Perfect view of the large gumtree one floor below. No need to climb down from the same level of the street! Reading the previous logs make it sound more complicated than it is. Think simple! TFTC

It was a terrible rainy day for caching but I was not deterred, I arrived at gz and hopped out of the car and strolled to gz. Once there I found a likely spot and it turned out to be good, thanks for the views!

Located at 3:10pm. #940.

Yup, that’s the money shot indeed. Such a spectacular view. I took the very adventurous path in and played mountain goat for awhile, just enjoying the area and the view.

This has been a caching-lite year for me so I’m trying to go for specific caches (i.e. attractive higher D/T combos, Jasmer/Hidden Date fillers). This one proved the perfect ticket. After signing the log, I enjoyed the scenery some more before departing home, though not before making one more, very impromptu, find. Cheers for the placement Smirkwood.

Большое Спасибо! תודה! L’chaim! TFTC!

A nice early morning cache before heading off to work.
After heading down to the GZ from the road i clambered down the boulders and started checking the cliff area for hiding spots. After about 10 mins i stopped and checked sone of the previous comments. One of them was most helpful and i repositioned myself thinking “aha. I know exactly where is.”
But no my instincts were wrong, at least in the first spot. My second however was right on the money and i was soon signing the log.
I grabbed the TB from the cache. Its sat there for a while so im sure it will be looking forward to a bit of travel.
The container is in good condition and the log is dry.
I ended up sitting, looking out over the river and watching a group of cockatoos play around in the gum tree as i was writing the comment.
There are much worse places to sit and relax on a beautiful, cool morning.
Thanks.

Out caching with... just myself! Making the area of Lugarno unsafe Smile

Last one for today. I interpreted the hint to be much lower but you don't need to climb down. So after half an hour of searching down in all holes and caves, I climbed up to go to the little hole only accessible from the top and I saw it laying where I was going to drop my bag! TFTC!

OCW Mrs A early, to beat the heat.
It was with some trepidation I approached GZ as Mrs A stayed back with her finger poised on the "triple 0" number Smile Its not that bad if you take care. Took a few minutes of searching the many possible places and it turned out GPSr signal and coords where good today. Excellent view here. TNLN, SL. TFTC smirkwood. Discovered two TB's in the cache.

Wow, look at that view. Magnificent. Especially with the afternoon sun dancing across the water.

so many possible hiding places here. An afternoon hunt with the flock took us some time to find this one but a challenge just makes it more exciting. We were determined not to give up and finally, as our hopes were wearing thin, we spotted it.

Awesome location.

13-Aug-16
Wow what a view. I have spent a lot of time over the years in Lugarno as we have family that lives not too far from the GC site but after our trek around yesterday, I have realised that I am quite ignorant to what sort of beauty Lugarno offers. We found the cache after what seemed like forever and only because my partner in crime #rougephoenix is a little more suicidal then I dare to be. If you don't like heights, this isn't for you. Definitely not child friendly either. A bit of scrub to get through and look out for a few holes and slippery parts that those awkward on their feet may have trouble with. The view however is amazing and once we found GC we sat back to write in the log and just admired that view. Great spot for GC, thank you for leading me to this little piece of bliss and allowing my mind to wander for an afternoon.

Not as young as I used to be. Wasn't too sure about retrieving this but took the challenge with Happy Jackie looking on. Not a good place for gps telling you to go another meter forward. Thanks

Oh geez, glad I didn't bother bringing the geokids here.. And glad geohubster was up for the challenge of these one... Freaked me out just watching him there... eeeek! I'll be honest not a huge fan of massive drops, but guess the terrain did predict that.. thanks for the view though!

A very nice location here high up on the ridge overlooking the Georges River and the mudflats below. We approached GZ, and after reading previous logs had a general idea of where the cache might be. A few possible locations revealed nothing, then a look in a seemingly slightly more precarious spot revealed the cache. The big gum tree is still alive, but a recent fire has burnt a lot of the undergrowth and there was the smell of ash all around, which detracted from the experience a little. Still, a top spot with a beautiful view. TFTC Wink

Having carefully made way around some cliffs in Menai area recently, I thought this would be breeze! Even so, it is quite a drop to the bottom from here, so precaution was definitely required. Once we were in GZ I made way to a spot where I could see the cache. Followed the hint and removed the necessary rock to have CIH. We made a few swaps and then took in the fantastic view over the river in the late afternoon sun. TFTC. A favourite just for the view. No disruption from muggles despite a little bit of activity going on across the road. Sorry, I don't know the name of the species of gum tree! #279.

Awesome cache, beautiful views! I actually passed the spot a good few times and didn't notice it, I was down the cliff when I heard my cousin yell from the top that he found it! You will have to turn over a few small rocks to find it!!! TFTC!!! Loved this one!!!!

25/10/15. 8:20 AM. Cache #3133. Streak day #490.
1st of 4 this morning - Lugarno.

When I pulled over in Cedar Street, it was only a short 50m walk to GZ, which was just as well as my knee was sore this morning and I didn't want to walk too far. It looks like there's been some recent burning off around here and the ground was all ashy, so I wanted to tread as lightly as I could to be gentle to the recovering environment.

A little bit of a delicate scramble at the end, when I was right at the money shot (you're right, smirkwood, the view is great). I was still a rock or two away but I could see the cache - it hadn't been rehidden very well. Made my way over, signed, and rehid a bit better. Then off to "Down by the Boardwalk". TFTC.

Alas it seems we didn't get the same views bikerbuddy's sons got so we had to settle for the cache views.

What a beautiful sight! Such majesty! Thank you so much for bringing us here Smirkwood! And such a beautiful use of language in the cache description too! Th places Geocaching has taken me! My goodness! This really is such a beautiful spot!

To the cache at hand though: After crawling around some rocky ledges, the cache was soon in plain sight, had a look and signed the log Smile When I put it back however, I disguised her a bit better than the way I found her Wink

Thanks SO MUCH Smirkwood, this really is one the most beautiful spots caching has taken me ^_^

I think the enduring memory of this cache for my two teenage sons will be the sight of the young ladies sunning themselves in bikinis in the driveway of the house, across the road from where we parked.

My enduring memory will be the cache extraction. Canary and I got either side of the rock. In retrospect, I probably could have gotten at the cache more easily had I stood one level further down, but at the time I felt more comfortable remaining where I was. A slip on the next level might have been a sad tale. I managed, at full stretch, to extract the cache enough so that Canary could grab it from his side. I remained in situ while Canary signed the log for everyone.

The young ladies were still there when we returned from our drama. They were an enduring memory for Canary and me, too, if we were to be honest. Wink Thanks

#2841- It is amazing that males can be so totally fixed on finding a cache so as not to see two naked girls across the road. Of course, the teenage boys, had a completely different idea( though they say they didn't see them till I pointed it out). So while bikerbuddy, Canary and I headed down too the cache area, Garks and nickoheap stayed with their eye on the prizes.
I must say from where I was just above, I was a bit concerned about the drop below, but I also know that bikerbuddy never takes too much of a risk with finding a cache- he would sooner walk away. The guys grabbed the cache and signed, while I enjoyed the brilliant views of the nearby river and amazing houses. Thanks.

opps- our first geocache & i only read the front page description before we went...can now heartily agree its not a good idea to take children! my 7 y.o slipped down a small cliff & hurt his tummy...a test for resilience as he was happy to keep searching, even though he was sore Smile shame we didn't find it

19-Mar-13
Swung by this afternoon to confirm that it most definitely is there. I couldn't even see it through the camo ie before I even moved the camo.

Zac64 seems very sure of the species of gumtree though, does anyone agree with him?

Dropped off a nice little tb for the next finder.

Ps I would love some photos from you, future finders, and I hope you can make it out there on a good weather day!

Found on a late afternoon caching expedition around Lugarno with Katsumar. It's been raining all day so we were dying to get some finds between showers.
This was our first of the run as we knew smirkwood would have done a good job with the cache.
And as it turned out we were right. Beautiful spot. The location of the cache really gave me the willies though. Definetly not recommended to be done with children. Beautiful view and a very big vertical drop.
Nice job Smirkwood!

Reperio at 2330.

Arrived at GZ under the cover of darkness, but still needed to be a little stealthy with the torch due to the close proximity of the nearby houses. Searched around a few places until I kept expanding my search...and eventually spotted the cache some meters away. The bats flying overhead sounded pretty cool...as all you could hear were their wings flapping.

S 33° 59.303 E 151° 02.268

Coordinates changed to:
S 33° 59.301 E 151° 02.262

Distance from original: 32.6 feet or 9.9 meters.

Just updating the coordinates after wazza9's find.

Also, an update on the species of gumtree... Skink messaged me and says he thinks it might be a Red Bloodwood (eucalyptus gummifera). I will research further when I have time but if you have any other clues let me know via log-note or message!

15-Feb-13
TFTC smirkwood,
Wow, what an experience today turned out to be. Armed with the alternative coordinates I returned by myself to see how I would go and I was taken to a formation about 9m from where I previously had a GZ reading which fell within the terain rating indicated for the cache.
It wan't hard to see that I was in the correct location and I wondered to myself why I didn't get to check this spot out last time given that I spent so much time here concerned that everywhere I looked failed to be within the terain rating indicated.
As I approached GZ, I must have upset every Sulphur Crested Cocatoo and Lorakete in the area as I was welcomed with a continual screaching match. I could see that the most direct rout to the cache was not the safest and even the path I chose was dangerous given the rain we had last night. The moss was well soaked and ready for the shoes I had on and did on one occassion try to help me SLIDE over the edge. I think I was lucky today. Upon reaching the cache hide, still breathing heavily I moved the camo and extracted the container to SL and exchanged "Pandora's Down Under Lackey Tag" for "You have been caught RED HANDED" trackable. At this time a Lorakete came and sat on the rock beside me to watch what I was doing. A very unusual experience.
I visited a group of trackables sharing day 353 of my personal challenge as I attempt to reach 366 continual days caching including the 29th February (something you can only achieve every 4th year) and when I returned to a safe location, I took the time to turn around and take in the view offered at this amazing location.
Just for the fear factor and views that this cache presented this morning it will get a favourate from me.

14-Feb-13
I dropped by today to have a look at the cache myself. Yep, it's still there! But, as a previous finder notified me, the camo has been slightly changed (they'd brought a muggle along with them who I think thought they got to keep the cache and threw the first rock away!) so I have now updated the hint to go along with this. It's now a bit further in but it still shouldn't be too hard to find the telltale signs of a geocache's camo.

From what I can surmise from reading logs and my own experience, the GPS does swirl around here quite a bit so I can understand if you're having a bit of difficulty with this. When I went today it said I was 9m away even though I was standing right on the cache. In any case, if you want, you could try the following coordinates:

S 33 59.301
E 151 02.262

Oh and one more thing, I dropped off a nice little geocoin for the next finder and took the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader (I was pretty excited when I saw it!).

12-Feb-13
Checked this cache, due to the DNFs listed. The cache is definitely still there!

04-Feb-13
I will check in when I get back from holidays. Hopefully some other cachers come in and get it in the meantime to dispel any suspicions of muggle interference.

04-Feb-13
Very disapointing.
We spent an hour searching under every rock within 7m of where the GPS said we should be and at no time got to anything like the terain indicated. Found some good spots but no luck. Will place this on the watch list to see if new coordinates or any other information is provided.

03-Feb-13
Thanks Smirkwood for bringing me to this place with such great views. It needed a long reach to reclaim the cache and the high cliffs nearby were a bit daunting - geokiddies would need close supervision here - but a great spot nonetheless. Took a carabiner clip and left a mini book. TFTC.

So excited to have a cache hidden near where I live! Unfortunately it was pouring yesterday when mum and I ventured to get this new one, and after standing under somebody's carport for 15 minutes, we decided to let it slide.

AMAZING VIEW!!! Absolutely amazing! I've never come down this far before, thinking it was private property. GPS was abit jumpy, so trust Your instincts, haha. Thanks for placing one down here Smirkwood!
