Tftc! Found after an early sunset hike to the summit together with Gandalf der Groe left a travel bug here that traveled with us the whole way from Germany!
This was such an amazing walk today. Loved the views once we arrived up here. Took us 3 hours up and 90 mins back to the carpark. We stopped a couple of times on the way up as well too rehydrate and have a nibble. So pleased to make it up there especially with a 10 year old 8 year and 6 year old along for the walk as well.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. Yesterday we drove from Te Anua to Wanaka. For today we have planned to hike to Roy's Peak. We are very lucky with the weather since the sky is blue and the sun shines exuberantly. The hike is amazing with really breathtaking views. On top there is still a very thin layer of snow. To add even more to the fun there are some caches at the track like this one. Lots of people around here but GZ was just of the beaten track. The cache was was quickly and could be logged unnoticed. Thank you very much for this cache.
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we arrived in Wanaka yesterday. It is a glorious day and the fresh snow on the mountains guarantees beautiful views. This cache was found during our climb to the top of Roys Peak.**Tititea**, thanks for the cache.
Found quickly on my way up Roys peak. Unbelievable people forming a row for the view. Thanks for hiding the cache.
Im very much a B person and yet hiking up for the sunrise is one of a lifetime experience! TFTC
Thanks for taking us to this beautiful place. Lotsa muggles here today. But managed to slide in and out.

This Morning we started realy early to get sunrise at Roys Peak.
We have been the first in the trail. The moon was still shining bright so there was almost no need for a headtorch.
After 2.5h we reached the top It was quite cold, but we where prepaired.
We enyoend the sunrise and on our way down we searched the caches arround this trail.

walked to Roys Peak at fanatstic weather, found all 3 caches, greetings from Austria
We decided to make the hike here and see the views at the top. This was a real challenge but definitely worth it. Thanks for the cache!
Mit meiner Tochter heute den Roy Trail gelaufen und dabei natürlich diesen Cache eingesammelt. Vielen Dank und herzliche Grüße vom Rumtreiber aus Braunschweig, Deutschland.
While visiting the peak, I had to find this box. There was no problem to find the box, but there was a problem to hike but we made it. Thanks for the cache.
On the way to Mount Alpha via Roys Peak I could find some mountaincaches. After taking some pictures at the lookout I could find the cache nearby, signed the logbook and walked on.
Thanks for hidding.

I'm so glad there was a cache up. I knew there had to be one up here when I opened my app. Mine and my wife's first NZ cache!

We drove to the Wanaka last night. Parked at the car park and took a nap before we started our walk. We are here to enjoy one of special occasion. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise and stunning views from the top. Snow made it even more heavenly.
This was the only cache we could find after digging through snow. Cache is all good here. TFTC.

Yay. I stupid people posing to ruin the view. To the top I head. 125 minutes to the summit for me- I was gasing it.
Grabbed this on my way back down from The top..perfect conditions..quick find once I read the hint properly
Roy's Peak has been on my hiking to-do list for a while now, and today the day finally came to do it. I wasn't bothered about catching sunrise, but as a stinking hot day was forecast, I still left fairly early to make it to the summit before it got too hot. Got up there in reasonable time and enjoyed the great views up there. Waited for a few muggles to move on before making a quick find of the cache. Great spot, fav point added. TFTC!
A few people lingering here on my way up so waited until coming down. Easy find but a decent bit of effort to get here!!
This is one cache that has been found without me but still by members of Frame Family. D and A decided to walk up Roy’s Peak today but it wasn’t my idea of fun. They said it was definitely worth a favourite point, as the view was worth the climb. Unfortunately they left the other two caches for me to find next time. We will see. TFTC.
Great find after an early morning charge up the hill for the sunrise. Great views. Thanks for the cache.
Found with NZNina - finally figured out my password, sorry about copy and paste as can't remember all details from day, apart from it was tiring . TFTC
This is the second time I have walked up mt Roy. Boy is it hard work. Day was overcast and windy so not to hot. Met a guy who ran up in 1hr 20 we were nowhere near that time.
Luckily we had someone who new what the bush looked like. Once found cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for the cache

Quite a few kiwis on the trial today, after a spell of bad weather they were keen to get out. Thought I might not be able to get cache unseen, but as you know they were all looking out at the lake. TFTC
Oh what a hard climb and oh what a reward. Such an incredible view. Thanks for placing here. TFTC FP awarded.
We had the perfect day today. Sunny with no wind. The views from the viewing point were amazing. The top 2km is still covered in snow but the GPS was spot on for a nice find. TFTC.
We started at 3.00 AM to watch the sunrise at the top of Roys Peak - what should I say, it was gorgeous! I found the cache pretty fast when we went back down, thanks for the cache and an awesome experience!
After a very hard climb to the top of Roy's Peak we found this one on our descent. This hike was definitely worth it. Such an awesome view! Tftc with jakesrage
What a fantastic bit of weather we had today for the hike up the mountain. Was super windy at the peak but well worth the journey for those amazing views. Tftc with isistibisi
Wowza! What a fabulous cache location! Roy’s peak had been in my sights since getting to New Zealand in January. And with no plans today and it being the day of our self quarantine and 4 week isolation I decided it was the best time to get out and make this trek! What an amazing view! Couldn’t have asked for a quieter trail and great spot to stop for photos! TFTC
Woohooo, knocked that iconic selfy off. Started 7.30am & 2hrs 20 later i was at the selfy spot. Lots of stops on the way up as relentless uphill. Got a few selfys & others took my photo. Not a cloud in the sky, nor a breath of wind. Absolutely perfect. Was soon scrambling around for the cache & finally found it. Top day finished off by going all the way to the top of Roys Peak. TFTC
With our trip to Melbourne cancelled we decided it might be a good time to go to Wanaka and tackle Roy's Peak.
Thankfully we decided to start early. Up at 4am, on the track at 5.25am. I have to say, doing it in the dark was a great idea - I'm not sure Not Manly Jack would have carried on if she could see where the track went!
Sadly we were too late to see the sunrise from the lookout (got some nice pics on the way up though). Happily we had enough light when we got the to take the obligatory Insta photos.
We also enjoyed a coffee, signed this logbook, and put more clothes on. It was warmer in the carpark at 5.25 than it was up here at 8am! Due to the strengthening (cold) NW wind we decided not to bother going up the last bit to the peak and just headed on down. Very glad we did as the shuttles dropped off crowds of walkers and the wind continued to blow.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people tackle walks like this woefully under prepared. We saw a few today.

Down in Queenstown and Wanaka for a long weekend that was such a blast! We did the early start beginning the trail at 4.40am and didn't regret it at all. Great to see sunrise from the top (we made it with 1 minute to spare - 7.38) and have some fantastic photos. I actually put out 3 more caches on the trail (as I was disappointed that there weren't more to pick up!) so I will log them in as soon as I get a chance. Got to be a favourite here - the semi darkness helped others to ignore me as I was searching - I think! TFTC
Wonderful place worth visiting in the morning (before all tourists come) or later in the evening. Brace yourselves, gorgeous views are coming! TFTC!
Found during our way back from Roy's Peak. We really enjoyed the amazing views over Lake Wanaka.

The challenge for today was to hike Roys Peak. It took me 3 h with short breaks to reach the top. I was very proud, that I did it. It was an amazing view from the top! On my way down I visited this cache and found it! I add a favorite point for the mountain, the hike and the cache!

We have had this walk on our todo list for sometime. We thought we were arriving at the carpark early but at 8.30am it was already full. Found a carpark in the private carpark but couldn’t find anyone to pay the $5 parking fee so headed up the hill. It was a hot sunny day with no clouds in the sky and there were lots and lots of foreign muggles walking the trail. Once at the saddle we spotted the likely spot and signed ourselves in before heading up to the very top. AMAZING views from here.
Gorgeous hike all the way up! I had a seat a little further up from the viewpoint and casually dug out the cache while having a snack. TFTC!
Had fabulous weather today got a great hike to the summit of Roy’s Peak. Fabulous views all day, think this hike is now on my top 5 hikes list. A quick find on our way back down.

Started early on a hot day. Was able to find the cache easily as everyone else was busy watching the Instagram photo shoots at the viewpoint! Nice to have a break here before tackling the summit TFTC
Don't know which was more difficult, the way up or the endless way down!? Beautiful view from the cache and the row of people, who want to take a picture from the lookout... and so proud because our little son done nearly the whole way. tftc!
Wundervolle Aussicht von oben ?? Danke für diesen Cache.
Wir haben noch einen TB abgelegt. Verhelft dem Kleinen weiter zu reisen ??
