What a glorious day! We were a little confused but then saw the footpad in. This would be a perfect spot if it was spilling. tftc
What a wonderful way to spend a day! Great weather, good friends, a beautiful trail, excellent caches and a delightful Queen soundtrack care of the trail CO! Thanks for the Geocaching Queens - Toyhunters, Barb2e, Joolay, Seach4, GLISS, Contesta and aykayem for all the fun. Signed as GQ16. Popped up here to check out the beautiful views on the way home. Sadly this one had disappeared so we replaced with permission from the CO. Happy caching everyone!
Cache replaced with COs permission at the end of a great afternoon doing the Queen series with a few extra caches for good measure. Great fun and great company. Tftc

Making the most of the opportunity to duck out for a few hours of caching fun as the Geocaching Queens for todays group. Had a go at finding this one on the way out along with a few others, seems it was missing though. CO gave permission for the cache container and log to be replaced. With Barb2e, Search4, GLISS, Nibbletricecrackers, and Aykayem.
Thanks so much for the cache Tankengine And of course for getting me out and about and enjoying this area too

What a great viewing spot!!
Took me a while to figure out how to get into those bushes. Started looking for grass that looked like it could have walked on few times. Found a spot. But then saw some poops. Looks like a wombat made that post its bed
Eventually saw some opening between bushes (near a pole) that resembled a potential path.
Also, what are the chances for muggles to show up! Had to wait for them to take some photos and leave

Out today in the Googong area to get some caches before we leave Canberra. TFTC Tankengine
TFTC. An accidental find. We stopped here to take photos of the dam overflowing and GH questioned if there was a cache nearby. I looked at the app and responded that there was one within metres. Seconds later GH had it in hand.
I spotted the spillway overflowing while driving down the road. Pulling over, we headed up the dirt track and I ascended an obvious vantage point to get some images in the last of the sunlight (after a weekend of clouds). After a few shots I asked GHJ if there was a cache nearby... yep. I was standing on it!
Dam still spilling today when we came out for a look and grabbed this cache while in the area. Good view from here. TFTC.
Fluke cache find. Was out here to look at the dam flowing over and thought this would be a good spot to hide a cache
Found this cache today. Signed dsd or Darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys to save space in the logbook thanks for the cache and the adventure.
Tankengine had some maintenance to do on his caches out this way. We had a window of opportunity in our busy day to come and fix the one needed as well as check on a couple of the others.
This cache: Pretty good views of the dam from here. We admired and discussed how these dams are made, before heading off for some lunch and much needed other work that we had to get done today.
Thanks for a great morning of caching and of course TFTC Tankengine!!!

Cache 5440 on 31 Aug 2019.
After missing out on our caching mission last weekend due to me being sick, Fox in Jox and I got our stuff sorted and headed out to Googong today instead. It was a glorious afternoon, and I grabbed around 9 caches, just what the doctor ordered. Fox was nursing an injured leg, so I don’t think I slowed him down today! He got maybe 11 caches.
This cache: lovely view of the dam wall and spill way, even with our ugly mugs in the way! Quick find!
Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

Day two of the Clear Water Mega Event, we came over to Googong Dam to walk the Queen Power Trail with the Toy Hunters.
Upon completion we decided to drive back to the base camp and relax a bit. But it is very hard to drive past a cache that is close to the road. So I stopped, popped out and found this cache.

So glad you investigated this lonely track Tankengine. Well, we guess the track isn't so lonely anymore. While out at the Googong Dam area today to cache on the Queen Tour as part of the huge MEGA event in Queanbeyan we decided to take this little walk. It was worthwhile for the view and for the cache.
Cheers and happy caching!

Day 2 of our Clear Waters event and Queanbeyan/ACT adventures started off with a delightfully sunny and fresh morning which allowed us to find plenty of well placed caches. We spent the morning in Googong before heading back into Queanbeyan to explore the city centre.
Amazing view of the dam, nice to see this perspective.
Thanks Tankengine for placing and maintaining this cache.

This morning I was fortunate to be invited along on a caching quest by the Ziggsta and Mavman. I wasn't the only stray they picked up with ozmilo joining too. Haha. Deciding to use real first names instead of geocaching ones, we came up with the team name of MEEL.
I had a great time walking around a number of traditional, multi and mystery caches in the dam area and getting to know our new friend MiloMike. Having sent a little lonely (definitely not alone though) the last 5 days, it was great to hang out with old friends and let my hair down a bit, singing along to Queen songs and chatting up a storm with the Ziggsta. Haha
Perfect weather. Best company. Beautiful location. Great caches.

Visiting Canberra for the Mega Event and having a wonderful time touring the city with my host and sister Tealby, finding many caches in the process.
Picked this one up on the way home after a very exhausting day walking around the Googong area.

After a couple of hours at the mega and some lunch, we're off to to the Queen walk. A quick stop on the way..... I followed the phone to the guardrail, then realised it had stopped showing 'track up' and was going the wrong way, we corrected, bush bashed a little and had the cache.

We decided to come out here first thing this morning so I could walk up the incline whilst still fresh, so timed our arrival for when the gates opened at nine.
Thanks for the great view, how spectacular would it look if water was coming across the spillway.

Attending the Queanbeyan Clear Waters mega event, this was a day packed with hikes and power trails. Our team "LUCKY9" started off the day walking around Googong Dam targeting the Queen geocache trail, before then heading south through Royalla and visiting Michelago, and then heading north via Burra. A massive day caching indeed in great weather.
A small scramble up the road edge to reach this one, and once up there, spent a few minutes looking for this geocache until I finally found it. The cache and contents were in good shape. Thanks Tankengine. Great views!

Day 2 of the Clear Waters Mega trip with GeoSon NationalSteel. This morning we joined Toy Hunter for a tour of his GooGong Queen series, after which we tackled some more of the local caches.
Another hill! Just what we needed after the Queen Tour, but we managed it and, after a bit of a search, we made the find.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log using the initials GT/NS and replaced the container as found
Thanks Tankengine for the cache.

Traveled from Sydney to Canberra for CanCon (tabletop and board games convention) this Aust Day long weekend. Spent a lovely sunday morning caching around Googong dam - completing the Queen Powertrail and a number of other nearby caches. Had better weather (albeit drizzly at times) than the ~40deg day prior! Passed 1500 finds today - and have logged slightly out of order so that cache #20 of the powertrail could be my 1500th ;p Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining these caches
I visited Googong Dam to have a go at Toy Hunters "Queen" power trail so grabbed this one on the way past. Thanks Tankengine.
Found on the way out before gate close. Impressive view of the Googong spillway but it will take a lot of rain to get the water level up there again! Thanks for the cache.
After a paddle on the dam this morning we stopped by here to have a look for this cache. It was soon spotted in the obvious place and duties were completed before all was returned to its proper position. Our thanks go to Tankengine placing this cache for us to find.

Today was Googong Day... Aquilus1 and I wanted to clear out the half dozen around the damn, get the coordinates for London loft and maybe collect it. Unfortunately there was not enough time for all of that, but at least we cleaned up a lot of caches and now know exactly where London Loft is... we need it for our JASMER month challenge which we want to complete as mush as possible of before we go the States next month.
Cant believe anyone DNF'd this one, it stood out worse than dogs testicles... saw where it must be from 10 metres.... through scrub!
Having said that, I have DNF'd many a cache that was sitting in plain sight, so I cannot comment! 150+ in a day would make the most resolute of us cache blind

After a week of sunny skies and nice winters days around rolled today... grey, windy, wet and somewhat cold! But today was set aside for Googong and the general area with GreyHams to target some sort after caches that filled gaps in our jasmers, and with our America trip coming up soon we were still keen to continue on regardless.
We got lucky with the rain stopping so we're able to get around to the caches on our list, London lofts coordinates collected but will have to wait for collecting another day, perhaps a day when the sun shines - that would be nice!
Nice easy parking and then the short walk up the track, GreyHams ahead of me had it quickly spotted while walking in. Would love to see this when it's flowing well, that would be a sight.

Today is the 1st of July 2018 and I managed to find 157 caches for the day. It was amazing, we did so many caches with only about 10 DNF’s for the whole day. We spent a total of almost 12 hours caching and I was dog tied at the end of it all. There were some highlights for the day, Joolay got her 1500th cache find, I got my 3500th cache find and Kitty Katch got her 5000th cache find. We spotted an Echidna, a Wombat and several thousand Kangaroos during the day. Not sure exactly how far we drove but it was many hundreds of kilometres. I love geocaching so much and the friends I have made along the way make it all worthwhile.
THIS WAS A DNF FOR OUR GROUP. THE LOG AND AREA AROUND IT WERE SEARCHED AND WE COULD NOT FIND THE CACHE. THIS WAS OUR FIRST DNF OF THE DAY. WE WILL RETURN TO LOOK FOR IT LATER. IT SOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT WHEN WE TRIED TO LOOK UP THE DETAILS OF THIS CACHE THAT FOR SOME VERY ODD REASON IT DID NOT COME UP ON BOTH KITTY KATCH AND MY PHONES. WE THOUGHT THAT IT HAD BEEN ARCHIVED.
I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it. Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with 157 caches in one day it would be too hard to write a different one for each cache.
Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was less than 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 3500 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 90 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Wednesday 3 January 2018 - a perfect sunny Summer's day spent walking approx. 6km around the beautiful green slopes of Googong Dam (Queanbeyan side) to find 8 from 8 caches over 4 hours. We enjoyed the gorgeous native flowers in full bloom with good views over a dam with a very low level of water. Quick and easy find AND great view to revisit when the dam is overflowing. Worth a favourite point. Thx p2p. TFTC Tankengine
