I have been staying in Motueka in the caravan for a week - exploring trails in all directions on my ebike.Heading home tomorrow so a ride up this valley to grab a few on a mini power trail is perfect. Its very quiet traffic wise too which suits me. I had almost perfect success in all my finds with only a couple of DNF's out of 17 finds.QEF here... TFTC niteowlnz
I went over to Lower Moutere to get a haircut after decided to grab a couple of caches on the way home. Thanks for this mini trail niteowlnz

After finding the challenge cache on Rabbit Island and a few others, it was time to head inland off the usual route to find a whole lot more. I am enjoying seeing different scenery. Good to have a change of pace along the trail. Another quick find and then we left to find the next one. Apologies for the late logging.
In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.

Day 2 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
We had decided that we really liked the idea of heading back to Motueka today, so were happy to be taking the scenic route to make the most of the available caches to get there. This meant getting off the beaten track a little and we had a great time effectively following the Moutere River along the Central Mini Trail. We were initially nonplussed by the strange numerical sequencing of the series, until we realised that this was not the work of just one CO.
A quick and easy find for us today. Nothing untoward to report with the cache or log, so everything was replaced exactly as found and we were back on our way again.
Thanks for setting this one up.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
We had come out this way to do the Central Mini Trail, not initially realising that it had been contributed to by multiple CO's. We very much enjoyed the trail (despite the odd numbering system that seems to have evolved).
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ
---
Thanks to niteowlnz for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

(# 7869) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 2 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. A quick find.

A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee road trip to Nelson. Today we cruised around Motueka, after the morning rain had stopped.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I found the cache without any trouble. The rain kept from the normal parks, and this was a nice enough spot, so LUNCHTIME! TFTC.
Dropped off in Motueka with the bike and heading back to Richmond grabbing a few caches on the way. Enjoyed watching the swallows swooping around the cache site. Thanks for the cache.
On the mini trail now, and this was a simple find. As with many of these, there is not much parking on the road side. These are best done (a) by locals, (b) on bikes and (c) in warmer months. I fitted none of those, but improvised anyway and all was good. TFTC niteowlnz.
RG1972 had a cake decorating class for a few hours on Saturday, so it was my chance to fly solo and find a few Tasman caches on the back roads. I mean, the cake decorating stuff is actually quite interesting, but it was the fact they weren’t catering this one that sealed the decision for me.
In this little loop I had pretty good success - just the one DNF, but that was DNFed just prior to me anyway. The rest were all in good shape, thanks all COs.

Found with NZDi. It is Easter and NZDi decided she wanted to go to the Mapua Easter Fair seeing she missed out last year due to Covid-19 Level 4 Lockdown. Also we purchased a caravan late last year and as Easter is traditionally the last outing of the season before caravans are closed up for winter, we didn't want to waste this opportunity even though we have another trip planned next month.
So the plan is to set up at Motueka Top 10 Holiday Park for three days going to the Fair on Sunday, then on Monday look at the weather and decide whether to spend another three days in Golden Bay or head down the Wet Coast. In the meantime there is some caching to do.
Today is Day 2 of our expedition over the hill. Yesterday we managed to get what the purists would say was 17 caches, but two of them were Lab Caches so GCHQ says the tally is 25, and who are we to argue with that.
Today the idea is to do so local park and grabs, and as I wanted to do a mini trail towards Ngatimoti, I had to get across this side of town. I didn't realise how tricky that was going to be as some of the nearby roads were closed due to a drag meet (that's cars with V8 engines or rice burners with turbos, not cross dressers) at the airport. Having negotiated the detours, picking up the odd cache in the process, it is now time to start this mini trail.
This was the second of them and like most of the ones found today were QEF PnGs with nothing amazing to write home about so sorry for the cut and paste, but I guess that comes with the territory when you create a power trail.

On our way to another PWGT cache when we noticed a blue face on our map (GPS loaded with only PWGT caches, so only spied it by chance). Couldn’t miss the opportunity to turn that frown upside down especially as it had been waiting since 2012. Nice quick find – noted the log only went back to 2016 so maybe at some stage it was missing. No matter either way, the frown has been righted!!

I passed a lovely Daffodil field, just before parking here. Shame I don't have a good camera with me, but weather isn't too good either. Better day to find some caches than to take photos
On our way back to Nelson after a night catching up with friends. I managed to talk hubby into a few easy park and grab smiles on the way. Tftc
What number comes after 137? 178! Yeah, doing these caches in order is sooo not a happening thing! What is the gecache container? An emergency Weetbix stash container?
I came to Nelson with a bunch of objectives in mind - find some size small caches, visit the family - there are more of them than usual this weekend, visit the two adventure labs in Motueka, and finally sort out the last Nelson railway cache. Alas I forgot the adventure labs, and could only get half way on the railway hide, but I managed to tick the rest off.

Quick find on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon, there has been some great caches and a great bike trail, tftc
Stayed a night in Motueka, out early to find some caches before we head to Picton to catch the ferry. All good here. Thanks for the cache.
A frustrating day to get a cache today. The first one I looked for was just too blackberry and traffic heavy and hasn't been found for about 2 years, so will have to return to that better prepared. The second stop was blocked by an electric fence and there was no way I was going to stand in wet grass straddling it. My third stop looked possible, no cars, no fence but after a short search I checked the logs and it's got a 'needs maintenance - lost' on it. Will come back to that another day. I'm running out of closer caches, just one left to check which was this one. Pulled up and see electric fence running along side of the road again. A quick check of the map shows cache may be on opposite of the road. Check for muggles then head to GZ. Spot the cache, grab and head back to car to sign. Returned after approaching vehicles had gone past. tftc
Another mini trail cache, no problems here and replaced as found. T F T C niteowlnz.
Last day of the month and only the 5th day I've been out for a cache find, or more, so time to get some in before I have my Geo-licence revoked! And there are some more souvenirs being thrown around willy. And Nilly. So I'm up for a few finds and yet another trip over the hill. Thanks say the fuel companies, but that's my hobby. Targetted the area of Motueka and the back roads in and around Moutere but my planned 50 caches in a day was thwarted by mrs capperz's intolerance of too many p n gs so it was called off in the late teen-numbers and crept over the line for 20 in the day.
First up here for an explore along the causeway, and side roads, that I've sped past too many times but which were deserving of more attention today. Some nice finds out this way and some good old winter scenery to help the cause.
Souvenir gained = Hippocamp

nice one. a nice pukeke took off at the sight of me making my way to gz. a familiar cache was in hand in no time, much to the despair of everyone sitting under the tree in the shade that had to get a move on. Find #403
A really nice spot in the shade for a short rest and refuel after collecting the cache. Thanks.
For today I decided to locate and sign a few caches in the Motueka/Moutere and their environs.I had elevenes in Mot before heading back to Mapua via this mini trail.
Cheers for the cache.

TFTC. Up in Nelson for the long weekend. I decided to head to the Moutere area today. Lovely day to be out and about in the sunshine.
Thanks Niteowinz for placing the cache in this lovely area.
Thanks Niteowinz for placing the cache in this lovely area.
TregearP and I had some business in the general area this morning, so once completed, and with a bit of spare time we took a trip down Central Rd on our way to the multi at the nearby cricket venue.
A quick find. All in good order, thanks for the cache.

Being on holiday in an area with heaps of geocaches that I haven't found, I felt an urge for a splurge. JDScout and my eldest didn't feel like joining me. So I went solo. A power trail was perfect for my geocaching craving.

Today I started from 1957 finds and chasing down 2000. This cache was find 1973. Thanks to niteowlnz for the cache
Another that Mrs ToT quickly found while Mr ToT kept an eye on the mowing contractor just up the road. Put a replacement log in. TFTC!!!
Between me/hubby and kaleb we each get a half point for spotting it and then half point for grabbing the cache so far kaleb is leading followed by kaleb and then me so I need to stop giving such good hints. Loving this weather and looking forward to a couple more days before we head home. Tftc
Out for a bit of lunchtime caching around Lower Moutre. Nice spot here with only the occasional muggle to watch out for. Tftc
After making a hash of looking for the huge container at #132, we were pleased to make an instant find here. It helped having good co-ords and very few potential hiding places . Cute wee container.
Those apples in the orchard over the road look mighty tempting too. TFTC.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

On a bike trip around southern Mot. The weather was horrible but not too much for a bit of geocaching
Was a great bicycle tour with caches placed for a short break to catch your breath. Enjoyed the ride, TFTC
Jeez an almost instant find this morning almost a year to the day I logged my DNF last year. Nice to tick this off the list and get rid of that pathetic looking blue face I see each time I look at the listing. Cheers and TFTC
Our first experience of a power trail. Speed caching, what great fun. Thanks for setting up this trail and thanks for the cache. Greetings from Greece.
A lovely little spot - busy here when we passed .. Cars in a hurry to go somewhere T4tc:)
After the bad start at the first cache we attempted on the trail going north to south we persisted and managed to find every one after that. Interesting that the caches seemed to get smaller and the hints disappeared as the trail went on. One thing I did notice was the general lack of wide road verges in the Nelson region. What areas there are seem to be gates or drive ways and for us the parking seemed very dangerous at times but I guess Nelsonites are use to the roads. Good little trail nevertheless and we had fun following it back towards Nelson. TFTC
