Quick find found out in the open Placed where thought obvious spot Biking with Juju54...TFTC
Headed out early to do the FTF series of caches. It proved to be slow going up to around #80 with a high proportion of containers in a poor state. We replaced log sheets and some containers that were broken but we soon ran out of supplies. This section, particulary those on the side heading to Iron Knob are in desparate need of maintenance. However we faired ok with only a couple of dnf's. Ran out of daylight so have only a few to finish off tomorrow. Thanks to all the CO's for placing these caches.
A quick find here as I head back into town on the FTF trail...
Spending a few days in Whyalla and found a few cache, or 300!
Had managed to solve all the puzzles before coming over too.
Of the nearly 300 found on the trip over and back from Adelaide, 95% were found within 50km of Whyalla Central, with approx a dozen dnfs also. Amongst all the finds was my 17000th find.
Also managed a lot of 'unloved' finds too.
What is it with Whyalla and mint tins? lol
TNLNSL
Thanks

Day 5 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Whyalla and ended in Adelaide.
Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought us over here.
We completed the FTF series and the Letterbox caches.
During the morning we found the majority of the days caches, some highly favourited first up also.
Anyway the day has time limitations to it as we were hosting an event that started at 6pm and as it were we made it there at 5.59pm so early however the crowd of people there before us was rather pleasing.
It was great to see so much energy around Geocaching at the event the Adelaide teams really know how to impress and greet the visitors with a beer, thanks Freddo!
DeltaDucks I found your cache FTF PT-48 : Time for my turn thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.

Day 5 of Barnzy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we travelled from Whyalla to Adelaide via a number of country towns.
We started bright and early just before sunrise to pickup a couple of caches North of Whyalla that had some high favourite points which had tickled our fancy.
We then moved our attention to the FTF power trail, which started just out of Whyalla and took us all the way to Iron Knob. Found a good variety of difficulty and terrain combinations along the trail, with some interesting hiding spots. There were a couple of DNFs and caches that took a while to find which stretched out the time taken to complete the series.
We eventually made our way to Iron Knob and picked up the couple of caches around town which were quite nice in a very small mining town.
We were pushing the time factor quite hard, so skipped a fair few caches, but had to stop in at Port Germain to grab the aptly names Port Germain cache, which filled in a spot on the Jasmer grid, and its where I rolled my ankle running back to the car which made things a bit difficult for the rest of the day.
The other main target for the day was the Postman Pat Letterbox Hybrid Series, which were great quick finds of nicely sized containers.
We left the LBH trail and made our way to quickly check into the accomodation and made our way to our event in Lights Square “Sandgropers in the City”, which we made it to exactly one minute before it started, but a good sized crowd was already waiting to greet us, which was really nice as it was at last minute we had the event published.
It was great to finally put some faces to names we’ve only seen in logs, in particular the SA legend Freddo and TeamAstro. It was very interesting learning of the large scale model of the solar system, of which we had found one of the caches on the Nullarbor on our way over.
After bidding farewell to the event attendees we grabbed a bite of food and walked around the CBD caching, with mixed results.

found it on a trip to Whyalla over the Adelaide cup long weekend. quick find on the slow return home. I thought to make a dent on this power trail and stopped at number 50.
Found with e.gregory1 during a caching foray around Whyalla for the weekend as we worked our way along the trail towards Iron Knob. Thanks for the cache Grazie!
Found with Featherwaite on a visit to Whyalla to find a few caches.

Almost gave up on this one. But decided we had time for one last look. Great cache. Thanks for the cache
Found it with TICE [Hiltsu, J&T, kapeka & laalaa]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!
Greetings from Finland!

Greetings from Finland.
Team ICE on a two week geocaching trip in Australia. Our main target was the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs but of course we did some caching in other places too. We drove from Adelaide to Alice Springs and then back. We saw lots of interesting and beutiful places like opal mines at Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta. Our rental travelled almost 6500km on gravel and tarmac roads. The weather was great, only on last day we got some rain.
All the caches logged as Team Ice, T-ice or Tice with kapeka, laalaa and Hiltsu. We had a great trip!
Today our journey continued from Port Augusta to Whyalla and back. Some trail caches and others logged on the way.

Started on this power trail to find as many as we could today. Most were not a problem to find, but when we took too long and could not find one, we would move on. Logs were signed and replaced as found. We also picked up quite a few unloved caches to add to our list. Thank you to DeltaDucks for placing this cache.
Conducted a mtce run today, with sharkbait2005 and stavros08 in tow. Cache still in good condition, replaced the log and hidden correctly. Good to go!
Hot, hungry, drenched by a thunderstorm, bitten by ants, scratched by bushes, and attacked by flies. Count is now 50 and time to head for Wyhalla and a very late lunch. Thanks for the caches which has made our stay in the area very interesting. Log book full. Found on our great Aussie Road Trip
As a past resident of Whyalla who is now an infrequent visitor, I just had to get up to date on finds on this power trail so that the Iron Knob road is now free of unfound caches.
I traveled directly to Iron Knob rather than coming to Whyalla fro Port Augusta and did all of the outstanding caches on my way in to town, accompanied by Locuscache from Adelaide.
TFTC - Thanks for the cache.

Catching up on some late, very late and extremely late logs (400 in all)
I would like to thank DeltaDucks for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Once at GZ, I sometimes find the cache quickly but sometimes it takes awhile to sus out the well camouflaged hide. Once found, log is signed and the cache is rehidden as found.
Once again thanks DeltaDucks.

From the time that the FTF Power Trail began to be published, we had it on our "To Do" list. As the number of caches grew, our planning to visit Whyalla became more serious. Finally the stars were in alingment. Today we started to look for caches on the road from Whyalla to Iron Knob. Thank you to the geocachers of Whyalla for planning, publishing and maintaining the series.
Accurate coordinates and the cache name led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache DeltaDucks.

A big day, starting in Whyalla, heading to Iron Knob and back again. Over 100 caches found for the day, plenty of laughs too! We started a bit before 9am and were finished a little after 5pm. Plenty of big trucks, trains and scratches on my legs along the way! Thanks to all the hiders for their effort.

Day Eight of the WA road trip with BettyBoo3747. Today we hit the FTF power trail that runs out of Whyalla towards Iron Knob. We also grabbed a handful of other caches on the way.
We started at #81 and worked our way back to #30 then went back into Whyalla for lunch. After lunch we came back out and did a few more, not quite completing the series, but enough for us today.
The weather was lovely - overcast and a slight breeze, very nice for jumping in and out of the car.
A good collection of nice sized caches and interesting hides.
Just one thing - take BB's advice and don't do what she did and wear shorts for this series
Nicely themed cache container.
Thanks for this nice series, Robmc.

# 7724. Our second day in Whyalla and with grey skies, a mild temperature and a cooling breeze Robmc and I put plan A into action. This consisted of driving out to #81 and working our way back to town. We enjoyed morning tea in the shade on the side road before stopping at #30 and going back to our cabin for a couple of hours. We then returned and tackled most of the rest. We also grabbed a few others that were along the road. As we started at 8.30am and did the last ones around 5.00pm it did turn out to be a rather long and tiring day.
There were certainly a few cute, bizarre or unexpected hides amongst the routine ones of tubes and eclipse tins. Bisons were certainly rarer than anticipated which is probably a good thing as we made hard work of locating these today. Keep eating those Fish Oil Tablets - they make good-sized containers.
A nicely themed hide here.
Thanks DeltaDucks

After arriving late in Whyalla last night I made a reasonably early start on doing the FTF PT trail plus any of the other caches nearby to them from Whyalla towards Iron Knob. Mistraluna and I had done the other caches near Iron Knob last year on the way back home from the SA Mega.
Most were found without problems with a few DNF's along the way. The last cache was done about 8 pm before heading off to Port Augusta.
Thanks DeltaDucks for the cache.

We are on our way to the Mega event at Stanthorpe but on leaving Adelaide our gps lured us towards Whyalla to a long and not so windy road. The vegetation sure doesn't change much around here. Good to find the cache. Thanks to DeltaDucks for placing this cache.
It was always going to be a tough few hours of solo caching on this stretch of road. The constant rotation of my leg to enter and exit the car which was usually parked on a slope on the side of the road and even the continual reaching for my seatbelt took their tole. Eventually I called it quits and headed back to the caravan park for a walk along the beach. I have waited along time to travel to Whyalla with the sole aim to cache and am loving it so far. Thanks for your contribution(s) to this great trail. I saw way too many scratchy bushes which have destroyed my lovely lady legs and the streams of white 4WDs with a fluoro strip and a tall flag made my gold hire car look out of place. Thanks again for hiding this cache.
[Teal] As we head from town to town as part of our "Purposeful Meander around Oz" the Rats and the Mini Rats found this cache. Dad did most of the hard work here and the detail of our find can be found in the Rats log. Sorry for the duplicate log but it takes nothing away from the find.
Thanks for showing us this spot on our trip.

We did part of this powertrail today as we had a few hours to spare. There were some interesting hides and the nice part was we used the dirt trail making it safe for the kids.
Thanks for being part of our great adventure.

Catching up with late logs.
Last time we were over this way this trail was just starting and we managed to find most of them.
It has sure grown since then so this visit we were determined to try and clean them up again. An enjoyable day and a bit saw us with a lot more smiles and a lot less caches left on the map.
We pulled up here a saw an old discarded firework, could this have been an omen? We followed the GPS'r to GZ where the cache was found after a brief search and our name added to the log.
Many thanks to Grazie for creating another one for this series and we felt it was time we left another favorite point..

A day to spend on the Whyalla to Iron Knob road, while many were a quick find some bore quite a challenge and some searching, enjoyed quite a few novelties as we cached along the road, had to skip a few with the muggle rail workers and there were the odd DNF not to say they are missing just were to good for us today, many a time we have gone back and said how did we miss that last time. Well done to all the hiders and those that maintain the caches for keeping them available for us to find TFTC

We left the caravan park at 8am as the geo wife had a huge list of caches to find .We cached non stop until 5.30pm and in that time we managed 100 finds and a few DNFs we found a variety of caches some were found quickly but others took awhile in the prickly bushes .
After our day of caching we meet up with Felix II and headed of to the footy club for a bite and drinks .

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we found the weather very warm for tackling this 'power trail' the hides were considerably more difficult than we had anticipated and it took us all day to complete most of the series.
We can only thank our cache mates iluvtrekking as we (FelixII) were both completely over it by 1pm.
The combination of heat/tiredness/DNF's and frustration were mounting.but whilst that may sound negative we actually don't like standard power trails so hmm seems we just are too hard to please really Im thinking. [:o)]
In the end I think if we had tackled this trail over 2 days we would have found it more enjoyable. There was a nice variety of hides and camo's spread amongst the many.
Love the theme here of this cache. nice work.

Many of the FTF trail visited today while at Whyalla for a few days.
Not many muggles along this road and not many cachers here lately either.
Most co-ords were good and some of the hides took a while to find.
Another very good hide and returned to where I found it.
Thanks for the cache & your part of the series DeltaDucks,

Today, we decided to finish the FTF PT series. We found 60 and had 3 DNF's.
To make it easier for parking, we did the caches on the left hand side of the road
going out of Whyalla, and again on the return trip.
Once again, we found a wide variety of cache types and hides, some a little tricky.
As this was out in the open, it took us no time at all to find.
Put it back behind some camo, so hopefully it will last a long time.
Thanks for placing all these caches for us & others to find, DeltaDucks.

We found it at 12:01 so this now makes our total find count 8220.

We have finished out Grey Nomad tour of Western Australia and are currently heading eastwards. Our ultimate aim is to be in Murray Bridge in time to attend the "Oz Mega 2014 Murray Bridge" over Easter.
We are having another crack at the power trail again today. It was another long day of wading through prickle bushes.
[/blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks DeltaDucks for the hunt today.

It was a nice clear day today, with not too many pesky flies buzzing around.
We had a better day today finding the caches, the variety of hides were enjoyable but we did have difficulty finding some of them.
After the caching day was done we had a lovely night at the Whyalla Community Christmas Carols.
Thanks DeltaDucks for the cache!

After completing our trek along the Googs Track and back through the Gawler Ranges, it was time to rack up some numbers in the Whyalla area - gee there are a lot of caches around here.
Quick find and sign. TFTC.

Feed the Flies on a day when the wind was howling from the north. 37C was the maximum. 37 billion was the number of flies. FTF PT caches found by the Googs Groop in a rush of diesel and dust.
Cache found in the last place we looked, which was as usual not the first place we looked. Thanks for the cache guys.

Something different - it reminds me of another one in Queensland.

As work has brought us into the area we decided to stay an extra night and do some Pts while we were here, this trail was both easy and offered some very challenging caches, i am glad it is nearly done : )
A nice play on words and a good sized camo made this find a fun one after some mind numbing ones before. Thanks. Liked this one.
how can it take all day to drive from Whyalla to Iron Knob ? easy.. you just keep stopping every few hundred metres to duck into the bush and look for a cache. we had a great day finding a variety of caches, some very easy others a bit harder. thanks for the chance to cache this area.
So we tackled the FTF series. Some were fast, some were slow and some were nasty. Not the fastest power trail in the world but the Whyalla Players are a special breed. Nice one.
Thanks to askjgraz and clear skies from TeamAstro.

This one gave us both a good laugh, nice hide and nice double meaning. Couldn't help but to activate the snooze just to make it harder for the next searchers...
I was headed home today from a fantastic long weekend with the group on The Hunt for PMB16!!
Had a hugely fantastic time with some great people and saw some incredible scenery and rock formations in the Gawler Ranges. [^]
I ended my weekend with a stay in Whyalla and picked up a few caches there, too.
All in all, 108 successful locus cache events and 3 DNFs for the 5 days away
Seemed the road I wanted to take to Whyalla had some new caches on it so I just had to stop and do them on the way past!
Got to admit, this one had me laughing!
Most unexpected after all the micro bison tubes out here and so appropriate for this cache [^]
Thanks for the laughs

South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.
Today we were doing the FTF trail between Whyalla and Iron Knob. There was time for some other caching at both ends. Some of these aches were fiendish today and we had an annoying number of DNFS. Everyone has done a great job of placing a great variety of caches and we had a great day.
Thanks.

This was an interesting PT. Different hides of varying difficulty meant we had to be on the ball to find some of them. We only DNF’d the one which was very pleasing. Thanks for the fun.
Grabbed with Albida on our 2 week caching run from Canberra to, and around, different parts of South Australia including Loxton, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Yorke Peninsula and around to Whyalla before heading home via Broken Hill, Cobar and Parkes. We completed a few power trails and left a couple to do when in the area again for next years Mega event.
Overall a great many different styles and types of caches found. A great time was had caching for 16 days straight as well as camping along the way.
Thanks for adding to the fun with this cache.

Very Clever cache, and cache name, A quick find thanks asjgraz, for the cache and smiley face.
Our 2nd day of caching in the Whyalla Region.
Went out & done most of the FTF trail, such a mixed bag, lots of scratches along the way.
Some of these caches have been so frustrating, micro's in the bush ,not my favourite type of cache
Thanks askjgraz your cache was worth a faourite point

Cache published Sunday evening and still no find log by Tuesday lunchtime + a bit of spare time = how could I resist. What a great cache container and tie-in with the cache name!
