altitude.
Took bendy pencil, left bendy pencil.

Friends from Kal. wanted a BBQ in the bush so we BBQed & cached with his new GPS. & they are intreasted TNLN TFTH. The lid is broken so i wrapped the container in plastic bags & put some cover over it
With the help of the gps and the blue and yellow tags we followed a track of sorts to near gz. Lovely views from the cache area. Glad we were in a 4wd. Thanks Jane, Cameron, Ian & Monty
Adventurous in 2WD! Certainly secreted away in the middle of nowhere. Would not recomend taking the Camry there again. I too got the wrong road and had to cross fence and walk the last 500m. Great view though. Easy find once there.

This cache is in a lovely spot, albeit a bit dusty to get to.
Unfortunately the cache was strewn about on the ground, and the box for the cache is damaged. We did our best to salvage it, but it really needs a new box and a new bag. Took shel, and left a card kids card game and a wiggly pencil.

Great spot and loved the drive in, this is how it should be! Managed to do it in reverse, the road in from Bulong is enjoyable, only had to lock in hubs a couple of times. Thanks to Lyn & Pat, your substitute box is holding up well. 17 photos left on camera.
Were a couple of kilometres from cache so can't even claim a DNF. However we were chased and pulled over by an angry station owner who gave us a stern lecture about being on his property. Apparently there have been a few people who have damaged their vehicles and had to be retrieved by him. Plus a couple more of the destructive kind. He doesn't mind if you call in (house just opposite Bulong Rd entrance) and exercise the common courtesy of telling him that you are going on his land. Anyhow, we were no longer in a caching mood so licked our wounds and left.
It is certainly a interesting drive to this one. Great views of the surrounding bush land. This cache is one which you will need a 4x4 or car with some clearance.

Mr Hardingus had a crack at this cache whilst Mrs stayed at DOME having a catch up with friends. Had a rental car that was not suited for the approach from Yarri Rd. Had a good look at Kanowa Belle Mine while in the area. Decided to have another attempt from the Bulong Rd entrance and got within 1.4km before being stumped by a creek-bed. This Cache needs a car with significant ground clearance. Headed back without the find, as was losing light, and could not get any closer.
What a trek!! Took a Dr Who coin and left batteries. On the way back, found another cache so a double banger for us!! Thanks Daisy Ash and Zac

We should log this cache twice(just joking). We went out along the suggested route and after lots of scratching both our heads and our car we finaly located a track that took us directly to the cache. It was easy 4WD but if it was very wet it would have been boggy. Summer would also be risky if you didnt tell someone where you were going.
After paking the car we walked the 80m to the cache and found it full of water and cracked/damaged beyond patching it up.
We decided the best course of action was to replace it, the only problem was that all our repair and replacement items were back at Kalgoorlie. We contemplated what to do and decided that as it was in a great place and was an interesting drive out to the cache that it was worthy of us going back to Kalgoorlie and getting a replacement container.
We returned and replaced it with a new container and replaced some of the contents with new items and some with things we could salvage out of the old one. Some items were too water damaged. We placed the camera back in there but wouldnt be sure if it will be Ok or not.
We then put the cache in a bag and surrounded the new container with rocks and covered it with sticks and small bits of wood to minimise solar exposure. (make sure you dont drop a rock on the lid if you come out to find it just put sticks back on top)
After this adventure we returned back to to Kalgoorlie for a well earned rest. For those that follow us out to find this cache...the Bulong road is a much easier way to get to the cache if you want to make it less adventurous.
Thanks for the day out around Kalgoorlie

After a rough drive along the wrong track we came across the correct track which lead us to the right spot. We met up with the local farmer. He wanted to know what we were up to. If you plan to find this cache give the farmer at Hampton Hill station a call before you go in of the main roads.

Great cache!!! It might pay to be in a 4x4 if you try for this one and wear good footware... I was wearing jandels...not a great thing! Didnt take anythingo out but logged the visit and took a photo with the camera inside. Allow plenty of time for this one. It took us nearly an hour of bush/track bashing in the 4x4 to get too... but well worth the drive!
Found it second time round, can't imagine how we missed it last time (1 wrong turn is all it took). not much in there but i blew some bubbles, and left some foreign coins and some stickers. Cache is in pretty good condition otherwise.
Well, we set off at about 3.30pm on a fine day, found a track near the turnoff details and took it, passed a few dams, saw a few Roos and all was well. We then started moving too far west and there weren't any more tracks heading where we wanted to go. Serena, my companion saw an old drillers bulldozer trail and we followed, it soon petered out and we were doing some serious scrub bashing. We got 230m from the cache but it was getting dark so decided to turn back, used the trackback to find out way back to the main track but not before getting a flat.
Jacked the vehicle up, removed flat and went to retrieve the spare. FLAT so i put the buggered tyre back on and drove 7km to near the road at walking pace. the tyre was buggered by the time we got there and if it wasn't for the Sat Phone i was carrying we would have had to do a lot of walking to get home. Called a cab and arrived back home at 9pm.
Welcome to Geocaching.
Im going back this weekend and wont come back empty handed!!

Finally found this one yesterday. This was a second attempt, this first time, about 1 month ago, I left late in the arvo and didn't take a printout of the picture so was a bit pushed for time. Anyway, this is the first one I've found. Nice location, would be good to take some lunch and hang around for a while. I took the 'train' and left a shell which I originally got from Cape Leveque. Had a picture of me taken with the disposable camera. Keep an eye out and I'll reciprocate with another somewhere around Kal when I get a chance.
Cheers,
Leigh

Found this at the start of a four week trip touring the Great Victoria Desert with my father. We approached this from the south-east! The track was very rough and overgrown from that direction. 4WD necessary. Have to say that the view is largely obscured by the scrub.
