Find # 14247I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 8. Homeward-bound.Day started off with a tree climb and a big stretch off the ground. Then a bit of a look around Mt Barker. Then it was the trails. It's been a while since I've hit a long trail and being alone it was just me and the caches to fill the rest of the day in. Some power trails are tougher than others, ie parking locations and barriers can be annoying and chew up time. But happily I managed all hurdles. Even the odd orb spider that made some tracks mazes. Happily that what I'd pland out fell into place with only a couple of DNFs.End of day was a surprise with my biggest solo grab of over 300 in a day. But I have plenty more trails in SA to utilise if I want to better that score TFTC Skippy.
Continuing the drive to complete this series, didn't stay too long. TFTC Skippy and adding these heroes to the trail.
Out with weredunn4 picking up a few caches in the Tailem Bend / Karoonda area.A quick find stamp and return here todayTFTC

Thought I would get some more of the wandering hero's trail today with Geopup. TYFTC
Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds.
That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series.
This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about.
Thanks for the cache Skippy.

Tankengine and I were on our way from Tailem Bend to Berri today.
We had plans to pick up a few caches here and there, concentrating on only a special few as we didn't have time to do whole power trails.
This cache: We just didn't have time to pick up every cache in this series and really didn't want to either. Power trails have their place, but we didn't care about numbers and so we picked the cache that had someone we knew, met or just sounded interesting.
Marcus Vitruvius was one Tankengine really wanted to get this one. I have met MV once I think. Tftc Skippy!!!

Day 319 ( Monday 13th ) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Karoonda today. A total of 42 for the day and 6209 for the trip. TFTC
After admiring this cacher’s stats for a while, I was happy to meet him along a power trail at the St Arnaud Mega. It’s easy to see how those numbers stack up - much quicker at finding and logging than me. What a machine!

Well, the Mega was over, my geobuddies headed back home and now I was off to SA to continue my geotrip solo
Moving right along on the geo trip and today's goal was to knock off more of the Wandering Heroes and OTD series as well as any others along the way. Most were easy finds with only a couple proving a challenge.
Thanks for the hide and for the series, Skippy.

Heading out for the afternoon to tackle more of the Wandering Heroes series this afternoon so this will be a generic log. All caches were found in good condition, unless otherwise noted, on an enjoyable sunny afternoon.

Our wandering continued today, with ilook4geo, along the Wandering Heroes trail. This was a quite good section on the trail in that only a few containers were damaged and need to be replaced. The log books also were mostly in good condition and there were quite a lot that had been replaced. It was a pleasure to find the containers in this section of the trail. Each found log book had two lots of initials added.
Thanks go to Skippy for adding to the fun of caching.

A day out with GoodLook on a mission to do as much of the wandering heroes series.
We found 150 along the way till we had to pull the pin and head home. Happy to find my 4000th at the last one. TFTC for all the CO for placing the caches. Some of the caches are in poor condition others are fantastic hides. We stamped all the caches with the fabulous randoms stamp

With our next milestone in sight Mr Emily and son came up to grab some caches for numbers and to make it easier when we finally finish this trail. Its nice that every cache is different here. TFTC
Heading north up Karoonda Road this morning in the hope of getting a few caches after we get to Karoonda for breakfast, this being one of those selected.
Thanks Skippy for the cache placement here.

We came to the area back in 2014 for the Mega and started the Wandering Hero's Power trail.
Today is first time back since then so we thought lets spend the day out here and do a bit more of it.

Container brittle and broken so I have replaced it with one of the many replacements I had in my car today...the logbook is not great but it has dried out and able to be signed...

Found whilst on the Fabulously Random caching trip [^] Feathertop and I have spent the last 10 days together from St Arnaud to the Yorke Peninsula, Balaklava and all the way to Murray Bridge and Karoonda.
Today it was sunny, windy, raining and we even got pelted with hail several time whilst we focussed on the GEOPETS series - LOVED IT!, the nearby fantastic OTD series, a number of Wandering Heroes and some random caches - I was exhausted by the time I rolled into bed, but what a fantastic day we had.
Please note: our combined team name today was "Fabulous Randoms" and that is how the 'millions' of log books have been stamped (bar a few with our actual caching names in them).
Thanks so much for the cache Skippy.!

What a difference a day makes!
Yesterday it was hot and windy, today cloudy skies rain and hail!
Goodlook and I made our way to do about 40 of the Wandering Heroes caches that have cropped up since my last visit up here about 3 years ago.
Some of the containers are showing their age others endure well.
Still mindful of widlife when I spotted an enourmous dead snake beside the road later on.
I haven't met Marcus V in ages but always admired his caching style from afar
Thanks to all the cache owners who continue to populate this trail

Today being a big day we continued on with the Wandering Heroes series. Some we found challenging and others easily, we replaced some cache containers and replaced new zip locked bags to keep the log protected as containers were damaged.
Thanks for placing these cache for our enjoyment.

This series is close by where I live in Murray Bridge and I am slowly working through the series as time permits. Today I marked off 13 more. I must remember to revisit the area when I have some replacement containers as some are deteriorating badly. TFTC>
Found with FerociousFlea on our 2017 June Long Weekend Wandering Heroes Caching Run. Totals included 155 on Saturday, 176 on Sunday and 6 early Monday, making for 337 caches in a little over 48 hours.
Thanks to all of the cache owners and caching teams that have this series named after them. Thanks also to those who make the effort to maintain other's caches so that people like us can do these caching runs. Apologies for the generic logs...

Day 5 of our SA jaunt had us targeting the Wandering Heroes series and anything else that took our fancy [^]. We camped last night at Tailem Bend and we are unsure how far todays travels will take us
I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here . I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area . We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome
A massive thanks here to Skippy. for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!
jinta29 found your cache Wandering Heroes ... Marcus Vitruvius today. This is my find #7692 and find #103 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again Skippy. for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

Found the lid first then the cache, it is definitely in need of maintenance. Love these caches thanks for the trail, heading down towards Tailem Bend to meet up with the ones we have done in the past. TFTC and trail
We have had two previous attempts at this amazing trail , so have returned this year to get some of the ones we missed previously and some that have been placed since we were last there. Lovely to do caches with names we recognise from caches we have done and people we have met at various events. Thanks for placing and maintaining this great trail Most caches were in good condition
A quick and easy drive by as we cache our way through this series. A bit too easy actually, we found this one lying in the gutter. We tucked it away at gz according to our machines. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.
Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. TheCatBandit family set off early this morning with a goal of 50 cache finds wanted to leave some for another run during the school holidays we found 55 once you start it really is hard to stop lol. Had a great family day out beautiful weather. Found cache without to much trouble TFTC sorry for the generic logs on some.

After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!
One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!
I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.
Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.
After this I cut through to Wandering Heroes and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heroes.
From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.
441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.
Thanks for all the wonderful caches around this area, and sorry for generic logs.

Went out towards Karoonda to try and clean up some more wandering heroes caches and found around 60. It was a great day with my grandpa and mum.

Used to hear about the exploits of MV on Geotalk at times! Found on a cold and wintry Easter Monday with messy61 and labchick. Our last cache as the rain settled in and we raced back to Karoonda to grab a coffee before the café closed. Cache #2137.
Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.

Found on day three of our attempt on the Wandering Heroes series. Again it was a fairly warm day so made an early start to try to avoid the warmest part of the day. We were going well until we encountered roadworks and had skip a chunk but hopefully will get another go at those ones. TFTC and the series.
We headed out with us and harleyjohn to achieve some smileys on the wandering heroes caches. We aim to get to our namesake cache. Leaving home at 7 am we set off through the back road's heading to Karoonda. What did we see?

The Parrots are on holidays and on a quest to find 8000 caches before returning to duty.
Had a fantastic day folling heroes.
Only saw one cache that had eclipse tins in it.
over 100 finds and mints on my last cache of the day.
This must be some sort of record for me.
Loved driving beside the track as I didnt like some of those roadside stops with the trucks thundering past.
A great day out and in the afternoon we headed to Loxton Hotel for the night.
Fiona O'Loughlin is performing here tonight but unfortunately it is sold out.
Tomorrow back down the road to find some more.

Out for yet another weekend of hanging out and caching with Sylken. The plan for this weekend was to take another crack at the Wandering Heroes power trail (when we made our first attempt in January 2012 we foolishly thought we might tackle the whole thing in one day!! Lol! The series was only abut 160 at that time...) When the temp is 35C, that seems rather unrealistic... It was 35C the first time we attempted this series, and 35C again today... it seems that we're starting to make a habit of hot caching expeditions. But now the powertrail has upwards of 300 in it, I think anyone would be hard pressed to bag that many in one day!
We still didn't manage to complete the trail, so we'll just have to see if we can find another 35C day to get the rest...
Thanks you to all the cache owners for their recognition of fellow cachers, and their efforts in hiding and maintaining the series. An honourable mention to CPWanderer who started this whole lark off in the first place

We are currently staying in Murray Bridge for a few weeks attempting some of the many caches available in the area. Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here for a second run at the Wandering Heroes series....our first was in January 2012. The series has expanded somewhat since then so we had endless opportunities
We finished the day with 114 finds and not a single DNF. Some caches are particularly inventive and a great tribute to the teams they are honouring. It is so nice to do a big power trail and have various types of hides....I guess the benefit of having lots of different CO's
As usual with power trails we too are writing a generic log, just adding a few extra words to caches that needed extra comments. That however doesn't detract from the gratitude we feel for all the CO's that have hidden caches along this trail....thank you one and all.
Thanks again for the hide Skippy[^]

Had a little trouble with this one. Our GPS was about 5m away. Stamped and returned as found.
We had planned a family geo trip a few weeks ago and I left it up to the geo wife to decide where she wanted to go. Murray Bridge was one of three places to visit. Lucky she decided on this area, so we could try for 200+ in a day [^] Sometimes the parking was very difficult being double white lines and plenty of passing cars, having a companion to drive / swap with made this series that little bit easier. It was a very hot day & plenty of hours were spent in the car with much water needed. We found some great containers & loved the idea of this series. Now to rest the wheels....
[blue]Thanks for this cache, Skippy & to everyone for the series TNLN[/blue]

Day 1 of a 2 day caching feast on the Karoonda Highway. Can we make Karoonda by night fall team? With nose bag and water for the day we set off, head down bum up. What a fabulous series to keep us occupied and smiling.
Our aim was to get at least 80 today on the WH trail after visiting relies in ADE. We drove to Karoonda and worked our way back to TB. Exhausted now! Thank you to all the cache owners for placement. Our big 1000 milestone will now be next weekend. TFTC

So the weather was really nice and we had nothing planned for the afternoon. What better family outing could there be but a drive in the country? While we were at it we decided to clean up a few Wandering Heroes series, since we haven't been along here for a couple of years.
Wow, there are so many new caches along here! Probably 80-100 still that we haven't found. We're going to need to plan a solid day of caching to come back and finish them off! Thanks to all of the cache owners for adding to this awesome series, and congratulations to all of the cachers who were lucky enough to be immortalised with their own WH cache!

Stopped to find a few caches on our way home from the offroad racing at Wynarka today...TFTC
03/08/2014, 12:42:00 PM, GAFF1, On a return trip catching up on some caches I missed during the Oz Mega earlier this year.
We have met Marcus during various events over the years, sometimes popping at up remote caches unexpected
The actual cache was found on the side of the road out in the open, I have relocated the cache just off the road to prevent any damage.
SL, Cache in good condition.
TFTC Skippy.

On the way to a geocaching event at Berri and taking the opportunity to find some more of the WH series. Dodging showers and enjoying the variety of caches in this series. Thanks to all the owners for their contribution to the series.
Found It!
I don't think I've meet Mr MV yet and again, another PM only cache so I can't even read about all the things he's done
TFTC anyway

After spending one night at Tailem Bend I was then off to finish the Wandering Heroes Series. Thanks to all who put the caches out to honour the heroes. Some of the containers are brilliantly created.
Thanks Skippy. for the cache

One of my challenges I set myself for my trip to the SA MEGA was to see how many caches I could find in 24 hours.
Today was the day. I parked the car the night before out at the furtherest point of the caches of the OZ MEGA 2014 and slept the night there with the alarm set for just before midnight.
My aim was to complete the OZ MEGA 2014 caches then start along the Wandering Heros series and see how far I got.
At midnight I started. With no one else on the roads I moved quickly along each of the roads looking for those little 'suspicious piles of stones'. By 6 am I had just the arrow head to go. I stopped the car and changed clothes as I was getting hot in the thermals. ... and the car would not start. 2 hours later the RAA turned up and said I had a flat battery. [?] [?] [?]
Found the remaining caches (except the couple that are now missing) and headed south for the Wandering Heros series finding the odd one along the road.[^]
The Wandering Hero series are different containers at different distances from the road so they were a little trickier to find at times and my find rate slowed down a little. Slowly the day continued and my count continued to grow, passing 200 and 300. Just after 7:30pm I passed 400 caches and I eventually stopped at 8pm exhausted just before Mindarie.
20 hours and just over 400 caches.
Apologies for the cut and paste logs.

Found this cache while In SA to attend Oz Mega. Travelled today from Tailem Bend to Sandalwood.. Enjoyed the variety of caches along the way and the many novel hides. Thanks for your cache Skippy.

Suscoe headed out this afternoon after relocating to Karoonda for a bit of caching fun in the company of Phetlern.
Logs were signed in a combination of ways with Suscoe, Phetlern where we had overlapped on previous visits and S and P where we were both logging for the first time.
Another delightful day even if it was a little windy.
This cache was one of 61 finds for the afternoon.
Thanks to Skippy for placing this cache.

Found heading towards home with DazRascal after a wonderful Oz Mega weekend in Murray Bridge.
Unfortunately time doesn't permit for the whole series today, so stopped for some people we knew or where it was safe to pull the car & camper over .
Many thanks for your contribution to this ever expanding series.
MV isn't just another cacher to us, he's one of our closest friends along with his beautiful family.
He is one of the most genuine, honest and intelligent people we've met & so glad this crazy hobby of ours bought us to be friends.
Marcus was one of the first cachers we met in the "wild" and he was like a movie star to us back then when he had a few thousand finds & we had 50
We've spent many many hours talking caching, 1000's of texts, finding containers, puzzling, laughs and tears. [^]
We were honoured to host his 10,000th milestone event in our hometown of Albury/Wodonga, right where MV started his caching career.
A true champ and an asset to the Geocaching community.
He has some excellent challenging puzzles and caches to be found & he's more than happy to offer advice and assistance to other cachers. [^]
TNLN SL Cheers.

Out and about on this fine day with fellow cacher friends Liz and Bruce doing a lot of the Wandering heroes caches and close by ones. Many thanks to all that hide them and for there upkeep. Sorry for the late log and copy and paste.

We teamed up again with Suscoe for a Post Mega tilt at the Wandering Heroes to extend our line of smilies towards "the end" - a never ending story we suspect! We actually met a number of these Heroes at the Mega and were hoping to find caches typifying them or their hiding style. As it was we had fun learning about their backgrounds and adventures thru' the detailed cache notes.
Thanks to Skippy. for the cache.

What a week this has been at the Oz Mega Event in Murray Bridge SA. I have so many caches to log so it will have to be a cut and paste log because of the numbers but this does not mean that that I don't appreciate the effort that all the cache owners have put in to hide these caches because without the hiders we would not have the pleasure of finding the vast number of caches that have been placed in this area and also the owners of caches along the roads that we have to travel to arrive in M.B and return back to our homes.
I left Geelong on Wednesday 16th April 2014 and arrived home a week later with close to 500 caches found and now the mammoth task of logging all of these caches.
Thanks to all the cache owners who placed caches for everybody to find.
Early Monday 21st April I ventured out to this group with fellow cacher Happy Feet 1 (Robin and Josh) signing the logs as B & HF1 and finding all along the way until we decided to return to Murray Bridge with our aim today was to log at least 150.
This is not the order we found these but for ease of logging I will log in order.

Here in the area for the Oz Mega from Wodonga, spending the day with Bushfire. Our goal today was to grab 150 caches along the Wandering Heros Trail. It is wonderful to see these people who have been recognised along the way. We had a great day in the area making the finds. There was some great hides and our thanks to all the hiders for the effort in hiding and maintaining the various caches. Thanks.Skippy..

Day 4 of the Oz Mega Event, and I was heading for an overnight stay in Bordertown. The day included a few caches around Murray Bridge, the Lost Wanderers series, and some of the Wandering Heroes caches that had arisen since I last cleaned it out. And then there were some more down to Coonalpyn. Sorry for the generic logs - there were just too many to log individually.
This is actually one cacher that I know - most of the others are totally new to me. (Must be nice to have good caching friends! ) My thanks to the bush kangaroo for the cache.

Travelling home with Haveanez from the Mega we chose this route so we could at least tick off a few of the many caches this series has to offer.
Many of the cache name sakes I have met, shared a few laughs with at various events , been caching with at some point, and many more names are familiar in logs received and spotted in log books of the various caches over the years.
Sorry for the generic log on this series, but so many caches found over the weekend I don't think I'd ever catch up if it wasn't for our old mates - copy and paste.
TNLN, TFTC, Cheers.

With the main activities of the mega out of the way but also well into the day we headed out with Goblindust, our visitor from Seattle in the USA to find as many caches as we could before dark. We found a few caches before hitting the Wandering Heroes trail. Each time we came across a name we had some history with we reflected on the wonderful time we had shared with this geocaching team. When we stop geocaching (one day) I am sure it will be the people we remember rather than the geocaches [^][^]. Nice one. Thanks to Skippy. for placing this cache.
Searched around but kept coming back to a likely hide where my GPS wanted me to look. Couldn't find it today though.
Day 6 of our Oz Mega 2014 trip. I marked a milestone yesterday, finding my 5000th find whilst doing Signal the Frog. No time for sitting on my laurels though with so many other caches out there waiting to be found. So back out there again today, this time heading down towards Tailem Bend and out along the Wandering Heroes power trail, though only going for the ones with more than 20 favourite points this trip - the others will have to wait for another trip.
Glad we stopped for this one. Thanks Skippy

Day 6 of my trip to the Oz Mega in Murray Bridge with Mistraluna.
After another nights rest at the OzMega we decided to do some of the Wandering heroes series with me doing some of the ones I hadn't already done and Mistraluna doing the ones that had a lot of favorite points that I had already done. Met quite a few other cachers out on the road and helped a couple at one cache.
Was a quick find here.
Thanks Skippy. for the cache.

Day 2 of the Mega and we have good intentions of doing all of the wandering heroes series . We struggle to get numbers living in an isolated location so this is an opportunity to good to miss, plus its our chance to learn about the other cachers in OZ as we go. TFTC
Off with Patdj for another day with the aim of completing the Wandering Hero trail. Generic posting - sorry
