WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 401 - Beverly to York. After a breakfast in Beverly, I headed north along the highway, stopping for caches along the way. It is not very long to York and there were no roadwork's to slow me down, so I was in town before lunch. I took some time to wander up and down the main street doing the buildings Labs. I'll do the other set tomorrow. After getting setup in the caravan park, I too myself to th FOTT 4wd caches series. It seems the section I targeted was the roughest section, but at last some of the D/T's were great. I headed back to town for an afternoon drink in one of the pubs before heading back to the can park for a surprisingly warm evening where I cooked outside for the first time on this journey. Tomorrow is more 4wd caches and lots of rain, lets see how it goes. The transition to York consisted of roadside caches, some of which were quite difficult. Thanks for the cache Allied Pranksters47445.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Holiday Travel Bug Snow Globe Tag A#477**Albida**
Muddy spot***I didn't really have a plan today. Left home later than I wanted. We had thunderstorms in the early morning.* Most of the day it was sunny.* Spent a day in York and Beverly area.* Finding around 40 caches with handful of DNFs.* Picked up last bits of Hall of Fame (HOF) series and Road Less Travelled (R.L.T).* I filled one new D/T matrix combo - Mt Observation (4/4).* When I was grabbing lunch in York I recognised another geocacher - neva2old with grandkids. I should have said hello. * This time I listened audiobook: One Day.* So many ants also... and so humid.
Tijdens een familiebezoek en afscheid in de wijde omgeving van Beverley WA hebben we ook een aantal caches bezocht. Deze hebben we goed kunnen vinden. During a family visit in and around Beverley WA, we also visited a number of caches. Thanks a lot & Gday. TFTC! CachKet (NL)
Today is the third day of our short mini break in York. The long weekend has been wonderful so far . For todays activities, adventures , exploring and geocaching we have firstly decided to do a loop down to Beverley , taking in the Wandoo series. Then in and around Beverley itself including the Adventure Lab . It is our first visit to Beverley and we are impressed with the history and the upkeep of the town . All in all it was very enjoyable looking around Beverley and having a leisurely lunch, before heading back to York via the main highway collecting geocaches all the way. The morning started quite cool and overcast before warming up a little bit by midday , the weather is so changeable at the moment, we cannot let that effect geocaching though. This is the fifteenth cache find of the day along with the Beverley Adventure Lab. Now heading back to York along the Beverley top Road and this was the first of the caches along this stretch. Nice good lay by almost a drive by cache. Thanks for the cache Allied Prankster .
Drove from York to Narrigon for the WAGB events. Enjoying the caches along the way.
On my way home from Albany stopped for a cache. Not the first one I digged, tftc!
Our trip to Australia continued today from York to Narrogin. On the way we visited some Tradis, which are just along the way. Also some LAB adventures, partly with bonus were solved. In between there was a cooling in the swimming pool of Pingally.
Now we have arrived in Narrogin. Unfortunately, four months too early to visit the MEGA.
Thanks to all owners for the caches.

DNF. Seemed missing from obvious spot. Or maybe I couldn't see for the obvious spot. My bad probably
For the last two days the weather has not been kind to us. so we decided to concentrate more on lab caches and virtual's where we didn't have to spend a lot of time getting wet. We're heading from York to Beverly and the clouds were lifting so we decided to try our luck at some of this series and took the old road instead. We enjoyed the information about the Wandoo eucalyptus tree and will now be keeping our eyes open for them more closely.
We also enjoyed the drive through the farm lands which were all very green and scenic.
The caches we looked for were all located where the GPS said they should be.
We have added our name to their log books and returned every thing as it was
Many thanks Allied Pranksters for this great little series but we don't think we will get the rest for many years.

Just picking up a few of the Wandoo series while travelling with ilook4geo. All were found OK and all containers and logs are in good order. Thank you to Allied Pranksters for putting out these caches and for choosing hides with parking places close by (especially as we are towing a caravan).
Sharing the caching fun today with goingplaces2, as we went through York and on to Beverley.
Thanks for these caches found along the way. Signed each log and replaced all in the position found. TFTC.

This one took awhile to locate due to the long grass but the geohubby came up with the goods.
Interesting structure. Coordinates were accurate. A good hiding considering the healthy grass in this area. Might be a problem with snakes later in the season. TFTC
Heading towards RLT land and managed to finish off the Wandoo series to Beverley.

Nice hide. Easy enough once my gps accuracy became reasonable. With familysteiner tftc
Clearing up some blue faces on my map. The property owner arrived just as we were searching, remarkably he had never seen anyone searching here before in the eight years the cache has been here. TFTC
Team Red Roo and I had made tentative plans to tackle the FOTT 4WD series together sometime after he and his partner got back from their latest grey nomad adventures interstate. And they were gone for over six months this time, so all the solved puzzles, multis and whereigos just had to sit on the backburner and wait. But all is now good after a couple of fun days out there in the bush. We enjoyed the various types of bush we encountered but the wandoo forest were both our favourites. During the time we were away we saw emus, kangaroos, wedgetail eagles, red tail black cockatoos, parrots, perenti, gecko, galahs, twenty-eights, kookaburras, magpies, mudlarks, the list goes on, but what topped it off was the sighting of a couple of wild piglets (we wondered where the mother was, but didn't hang around to find out, lol). And of course, we found many, many geocaches too. This was one we stopped for on the way, and happy to at last find the last in the series here, many years after doing all the others. All good with the cache. TN, LN, SL, replaced as found. Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to come and find Allied Pranksters
I wanted to collect some more LGA’s in the wheatbelt areas and today was the day to get it done .... total round trip was 1250kms 15 hours of driving to collect 22 caches ..... Thanks to all the CO’s for maintaining there caches as we had no DNF’s for the day .
The weather didnt hold off today! We headed out in the rain to complete the 4wd FOTT Go Bush series. On our way out we heard that Goomalling had received golf ball sized hail. We continued on with some trepidation.
As we approached the Nature Reserve we were driving through puddles and leaf litter, little water crossings and water falls were appearing at the roadside. It was odd to see the foam appearing in the water. Hmmm what is today going to hold for us.
After successfully completing the series we crossed Talbot West Road and headed off to see what other caches we could find. More puddles but the roads were in pretty good condition until we approached Wandabiniring rocks and had to turn back.

We thought we might have to give this one a miss as there was a car parked in the paddock near GZ. But we realised no one was in it so we gave it a go.
The clue was helpful here and it didn't take long at all to find this one.
Glad it wasn't a nano on the machinery across the fence!!
Thanks.

Spent the day trying to finish off this series. I was expecting more leaf litter hiding the caches but most were quick finds. Lots of different camos and a few that made me think twice. Only 6 dnfs because of fire or verge clearing. Tftc.
Foo found this straight up, no deviation, must be getting better at this lark tyftc
After finishing the Wandoo - Bird series this one came up on our way home. It wasn't on any of the lists but it was easily found and gave me something to do at the beginning of a long journey home. TFTC
Up and out about early with Neva2old to claim a few smileys, we headed out to make a start on the Wandoo Series and any that jumped out along the way. After a quick search this cache was soon in hand and a smiley claimed TFTF

Thank you! I headed out with papillon367 to finish off this series. The two of us managed to locate most caches without too much trouble, and it was a great day for a drive.
Ullyssia and I teamed up for a full day of caching to finish the Wandoo series that we had started in January. We completed the "bird" series and found all the minerals. Most caches were quick finds as the coordinates were spot on. Thank you for the hide and for the series Allied Pranksters.
Last one before we hit Beverley and grab some brunch. Another nice quick find. Alll duties taken care of and off we go. Allied Prankster.
Found, this series is going to be completed one day, but not today! Good to get some more done along the way. Day 2 with axell33 on our wheatbelt run. Beautiful paddocks of gold, ready for harvest. So many great caches taking us to amazing places. Thank you for this cache.
A beautiful spring weekend for geocaching.
The last weekend of the holidays and what better way to spend it. Geocaching around the Golden Wheatbelt showcasing some interesting, beautiful and historical places along the way.
This is why we enjoy geocaching.

Found while traveling to Narrogin from Northam. A quick find and drive by. TFTC.
10 of 10 of the Wandoo caches found by us on this glorious day, as we slowly meander south from York in our hired camper van. Living in Singapore it is so good to find peace and space and there is plenty of it along this back road! TFTC
Monts decided today was a good day for geocaching as he wanted uninterrupted napping, due to keeping me awake most of the night. TFTC Allied Pranksters
Met up with ctvanderlinden and muskcat83 for the day in search of my 1000th find. Needed 52 to achieve this goal - we ended up with 101 for the day! It was a warm Australia Day, but a great way to spend the day in the bush, seeing kangaroos, wallaby's and even a race horse goanna! Thanks heaps for the series - we'll be back at some point to finish it off i'm sure!
Met up with ctvanderlinden and janssej for the day chasing a ton! We ended up with 101 for the day! Thanks heaps for the series - we'll be back at some point to finish it off i'm sure! What a wonderful way to spend Australia Day in 40 degree heat in the country side.
Spent aus day caching with muskcat83 and janssej and kids. Thanks for the series will be back to finish.
Out with geo-buddy hhheddy making some progress towards completing this series.
Thank you AP!
Thank you AP!
Found the cache on this visit. The area seems to be a little clearer than the last time I visited. The vegetation had completely covered the hiding spot so was not visible on the July visit. Luckily this time around it was a little more exposed although it did require some searching around. Many thanks Allied pranksters for the cache.
A call went out and a plan was hatched to tackle the Wandoo series. Very early this morning we joined forces with WebblyWA to see how we would fair and with the expectation that it would be good to complete at least half the series. We started and just cached, cached and cached finishing 11.5 hours later with 138 finds and the series completed apart from one that is temp disabled. Had a great day and a huge thanks to the CO's and those that maintain the series. Sorry for the mostly generic logs.

January's challenge mission for me was to collect at least 300 caches. Knowing I could get almost half way there with one series, I put out a call to see who would like to join me on an epic WANDOO day and Team Fratra was up for it so plans were made. We met up early collecting the first cache at 6.45am. Completing the series 11 and a half hours later, with No DNFs and only one glitch left on the map of a cache that is currently disabled. My total for the day finished up with a few extras at 140 as darkness, wind and rain set in.
It was a wonderful day and we had great weather for the majority of the day. Massive thanks to the COs and everyone that has put work into maintaining the series.
Cache #71 for the day. TNLN. A nice easy one to settle back into the series. Let the afternoons caching begin

Didn't spend too much time as I was blocking the driveway. Next time maybe - TFTH
No luck here today. Searched various objects near the tree as per the hint but nothing was revealed. My first Wandoo DNF thanks anyway.
Out to complete a few more caches in the Wandoo series today. I thought the weather would catch up with me sometime during the day but I seemed to be lucky and missed all the rain. I found the first cache at 10:46 and the last one at 17:35 before calling it a day. All in all There was sixty three finds and three DNF's, so a fairly successful day. This was one of the DNF's for the day. Too much vegetation around after the recent rains
Took a while but I got there. Thought I had the wrong clue item but there's a lot of greenery around at the mo.

Acetamide is a strange thing to find on the Wandoo trail [:o]
It is not really animal, vegetable or mineral !!
More like an organic compound
Not a nice one to come into contact with though
Of interest is that it has been discovered to exist out in space on a comet !!
Which is of interest to scientists as the compound contains an amino component ...
... the building blocks of life
Cache found
CH₃CONH₂

Out today to complete the Wandoo series. It has taken us 4 trips so far and today we had a few minerals and birds to go.
It was a great day for it. We loved the variety of containers, types of hides and the great drive through the countryside.
We ended missing a couple of letters, so we still have to work out the bonus box.
**Thanks to the COs for a wonderful series.**

Due to the +40 heat predicted today, The Wandoo series was highest on the geocaching list. This was due to being mostly park and grab, therefore it was 50/50 between air conditioning and searching.
Had a great day and really enjoyed it with over 100 finds and a couple of DNF's. Thanks for your effort Allied Pranksters
