The last few months have been quite hectic for me in geocaching terms, mostly because of my desire to try to qualify for GC30AD8 DGSc Challenge in super-quick time. But March is traditionally a quieter month for me, and I have decided to take the foot off the pedal a little for fear of burning out or getting to the point where I'm not actually enjoying the caching.Having said that, I still have my old personal goal of finding 50 caches for the month, and don't want to get to the point of having to rush around like a mad thing at the end of the month. So I decided that today I would take a leisurely saunter over the Rimutaka Hill to go caching in Martinborough, which has seen a few new caches released since I was last over this way. Having just arrived back yesterday from a big trip to Australia, my flatmate the Seagnoid joined me as two pairs of eyes are always better than one right?Having now finished our caching in Martinborough, it was time to head towards Greytown to meet a friend for a coffee, but of course that gave me the opportunity to stop for this cache.A quick and easy find at GZ. No issues at all to report here, and I soon added my name to the log before replacing everything as found. Thanks for putting this cache out all those years ago.
A quick park and grab. Managed to stop and park right next to gz on the grass verge. Watch out for those passing cars racing by when you step out of your car! Logs all tucked away in a new plastic bag. TFTC
With (Mr) Davidson Clan and Gap (of Fap and Gap)… On a boy’s weekend roadtrip south. We’re relocating down the road today. So our base camp shifts to Carterton for the night…
A quick, straight forward find. Thanks skindo and TFTC.

FapnGap and Squirel Nutcase and I have come away for the long weekend caching. Nice quick find here today cache is in good condition. Thanks for hiding the cache.
Day 1 Cache 16 of my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Wet and rainy day today but cachers must carry on. The lovely Ethness has joined me as driver for the day. Great to get a skindo. No problem with the find here. TFTC.
Heading over to Carterton and grabbing some caches in passing.

Been in Masterton for a week of work. Got time off to collect some caches in the region. This was the last cache for the day and the light was fading fast. Still Mrs Rubbishparty rummaged around and came up with the goods. Thanks Skindo for the smiley.
On a trip to Greytown and grabbed this cache. No problems finding it and can report it is in good condition. Thanks CO.
A nice easy find in between passing muggles. Log was bone dry today, thanks to the ongoing drought here. TFTC
Another quick find after our visit to Martinborough. A bit of bush bashing was required! Had to extract bits of vegetation from parts of my person...TFTC
Road trip with Sueparr2 on a trip to Martinborough made a slow find with a clean up TFTC
Oops, accidentally signed the old log instead of the new so if anyone is looking for our monikers that might be why they're difficult to find.
It is time to spend the day locating and signing off the rest of the "2 from 2" Level I series.
Only 14 to go.
Cheers for the cache.

I took my youngest son up to Wellington in the camper van. I dropped him off at his friend's house where he will stay. Meanwhile I get to geocache and be on standby.
I stayed in Martinburough last night and will slowly head to a walk and back looking for geocaches.
After lunch I decided to change direction. I have been geocaching all day. The traffic meant that I skipped a few on my to do list. Parking was good here.

A big mission over the hill today, focusing on Skindo's A to Z and 2 from 2 series caches, but picking up others along the way.
The first 2:2 find of the day. I struggled with finding a suitable place to pull over, but found a spot around 100m or so down the road. A short stroll and I soon found the cache. TFTC

On a 2 day whirlwind tour of the Wairarapa with barefootguru, collecting the first level of this series. Found and logged as B+D. TFTC!
Signed last entry on full log as B&D, then added replacement (‘continuation’?). Thanks for another skindo!
A serious geo caching day! Not so much about numbers but a dedicated pre planned set of caches covering a fairly large area and many of the caches were puzzle caches we had solved or had qualified for. . We travelled 400km, found about 70 caches and were out on the trail for 15hours, so it was a big serious day.
We left about 6.30am from Palmerston North and travelled thro to Masterton where were picked up out first puzzle cache. And then travelled down the back road towards Martinborough locating the 100 and 250 caches for a month -our main objective!. We stopped at Kokotau reserve for a late morning tea cum lunch but the cache here eluded us even with three searchers and a double look before and again after lunch. We replaced several skindo caches along the route with either new containers or water proof logs as so often they were soaking wet. We side tracked up several side roads for caches and we visited Stonehenge on the way. and then headed into Martinborough to initally look for the cache in the town square which had stumped geodatum earlier. As always PJMacNZ solved the retrieval of this cache and we then headed to the pub for a much earned break and tea with Devonshire scones Yummy! We then continued on our way towards home locating other caches in Martin borough and then on the back route up to Greytown to locate the Cobblestone museum cache which I have searched for on numerous occasions. PJM was able to find the Virtual cache there which was a plus for him. By the time we left Masterton it was starting to darken so we gave away the idea of locating the newer Eketahuna caches. They will wait for another day!.
It was a great day and combined effort by all three of us. Thank you to my partners and the Cos for these caches. Lots of smiley faces and project GC points to boot!!
A big day in the Wairarapa today with a few target caches and a few others to boost the numbers. This was the first of the day and another of the 2:2 series collected. Thanks for the cache.
First one of 10 caches located on this day, mostly between Greytown and Martinborough. Logged this about a month after the event. #1423. TFTC.
Short walk back from where we stopped the car for this one. First we walked on the side of the road with all the tall grass before deciding the nice path on the other side looked more inviting TFTC
Up bright and early for another trip to the Wairarapa to collect some more caches. Off to Greytown and Martinborough areas - I've not been to these two towns before even in pre-caching days. Really liked both of them and will have to come back to explore some more.
Another quick and easy find here. TFTC

Another day in the Wairarapa, today doing a circuit of the lake. The weather's better here than in Wellington so this was a good call. Lots of easy finds, and a few more smiley's on the map!

For some reason which I can't remember I decided to complete the planned route in reverse. But I got a bit mixed up so this was the second cache of the day but we really should have started here. TFTC #8315
We have solved a lot more of the CO's puzzles than we have ever had time to find so we don't know why we recorded the numbers - but we did. Well one day we may have a month in the area when we might make a hole in the number of caches put out.
Thanks for this one.
Thanks for this one.
#1498. Every once in a while there is a day of madness. Today was that day. To complete an Auckland based challenge cache (GC3QY6Q), I needed to visit 50 caches in a single calendar day. But I couldn't use any power trails. Each cache had to be at least 1 km apart. So I spent several nights planning out a route around the Wairarapa that would allow me to achieve this target plus enough spares to cover for the DNF's. I managed to get around all 50 caches (only needing to use a torch for the last one) and was home by 10pm. Apologies for this generic log. This was cache No.50 of the day. Lucky last and a quick find in the dark thanks to a friendly hint. Feeling elated to have this challenge behind me. Been a real mission to convert these spread out caches in an efficient way. Ended up doing 57 caches in total with 7 bonus caches picked up en route. Thanks especially to skindo but also other cache owners for making this possible. Cheers GSEL
Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland

On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Today we drove from Wellington to Masterton. We saw many nice places and caches. Thanks for the cache!

13th day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards north. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. After having a blast in South Island and in Christchurch Mega event, we had to start heading back home. Fortunately we still had few days left to spend in NZ while driving to Auckland.
Found on a sedate 3-day road trip to Napier with Infoferret.
Nice quick find on the way south.

Found Started out about 10 am this morning on the bikes with a heap of caches saved from when we were down here last, thanks to all the cos and Wilcox for the time and effort put into some of the ones we came across, after roughly 20km we managed 19. Lovely day and now sitting back enjoying a well earned beer. Tftc I have added paracord key chains to the ones I could. - I love this town and if it hadn't been for all the caches here I wouldn't have had the chance to enjoy my stay.
Thank you for this wonderful cache. It was a beautiful place in an incredible country.
Quick find while on a caching trip in the area
Enjoying finding all the caches

Found with tmann421 and Just-Lookin on a sunny day of caching in the Wairarapa. TFTC
Spent the weekend in the Wairararapa collecting caches and finishing on the Sunday with a hike up to Blue Range Hutt from Kiriwhakapapa. Great weather and a great weekend where I teamed up with tmann421 and Princess-Emily. Lots of fun and enjoyed the variety of caches in the area.
A nice quick find on a lovely sunny afternoon.

A big caching day which started with Dawn Service in Masterton and ended with a night cache. Approx 80 caches in total while on the road with Pagenz. Thanks to all who placed caches for us to find.
Thanks for another cache for us to find.
Thanks for another cache for us to find.
Started my collection of these ones now, thanks skindo. Found on a day out with tmann421
A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC!

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanginjg of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.

This cache was found as part of a marathon weekend of geocaching with alpenmilch80, mike-miss and funkymunkyzone - aka "Team AMFV" It was a full on weekend of non-stop caching, mostly on windy gravel Wairarapa roads!
I had flown down to Wellington on Friday, then met up with the others first thing Saturday morning. We loaded up a Toyota Yaris rental car, then slowly made our way back up to Auckland, arriving late on Sunday night! The poor little car certainly got put through a lot!
It was an incredibly long and tiring weekend, but great fun at the same time, with a great group of cachers! All up I found 250 new caches over the weekend and revisited a few that I had found before. Sorry for the copy and paste logs, but the weekend is already a blur! TFTC!!
