Slippery slope, but easy find. TFTC Rapu Taonga

09-May-24
Managed to find it, but path was very wet and slippery

15-Apr-24
TFTC. A nice stroll up the hill today to finish off two caches we bailed on last time because of rain.

11-Mar-24
Did with Crystal Fairy.

10-Mar-24
Came here today with the family (Fairy half and Mycro Man and Ezratar) and mother showing her around the Lord of the Rings set followed by Brewtown for lunch and the Maidstone Max for Ezratar. Whilst one half stayed and scooted the other half and Mycro Man slogged their way up the hill, with Mycro Man moaning from the first hill. Eventually got to GZ and struggled to find the hint object. After reading a few logs I found an alternative route (higher up) that eventually lead me to the cache. Luckily it hadn't been raining for a while or this might have been a completely different log. The cache is in great condition. Thanks for the cache, the walk, the sore muscles and the great views.

On Christmas Day with Bell_S. TFTC

05-Oct-23
This was my last find for the day and after a quick look in one area I checked some logs and headed around to another spot to make the quick find.T F T C brucewwnz.I was in the area for work for a night so I looked for a couple of caches to find before grabbing dinner and picked the walk above Upper Hutt which turned out to have great views! Sadly I only got two of the three I attempted with two more that I didn't try today.

08-Sep-23
Just passing through the Hutt today on my way to Welly. However, the day was gorgeous and I was running very, very early. Perfect excuses for a quick cache hunt. I arrived, a bit puffed , and suddenly found myself geographically confused. Initially I blamed my phone but a previous log solved my conumdrum. From there it was just a matter of slipping and sliding to the target. Cache in fantastic condition. TFTC and the lively walk.

06-Aug-23
#10 a very nice walking track to an easy find.

10-Sep-22
Quick find, great view, found out how unfit I am, TFTC

23-Jul-22
Great day for an adventure up here- Beautiful bush! Slippery, cautious approach but got there! Seeing if I can do these before Master Seabreeze’s hockey match. Many thanks

17-Jun-22
Yay, it's Friday! Oh but I'm working tomorrow, but never mind as it's still Friday and even better it's not raining!
I went out in my lunchbreak to get some fresh air, and figured the air up here would be about as fresh as any on offer.

I approached GZ from higher ground, making my way down towards the cache following the path, with Satellite imagery to guide me, except wait, the path is going "that" way but the satellite shows it going a different way? Obviously 'they' have decided to change the route.

So I made it back to the old path and the cache was a quick find after that. But how long will that be the case? Already the Gorse is starting to encroach...

But back to today. No problems at all with the cache, so having put my name in the log and taken a photo of the laminated card I put everything back as found and carried on my merry way.

Thanks for placing this cache.

04-Jun-22
TFTC was good find on a family walk Smile

25-Apr-22
Easy find- once on right path. Took travel bug. Added swap. Thank you for the Cache!

20-Mar-22
Fab day for a walk up here - a new place not visited before. TFTC.

04-Dec-21
I called by today to see how this cache was faring. I was surprised to see a new track that takes a more ziggy zaggy route. It is still easy enough to get to the cache site on the old track but I expect this will not remain the case as I think vegetation growth will envelop it.

I will wait to see how things fare. The container and its contents were in great order and no maintenance of any sort was needed.

05-Oct-21
Visiting locally so had to get nearby caches. I took the little walk down the track and soon located GZ. Nice walk and good views today. Thanks for the cache.

The lad had a footy game on the turf this morning , so while the team warmed up I went for a wander up into the bush. Enjoyed the climb up to this one, gave me the opportunity to stretch the legs (and lungs). Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
2x TB's dropped for them to continue their adventures.

A fairly quick find after walking down from the lookout. Perhaps 5 or 6 metres northeast of the coordinates for us. TFTC

19-Feb-19
I came up here for a drive after work. I had a long day in the office and I felt like some quality time in the great outdoors. In addition, I was able to wind down a bit during the drive.

I found the cache quite quickly so was able to get on with the walking, which was nice. I came back past GZ on my way return trip to the car after about an hour of having a look around. I located a few of the other caches in the area. I will save logging them for another day.

The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.

Thank you

Cherrys Rule

Out and about with Vamber, yorkshirekiwi83 & vistra gathering caches in Upper Hutt whilst in town for the Mega. Signed the log as KKKTST. While in the park below, we nipped up the hill to grab this one, no problems, thanks

22-Oct-18
Spent the long weekend down in Wellington and the surrounding region with Vamber, KirsTim and vistra, we were there for the Mega event and we picked up some caches along the way. Thanks to all caches owners. TFTC

22-Oct-18
Down for the Wellington Mega with KirsTim & yorkshirekiwi83 and vistra for the weekend, picking up caches in the area along the way. Lots of fun had and some cool sights to see. Many thanks to all the cache owners for the great maintenance and their caches! Big Grin

22-Oct-18
I flew down to Wellington just for the day today to attend the WENZ Mega Event and I joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83, Vamber and KirsTim for a day's caching, which was focussed primarily on caches in the Hutt Valley area - signing all logs as KKKTTS. Whilst wandering around the park, pursuing another hobby, we took a walk up the hill to find this cache, which was soon found at GZ. TFTC!

20-Oct-18
Down in the Capital for an extra long weekend before exams start, with Jag50, Merlot58 & Bertie Blowfish. Stopped here to try and get 11 cache types in one day. Were nearby for a lab cache, so continued on to find the caches in this reserve. Didn't realise quite what the climb up involved but the views were worth it (along with finding the cache)

20-Oct-18
Visiting Upper Hutt for WENZ 2018 Mega Event. TFTC.

20-Oct-18
(# 4741). It was such a lovely day to go for a walk up Kingsley Heights. Parked at the top and trotted off. The track was very quiet but did meet a couple of groups from Auckland who are here for the MEGA. A quick find. Took note of the code. Everything in order. TFTC

20-Oct-18
With a group of fellow west Aucklanders Merlot58, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish To attend the MEGA and for a fun long Labour weekend’s caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for setting up and maintaining the caches. Sorry for cut and paste logs. Quick find

I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go. Mrs Jag got Gum on her pants when she sat to retrieve the cache

Tftc. Shame about the wet weather making the track slippery.

23-Jun-18
With lest than four months to go until WENZ, I thought it was about time to start checking on the well-being of my Upper Hutt caches. I began with this one and discovered it to be in excellent condition. However, I had a replacement (larger but still a small sized one) organised so I did a swap. I have taken a couple of measures to hopefully reduce the incidences of finders not recording the information needed for the Sweet Little Mystery puzzle.

23-Apr-18
Great little walk, we were surprised to see hungry goats nearby, son located cache and wants to come back to feed the goats soon!

31-Mar-18
Thanks for a quick find on our walk

31-Dec-17
I wandered down the track from the ridgeline before today's event to quickly grab this. It was a simple find and at first I thought that it was a different type of calling card left by another geocacher, but then seeing the note in the front of the log reminded me of this series (something that I forgot when hiking up Mt Climie last month and I failed to record the info from Lowdown). Recorded the details, replaced and then headed back up to the picnic table. TFTC

28-Nov-17
Grabbed this cache on a lovely evening walk. Never been up here before. Thanks for the cache!

24-Nov-17
Thought there would be a bit of shade but in fact most of the track up was exposed to the sun on quite a hot day even though it was only 11 a.m. Not much wind either to cool things off, a bit of a breeze sprang up when I was just about back down the hill. Still an enjoyable walk, morning aerobics completed!

Saw a muggle ahead of me on the track but he was out of sight by the time I went for the cache. Only other muggle I saw was coming up as I was well on the way down.
All good with the cache including the clue card.
Good idea to have boots or shoes with better traction than mine had when descending owing to a bit of loose material on the slightly steeper bits but I managed OK.
TFTC.

22-Oct-17
Ttc!

18-Oct-17
Last cache from up this way and met up with a kune-kune pig inthe filed on the way, one of my fave animals and we had one in Manawatu; Boris Big B0%&)cks as he was known. Soon arrived at GZ with a the=reat of heavier rain and drifting drizzle in the valley which never really eventuated, phew. All good here and took details for the Mystery cache. T F T C brucewwnz, good to say hi on Friday.

Probably the last meaningful chance to find a few caches on this 'overseas' trip so just a couple of not so Q E F s to get the numbers bumping along and rounded up. Eventually managed to get the 5 caches on the list, but only after the (now seemingly obligatory) couple of DNFs. A cold wind blowing through the area today, and the whole country, and rain in the air too. Even grabbed details for a couple of Multi caches to find if I get a chance tomorrow, hopefully.
Thanks for the caching experience Wellington, I will be back!

02-May-17
Cache still in good order and replaced carefully as found.
Thanks

01-May-17

I called by to check that all was well with this cache. The Guinea Gal Geocoin had been here for too long so I have taken it and will look to move it northwards next week.

19-Nov-16
Found after a short search. I seem to have sticky tree sap on my hands now. Ewww. TFTC.

06-Aug-16
Quick find on a rather wet day. Managed to keep the log and container contents relatively dry, it just started raining as I opened it (of course Razz). Anything that did get wet, got dried on my thankfully still dry t-shirt so all should be good. Tftc, number 2 in this series for me

An easy find. Some kind person (I am sure it will be the CO) had cut the gorse. I was glad of my gardening gloves to access the cache. A very pleasant walk to get to this area, thanks for placing a cache here. Just managed to replace the cache before a muggle appeared.

27-Mar-16
A quick find by son-n-law from Oz when we said the gorse is okay!! Haha. Yes gorse needs a trim. Number 3 in the set for us. Also cache number 200. Another milestone for us. TFTC

07-Mar-16
No problems this time around! Lovely evening walk and a great sunset Smile

05-Mar-16
Nice evening walk. TFTC

05-Mar-16
I called by this afternoon to put a replacement cache in position. It is possible the original has slid out of sight and reach although I would have thought there was enough material to stop this from happening. There is also gorse encroaching on ground zero so I will try to remember to bring a tool to cut some back on my next visit.

23-Feb-16
Hi brucewwnz any chance you could check if this cache is still in place? We searched the obvious spot but it appears to have gone Sad

23-Feb-16
No sign of it, now we can't complete the series Sad

02-Dec-15
My third in the park and unfortunately my last four the day. Wanted to grab all of them but the drizzle was getting heavier and I didn't have a map of the tracks so I didn't know where I was going to end up. All in good condition. TFTC.

Quick find by Mr Awesome4sumnz while out on a geocaching mission together. TFTC

15-Mar-15
#610. Walked up to this one from Maidstone Park so a good uphill workout on a hot and dusty dry autumn day. Lots of tiger beetles on the track up. First ones I have seen in years. Soils around our area of Wellington are too damp for these hole dwelling critters. Wondered where the cache might be hidden looking at vegetation on these upper slopes but once at GZ it was obvious. Cache was sitting out exposed! Signed log and swapped a few tradables then left cache better hidden but at same location. TFTC

03-Mar-15
Need a long arm to get this one comfortably....tftc

Macfam41 found it. Off to find mystery now
