We continue on our road trip through New Zealand. First up north, then as far as Stewart Island. Old caches in particular are on our radar, but of course we don't waste any that just happen to be there. This was one of them. Thank you very much for storing and caring for it!
Hallo Riser5,On the second day of our trip through Aotearoa, DrDonna and I headed north in our newly rented campervan. Always along Highway 1. Of course, we always took a short break to enjoy the view, stretch our legs or look for a can.As we were still pretty jetlagged, we had to look twice at one or two places, but were still able to sign all the logbooks.
This is the first time we've stopped in this picnic area. It's a bit close to home for us to need to stop here, until today. It was pretty quiet on the road, and the picnic area was empty, so I quickly found the cache and signed the log.
In my way north and decided to do some geo caches. Thank you this nice safe pull over one
Good to see this rest area open again. Its been awhile since weve been through the Dome. We needed to fill a calendar day and this has worked out well. All good here. TFTC.
Heading north towards Whangarei with rattll. As we pulled into this layby, we realised that it was already occupied. Fortunately, we were able to park the van so that it shielded us from the view of the other vehicle while we searched for the cache. Soon found. All well in the container. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
4-week family trip through NZ - Find #5!A quick find in a short break in the drive to Whangarei.TFTC!
Out doing some early morning caching with matagouri.A quick walk and we were at GZ. we had to be weary of muggles parked up near by.Thanks for setting this up
Nearing the end of our Northland run ad trip which has been such fun - biking, kayaking, bush walking and finding heaps of caches! Quick pick up here, TFTC
Tftc. A busy day but Noone else in rest area and a couple of gaps to help disguise activity.
Heading to the Far North. Kiwi pulled over here to make some adjustments to the tiedowns on the roof-rack. Scotty took the oportunity to grab the cache. Almost went away with a rabbit which some person has dumped here. TFTC
2134. 3:38 pm. Rain had cut our geocaching adventure short but it looked like we had a gap in the rain to find this pull over geocache. I was very wrong as it started to bucket down and I parked at the wrong end of the "picnic area". TFT(northbound)C.
A last minute return trip to Whangarei offered the opportunity to pick off a handful of park and grab caches north of the big city.
Not much of a picnic spot at the moment; more of a builders yard with long pipes aplenty. Thankfully these didn’t get in the way of the GZ and a quick find was to be had.
Thanks Riser5

Pulling over unplanned, I thought it would only be responsible to check for a geocache. To my surprise, there was one! A quick find with the hint. Cache in good condition. Thanks!
As soon as I was going to get out of the car another car pulled up and parked very close to the cache location. The whole family got out so I sat back and started to read my book. An easy find once they left after about 15 minutes. Thanks for placing the cache
Agopped over on our way to Ruakaka! Tin is really rusty and old now. Easy find, thank you!
Lunch stop in our camper today and great place to pull in and let the traffic go.
Logging for yesterdays find as no time to log on the drive up north yesterday! Nice easy find, good spot to stretch the legs!
Stop #2 on our Northland Adventure with Tonisch13. Nice quick easy cache. TFTC
North Island Campervan trip Day 7
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I ended up spending the night at the DOC site near Okere Falls, which was nicely quiet and a great place to start my day from. I knew that tonight I would be in Kaiwaka visiting friends there, but today would be a lot of driving to get there so plenty of opportunity for caching. By the time I got to here, the afternoon rush hour traffic out of Auckland was in full swing, so the roads were pretty busy.
However, thanks to the decent sized layby, I was able to park up and walk over to this one without too much fuss. The cache itself only took me a moment to locate and finding no issues with the cache or the log I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

On our drive from auckland back to the bay of islands. Missed most of the traffic but still a steady stream. Pulled over to get this cache. Thanks for the cache
We are heading North to catch up with some friends. Needed to stop and grab some food from the boot. This seemed like the perfect stop, with the added advantage of a geocache! Lucky for us there are no other cars parked her so a nice quick find. TFTC
Very clever find and sneak back while having light conversation with muggles at table.
Stopped on my way north. There were a lot of cars parked close by, but the people were busy doing other things. A quick find. TFTC.
A lot of other cars here when I pulled in, but they were all a wee way away. So I able to nab it unnoticed. TFTC
We weren't planning a cache in this spot, but once we stopped, who can resist a cache when it is less than 50m away!
TFTC!
TFTC!
Of course as soon as we get on the road again we say we’re hungry! Mum said we had to wait until a rest stop with a cache...luckily one came along almost straightaway. TFTC
I’m happy I have a new smiley on my map, kids are happy with their snacks we were able to pull over for and hubby is happy with a couple of lollies so everybody is happy. TFTC saw the lid laying before I saw the cache. Fixed it all up again.
Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, Riser5, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

NLBokkie and I are going on holiday to New Zealand for 3 weeks. In Auckland we rent a camper. We start on the North island and driving to the south to make the crossing to the South island. Here we make a round and then take the boat back to the North Island. A long trip, but a very beautiful one! We do and see a lot on our way.........…
In addition to being a tourist, we are also going to cache along the way. The virtuals and earth caches are often on tourism places. If we have a long day of traveling, we stop for some caches.
It were great weeks!

Day six of our 11 day binge trip we are signing as NNES. We are heading up North to visit Gracie's GPS Fun. Time to swap drivers.
Yay school holidays! Time for a road trip with my friend Ethness. I flew from Christchurch to Wellington. The idea is to drive up to the top of the North Island and back. We planned the trip ages ago.
Thanks Riser5 for placing this geocache 7787 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Found it
Quick easy find for a lovely day
Funny that, you always look at the first place you think that the cache may be, but that proved me wrong

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!
Today we have found the cache "Picnic pull over (Wayby)".
Riser5, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!
Greetings from the Netherlands,

On the way north and took the opportunity to have bit of a break and get this cache. Replaced the log. TFTC.

Because of the cache name I thought it might be somewhere else but it was indeed in the obvious spot. Thanks for the reason to stop a moment. TFTC
Northland Day 1: We drove up from Auckland to Hokianga today, passing through the Hibiscus Coast before heading across to Kaipara District and then into the Hokianga Harbour. Stopped by various beautiful regions along the way to take in the views, and of course, there was always room a few cache finds... well, not a few Thanks to all the COs along the way for showing us the lovelier parts of the Northland!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Who doesn’t like a quick layover cache? No time for a picnic, but definitely enough time for a cache find. All good here, TFTC!

22451 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Auckland to Paihia. On several spots we stopped to find some caches and to enjoy the lookout views. All day was sunny,so we also made a walk in Puhoi to get the caches along the path to the mountain view. Also the GB1 caches were very popular because you can park safely for them. At some Parkings there were many muggles, but they had no interest in us. they took many pictures.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.
Riser5 TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

During our holidays in New Zealand, we spent a couple of days in Auckland with program sightseeing, gastronomy and, of course, Geocaching!
So, we took the time to visit a few Caches, to remove some green, orange or blue dots on our map.
We will distribute favorite points according to our mood and caches met.
Thank you to all Owners for the installation of these boxes and for their maintenance.

We left Auckland quite late in the day after my conference was finished. However, having the door code for our accommodation in Whangarei gave us all the time in the world to find a few on the way up! The weather was abysmal, but tunfisk had a new piece of tramping equipment he was keen to test in exactly these conditions, so he was more than happy to do the jumping out of the car We had a great time and the time passed much quicker than expected. TFTC!!
One of the many caches during this year's vacation. Thanks to all of you who contributed in hiding and maintaining those caches. You are those ones who made this hobby possible.
Today we had a trip from Coromandel to Whangarei on the plan, thereby visiting many other locations near the road and coast and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long with only partly some small clouds.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to 'Riser5' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Picnic pull over (Wayby)'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Today I headed north to find a few caches in my spare time. I was actually heading further on in the hope of an FTF but just before I got to this point the found notification came through. Oh well, ce la cache... I carried on caching for the fun of it. No really picnic weather today but a good spot for a cache find. TFTC, Biggles.
We were heading North today to spend a few days up in The Bay of Islands... and naturally we had to pull up the geo-map on the way to see if there were any caches up for grabs. That is how we came to be looking for this particular cache. So after pulling over and waiting for a few moments for some muggles to clear out we soon had the cache found, log book signed, and nicely back in its spot all ready for the next hunter. So thank you Riser5 for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
Was just by chance we had stopped at this rest area to swap drivers on our trip home from Auckland. Thought I'd try my luck and see if there were any GC nearby... bingo! Nice little stop to stretch the legs too.
Once the GPS caught up with our movements were able to find.
A very high muggle area but can easily hide what you're doing. GC was safe, intact and dry. Also had a little swag but TNLNSL. For the record this was my 10th find (still a newbie but love it).
Think my Dad is hooked on the idea of Geocaching too now so TFTC... I may have a Geocaching buddy in the near future!

Had to head to Auckland so a few caching breaks where called for on the way there and back home. Not the easiest to find without being spotted- luckily the pullover was empty so only passing cars to worry about today
The usual type. Managed it to be seen by muggles who were attaching labels to a car.
Visiting from Hamburg, Germany. This ist very beautiful Place. Thanks for the cache.
Auf unser Rundreise durch Neuseeland wurden wir auch an diesen Schönen Ort geführt und konnten die Dose finden.
Thanks for this hide at this place

The showers finally eased off so we pulled over to grab a cache on our drive north. We jumped out of the car and it was pretty clear where the cache was likely to be so we let Albert the hound stretch his legs on the walk over - sure enough the cache was found as expected. Still perfectly serviceable here so log signed and returned without difficulty. Thanks for the cache, all good here. Job done we carefully pulled back into track and continued on - people really motor here.
Found with clairemcsk on the way back form Auckland for a Christmas lunch. nice easy find
Quick easy find with the little brother, Skott30, on the way home from a family Christmas lunch in Auckland.
