Such a beautiful spot. A hidden gem that I probably would have never ventured to without Geocaching. The hum of the bees was intense as we approached the cave.

In Jurien Bay for the IGD 2023 and hitched a ride with Allied Oz and rokadz to find a bunch of caches while in town for a couple nights.
This one was an awesome walk. An email was sent via allied oz and was a collaboration between the 3 of us.
Thanks for the hide.

This was the highlight of IGD for me. I have been wanting to come here for a long time and today was the day. Absolute favourite place for me and something I will always remember.Thank you for bringing me here. I love it.Fav point added and answers sent in on behalf of Granett and myself. Many thanks Moneybox for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures. This will be my 7681 find.
In Jurien Bay for [IGD2023](https://coord.info/GCA9VEJ) this weekend having a ball finding heaps of caches by day and telling stories by night at the caravan park. A great weekend with lots of laughs, one to remember.
Met up with geotrakka and neva2old for a trip out to Stockyard Gully Cave picking up a few of the new smilies along the way. Well this was our main target today, n2o had already logged this one so we left her at the new multi to work that one out while myself and geotrakka ventured to the cave.
What an awesome spot, couldn't believe how dark it was inside and the hum of the bees was amazing. A truly unforgettable experience, thanks for bringing us here, awarding a favourite.
Answers sent with geotrakka.
Moneybox I found your cache at 3:13pm, this was the 21st of 26 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 8056.

Logged with permission. We were not sure we were going to make it to this one due to the rain and then discovered the south track is closed and the north one was not showing on the car map but we drove around, found the entry and the Prado made it along the sand with no issues. The water levels were up but not near the 1999 markers but enough to cover the walking track to the entry and we had seen the quick sand warning.
An interesting spot to visit.

Visiting first time in the stock yardgully tunnels and I really enjoyed my visit. Our geodog was jumped up the rocks like a goat but was a bit afraid of going down. Thanks for bringing us here!
THansk again Moneybox , you gave us something to think about here wit the formations Just over 7 months since we left home and stated our lap, just over half way in our original time allocation and not even close to half way around the country… 25,000 ish km done, gosh we have seen a lot, but there is so much more to see.
Perhaps if/we I stopped looking at so many rocks, trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… or the time we have spent prospecting, enriching our lives but not finding anything of material value, it’s all about the journey not the possessions. What ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
The last few weeks have been a bit blah with some bad news from the east, apologies for the late and generic log, catch up time a lot harder than I thought, I really need to make a concerted effort (even in difficult times) to stay on top of logs answers and photos.
Thanks for being one of the caches we found in the past few weeks.

A beautiful location, well worth a visit. Check everyone for ticks as we found a few little ones after sitting in the picnic benches. TFTC in this great spot, it certainly gets a favourite point
Staying at Green Head and ventured out to the caves, come in from the north (pretty rough) had lunch and walked the caves then exited from the South. We really enjoyed this cache as this is the reason I started geo caching but this one really made the kids read the signs and give me the answers thank you very much for this cache.
We approached from the north which gave us a very bumpy ride in - even after deflating the tyres. The cave system was amazing and there were a few muggle cars in the park when we pulled up. Gathered the required information and went for the walk through the cave with iluvtrekking. thanks Moneybox for the adventure although we suggest future visitors approach from the south (no need to deflate the tyres) for a much smoother ride!
Always love a good Earth Cache and we jumped at the oppertunity to revisit this fantastic location with richlink today.
Thanks MoneyBox, answers have been sent.

Awesome spot. Well worth the deviation.
Headed up the coast for a couple of days with Cravo10 and RebelJamie to cleanup a few 4wd caches and some recently published hides between Yanchep and Leeman.
Camped out at Sandy Cape which was great and had reasonable temperatures for our time away.
Thanks for the hide.

haha wondered what this was!! Actually found it on January 21st 2020. with a bunch of muggles!
We visited this earthcache in our holidays in Australia from december to january.
The night before we stayed at Lake Indoon - very cool campground.
First we tried out the road west of the lake to the south - but the entrance is close.
Then we tried to get there via Erindoon Road but gut stuck at a farm in a dead end.
All these roads seem to be closed by some mining corporation ..
Last we took the official attempt back to the Indian Ocean Drive, south, east over Coorow-Green Head Road and finally north to the cave over Cockleshell Gully Road - UFF
The last part is really sandy (!) - our fridge box hopped out of the brackets to the ground. We prayed that no car would come out forcing us to a stop ...
But all of it is very worth the effort.
The cave is a great walk. And there is also a traditional cache (GCJ1MF) to discover

I visited the cave not knowing what to expect. It was amazing. There weren't too many people around and it was so eerie and quiet inside. Tried to explore a side cave that we found only to see a sign inside warning us not too. TFTEC . Fave point from me.
On our way home from the Murchison so we cached out another area, happy to say we came up trumps and drove away with a smilie after exploring this amazing area. We were totally amazed at this hidden gem and a huge thank you to Moneybox for bringing us out here, a favourite your way. We have forwarded answers to the CO, TFTC
Up in Leeman for a couple of days and grabbing a cache here and there. Have wanted to come out here for ages so got the family in the car and off we drove.

Visited the cave today - no bats but saw the bees and lots of flys around, though not inside the cave. TFTC
We've visited the caves today. We didn't see any bats, but we saw the bees. Nice walking tour. TFTC!
Enjoyed a lovely day exploring the caves and learning about their formation. Have emailed answers. TFTC
Been here many times as the kids love it but first time we logged the earthcache. Definately worth a look if you have never been here.
I"m glad I had the chance to get out here as it is 4WD only. This is am amazing huge cave and I walked through it being pitch black with just my torch on my mobile. A very interesting location. Thank you for placing an earthcache here and leading me out here to see this great cave and learn more about it. tftc !
This was such an awesome earthcache to complete. I loved the adventurous ride in and the stroll through the cave which is so different from any of the other caves I've visited as it was completely dry. I find it very hard to imagine it with the river running through it especially with it right to the roof. We saw a nest with some little heads poking out so on the return I read about the swallows and insect eating bats. All very interesting thanks Moneybox - thoroughly deserves a favourite. Kia ora from Aotearoa/New Zealand. TFTEC # 11278
The second of two earthcaches found today on International Earthcache Day. It was a bit of a mission to get out to this one - fortunately our driver today was very skilled in her 4WD. Loved the beehives near the entrance to the cave - absolutely huge!! Answers emailed to the CO. TFTC
This location was visited by my son and myself many years ago, but really enjoyed the challenge of getting out here a second time, in search of a smiley, despite the relatively low ground clearance on my little subaru. Great visit again this time too, learning more about the geology of the area and how exactly the caves and gully were formed. Thanks for bringing back to this spot and for the opportunity to earn a smiley Moneybox
Stopped at this cache whilst on a roadtrip with Eliktrisiti. We didn't find as many caches in the Geraldton area as we had hoped for, and after being home for a week or so, I have decided that the motto I would adopt for these logs would be this: It isn't the destination that is important, it is the journey!
In a nutshell, we had fun and that is what it is all about. Great company, lots of interesting locations, good variety of caches, even got to meet one of the local geocachers while out and about, and of course, we came home with a whole swag of smileys.
This cache was found on the homeward journey. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Moneybox.
PS Will compile my answers and submit them to the CO once I have caught up on my logging.
PPS Didn't we have fun getting the little Subaru Forester in there and back out again. She handled it beautifully, but I woudn't recommend it - heaps of fun, but it could have gone badly wrong, especially if we had of met another vehicle coming the other way. All is well that ends well though. We got our smileys!!

Found your cache early this morning with yeatesy89 . It's nice an cool in the safe after a hot walk tftc
Took a drive out here while camping at Lake Indoon. The terrain was too rocky for our rickety knees to reach the further caves, but the first cave was a lovely walk with lots of birds. Luckily the bees didn't cause us any trouble.
Hi there Moneybox.
We found your Earth Cache **"A Cavernous Cache" ** at 11:16:00 AM today & this cache makes our find count 14529.
We are camping in Jurian Bay for a few days, on our way south from Geraldton to Perth.
Today the plan was to grab a couple of 4WD caches in Stockyard Gully before heading south along the coast from Coolimba to Green Head. - It was a very interesting day, the scenery was wonderful and the final tally was 6 finds and 2 DNF's.
The river was flowing, so we didn't manage to get into the cave, but we did manage to take a photo at each end.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Took a drive out to the Reserve with Peeted, christened his new car on the very rough road in. Beautiful Banksia in the area. TFTC
Found this cave yesterday, was such a great adventure. I wasn't actually geo caching at the time... So I didn't do the questions but still awesome... Bee hives were huge !!!!
Foxy_Oxy and I went to the west coast of Australia and did a roadtrip to the North and South. We've seen a lot of lovely places and had a lot of fun during our holiday!
First time we used our 4WD car for what we rented it. This was a lot of fun...and the cave and its nature were very nice too. Although I was a little bit scared of snakes

After having been to the East Coast of Australia in 2008, Puepps and I decided to visit this beautiful continent again. We rented a 4WD Campervan and did a great roundtrip along the west coast, south and north of Perth. While caching is always good fun (well mostly ) in this context it is even more for us: a great reminder and memory-enabler for places we visited and things we have seen! In the end we did around 4800 kilometres in our camper and had a great time.
This cache was one of our finds and hence represents one of these memories.[^] Furthermore, it was the first time on our trip where we really, really used the 4WD drive. After reaching the cave we got valuable lessons in how NOT to pack our stuff in the camper We had the whole area quite for us, so it was really enjoyable watching the bees and nature.
Thanks for the cache,
Foxy_Oxy

Found it on a road trip with TeamBastholm. If it wasnt for geocaching i would never have known of these caves. I will definitely be back with the wife to show here. Its an awesone spot.

Wow, had no plans on this one at all, quadruple bonus and thanks to Dimor and Mr Dimor, without his vehicle we would have never made it.
You can all laugh at the GeoJazz, great little car BUT as dimor said, would have been stupped within nanoseconds.
There had been discussion between them and m4yb being in the vicinity around the same time, so on the Friday we met up and did a few local Jurien caches, then Mr Dimor suggested this one and we were happy to go with the flow. What a great experience, another grand reason for enjoying Geocaching, not sure we would have even ventured out here, even if we did have a 4WD.
On arrival at parking spot we explored and studied the signs then went for the enjoyable walk down to the GZ, how amazing is this place. would love to come back, well we have to now and grab the trad close by, but not until the GeoYota is up and running.
Great big thanks to Dimor and Mr Dimor and also to Moneybag for making us study the area. Fantastic. Definitely worth a fav.

This cache will go down in our geocaching history as the most unexpected discovery!
As the story has been told by dimor and megawat60, we had arranged to meet up with the dimors in Jurien Bay, with intentions to try for Jurien Shack Legacy. When Mr dimor mentioned Stockyard Gully, I was blank as I had not researched this far off-road and beyond the capability of the GeoJazz.
Well, we headed North in dimor's Landy. Jurien Shack Legacy did not eventuate, but there was a surprise for us instead!
Off-road we went, bumpy bumpy but we felt quite safe in a good 4WD with a good driver.
Got to the parking lot and walked along the dry creek bed.... surrounded by rocks of all colours and shapes, amazing natural beauty.
Found the opening of the cave and despite not having a torch, we ventured in..... Wow! quite speechless I was for once...
Used my camera to see what was around..... taking flash pics then looking at the display. After a while we went back out, checked out the bee hives, and walked back to dimor's Landy. We then went to the other parking area to gather some more information.
In our excitement we had totally forgotten about the other (traditional) cache but that only gives the need for a return trip, possibly in Spring to camp at Lake Indoon.
Many many thanks Moneybox for this opportunity to see nature at work. A day we will not forget. And for this, a fave seems but a small way to say thankyou!

Spotted by Dimor in the car park and had a chat for a bit. Then inside the cave, 1/2 way through, met Dimor again. We stopped and chatted all things caching for about 1/2 hour under the glow of lantern and headlamp. It was just so nice in there, a respite from the temperature above. This is one of my most favourite places in the region. I never tire of that spectacular river valley. Thanks to moneybox for letting me log the find after emailing the answers. Oh and TFTC too.
Permission granted to log. Thanks
I asked muggle before leaving home if we would be heading here and he said No so I didn't both downloading to gps but while in Jurien and after picking up M4YB and Megawat60 down the beach he decided we should go. So up to Coorow shire at Leeman for a mud map as we couldn't remember which road we took then off we went
Had a laugh imagining M4YB's little Geojazz being big and brave doing the track in knowing full well it would get stuck within seconds
Arriving at parking area and reading signs then had a nice walk in checking out the bee nests. I've been here BC, before caching, but still amazed at the height of the gully walls but last time we walked all the way through the cave
As we didn't have a torch with us, left it back in Cervantes we couldn't go too far into the cave. Still went far enough to experience the atmosphere of it all
It is so lovely here even with the bees who thankfully didn't bother us. Wish we'd brought a picnic with us.
Got all questions answered then off back to Jurien grabbing a couple more caches and eventually back to Cervantes for some more caching as you do
TFTC Mr & Mrs M Not that we needed a reason to revisit but great to be able to do a EC while there
I know you said no photos of the signs but I'm sure you'll allow my pic of a Mr Moneybox lookalike that I found (no answers in photo)

Visited the caves on Boxing Day but couldn't go through due to bees everywhere and they were angry. It was quite a hot day. We worked out the answers since we've come home and sent them to the CO. All correct. Would like to try and visit again in cooler weather.
Great cache, thank you for the effort gone into creating it found the answers with AusAngel on a trip to the caves
After a rough ride with our 4WD camper. Time for a walk.
Torch? We took it with us. But shoot we need it? Yes we need it. Boy what was it dark.
Thanks for this adventure.

Tackled this cache from the northern track after visiting Lake Indoon. A bit rough and rocky in some places but an easy 4WD really! Absolutely loved this cache what a well kept secret this place is! Really enjoyed walking down the creek bed and through the cave but the thing that really amazed us was the wild bees! Their hives with the incredible wax structures actually reminded us of some of the shoal formations found in the caves of the South West.
We had a fantastic time here, Thank you Moneybox for this great earthcache a favourite point from us!

Really enjoyed walking down the creek bed and through the cave but the thing that really amazed us was the wild bees! Their hives with the incredible wax structures actually reminded us of some of the shoal formations found in the caves of the South West.

Drove in from the south and the track was fairly good for a sandy 4WD trail. Enjoyed the drive and the walk down to the cave and was amazed at the size of the cave. Thankfully we came prepared with torches so were able to walk the full length of the cave.
Thanks Moneybox.

What a fabulous if not remote spot. Really fortunate that my brother in-law had the necessary vehicle to access this area and spent the whole day exploring the other little caves. The bees can be pretty intimidating but thankfully they were in a good mood today.
Highly recommended!

After finding the Desperate Chasm cache at Coolimba we headed of to the caves and approached them from the south. School holiday time and quite a few 4WD's on the track which was in good nick. We had been here twice before but never through the cave. The first time (about 1978) it was full of water and the second time we left the torches behind...duh. This time we were prepared and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the coolness of the cave (38 outside). Leaving the cave we took the northern track which brings you out on the Eneabba/Coolimba Rd. This track was a lot harder as it had numerous outcrops of capstone and soft sand. After a few km of hard going I let the tyres down to 20lb and we cruised through the rest of it easily. This track was about 8 km long. Thanks Moneybox for bringing us back, great fun. (approval to log received).
Moses the TB enjoyed the cave.

We guess that the final question depends on the season... "How did the air feel inside the cave?" Exactly the same as outside: cool, dry, still. Just like a fine winter day, which it was
An alternative answer -- which must be said -- is, "Much cooler than outside, thanks to the insulating nature of the resident Bats." rofl
One of us headed towards here several months ago but ran out of time...
One day earlier, we decided to tackle the track in from the north... towards dusk... with an appointment for which we were already late. We didn't even see the track entrance. Finally... we made it...
A fascinating find ! Well worth our several attempts to get here.
Thank you !

10 May 2013, Week 2 – Day 12 of our Trip Around Australia (http://mrlocks.tumblr.com)
The Weather turned it on today have a clear sunny sky, a few clouds passing overhead very quickly with the strong wind but still very nice. I had a busy day planned with a trip to Stockman Gully to find Moneybox’s Earthcache “ A Cavernous Cache, GC40TXW”. We didn’t manage to leave until 10am due to the usual arguments with children, lol, but it was only a short distance away. We entered the Stockman Gully National Park from the South, driving along Cockleshell Gully Road which was a quite good gravel road until we came to a junction at Woolmulla Road, the GPSr wanted us to go right at this point but I chose to ignore it and continue straight ahead as the sign indicated. The road became a sandy narrow track at this point but was an easy drive as the overnight rain had made the sand firm to drive on. As we got closer to the cave area the track became a bit rocky but still an easy drive.
We parked in the car park and walked down to the cave entrance, stopping on the way to read the interpretive signs. The track to the cave followed the sandy downstream bed of the creek which was lined with tall white gums. Once we reached the cave entrance we noticed that there were some feral bee hives attached to the limestone walls. We headed into the cave which was quite a large tunnel and after a while we needed to use our torches to be able to see. Jacki and the kids turned back after a while but I continued on to the end then turned back and caught up with them at the car park. We then all continued to the other entrance along the walk track over the top of the cave. The track dropped down back into the gully and we diverted a short distance to see a small cavern which had been carved through the rock, then returned to follow the creek bed to the top cave entrance. Again there were feral bee hives, one was in the hollow of a tree along the track just a half metre above our heads, and more in the cave walls. We needed to negotiate up some limestone rubble at the bottom of the cave entry then continued into the cave and this time we all walked the full length of the cave and returned to the car. We drove up to the car park for the top entrance and went in search for a nearby cache “Cycad-elic, GCJ1MF”. This turned out to be a mission, it was a lot harder than it should have been. I was looking under the wrong palm tree, digging around carefully in all the dead fronds as Mrs SeabreezeOZ said she had seen a small snake! We then started to look in amongst a bunch of dead branches from a fallen tree but the kids soon bailed as they had stirred up an ant nest and quickly got covered. I did enjoy their entertaining “Ant Dance”, LOL. I then started to extend my search in ever increasing circles, eventually coming up with a find at a different palm tree than I had first explored. I would say the GZ is about 5mtrs south of actual cache, but was easy to spot when you look in the right place, lol. After logging our finds we headed to a nearby picnic bench to grab some lunch before heading out the other access road towards Eneabba.

The better half and I were out for a longish drive north of the city and had planned the trip to include this cache as I was intriged by the description. We came in from the north, (and the Better Half is still shaking) and had an enjoyable time finding the information and then walking the loop through the cave.
Although this cavern is nothing like the more known ones we have been too we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to all.
Answers were confirmed and it appears that we are the first to correctly log this cache.
The trip out was to the south and it was only slightly better but at least it was shorter to get to the 'gravel'. We were also surprised by the number of cars that we met both going in and coming out.
Have given it a favorite.
Thanks Moneybox for the cache and experience.

We looked high and low but couldn't find it. Good luck to other cachers
