Day out walking the loop.Enjoying the countryside and finding the geocaches very pleased the cache didnt live up to its name

17-Jan-24
We were lucky. That day no sandflies were around. The hike between the two valleys was very nice. We were a little bit surprised about the bikers on the pack track. But other people obviously have more physical capacities than I have. The find was no problem. Muggle waited in the hut on the other side for me to check trees and sign the log.Thx for hiding.

Quick find out caching with my nephew and niece from New Jersey USA, whilst travelling together for a week after a family wedding.Thank you for placing the cache. I have enjoyed my opportunity to cache on Te Waipounamu (South Island Aotearoa New Zealand). I acknowledge the Maori iwi of Waipounamu, the custodians of this beautiful land.

Today's road trip planned to go North of Runanga up to the Pororari River leaving Rapahoe for another day.The only live non-huma thing around today was a weka. This took a while as my coords took me to a bush lawyer covered punga. I then noticed another and zoomed into that one. This one's armpits are very close to the ground.Cheers for the cache, Gracie7 + Mum.

spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.

With mostly very nice Cool weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed

We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared Wink
So this box was also well found.

now I have another Smile on my personal cache card.

many thanks to [^] **gracie7 + Mum** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

Quickish find. Especially since I had no phone signal. TFTC

Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..

Spending the next wee while based in punakaiki as I landed a bit of work..

Hitting the track for a few days while the rain has stopped..

Last day of an awesome hike over the paparoa track...glad to see someone had found it since my dnf which made for a quick find..always good to turn a frown upside down tftc

20-Jul-22
Took some time to find the cache as we searched quite a few Punga in the area. Finally found it on the ground near the base of the Punga. Looks like it fell down from it's original hiding spot. We tried to tuck it back in the "hairy armpit". Hope it stays there. Thanks for the hide Smile

#11,315. I am down in Punakaiki on a work trip. Today we have been in the field but before we head back to Westport we had time to grab several more caches down this way. Parked at the carpark and crossed the swing bridge. Headed for a likely spot but nothing there. So widened the search checking all around a lot of the hint items in this area. Finally back to the first spot and found the cache on the ground under some leaf litter. We signed the logbook and placed the container in a spot closer to the ground but hopefully secure from weka. Thanks gracie7 + Mum for hiding it here. I have been over this track previously. Will hopefully get a chance to do it again some stage.

Out for an afternoon stroll to the saddle...this should have been easy but not so ...raining when I came back down so didn't try again...!!!

Just finished the loop track on a beautiful New Year’s Day on the coast. Last cache before the hordes of people up on the main road near the rocks. Will need to leave those caches for later this evening for it to quieten down.

Out enjoying a bit of hiking before I continue further north along the coast. Great little hidey spot - I reached it after a bit of struggling. Great hike but now I have to walk on boring roads for a while to get to my van. TFTC!

Having done what we could of the eastern end of the Paparoa Great Walk, we decided to explore at least some of the western end. Returned via the bike track which involved a lot of road walking, but did enable me to grab this cache.

Nice hiding spot, and almost impossible for container to be muggled.

I have just moved over to the South Island from Australia. Hoping to live and explore the country over the next few years and find a lot of caches on the way. Cheers for the hides.

The storms had rolled in and were hitting us hard. So a lot of the days were now spent in the van hiding away from the he. And when it cleared up we got out and stretched the legs by caching. Thanks.

#3902 Very nice day after rainy night. No flies, but very annoying wekas. One stole bred from my daughters hand. The cache was wet and there were some ugly fungi inside, fortunately we have always wet wipes with us, as we have baby, so we cleaned and dried it. The cache is fine now, enjoy! Thanks for the cache, greetings from Czech Republic.

To the end of a nice walk along the Pororari and Punakaiki River a quick and easy find. Cache was on the ground, we put it back to where we believe it should be. No sandflies during our visit, by the way.

18:37 , Kia ora Aotearoa .

Sorry for the late log entry, but the memory is still there .

We left early for a hiking trail along the river and on the way we looked for some caches. The weather was fine and it was going to be a hot day so an early start was a good thing to do.

Found on a murky drizzly day, thankfully my insect spray did its job and I did not become fodder for the sandfly's! Grabbed the travel bug and will take on some visits then let it have a rest somewhere else! Tftc

I arrived in Punakaiki on a beautiful day and decided to go for a walk on the Inland Pack Track. Therefore, I came by this geocache and of course searched for it. Despite the warm and sunny weather, there were not many people on the walk and I could search undisturbed. And getting away with only about three sandfly bites is not too bad, I guess Smile
Thanks for the hide, gracie7 + Mum

took and left a TB

28-Jan-17
A last minute trip to Punakaiki with Ariestiger to maintain a few caches and this being one of them. After a very slow drive down to the swingbridge through some free roaming horses I was surprised to see an occuipied car sitting on the dry riverbed (hope it didnt get stuck with the tide) I replaced the wet book with a new one and dropped a TB. All good to go again. Happy Caching Smile

I drove gracie7 out to Punakaiki tonight so she could do some maintenance on a few caches. We stopped at them all so I could find them too. A nice drive on a beautiful hot evening. TFTC Smile

I saw there were a couple of geocoins that were sitting in this cache and had been for a while so I decided a rescue mission might be in order. It was getting close to sunset and we made our way out. we had fun crossing the swing bridge and I quickly spotted the cache because it had been replaced in a very obvious way. I thought the geocoins would be gone for sure, but nope they were still there. I grabbed them while my friend dealt with his sudden nosebleed. Once that was in order we headed for the car. I got many sandfly bites today, but happily none of them were from here. Tftc.

14-Mar-16
From 19th February to 20th March Stadibast and I visited New Zealand. Half of the time we made a trip around the North-Island. After a short stay in Auckland we went to: Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga, Rotorua and the Wai-o-Tapu-Thermal Wonderland, the great Taupo-lake… We made a Rafting Tour in the Waitomo-Glowworm-caves or hiked the Tongariro–Alpine-Crossing and, and…
In the second part of our holidays we visited the south island, hiked in the Abel-Tasman-Reserve , went to the Marlborough-Sounds, the Golden Bay, the Oparara-Arch, the Franz-Josef- and Fox-Glaciers, had a great sight on Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman, relaxed at the Wanaka- and Hawea-Lakes,….
New Zealand is a very amazing country and with exceptional natural sites. We are very impressed of these great nature monuments and sights and we are happy that we met so much friendly and helpful people.
On our way from Westport to Greymouth we passed this place and stopped for a search. Beautiful beach but terrible sandflies.
Greetings from Germany.

[green] Drove down Friday night for a three day wages to petrol extravaganza. Doing the Blenheim - Greymouth - Westport - Blenheim loop. Drove to Reefton Friday night so I could grab some empty log books early the next morning. That done its on with the main mission. An awesome three day experience, only about 30 caches per day, but two badge upgrades, wekas, seals and penguins, an awesome coast road and coastal walk. Wonderful.
Caches like this make me want to go tramping again. Which I have to do anyway, to fill in my D/T grid. No sandflies today, cache on the ground easily visible (assuming you are looking for a cache that is, passers by still would not have seen it). Put it back where it should be.

11-Jan-15
That's a pretty cool looking suspension bridge, I'm not a fan of them either gracie7, but this one is pretty tame. We were surprised to see lots of people walking around this area - reading the previous logs now I can see it is on a popular loop track. The geo-nana was sent in to retrieve this cache, even though she is the most vertically challenged of us all! TFTC
