Enjoyed coffee on the beach this morning and looked for the cache - but there is nothing in the gap where it should be (where I found it last time). Looks like it's gone again.
It sounds like this may have gone missing again, so I'll be out to check shortly.
Just had to walk a couple of times through that gap! What fun. Cache high and dry, but the salt has corroded the hinge, and the lid fell off.
I noted that there was a second container beneath, but it was all rusted up.
Cache log is now full, unless people want to start signing sideways to fill every spare bit of the paper.
Thanks Dakotacats fun cache.

Found on the move, Dunedin to Invercargill road trip with detours on a magnificent balmy spring day.
Lived up to the promise of its name, and embellished by a clever camo job. A goodie, I give it a fave for location and place to go and visit alone. Thanks.
Cache find was straightforward, log signed; cache then safely re-hiden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Really interesting rocks, and a fun gap to squeeze through. Lid of container was rusted on, required our trusty multi-tool to get it open and signed. Closed up again ok. Earns a favourite from us: our 200th cache.
Not far from where we parked to walk down to Big Rock so popped down to have a hunt for this as well. Turned it up reasonably quickly - TFTC.
Find #1843. On a trip to Dunedin from Wellington to get Luke to Otago Uni. Spent this day exploring the coastal scenic route and collecting a few caches. Over shot the parking space so had to back track, but really loved the beach. Pondered over the cache location but eventually made the right moves and quickly spotted it nicely hidden away. SL TFTC
I gave up and was up on the road and decided to go back for another go, cant be that hard and was at the obvious spot.
Then found the well camoed cache.
Didn't look for the penguins but could smell them.
Tide out nice beach.

Nearly gave up. Muggles a plenty walking their dogs. Had a mans look where it was but didn't find. Aussie Pete had a look and bingo. Great camo
Found it. Took longer than should have, didnt read the name.
Finally found it, good camo.

Oooo is the old cache still around? This cache was my very first cache (dnf numerous times) finally got it so will have to come back to sign the new one and have a sniff around for the old one
Tried this a few months ago, and absoultely no luck. Today found it within about 30 seconds. Foudn with Lollipopcat and SpyDude13. Kia ora the cache dakotacats.
A quick easy find on a day trip out to Taieri Mouth. Don't know how we missed this one last time. Judging by the state of the cache I am guessing we found the old one. TFTC
There is a new cache in place but the old one seems to be somewhere there too. Despite three trips to find the old cache, I haven't found it.
The cache I found had logs going way back - the original I guess. All seemed in perfect order.
All good to go, have replace the missing cache with a new one. Would be interested to see if someone else does find the previously missing one. New cache has replacement log written inside.
Don't know why this one is crossed out been there today and found and logged it ty for cache
Here today to show people the Gap in the Rock - sad to say, the cache is gone from its hidey hole. Possibly washed away by rain in recent storms? Checked where it might have fallen but found nothing. Everyone most impressed by scenery, and some new plantings on path down.
It looks like the big seas of late may have gotten to this one, I'll check it in the next couple of days. Thanks for the heads-up daywalk
popped in during low tide, great spot for a cache and good to find it this time... tunfisk spotted in no time! TFTC!!
I notice that this is temp disabled, the cache has a place in my heart as it was the first cache I ever went looking for and took me three times of returning and looking for it for me to find it, I have done a couple down here (brighton/ocean view) but it looks like I have not logged them (and I did the months ago!) so am doing that now (hope this is ok?) This cache was so frustrating to me! haha and I live in Ashburton, so whenever I came down to Dunedin to visit my family (my mum lives in Ocean View) I would come out here and have another look, depending on tide =]
thank you dakotacats =]

The path lead us to a nice little beach which we were not aware existed, with an interesting little tunnel. The sneakily hidden cache took a bit of searching for, after initially looking very close to the hiding place, but missing it. TFTC
The tides were right so we stopped off to check the state of the cache. It will hold up for a while yet, will look at replacing it soon though. Picked up the TB we found, the junior dakotacat just can't resist them!!
Took advantage of the low tide to walk along the beach and show this spot to friends. Dropped off Christmas Joy TB, which is just small enough to fit. It will enjoy the scenery!
Well hidden cache. A young lady warned us not to disturb the nesting penguins. TFTC
We hunted and hunted for this one. Couldn't find it so we had lunch on beach and were leaving when we decided to take a quick look on the other side from what the GPS told us. Great cache. Lovely beach. Nice lunch. Perfect company. What more could a man want . Thanks for the cache.
Aw shucks. PC Sniff is munificent with his praise for my lunch and company ... but then I typed the log for him
Thanks so much to dakotacats for this one. PC Sniff admitted he wouldn't usually have perservered with one like this, and that made the eventual find extra sweet.

Tide was right http://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Brighton-Otago/tides/latest and wow, a proper track with a sign "Beach Access" to a gorgeous little beach where I'd never been before. Have to admit it took a good 15 minutes going through all the possibilities, even climbing up on top at one stage (because sometimes people fudge the terrain ratings). Back to the start, look at the first spot again, there it is. Nicely done! Tin is getting a bit rusty already - might want to start camouflaging a black plastic screwtop replacement at some stage. Thanks for showing me this amazing spot!
Got it on a return visit today. Good hide. The beaches were well populated with bathers and paraders today. TFTC
Took awhile to find, backwards and forwards, looking here and looking there. neat place. Favorite for me. Thanks dakotacats.
First cache, didn't find it, ran out of time but now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I know where it is, will go back again in the next few days
Spent some time fossicking around with no luck before the 'one more look'. Camouflage nearly had us fooled! Found with Aoraki Sheep.
First we were too low, then we went too high. Was about to give up when we made the find. Found with debsnz
Met up with fantailcottage and container quickly in hand. Nice idea. Rust showing on container.

This is a good little hide. Took a few minutes before the "What's that?" moment. TFTC.
OK. Back for my second visit. Looked up, down through and all over and was about to give up when I had a last look thinking, "I've looked everywhere else so I'll just check there before I leave", and there it was.
After failing dismally to get the FTF on this one it was nice, if slightly annoying, to find it within 30 seconds today.

Last search for a cache hide like this resulted in considerable merriment for Bitsprayer and Drawp but no freak waves or drama today.
A nearby family playing in the water were far enough away for the find to be made on a glorious day.
Thanks

After a fair bit of climbing and stretching and searching I finally found this elusive cache. With lots of suitable hidy-holes all about it took some time to track it down. Some effort had been made to make this one a challenge... it certainly was !!
I had a good look, and then went back after finding "Big Rock", but found nothing that looked like anything camouflaged. It might depend a bit on your exact definition of the hint, but I found nothing.
Was gutted to see a "found" log on same day that Hinemoana and myself had to call it quits after about an hour of searching each crevice and "above ground level". Hint not too helpful if camo job is that good
Not the most successful start to a caching adventure with Mrs AT - spent over an hour running between the waves, climbing places, and not finding the cache. Very nice spot though, will have to return
While rainypainy had a wee rest in the carpark adjacent to Ocean Beach Pine matukituki thrashed along the beach rock climbing round headlands on an incoming tide. Got to GZ and thrashed around even harder !!!! No joy at all Back to the car and off to the layby north of big rock to go try for Big Rock. While walking along the footpath we found an access way to the beach so went down and lo and behold it was the same place visited via the beach. Rainypainy had her "think like dakotacats" brain switched on and the the cache was in hand real quick. The camo and hide is second only to the WEKA'S "Questioning Our Sanity". Certainly gets a favourite point from us. Thanks dakotacats.
Fantastic camo. Looked at it and thought 'nah, that's not it' so kept looking. Couldn't find anything else so went back to it, and bingo - it was the cache afterall. Didn't know those rock formations were there. TFTC.

A bit of a scramble here and there but soon found the nice job in it's spot.
Feet still dry due to wave dodging skills.

Tried this one but hadn't located it when a group of muggles came down to te beach for a swim.
Next time maybe.
