It was a very humid day and by the time I made it to this cache I was starting to feel the conditions. Had a bit of a hunt around and then found what looked to be a pile of rocks that might have been cover for the cache but no cache in place, as with the previous finder think this one may have gone walkabouts?
Great location for cache. Thanks for waypoint too! Very helpful. Great views near GZ. Took a while to locate but no problems at all. I had to read few previous logs and while doing it the rock mentioned by hint was right beside me. Happy days! T4TC
A bit of bush sacking until we found the right path down the shoulder. A lovely spot.
At this time of year the trek in was a little muddy but thankfully all managed to keep the mud off their bottoms. The ridgeline part of the track is amazing. Thanks for the adventure today. It took a while to locate this one but it finally revealed itself by a process of elimination.
Today Hans Burger, a muggle and I decided to do a hike to White Beach and the cache Surf & Turf. What a great hike this was, the views were absolutely amazing and the hike was adventurous at times and lots of fun. After this day, Hans Burger ended up loving geocaching, I think she will continue playing this game later. Thank you for placing caches here and showing us the great scenery. It took us approximately 4 hours to do this hike, we parked the car at North Beach.
About this cache:
Wow, this was a bit longer and more overgrown than we expected, but we had already started, so we couldn't just turn around. Up at the ridge the views were just amazing!! From the ridge, it was quite ok to find the way down, and not as difficult as we expected. When we got down there, I realized that the last ones here hadn't found it, and it was more than a year since the last find. Oh no, the cache is probably gone. We searched high and low, climbed and crawled, but couldn't find it. We were about to give up when I noticed a rock that I hadn't searched under, and voila, the cache was there!!! I have almost never been so happy to find a cache!!! The place was really beautiful, thank you for showing us this place and taking us on this adventure. Greetings from Norway

Had a lot of fun DNFing this one! Parked at the waypoint and set off at a jog. Got halfway down the hill and stopped jogging realising I'd need all my energy to get back up it! Snapped photos all the way down to White's Beach. Despite it being a Tuesday I wasn't alone on the beach. Soon I realised I was climbing all the way back uphill! Got to the waypoint for the start of the track but managed to set off in the wrong direction. Soon enough I stumbled out of the trees and onto the track, thank goodness! Beautiful views at the top, overcast day with a large swell made for great viewing, almost an ominous feeling looking at the ocean pounding in way down beneath your feet. Eventually arrived at GZ, waypoints where fantastic in guiding me there. After a good walk around and long search I determined the most likely spot but didn't find anything. There was a little bit of excitement when I saw a black and grey plastic bag tucked up in a hideyhole but I couldn't reach it with hand or stick, it almost looked like a birds nest anyway so I stopped poking around. Despite half an hour of poking in holes and turning over rocks I unfortunately had no luck. Worst of all, I'd left my drink bottle in the car! However, it was a fantastic walk, serene and with amazing views. I've still got plenty of caches to get in this area so I'll keep my eye on this to see when it is found next before making my return.
Had the day off so headed out here to score a few caches we had not rounded up. Slipped and slid our way down the track and then out to this cache. We paid attention to the waypoints as to ignore them could mean we went over the edge. Found our way down to a beautiful and wild secluded spot. Found the cache and decided to rest up for a few minutes and have morning tea taking in the ambience. A favourite for us.
I had walked to and from Anawhata beach, so the legs where a little tired. I thought I might walk around the coast to this cache, but then decided that although it was low tide, that I did not want to underestimate how long it might take, and then find myself stuck on the other side, not sure of my return path.
What I decided to do was use a track from Anawhata road (S 36° 55.581 E 174° 27.529) then turned down to a track to the left (S 36° 55.634 E 174° 27.305) which joined waypoints given by the CO. Not sure how much of a time saving, but it is a lovely walk.
Got to GZ, and had the GPS bounce around a little. Did not take too long to find, as I searched in a couple of obvious spots, but the hint helped heaps, and got me there.
After I climbed up Fishermans Rock, and sat watching the waves break. Just magical
Thanks for the hide and bringing me here.

With the sun out for the weekend I decided to have a little tramp out to GZ. Even with the bouncy GPS the geocache was located easily and dry in its hiding place. TFTC
A beautiful day to head out to this cache. couldn't find it at first so went round in circles. Finally came back to the first place I looked and there it was. I guess looking for dark objects in dark places with sunglasses on doesn't help. Gave this a fav due to its location. Tftc
Great weather for a hike. Started from North Piha, went up to Te Waha Point, down to Whites Beach then up to Fishermans Rock Point where I went up to the top of Fishermans Rock.
I then made my way over to Anawhata along the coast, admiring Keyhole Rock along the way, unfortunately the tide wasn't out so couldn't walk over to it.
I then made my way over to Cannibal's Bowl which was quite an adventure in itself and then returned to North Piha.
Luckily the path down wasn't muddy, I could imagine slipping down it. After a bit of a look around and locating the cache I went up to the top of Fishermans Rock, awesome views from here although it was a bit windy. Saw a couple of Fishermen down on the rocks, it looked like they weren't having much luck. TFTC.

Spectacular spot, the wild west coast at its best. An obvious track once on it, but glad for the waypoint to initially pick it up from Whites beach. TFTC!
Took a while to find which rock... Super easy once we found GZ but GPS coverage wasn't so great. Such an amazing walk and place to stop. Thanks for taking us somewhere we might not have otherwise been.
Back for unfinished business. This time the squall ripped through while I was arriving at the car park rather than when at GZ so that was a good omen. Came in from Anawhata road and down the 'driveway' - I would love to drive down here one day just for the hell of it.
The track down to White's had the odd slippery bit but nothing compared to the greasy goat trail for the final drop down to the cache. There was a muggle perched on top of Fisherman's rock watching me slither down and reckon he was having a good laugh too.
Just as a I got my hands on the cache a chopper came in low and fast, did a quick circle around the rock and then put down on the high ridge of the rock on an area about the size of a dinner table with the tail hanging out over the cliff. Couple of tourists jumped out, up to the top of the rock, did the panorama thing with their i-pads and then shot through again. Quite a busy place today!
Glad to have signed this one off on the second visit. Awesome spot and can't believe how few visits it's had. T4TC

After a short walk in the Waitak's this morning, I decided to continue out to Anawhata - a place I have never been before! After finding the 'Te Waha Cairn' cache, I continued down to White's Beach then up the hill and around to this cache - following the trail all the way, which wasn't too bad at all. I soon found the cache and was thankful there was a little pencil in there, as my pen seemed to have gone missing en route! Fantastic area this - a favourite point added! TFTC!
Hugely enjoyable cache! Left from north Piha via Whites beach and the Rose track. No probs routefinding - the track down to the cache is quite well used (by fisherman?) and the last descent appeared daunting but less so as it unfolded. An incredible location, and the cache was quickly found. My thirst for adventure was not yet quenched, and after eyeing up the adjoining Fishermans Rock, I had to do that too.
This was at another difficulty level above what preceeded and not to be taken lightly. Rewarded at the very top with breathtaking and somewhat nerveracking views. Then it was back down along the knife-edge ridge and final rockface to feel safe again. Whew and cheers!

Stumbled across Whites Beach during an exploratory Georun. Considered going for this but was alone, and hadn't told anyone where I was going... Don't want to be in a news report soon eh?
Why aren't there more people coming out here? Ten months since the last find and cache is still in good condition. This is an incredible spot (worth a favorite point) and it's relatively accessible. Great place for a cache and if you're feeling froggy head to the top of Fisherman's Rock for the views. It's worth the scramble. Cheers for the cache.
Walked down to Whites beach in nice sunshine and left half the team on the beach while rest of us carried on over to look for the cache. The grey clouds spotted on the way up were foretelling a squall rolling in. By the time we were at GZ the wind had picked up, the surf was roaring and there was frequent bolts of lightning a an a constant roll of thunder. Had a brief look for the cache but decided to make a run back up the cliff as the first heavy drops of rain arrived. 2 minutes later it was bucketing down and the lighting was overhead. Great adventure so wasn't too worried we didn't find the cache - good excuse to return.
Stopped for lunch 50m away with the meetup tramping group 'Guided Hikes in Auckland's Wilderness and Rainforests !" , so made a quick detour
Last one of the day. We came from the near by EC hopping over the rocks.
We'd left one car at the beach car park and the other at the White beach car park.
We kept climbing and climbing expecting to go down to the beach again before heading up again.
The track got smaller and smaller until the point where Melski said that this wasn't the track they took before. We'd continued goig up and before we knew we were on the road - in between the car parks.
At the start of the track there was a sign from the university stating that the track was dangerous and closed for maintenance......

Continuing on from the EC, we made our way along the rocks to GZ. We had a good search around before finally coming up with the goods. Signed the log and then headed straight up the bank back to the car. What a climb back up! The track was very rough in parts and when we finally got out to the road, there is a sign stating the track is closed for maintenance. Oh well, added to the adventures for the day! TFTC!
What a great spot! We (10cc and I) came from Anawhata via the new earthcache. The tide had turned so we wanted to hurry. I gave us 10 minutes to get around the rocks to the cache, but it turned out I only needed 5. Cache was quickly located - really enjoyed the location, and then headed back around, all up 15 minutes and the sea had hardly come in at all, so no need for any panic. A much calmer walk from then on back across the beach. +1 fave. TFTC!!!
As soon as we saw this one it went straight to the top of the Sunday walk list, not that it's a very big list these days. Set off down the Rose track and as soon as we branched off to Whites beach were we exploring new territory. Any cache that takes is somewhere new is instantly a winner. Leaving Whites Beach behind, the track certainly gets interesting, but that's what adventures are about. It certainly looks simpler in a satellite view. Made GZ safely and soon had the cache in hand, then as it was right on low tide, decided to head out via the rocks to Anawhata, which in itself was quite an adventure.

In need of getting away from the earlier events of the week involving tornado's, with an a pretty nice day, and the possibility of getting a FTF, it was decided we would make an attempt on this one. Couldn't have asked for a better day, or a better adventure. Havn't really been out to this part of the coast before, and I was blown away with how amazing it is out here. Made it to GZ after a decent slog, and after a bit dig around, the cache was found, with the bonus of a blank log book. We weren't in a hurry to leave so explored the area a bit, and climbed up to the overlooking rocks. We then made the desicion to wander around the rocks to Anawhata which is well worth the trip if you've got time. Just watch out for the tides. It gets a bit tricky at high tide! Thanks for bringing us out to this amazing spot! TFTC.
Had my eye on this one since it was published and with the weather delivering a beauty and three good friends keen for a wander it made sense to give it a crack and see how we got on. Parked up at the Rose Track entrance and made our way down to the beach to find our first waypoint to head into the hills. This is where it got fun as it was steep, muggy and pretty narrow - everything we were hoping for! Soon we hit the ridge line and it was relatively smooth sailing from there to GZ. Bit of a hunt around and we soon had the cache in hand - and a well earned FTF to go with it We stuck around for a while before heading around to Anawhata Beach via the rocks - just beat high tide in before it got too hairy.
Amazing spot and definitely worth a favourite point. TFTC

Couldn't resist going for this cache with awesome company and great weather. The four of us made to the top of Rose Track and made gradual decent to the beach whist admiring the piece of beauty! Absolutely amazing! The cache was found after a bit of search and wohoo a FTF! Awesome effort and very pleased with that one.
Our timing great as the tide was coming in so we had bit of all the adventure incorporated in the 6km walk we had. Tracks, rock climbing, stream crossing, and of course gravel road in the end with lots of sun and waves. Awesome day in a fantastic place. Won't get tired of coming here.
